I composed this instrumental after a sonogram with my wife. I recorded it with my iPhone, went home, and put this music to our son's heartbeat. Then I played it for him through his mom's belly.
Wrote and recorded this demo a few years back. I wanted to add a real sax to it, but that's an instrument I don't play. If anyone wants to take a stab at it, be my guest. Happy 2022 Year.

"Deadbeat Dad"
I look around at all that's going on I wonder if we'll ever be as one Left on our own in a world so sad Oh, God is a deadbeat dad
He left this book to figure it all out But we can't agree on what it's about Some use it for good Others use it for bad
Oh, God is a deadbeat dad.
We're all siblings in a house divided Searching for the truth but, denied it.
Soon enough they'll come a day Until then I'll just kneel and pray I'll ask him for strength and hope for the best
Oh, God is a deadbeat dad.

Acoustic guitars (sometimes pounding the backbeat), harmonica, and me singing a few of my songs. It's an enhanced "live" sounding album with hopefully just enough "ear candy" to keep you listening... and a couple of surprises for longtime fans. It's about the songs here. Not much more than what you'd see at one of my acoustic sets. Indie folk meets Americana laced with a little pop/rock.
These songs were recorded over 2 weeks in September of 2016. Most of these tracks began as "live to tape" performances, and all of the arrangements were kept to a minimum. I believe this album reflects mostly what I'm doing on my solo gigs but, more enhanced... and minus the cover tunes! I want to thank those of you who have purchased this already! Special thanks to those who come out to my "live" sets. Enjoy the show!
Genre Influences: Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, John Hyatt, Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin, Carole King, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Webb, Ritchie Havens, Jules Shear, Elvis, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Andy Bopp, Bleaker Street Cowboys, Joey Ramone, Billy Bragg, Woody Guthrie, Dan Bern, The Montgomery Cliffs.
