This episode is all about how to host an amazing in-person event. We all know how dry and boring conferences can be when they use a cookie-cutter approach, so Chase and Mason break down exactly what a “best in class” meetup would look like.
It all starts by recapping Chase’s recent experience at an event called Commerce Roundtable, where he highlights what the organizers did well to make it stand out from most live events. Then, the guys break that down into tactical advice Mason can apply to his first real in-person mastermind for members of his CopyMBA inner circle.
Tune in if you want to learn what separates a so-so event from an amazing experience, or if you want to hear what big plans the boys have in store to close out the year.
And, while you’re here, give a shout-out to the best live event you’ve ever attended in the comments!
“I think the biggest message is just be a good person. Do good things for the community that end up being a win-win for everyone. You'll be really surprised by the support that you get in return.”
– Chase Dimond

In this episode, we hear about Mason’s experience at New York Fashion Week (not on the catwalk, sadly) and the fellas share some of their best tips around networking, dealing with problem clients, and breaking through plateaus when building a brand.
It all kicks off with a discussion about how to get in tight with celebrities and A-list influencers in your space, without coming off as sleazy or creepy. Finally, they talk about the value of consistency and how sometimes your audience growth efforts finally pop after weeks (or months) of frustration.

In this episode, Chase and Mason cover a variety of topics around personal branding, ranging from how to build an effective marketing funnel to how to structure your LinkedIn profile for success.
They start by doing some “funnel hacking” to reverse engineer the customer acquisition model that helped Publishing.com go from $2M to $100M almost overnight. This ties into Alex Hormozis value equation, which they use to self-assess their own offers.
Next, they run a personal brand audit on an Instagram influencer who has done an amazing job identifying a differentiated niche and positioning herself as THE go-to resource for that community.
Tune in if you want to copy a successful personal branding playbook, and ride along as Chase tears down Mason’s LinkedIn profile to help him grow his audience faster.
"Content alone isn't enough to go viral these days. Every person doing ghostwriting or content should have some distribution built in. Content alone isn't enough."– Chase Dimond

In this episode, Chase and Mason discuss some of the biggest Ls they’ve taken as business owners, and the steps they took to turn their setbacks into comebacks.
They also share their best advice for building killer products, which includes actively listening to customer feedback and finding new ways to take off your “expert hat” and look at your work through the eyes of a beginner.
They wrap up the conversation by talking about a new project Mason’s working on, and how much he’s enjoyed going from being the master to being the student all over again.
Tune in if you want to hear a few anti-success stories and drop a comment with the book you think the boys should use to kick off the Dimond Download book club.
"I remember a period of time where I thought, 'Oh man, this isn't all that it was chalked up to be.' We were counting on this money, and it just didn't come. Those early days were brutal."– Chase Dimond

In this episode, Chase and Mason discuss what makes the difference between “big” businesses and “HUGE” businesses, and lay out some of the common traits they’ve observed among the top 1% of founders.
They also tell stories of their best “money well spent” scenarios, where the value they got from the product or experience was exponentially more than what they invested. Spoiler Alert: The examples they share aren’t the ones you’d expect.
The conversation wraps up with a quick business update from Mason, who finally decided to take ads seriously and is now on track to have his first $1M month.

In this episode, Chase and Mason talk about the value of spending time with people in-person, whether that’s taking time off to enjoy a golf trip with the boys, attending a private mastermind, or hosting an industry meet-up.
Mason also shares his best takeaway from attending a mastermind hosted by Jeremy Haynes, which involves a concept called “goal math” that makes even your most ambitious revenue targets feel attainable.
They wrap up the conversation by sharing a few high value projects they’ve each been putting off, and discuss how silly it is to delay doing something that will obviously have a positive impact on the business.
Tune in to find out if Chase and Mason are going to start “The Dimond Dinner Series” after getting so much value from hanging out with folks IRL.
"I don't think you can tell when someone's decent to good. But when the production quality is high AND the content is valuable, that’s when it’s actually perceived to be high value. That's the trifecta."

At the end, they create some revisionist history and adjust their rankings to reflect what they would have chosen if they knew all of the options up front.

I wanted to share 5 Marketing Trends for 2022.
With iOS 14, 14.5, and 15, the visibility we have as marketers seems to be diminishing by the day.
Yet, we still need to provide just as personalized of an experience as we always have, if not, more.
We'll need to tie back as much data as we can into our email platform so we have this data accessible.
Everything from where someone discovered us, to the onsite actions someone has taken, to their purchase behavior, and so on.
With recent technological advances, being able to create experiences within the inbox will become more feasible and more important.
And this goes beyond just leveraging something like a GIF within an email.
You'll want to allow people to answer surveys within an email, leave a review within an email, and even down the road, transact within an email.
Emails will need to act more like landing pages.
More info to come on this topic in 2022.
This one should be straightforward but the engagement (opens, CTR, and CVR) of SMS is incredible.
Top of funnel has become more difficult and unpredictable.
As such, brands that can foster relationships and build true communities will be those that win in 2022 and beyond.
Your customers should be creating content, sharing your brand, and providing valuable feedback.
While my team creates beautiful emails for our clients, and I'm also building a badass email design tool that anyone can use (launching in 2022), I do think plain-text will become more prevalent than it currently is for DTC brands.
Plain-text can feel more personal and can potentially lead to hitting the inbox more often than the promotions folder.

What is RFM (Recency, Frequency, Monetary)?
RFM represents a segmentation strategy that uses historical transactional data to help you segment your customers based on three variables: Recency (R), Frequency (F), and Monetary Value (M).
Recency (R) – how recently a customer has purchased from you;
Frequency (F) – how often a customer purchases from you;
Monetary Value (M) how much a customer usually spends.
RFM is one of the most popular segmentation models in eCommerce. All you need to identify your RFM segments is the historical customer data that you already have within your CRM or eCommerce platform.
What is RFM analysis?
RFM analysis is a technique for understanding and analyzing your customers based on three factors: Recency, Frequency, and Monetary Value. The goal is to predict which clients are more likely to buy again in the future.
You can perform RFM analysis:
Manually – using the good ol’ data exports spreadsheets, or
Automatically – using a tool that does all the work for you once you set the RFM scale for the R, F, M values.
For both alternatives, you first have to set the RFM scale and score according to your business size and customer lifecycle.
If you choose automated RFM analysis, setting the scale and scores represents all the manual work you’ll ever need to do. Your segments are constantly updated based on transactional data, so you can go straight to performing RFM analysis as often as you need.
What if I told you the RFM analysis is just a few clicks away, and it will help you shed some light on your customers’ behavior within your shop?

In this video we cover highly actionable SMS Text Message Marketing Strategies.
Here are the questions I asked Elena from SMSBump:
SMS marketing has been around for a while. On a high level, though, what would you say is the channel’s primary goal and what is it most effective for?
I am curious - how has the SMS landscape changed in the last few years in terms of new users, how brands use the technology, development etc.
Bottomline, SMS is primarily a retargeting channel. How can people leverage their other channels to help speed up their SMS subscriber growth and is that a good strategy?
There’s been a lot of talk recently about how SMS is becoming a primary communication channel, in light of all the privacy changes and updates. What makes you think/say that?
BFCM is coming up. How can brands maximize their SMS efforts before, during and after BFCM?
I’d like to focus on the “after BFCM” part here for a minute. How do we nurture customer relationships after such a sales-driven event like BFCM, when most people are just here for the discounts and offers? What are some strategies and proven methods and is SMS a good channel for this?
And what are some things brands should avoid when using text message marketing?
What are some out-of-the-box ways to engage with customers via SMS? You already mentioned abandoned cart reminders and shipping updates, but how do we give SMS an unexpected spin, how do we make it playful and interesting?
What can we expect from SMS marketing in the next year or so? Where’s it headed, how’s it going to change?

In this video, Eric shares his best practices around Ecommerce Website Tips and Tricks: Post-purchase CRO, Customer Support, and Email Marketing.
Eric built a tool called ReConvert that helps people drive more sales on the customer thank you page.
Here are a few of his best tips and tricks:
It's super important that you optimize your thank you page. We've taken customers from 0 to as high as a 10% conversion on thank you pages. Transactional emails drive traffic to thank you page and based on our data, customers visit the thank you pages on average 2.7 times per order.
A great way to upsell and cross-sell products is by offering same product purchased at additional discount, only now for the next few minutes. If they decline, offer the same product with even bigger discount.
Offer multiple types of offers since different customers respond differently to various offers.
We've seen the following be super effective: On the thank you page, display a popup with time sensitive offer on entire store, where the discount auto applies.
Cart recovery is the most powerful automation for ecommerce stores. Make sure you keep testing and optimizing.

on each/all advertising efforts
Comparing profits/costs between: Ad platforms, campaigns, ad accounts, ad sets, individual ads.
Pinpointing your most and least profitable ads
Pain Point #5

This interview is a deep dive in the actual Email Marketing Strategies to Bring Customers Back After Black Friday.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) are great for acquiring and converting customers.
However, you'll typically be the least profitable during this timeframe due to leveraging large discounts and offers.
Here are some of the questions I asked Tina and Lisa.
Before we dive into some tactics, what was the inspiration behind us talking today about post-Black Friday marketing strategies?
What is the first thing brands should do after running their Black Friday and Cyber Monday campaigns—before communicating with customers again?
After the hype of BF/CM, how can you re-engage customers and build excitement around your brand again?
Let’s talk about returns for a second. While BF/CM is the time where brands see the most sales, it’s also the time of year with the most returns. What are some best practices with returns to stay profitable and keep customers engaged? How can you use email to communicate these messages?
It’s important to remarket customers to bring them back in the new year, but what about immediately after Black Friday? Since we’re getting right into the Christmas holiday season after, what are some tactics brands can use to drive conversions immediately after Cyber Monday?
What are some ways brands can increase their AOV right after Black Friday using email? After running tons of sales, it’s probably important for some founders to drive more profitable conversions afterward.
In one of your recent blog posts, you shared the importance of highlighting your gift cards after Black Friday. Can you share a bit about why this is important with me? What’s the purpose here?
A big concern with brands this year are delays with shipping and fulfillment. How are you helping your clients work with this? Any tips you can give?
Before we wrap this up, Lisa and Tina, do you have any best practices you can share so the audience can be as successful as possible with these ideas you’ve shared?

We cover the email marketing strategy for 2021 on What to Actually Do as an Email Marketer for iOS15.
Jimmy Kim, the Founder and CEO of Sendlane, a top email marketing platform, shares his winning tactics for iOS15 Email Marketing.
Here are the six things you can do as a marketer to prepare and adapt:
Yes, I know your # subscribers will be cut in half.
Yes, I know that it will hurt the experience
Yes, I know that… (ENTER 500 other reasons)
But now let me tell you WHY.
The laws are evolving and changing. You know about GDPR, CASL, CCPA… but do you know about: VCDPA, CPA, or NP law!
Those passed recently, and it’s continuing to create rules by the state on HOW you can communicate with customers, especially if your business is at scale.
You’d be shocked how much better everything is when you email the people that confirm their next email from you.
Creating a segment of active, engaged users - aka people who have opened or clicked an email in the last X days... is your go-to the segment you use most.
That’s great, but it simply will not work anymore.
Instead, you will have to start expanding your mind and get creative.
ideas:
Revenue-based + Subscription based segmentation
Click and revenue/event-based segmentation

Segment based on audience preferences
But when you can’t identify an open rate, you need to start thinking about it differently.
Spam complaints and bounces will matter even more - ESP’s flying a little blind, and so are you.
There’s going to be knee-jerk reactions to a high bounce rate (over 2%) and spam complaints over 0.1%. Remember, Google already doesn’t report back direct spam complaints to the email as Yahoo and AOL do.
Enter Multivariate testing.
You will need to test a lot more content primarily focused on CTA to improve CTR with the end goal of revenue.
Experiment like crazy and keep testing.
And you need to start drilling down all your different ISP’s to learn more about how each segment is reacting and adjust for it.
It’s time to care.
The rise of copywriters, especially direct response copywriters, will start to appear.
SELLING with words is real, and it’s going to be the make or break point for your marketing efforts.

In this video you'll learn 4 simple email marketing strategies to boost email response rates and your email deliverability as a whole.
One critical note about your Email Sender Reputation:
Every time we send an email, multiple factors are working for (and against) us - and all of these play a significant role in our overall Email Sender Reputation.
The core objective of our email sender reputation is to determine whether our emails are a form of unsolicited spam, or if they're welcome, personal messages sent between friends.
And what's one thing we do with most personal emails we receive?
We reply.
Most Welcome Emails that try to inspire responses speak to the sender's ego, not the reader's, and it's a critical mistake (and a significant lost opportunity).

Josh started his Ecommerce Brand and Shopify Store back in 2015.

We cover the marketing channels he used (Facebook, Instagram, Email Marketing, etc), his crazy growth trajectory, his learnings, advice, and so much more.

He shares amazing content on his learnings from scaling his Shopify store, like you see below:
5 Things I wish I knew about PRODUCT , before scaling my eCom brand to $6.5 M /year
Buckle up, when I first launched my ecom brand I was 20 and just figuring this out,
you'll be way further ahead than I was by reading this.
Here’s what I wish I knew:
We had gross margins at 50% that I eventually got to 65%
These are pretty good IF you can hold your price point over time.
When the market got competitive, our margins shrunk because of automation overseas,
Keep those margins 75%+
When I started out, I set an arbitrary number of a $80 CPA.
This allowed us to scale add the level of cash to our accounts like we wanted.
Build your CPA target with your fixed costs built in.
Our product was a weighted blanket, which was a great price point ($200+)
BUT, there was no reason to buy a second blanket,
This made it difficult because we started every month from 0 in terms of repeating customers
Your product should be evolving based on user feedback.
Start thinking about how your 2.0 product can improve user experience and brainstorm ancillary products that could be used as an upsell.
If your product is copied it means you’re on the right track.
The market is validating your idea, and you need to stay ahead by innovating on product and marketing.
Your advantage: Speed & Focus.

HINT: The answer is absolutely yes.
With everything happening in the marketing world from iOS 14, iOS 14.5, iOS 15, Google getting rid of cookies, and so on, having a zero party data strategy is of the utmost importance.
Zero-party data offers an innovative solution in the cookieless online landscape and an excellent alternative to the currently available cookies. It is information that is hard to infer or buy from a user, in other words it is information that a customer freely shares with a company.

In this Ecommerce SEO for Beginners interview, Josh Piepmeier, breaks down everything you need to know to do SEO well for your or your clients Ecommerce Store.
Throughout this episode with Josh, he covers the 3 stages of SEO:
Make Money ASAP (Bottom of the funnel)
7 Figures (Middle of the funnel)
Total Domination (Top of the funnel)
Here's some info Josh shared on where most Shopify stores go wrong.
Typical SEO campaigns go something like this:
👉 Target keywords that bring in a lot of traffic (typically top or mid-funnel)
👉 Build massive organic traffic
👉 Work on converting that traffic
These campaigns make a lot of sense at first glance, but can take a long time to produce measurable results. Why?
Because the keywords that bring in the most traffic and clicks are almost always very high in the funnel, aka targeting people who aren't ready to buy any time soon.
Here's some info Josh shared on what most Ecommerce Brands should do instead.
Rather than trying to build flashy traffic numbers that make most SEOs salivate...
...I help my clients build campaigns that target high-intent keywords and prioritize conversions and revenue over traffic. Here’s what that looks like:
👉 Use customer research and intent signals to figure out what customers are typing in Google when they’re ready to buy
👉 Target keywords that indicate high buying intent (regardless of volume)
👉 Track and optimize for revenue and conversions from day one
In short, we start by targeting the bottom of the funnel, capturing existing demand, and building a profitable SEO practice. That way, your SEO essentially pays for itself forever and your net cost becomes zero.
Once we reach that point, THEN we move up the funnel and start building mid- and top-of-funnel traffic that builds brand awareness and captures a bigger audience.
This approach has helped me get results like this for my clients:
➡ Drive a positive ROI from SEO in under three months
➡ Create single blogs that bring in $10k per month
➡ Build campaigns that bring in $100k per month in under a year
➡ Go from 100% reliant on paid traffic to diversified revenue sources

In this interview, you'll learn the 4 most important elements for how to land local businesses as clients.
The 4 most important elements in landing local businesses as clients, as told by Paul Schiffbauer Jr., are:
Whatever service you are offering, identify the potential pains and gains your ideal prospect has.
Relating to your prospect on a local level goes beyond your offer.
Look for the following ways and avenues to further build rapport:
The community connection
Your connection to the prospect's business (customer, fan, etc)
Building Community
Marketing at its core is about community.
In-person networking events
Digital networking opportunities
Bridge the gap between the two.
What common characteristics do you have in your market?
What do you need to further develop?
Regardless of what you see online about freelancing and building an agency, it's vital to understand your market and what they need.
Part of this process revolves around sharpening your skillsets to best deliver value to those in your respective community.
This is a constant cycle of being present and top of mind to your various audience members.
Being present will allow you to continually gain new clients over the course of time.

In this video, Andy Strote, a successful digital marketing agency owner and author, shares his best tips for how to get clients for your digital marketing agency.
We extensively focus on these 2 topics:
Identifying and finding professional clients, and how to avoid the amateurs
Going after the clients you really want, I.e. not waiting for random clients to contact you
More about Andy:
I have been a copywriter, creative director and founder of three creative agencies in Toronto.
Before I started my agencies, I wrote for six Toronto ad agencies, large and small. My clients included Canon, Colgate, Canadian Tire, Delta Hotels and New Brunswick Tourism.
In my first agency, I worked solo with other freelancers. By the mid-’90s, my billing was over $120,000 a year, but I couldn’t grow because there are only 24 hours in a day.
I knew I needed more resources and decided to start a larger creative agency. I found a compatible graphic designer who became my business partner. Together, we founded Fireworks Creative, one of Canada’s first truly integrated creative agencies. We built websites for some of Canada’s leading utilities, the first website where you could buy movie tickets, and many hotel sites. We also created major print and direct mail campaigns for some of Canada’s most prominent corporate and government clients.
In five years, we grew Fireworks Creative from two to 30 people. We were on the radar of two companies interested in buying our firm—a global advertising network and Cognicase, a multi-national IT company. We chose to sell to Cognicase for $3 million.
Six months later, I was asked to leave (typical for those kinds of deals), and after a summer of thinking about the next steps, I started the next agency, Context Creative, with one partner and one employee. We grew that company to 28 people.
After 15 years, I sold my shares to my partners.
Today, I write for a select group of clients and I wrote this book. I’ve been lucky to work with great designers, art directors, photographers, filmmakers, animators, illustrators and programmers. I’ve also been fortunate to have had the guidance of two incredibly helpful accountants—you’ll read about it in the book.
I’ve hired people, fired people and had to let go of good people during a business downturn.
Through all of this, I’ve learned the nitty-gritty of running a business, how to find the best clients and the most practical ways to work with staff and partners. Some of this I learned the easy way, and some the painful way.

I ended up interviewing Allan for my Ecommerce Newsletter & YouTube channel due to a cold email he sent me.
The cold email was so good that I had to invite him on to share some information about what he coined as the "Talking Things" email.
I'm so glad he reached out because he overdelivered in this episode.
The "Talking Things" email is super interesting and applicable to most verticals (ecommerce, Shopify stores, info products, SaaS, and so on).
Here's the cold email he sent me:
"Hi Chase,
Recently discovered your podcast and got to listen to the episode “How Email & SMS Work Together With Chase Dimond & Bea Doheny”. This episode is a real gem!
Never thought of using SMS for marketing. Everything you and Bea shared are really interesting, especially the ones for fun and engagement like the Friday song list and mood scale.
I shared this episode to my company team and we’re planning to try some of the ideas via Facebook DM to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing this golden nugget on your podcast! It's really helpful and unique.
This all led me to your Instagram and I must say..I’m a fan. Really like that your Instagram is full of bite-size and easy-to-do tips. I have to admit though..I may have watched more of Shay’s video than yours. She kinda reminds me of my daughter when she was still a baby.
With the golden nugget I've gotten from you, I would like to give back to you and your community. Recently, we've been exploring the possibility of collaborating with fellow email marketers and online businesses
Would you be interested in working together on a podcast episode? Perhaps I can share a few simple steps on how to write an engaging welcome sequence for new leads. These steps will help your audience easily combine promotion and nurture content in one email.
We can share the podcast to our email list of over 11k subscribers and our socials to help spread the word.
Are you open to exploring something like this?
Best,
Allan"
I hope you enjoy this episode!

I'm excited to share this iOS 15 Round Table discussion I hosted alongside Airmeet with the CEO's and Executives at the top Ecommerce Email Marketing Platforms.
I was fortunate to have the following people participate:
Ben - CEO at Privy
George - VP at MessageBird
Jimmy - CEO at Sendlane
John - CEO at Drip
Kady - VP at Klaviyo
Rytis - CEO Omnisend
They answered the following 6 questions:
Is email marketing dead? How will iOS 15 change email marketing?
What is your number one tip to start planning and navigating your email marketing with the changes coming with iOS 15?
What other metrics would you look at without open rate data? What replaces the open rate?
Will email still deliver 20-40% of a merchant’s revenue post iOS15 with the lack of open attribution tracking?
How will ESP’s make their own adjustments for measuring deliverability? What is your team thinking about/doing to prepare?
Is your company creating any new features to help counteract the update? And if so, what can we expect to see?
