I know its a good one because its already recorded and I can't wait for yall to hear it.

What do you hope to accomplish this year? Every year in January we are given the opportunity to shape how that year will go for us. Will our year be good? Will it be crap? A very large part of your outlook on the year will depend on you and how you decide to approach it. This year I am focusing on being more creative, be OK with being more creative. Focusing on making better content, improving my photography and videography skills, and writing my book. The other things I am focusing on is being kinder, I'd like to think I'm already a nice person, but leading with kindness is something I can always work on. The holidays are a difficult time of year for many military families. In this episode I discuss a disturbing trend that is becoming more prevalent on social media. Spouses post questions looking for advise on topics such as making friends, resources for jobs, or even food banks. Far too often those request at met with ridicule or even flat out shamming. Why are we, as military spouses, so quick to insult and ridicule or fellow spouses when they need help?

Take the time to be a good person, lead with kindness first and be an asset and/or and ally. There is enough negativity in the world that we do not need to tear each other down when we can be helping.

Does your family not respect your boundaries when it comes to the holidays? Or are they simply following boundaries that you allowed early on? Meaning, early when you first got married did you and your spouse go "home" for the holidays alot? Now a few years later do you wonder why your family keeps asking you if you're coming back for the holidays? Communicating with non-military family members about your families plans for the holidays can be difficult. Making sure you clearly communicate what your plans are, and why they are the best decision for your family at this time, can make the holidays less stressful.

In the years I've been a Military Spouse something I have seen over and over again is people lacking confidence in themselves. I say that to let yall know I am guilty of it as well. I'm an overall pretty confident individual when it comes to most things. However, confidence in myself when it comes to doing things like starting this podcast back up after taking time off was incredibly low. Having the confidence to put yourself out in the public eye and try to accomplish something is no small feat.

There are things you can do to help build your confidence to try new things and take a chance on yourself. The number one thing I can tell you is, TRY. Thats it, thats the big secret, you have to be willing to take that first step and try.

This topic is one of the more divisive topics we have covered to date. Food insecurity affects a far greater number than most people realize. The reason why this topic is so divisive is because the cause of it is so misunderstood. All it takes is going to @glorynutrition instagram page and seeing the comments saying how its "not real" or "those people don't know how to budget", to begin understanding why the people this is impacting the hardest...don't want to talk about it. Thankfully we have people like Heather that are brave enough to have the tough conversations with policy makers to bring this issue to the forefront.

Heather brings the data backed knowledge to fight the battle of food insecurity and help bring better understanding to this problem.

However, when was the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror and realized that something could happen to you? That is exactly what happened with Samantha when she received her cancer diagnosis.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and this episode is amazing. Samantha explains how this diagnosis went missed for so long, even with her background as a Physicians Assistant (PA).

We don't spend the entire episode discussing her cancer and its treatment. We also discuss how this has helped her want to be more involved in Patient Advocacy and the importance of knowing when to fight for the medical treatment you deserve.

We quickly became social media friends and it didn't take long for us to be become actual friends. What I was excited about was hearing her story about being a Military Spouse. For a few reasons, 1: Her husband is a Marine and I haven't had this conversation with any Marine Corps Spouses yet. 2: She advocated for her husband to get the medical assistance he needed after leaving the Marine Corps. 3. Shes an amazing person and I could talk to her for hours about pretty much anything. Yes the title is Drinks with Danielle, we met on the Bourbon side of TikTok so we talk a little Whiskey and even a little about Cigars. Stick around for this one, you won't regret it. What happens when life or job circumstances change and you can't do that "thing" anymore? Being able to pivot into something new and different can be difficult, even scary; but necessary if you don't want to find yourself stuck with no direction.
