This interlude has been around for a while, but I just didn't feel like posting it. I think it has a cadential feel – to some it will have a note of finality.. to others it will seem more like a to be continued.
I cannot honestly say which one I had in mind, or which one comes to mind when I listen to it. I'll leave that up to you 🙂
I first posted a snippet of this on my IG on April 23rd but I didn't fully know what I wanted to do with it.. the journey I wanted to go on or the way I was going to get there. In the end I chose: • the journey – from the hill home to the valley • the way – quiet simplicity & wonder
It was a good project which didn't allow me to follow the same style, so that's a personal achievement :)
I hope you don't mind the background noise - children playing nicely.. it actually made me think of how children turn everything into an adventure. I like it here, though sometimes I'll wait for a quiet time to record.
Let me know what you think? Thank you for listening :)
I get a sense of calm when I'm at the seaside. It's one of my favourite places to be, to just exist. Maybe it's because I'm an island baby. It's something about the water, the sound it makes as it meets the shore either as a huge roaring wave or a gentle trickling cascade. The seaside really is a place that is both destructive & constructive.
Life is like that. Though this past year has certainly been destructive for many in a variety of ways.. I truly hope that you have had constructive experiences, something to keep you going.
Please don't give up 🙏🏾 although I know that at times this is beyond difficult.
________ Disclaimer: I improvise all the time as a regular part of my practice routine. The majority of it is unrecorded. In a way that's a shame, but I have the joy of playing for my own enjoyment as well as the choice to share a part of it. - Nathan.
That bold, vibrant splash of colour in an otherwise muted scene. Clearly there are other more subtle colours but this one definitely stands out. Maybe it should be a feature, maybe it should stay for a while so you can appreciate it.. but it's not there for long and eventually your memory won't recall exactly just how bold and vibrant it was.
— I hope that your friendships aren't transient. I hope that you don't have to see something bold and vibrant grow dull.
I hope that you always appreciate those bonds. They can last for life.
I remember not liking animals. It was the same thing with children (previous track reference.. boom). They are pretty chill when you just want to sit and watch a movie though. They steal your body heat, infringe on your comfort zone, then gradually fall asleep.
Until you move.
