You may already know this isn’t my first go around at a daily challenge.

If I had to put together a top 10 list of things you don't need to worry about when it comes to email marketing, the length of your email is close to the top of the list.

There are plenty of businesses doing extremely well with short emails.

There are plenty of businesses doing extremely well with long emails.

And there are plenty of businesses doing extremely well with email lengths of somewhere in between.

On the flip side, there are far too many businesses who don't make a sale no matter how long the email is, and the main reason is this:

They're not making an impact with their emails.

Their audience doesn't care about what they're sending, so they get low open rates, low click rates, and low (if any) sales from their emails.

That's the real secret here.

And not enough people talk about this.

Fortunately, the fix is relatively easy and it all comes down to fully understanding your market.

So I started this whole daily video marketing challenge about 6 days ago, and I've already made a major mistake.

And I've learned a big lesson from this...

When you add too many things to your plate, it's easy to lose sight of your original goals.

It can be overwhelming when you're trying to balance a bunch of things all at once, especially when you're learning something new in the process.

Fitness is a perfect example of this:

If you're trying to get in better shape, you have to learn how to eat right, exercise properly, rest well, hydrate enough, improve your cardiovascular health, and more.

That's a lot of stuff for one single goal!

Even if you know how to get enough sleep and exercise well, if you're not eating the right diet for your goals, then the odds of improving the way your body looks are low.

So you have to learn that too, and it's so easy to get caught up in all this stuff that you almost forget why you're doing it in the first place.

This is exactly why so many people give up.

It's tough.

Building a business online is no different.

And in my case, I had one particular goal in mind for my marketing and promotion efforts...

Then started doing something new which didn't support that goal.

Looking back, it really doesn't make much sense.

Back when I got started, I would try to come up with a subject line, then write the email, then add a call to action.

After doing this for a while, I eventually got better at writing emails by simply practicing over and over.

But if I knew what I know now, I would have written them backwards which would have saved me so much time and made my emails flow that much better.

To be clear, I don't mean actually writing backwards...

(that would be insanely difficult lol)

I mean starting with the goal of your email and going from there, with the subject line being the last step.

Here's why this works:

Let's say you want to make more sales of your product, and you're about to sit down and write an email.

If you know your goal is sales, it'll make it much easier to write an email that logically leads into making the sale.

You could share a customer story, a relevant tip, or talk about a problem that your product solves.

Much better than writing a generic company update or yet another "top 10 tips" email which is easily ignored.

Then you can simply transition into a straightforward and simple call to action to buy your product.

From there, you simply tease the content in the subject line where you give your subscribers just enough of a reason to click without spoiling the whole thing.

At this point, you can scan the email for errors or weird wordings and feel confident in clicking that "send" button.

Unsurprisingly, I follow this exact method when writing the vast majority of emails I send out, especially when my goal is sales.

I'm a big fan of challenges, since I think they're one of the best ways to practically force growth and personal development in a very short time frame.

Years back, I had this incredibly bold goal of growing my YouTube channel by posting a new video every single day for 2 years straight.

I got the idea from this guy Sean McCabe who's an incredibly successful online creator.

He did a video years back about showing up every day for 2 years in order to grow an audience and a business, and I took it to heart.

So I got to it!

I was working at a small local gym back then, and decided to make that announcement video before opening up the shop.

And every day from that point forward, I would upload a brand new video to my channel.

Not some "sit down and talk" video either...

I was filming throughout my day and sharing what I was doing like some kind of zero budget reality show.

It was tough at first, but I enjoyed it.

And it wasn't long before I got into a good groove of creating, editing, and uploading a daily video while balancing work, fitness, writing, and a social life.

Fast forward a bit, I ended up failing the challenge.

After 374 videos in a row...

I missed an upload.

Even though I kept posting, the challenge was over.

(verifiable by the permanent upload dates of YouTube videos lol)

Despite not reaching my 2 year goal, that challenge helped me grow quite a bit, and today I'm going to do a whole new video challenge.

This time around it's a bit different, because instead of talking about myself and my life, I'm going to share purely email marketing content to help you boost your response rate and sales from email.

So here are the rules:

-My daily video challenge runs May 1st to May 30th

-Every new video must be uploaded by 11:59pm EST to count for that day (ideally 9am)

-The only verbal call to actions allowed are YouTube based, such as subscribe, like, comment, etc.

If I do this exactly as described, this should maximize the impact of the challenge, both for the audience and my personal growth.

How To Create A High-Converting Email Marketing Landing Page Funnel Without A Lead Magnet

Step 1: Get the attention of your ideal audience in the headline of your landing page

Fitness example: “Want to learn the same 3 step system John used to lose 10 pounds in 30 days without crash dieting or spending every day at the gym?”

Business example: “If you’re looking for an easier way to get new customers without spending more money, then this newsletter is for you…”

Relationship example: “You’re about to discover the easy-to-implement strategies that allow some men to get dates with ease, even if they’re not rich, jacked, or handsome…”

Step 2: Tell people how to subscribe and what to expect in the description

One-size-fits-all example: “Sign up with your best email below and get instant access to these free tips as well as fresh emails every week to help you even further.”

Step 3: Deliver value inside the welcome email directly

You don’t need some fancy PDF, video, infographic, or high quality audio to deliver the value you promised on your landing page.

Instead, simply give that same helpful tip or insight in a 300-500 word welcome email, along with the important newsletter info.

Step 4: Include a call-to-action at the end of the email

This call-to-action could be:

-Ask what your subscriber needs help with most

-Ask for your subscriber to share the landing page with a friend

-A link to learn more about your product or service

-A helpful and highly relevant video or article

-Anything else that provides more value to your subscriber

Step 5: Tease what’s next in P.S.

The best open rate hack is to build anticipation for what’s next. Tease the next email in 1-2 lines and let your subscribers know to look out for it.

To make this work in a welcome email, you’ll need to add that next email to an automated campaign, otherwise not every new subscriber will receive it.
