We often spend months planning every visual detail, but have you planned for how you actually want to feel? This week, we are joined by international documentary wedding photographer Raphaëlle Granger to discuss a concept that is often overlooked in the hustle of wedding planning: presence.

- Performance vs. Reality: How to avoid performing for the camera by staying in motion and trusting your natural instincts.
- The Power of No: Making the invisible decisions about where not to compromise, even when professionals suggest otherwise.
- Protecting the Atmosphere: Practical tips for managing your getting ready space to ensure it remains a calm, organized sanctuary.
Whether you are an introvert who needs time to recharge or a couple who simply wants to remember how the day felt rather than just how it looked, Raphaëlle’s insights will change the way you look at your wedding timeline.

I'm sharing my blind reactions to Vogue's predictions for which wedding trends will be in and out for 2025. See how many I agree and disagree with - and what I get my soapbox about this year! lol
Remember to always do what you like. Trends and just trends and your wedding should reflect you as a couple!
As I said last year, this article was not as inclusive as it should be. Vogue said "bride and groom" when referring to couples. If that upset you, know that you are not alone.

Vogue Magazine has released their wedding trend forecast for 2024 and I’m doing a blind reaction on this week’s episode of The Wedding Dish podcast. Trends are great, but they’re just that - trends. Don’t let them take over your wedding planning or control your wedding day!
If you’re curious about what I’m seeing in the real wedding world as well as what my thoughts are on Vogue’s predictions, you don’t want to miss this episode.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that I am disappointed that this article is very bride-centric and leans into traditional gender roles in this article. Not only men wear suits, not all weddings have a bride and groom, etc. In 2024, I expect better and the further I get out from having read this article, the more this bothers me.
In this episode, I reference a sustainability conversation surrounding biodegradable drinkware from this episode.

When your work schedule isn't flexible, holiday weekends become a very viable option for planning your wedding. Getting married over a holiday comes with unique challenges and benefits.
If you're seeing holiday commercials on TV, you can assume that a venue that is open to the general public (like a country club, hotel, or restaurant) will have holiday decor. Sometimes it's just twinkle lights, while other times you'll find nutcrackers or a tree.

“Remarriages, stepfamilies, and blended families don't have to be unhappy for people. In fact, I want to be a voice that you can build a beautiful and happy life as a stepparent or adult in a blended family.”
And, this week on The Wedding Dish, we’re chatting about remarriages, bringing blended families together, and being happy - on your wedding day and in your family.

Accommodating everyone on your wedding day can be a challenge. That’s why this couple decided to talk with each of their guests at the beginning of the planning process to hear what was important to them.
When your family is a priority, making time to talk with them about what is important to them surrounding your wedding celebration early on is critical.
It was important to us that everyone felt seen and heard during the wedding planning process. We made time to have conversations with each of our family members to make sure that we knew their expectations and what was important to them early on.

André wasn't interested in every aspect of wedding planning, but his partner didn't want him to feel left out. Sometimes what's fun for one of us isn't always the other person's cup of tea.
It's never easy to have tough conversations (that's why they're called tough!), especially surrounding something as emotionally charged as planning a wedding. But it almost always feels better afterward - and it sets you up for success as a couple because you have an open line of communication.
This week, we're dishing about André's wedding planning journey, relationships, communication, and more!
Guest: André, Project Equinox

When your work schedule isn't flexible, holiday weekends become a very viable option for planning your wedding. Getting married over a holiday comes with unique challenges and benefits.
If you're seeing holiday commercials on TV, you can assume that a venue that is open to the general public (like a country club, hotel, or restaurant) will have holiday decor. Sometimes it's just twinkle lights, while other times you'll find nutcrackers or a tree.
Guest: Carrie Murray, BRA Network

"As a wedding magazine editor, I have a birds' eye view of wedding trends that are happening around the country. Some of those "trends" are indeed shifts, meaning they're sticking around for awhile."
What's the difference between a trend and a shift? We've seen a lot of changes since 2020. From the way we celebrate to who we celebrate with to what we prioritize when planning weddings.
Brittny defines shifts as changes that are going to be sticking around for years and years (maybe even forever), while trends may have a shorter shelf life. We're dishing about all of the newest trends - and the coolest shifts - on The Wedding Dish this week!
This week, Sara is joined by Brittny Drye, the human behind Love Inc.

Understanding your strengths and weaknesses plays a bigger part in wedding planning than most of us realize. Me? I'm not great at planning in general. And, Victoria isn't either.
Pushing ourselves to do something we're not the best at can often lead to unnecessary stress, disappointment, and frustration. So, play to your strengths and hire a professional or ask for help for the other stuff.

The story of how we met is actually the story of how we didn't meet for a super long time. We went to the same tiny college, we taught at the same school... We have tons of friends in common. It's hysterical that we didn't meet for 20 years.
Myka and Dagan got married in Newport, OR. The day was perfect, but the planning process was not. Planning a wedding long-distance meant that these two weren't able to enjoy the "togetherness" of planning a wedding.
Hear their story on this week's episode of The Wedding Dish!

We're kind of normal-adjacent in the wedding world right now. It's not 100% back to carefree celebrations, but we're getting there. And, one of the cool things that has come out of the "pause" is that couples are doing what they really want during their celebrations.
Lean into that! Embrace it! You deserve to be happy and you shouldn't feel obligated to celebrate in a way that doesn't feel like YOU!

"I want to reiterate to couples that they should never take this bad behavior personally." Guests aren't always on their best (or most considerate) behavior before, during, and after your wedding. And, when that happens, it's not your fault!
Leah Weinberg of Color Pop Events is on a mission to reassure couples that no matter who might be giving you attitude, complaining, or just not acting in the most respectful way — it's not about you; it's about them.

"We wanted a ceremony that included our parents because merging families was a big reason behind getting married — and wanted everyone to be able to understand the ceremony, so we created a very intentional bilingual ceremony and celebration."
When Elyse and her husband were getting married, they wanted to be certain that everyone could understand and participate in the celebration. So, they decided to have a friend get ordained and perform the ceremony in both English and Spanish.
And it doesn't stop there. This wedding is amazing!

The pandemic threw a lot of us for a loop in the wedding industry, but it gave this couple the opportunity to celebrate in the way that they truly wanted — small, intimate, personal, and at home.
We both think we really lucked out by having a pandemic wedding. Neither of us had any interest in planning and our parents both had a lot of requests. It was gearing up to be a nightmare. Then the pandemic hit and our parents were suddenly more concerned about us getting married than planning a big multicultural extravaganza.
Jess, the CEO of Backbone Business, shares her wedding story and how they navigated the planning process prior to the pandemic and pivoted to get the wedding that they truly wanted in the end.

Liz and Shaun had the perfect wedding for them — an intimate celebration in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, CA. Their Airbnb had an amazing view and the snow that fell the night before they said, "I do," couldn't have been more perfect.

Get your hands out of everyone else's wallet and don't price your services or products based on what other people are doing; don't watch what everyone else seems to be doing and try to imitate them, just hoping it works for you; and remember that your clientele has never planned a wedding before, so step back from the curse of knowledge and educate your clients.
These are just a few tidbits that came out of our conversation with Heidi Thompson, the woman behind Evolve Your Wedding Business.
We delve into marketing in the wedding industry and how different it is from most other entrepreneurial spaces. If you're a wedding pro, this episode is for you.

Excluding LGBTQ+ Couples - or any Couples - Shouldn't be a Thing.
In 2019, one of the major global wedding expos neglected to showcase LGBTQ+ or diverse couples in their styled shoots, according to this week's guest, who was attending for the first (and last) time. Not only that, but the list of presentations didn't include anything about inclusivity or using inclusive language.
I'll be honest... My mind was totally blown when Chris Ferenzi Photography shared this information with me.
A photographer that I very much admire, who also works with many LGBTQ+ couples, I knew I needed to bring him on the show to share this experience.
