To what extent has the promise of the Pledge of Allegiance been fulfilled for all people in the US?
Students selected a distinct population of people who have struggled during our country’s history to achieve justice. They are telling the story of their chosen group through these podcasts.
The African-American community in the United State has had a long and grueling history with the medical system since the time of slavery up until the present. Because of centuries of mistreatment and abuse by those who are supposed to treat them with respect and dignity, medical mistrust is abundant amongst African-Americans, especially the older generation. During this global pandemic, it is more important than ever for a conversation to be had about how we can work towards unity, transparency and understanding in the medical field. In this podcast, we plan to discuss the history of times the medical system has failed people of color, how it still affects them today, and what we can do to bridge the gap between medical professionals and the African-American community.

The Sanitatem podcast is a chance for people of the world to understand the extent of how difficult medication, vaccines, and treatment is to obtain. Some forms of medication are imperative to one's survival, yet they are very expensive making it difficult for the less wealthy to afford. Treatment and vaccines are important to survival, yet those who need them the most have very limited access to them. These injustices in the healthcare system are problems that need to be addressed. We, in a collection of five podcast episodes, go deeper into the reasoning behind these issues.
