Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. The Founding Fathers created a system of regularly scheduled elections so that we as the American people can select our own rulers, rather than having political rule imposed on us. They even created the power of impeachment so that in case of gross abuses of power, presidents could be removed from office through impeachment even between elections. But they clearly intended this as remedy for the most extreme cases of high crimes and misdemeanors, not for what somebody said on a phone call. By going to the mattresses over a legitimate exercise of presidential power - asking a foreign leader to help investigate corrupt meddling in an American election - the Democrats are trivializing the power of impeachment. Impeachment was never intended as a way for a losing party to overturn elections results they don’t like.
