After having my CAPD catheter installed, the next steps where to get me on the kidney transplant list. My medical team advised me of another option, which was find a living donor. So the search began......
I wanted to be in control of my life and not let dialysis control it. I needed to put a plan together so I can maintain my lifestyle while doing dialysis. I need my life life to stay as normal as possible....
Great! two weeks before Christmas and I have to get a catheter in my neck so I could start dialysis immediately. I show up at the hospital ready for anything on the outside but terrified on the inside.
The doctors did a biopsy to try and determine what was the cause of my kidney failure. This I thought was a great Idea for I might get some closure by finding out what caused this. They came back to me two days later with the result that they had no clue how this happened as the damage to the kidneys was so far advanced.
I woke up one morning with a headache and on top of that I could not keep anything down (I mean food or liquid). This went on a few days. I know what your saying to yourself why the hell did I wait so long? So, I go to the doctors to find out I have a bad gastric problems, he prescribes me some antibiotics. This does the job for about another 2 weeks. This time everything comes back twice the fold. I could hardly walk now the pain in my back, stomach, and head were immense.
