BIOGRAPHY Studaman Da Artist EPK 2017 2 | P a g e “A true lyricist.” “Versatile.” “Talented.” “Master of many styles.” “Lyrical prodigy.” All terms used to describe the artist Studaman. Born Sherwin Lawrence on January 16th in Georgetown Guyana, “Studaman” attended the North Ruimveldt Multilateral High School before migrating to the United States with his family. Studaman began his music career shortly after he entered the United States and fell in love with the hip hop culture and rap music. By his parents account, as a child growing up in East Lapenitance, Georgetown Guyana, Studaman was always intrigued by, and curious about the sounds coming from the speakers. Studaman soon realized he could be the one making the sounds coming from the speakers. In schools in Guyana, Studaman recalled being punished on many occasions for creating music on the school tables and chairs, so much so, that on one occasion Studaman ended up with an incision in the palm of his hand from one of those punishments. That, however, did not deter Studaman. His love for music would only grow as he matured. Studaman moved from NY and finished the last 6 months of high school in Baltimore, MD. Studaman then began pursuing his musical goals, professionally. The proverbial and literal doors started to open. Studaman became friends with an artist named Kaos and formed the group S.C.U. (The Self Contained Unit). The duo Kaos and Studaman (Master S back then) quickly set up shop and were well on their way. Studaman, coming from his West Indian background, was big on education. Although a music career was promising, Studaman began school at the City Community College of Baltimore. It was there things took an even more positive turn. Studaman met and began working with another promising artist name Shyheid, The Verbal Assassin. With Kaos pursuing other endeavors, Shyheid and Studaman became the new S.C.U. The group released 1 album by the name “Brace Yo Delf”. To this day “Brace Yo Delf” still has a cult following among true hip hop purist from the Baltimore, MD (and surrounding cities). Today, Studaman’s musical fire still burns. In March 2017, Studaman released a new single named “Instagram Bad” (prod. by Blackcity Entertainment). “Instagram Bad” is creating its own cult following and is receiving many accolades. “Instagram Bad” can be heard and seen on several media outlets throughout the world.
