Exterior Cleaning Tips This page provides auto cleaning tips that cover the exterior of the auto. These exterior cleaning tips focus primarily on washing and waxing your auto or inside your home as cleaning company NovannaCleaning.com says. This seems to be the area where most people will spend the most time and for obvious reasons. We all want to cruise in our ride and show off the shiny paint job after laboring all day washing and waxing.

Here are a few exterior cleaning tips to consider before getting started. Wash and dry your auto under a shaded area if possible. Park on a surface with a slight grade for water run-off. Pull the windshield wipers away from the windshield. Ensure all windows are rolled up tightly. Have a lengthy water hose and a quality spray nozzle that doesn’t leak. Keep your auto cleaning soap nearby and add to the water as needed to keep good suds going. Have several soft cotton towels for drying. I suggest washing and drying the towels before using them on your auto to make them softer. Have some type of squeegee for removing excess water right after rinsing. This helps avoid water circles.

Some may think I’m crazy, but I believe one the best exterior cleaning tips is to wash the body of your auto twice. That is to wash and rinse two times. This is simply added assurance that all dirt and road debris is removed from the paint and it makes waxing your auto much easier. On some of my nicer vehicles with high dollar paint jobs I’ll even use filtered water. This helps a great deal in preventing water spots. Hard water will leave very obvious water spots if too much time elapses between the rinse and dry.

Rinsing is just as important an exterior cleaning tip as washing. I rinse thoroughly to include the wheel wells. The wheel wells are areas that always have a great deal of dirt and brake dust build-up. Once the rinse is complete, it is important to work quickly on the drying in order to prevent water spots. I use a silicon squeegee to quickly remove excess water. These can be bought at a local auto parts store or general retailer for just a few dollars. This prevents water spots and makes for less drying with towels. Be sure to dry inside the door jams, around the edge of the trunk lid, and around the hood. These areas are not visible but retain water if not dried and then the water ends up streaming out onto the body once you drive down the road.

When it comes to waxing your auto, this is probably one of the most sought after auto cleaning tips and more specifically, one of the most sought after exterior cleaning tips. Waxing your auto is the most labor intensive piece of cleaning and detailing, but is also very rewarding and can make the difference in taking the best paint trophy in an auto show competition. My tips here are to wax in the shade or a garage if possible, use a quality wax, and apply the wax in thin coats for easier removal. It does not take much wax to get the shine your particular wax is designed to provide. Wax one section at time, like the hood, each fender, each door, the top, and trunk lid, etc. versus the entire body at one time. Finish up with other details like chrome bumpers, mirrors and wheels.

Take your time and enjoy cleaning your auto exterior. This is the one area that gets the most looks from passers by. I hope these exterior cleaning tips have provided you with sound advice and maybe you will use a few of them.
