Friends…how many of us have them? Well, when we were kids or teens or in college, that number of friends you had may have been a lot higher than it is currently well into adulthood. For many people, adulthood comes with a sharp decline in true friendships. And that kind of sucks. Friendships can bring so much happiness and joy into a person’s life and when they aren’t there anymore it can be hard. This episode was requested by a listener so in today’s episode I’m going to help her and you. We are going to discuss a few key elements to help you make friends as an adult and to create the tribe around you that you so deserve. And I hope to inspire you to give it a shot.
Manifest, manifest, manifest. Whew chile…this word…it is the hot word in the world of self-help, spirituality, entrepreneurship…just pick a topic or an area and people will find a why to include manifestation in it. So, here’s the real question…does manifestation really work? Does it live up to the hype? Ask some people and they will swear by it’s benefits, ask others and they’ll say it’s a hoax. Well, in today’s episode, I’m going to give you the truth about manifestation and if it really works. And I hope to inspire you to do it all.

While the feelings associated with imposter syndrome feel real and are very strong, I want you to know they are not facts. There are some things that just are a given in life that you should do like…drink your water, brush your teeth, exercise regularly, make up your bed…what about mind your business? Lol. It’s something that people say as a joke or to shade people at times, but there are true benefits to minding your business and today we are going to talk about them. In this episode I’m going to give you three good reasons to mind your business and I hope to inspire you to mind yours.
We're backkkkkk!
There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, and 52 weeks in a year. That equates to 525,949.2 minutes per year. Sounds like a lot of time, huh? Well, it kind of is, the question is, what are you doing with this time? Time is one of the few things in life that is constant. The number of minutes in an hour doesn’t change. The number of days in a week doesn’t change. We are the ones who change from moment to moment, minute to minute. So, that leads me to ask, what are you doing with your time? Are you wasting it? Do you find yourself constantly racing against the clock and running out of time? If so, you aren’t alone. So in today’s episode, we are going to discuss some of the top time-wasters in our lives and discuss how to use our time more wisely and I hope to inspire you to take advantage of this time.
Soooo....life happens, yall. And sometimes things don't go as planned (including my life). So, here's a replay to help you deal with it when your expectations don't align with your reality.

Ah, freedom! The freedom to do what you want. To say what you want. To be who you want. Sounds wonderful, right? Is this freedom real for you or is it just a fantasy? Well, if freedom and living freely are just dreams for you right now, then this episode is just for you. Many of you are living a life, but it’s not YOUR life. What I mean is you’re living life for everyone else. Doing what everyone else thinks you should do, saying what they think you should say, and being who they want you to be. This can be exhausting and most importantly it’s not allowing you to be your authentic self. In today’s episode, I want to give you a few tips on how to live more freely so that you can be the person you truly desire to be. And I hope to inspire you to do you.
Over the past several weeks I have had several conversations with women about confidence, or the lack thereof. And throughout these conversations on confidence there is a theme that continues to show its face and that is being humble. See what I’ve been learning lately through my work as a therapist is that many women’s confidence issues aren’t just about looks and personality. It goes much deeper than that. It’s about being raised as a girl to be humble and what that turns into as a woman. In today’s episode, I’m going to shatter some myths about what it means to be humble, share why you should be more confident, and explain how you can be both humble and confident in a healthy way. And I hope to inspire you to show up and show out!

So through my years of work as an entrepreneur and throughout life in general I have dealt with receiving more no’s than I can count. There have been times when I’ve tried to do certain things or be a part of certain things and I just simply felt overlooked and underrated. You may be experiencing the same thing in your life too. Whether it be at work, in your personal relationships, within your family…being overlooked isn’t fun. It can cause a lot of mental harm, depending on how you look at it. In order to keep going, I’ve had to develop a mindset that keeps me encouraged even when I feel like I’m being overlooked and underrated, and in today’s episode, I want to share with you a few things to keep in mind when those negative feelings hit due to being looked over and passed over and I hope to inspire you to see yourself.

In my opinion, every day is a great day to start. You don’t have to wait until the new year, until a new quarter, or until a new week (yall know we love to say we’ll start on Monday). Every day, every moment is an opportunity to start something new. So instead of focusing on the when, we are going to focus on a more important question, how? How do you start? In today's episode, I’m going to give you a few pointers on how to get going on your new journey, whether it be health, fitness, career, education, or self-growth. I’ll give you some steps to get you moving forward and to show you that starting isn’t as complicated and daunting as it feels. And I hope to inspire you to get going.

I saw this post on Instagram that said “call your strong friend so she can lie to you about how everything is fine” and it made me laugh, hard. I’ve been so guilty of this. And I know I’m not alone! The world is opening back up and people are trying to go back to normal, but this strong friend mentality isn’t something that I want to come back into play in your life. Or maybe being the strong friend is the only way you know how to be. Or maybe you are a friend to a strong friend and you’re not sure what to do. In today’s episode we are going to talk about the harm you take on when you portray being the strong one, how vulnerability can help you in the long run, and how to support someone who is always doing just fine. And I hope to inspire you to soften up.

How many times have you had a bad day and shared it with someone and they said “ah, it’s gonna be alright” or “don’t worry about it, things could be worse.” Or maybe when you’re going through a tough time you tell yourself “It’ll be fine” “everything is great”. Listen, It’s about time we stop lying to ourselves thinking it will help us feel good, because the truth is, sometimes too much positivity can be a bad thing. In today’s episode, we are going to discuss toxic positivity, what it is, why you shouldn’t do it, and how not to participate in it with yourself and others and I hope to inspire you to be truthful.

In today’s episode I’m going to discuss with you why I feel like quitting sometimes, why I don’t quit, and things you should keep in mind when you feel like quitting. During my many years of counseling, one question that I’m often asked is “how do I not let their mood impact me?” I’ve been asked this by many women who are dealing with their husband, boyfriend, parents, friends, and even co-workers and their negative mood. It can be hard sometimes to deal with other people and not be impacted by their negativity. It’s contagious sometimes. So today I want to answer the question and give you a few tips on how to not let other people’s mood or attitude bring you down and I hope to inspire you to stay in your zone.

Overachievers are people who do great things but still need to accomplish more. Even though they attain more success than the vast majority of people, they are never satisfied and always strive to accomplish more. Does that sound like you? No matter how well you do, no matter much you achieve. No matter what boxes you check off your to do list, it’s never enough. Being an overachiever can lead to great success, but it can also lead to a great amount of stress. In today’s episode I want to help my overachievers out there learn how to strive for greatness in a more healthy way. I’m going to give you a few tips on how to manage success so that you don’t burn out. And I hope to inspire you to be a healthy achiever.
So which one are you? Are you a procrastinator? You know, someone who waits until the last minute to get things done and puts all this stress and pressure on themselves up until the very last second. Or are you an overachiever who constantly puts pressure on themselves to go above and beyond in every aspect of their life? Let’s add a third option in here: are you a procrastinating overachiever? Someone who has ideas for days and puts pressure on themselves, but due to that pressure they procrastinate and wait to get things done because it’s so stressful? Whew, that’s a lot. Well if you’re any or all of these, the next two episodes are for you. Today’s episode, procrastinators anonymous and next week’s episode overachievers anonymous will address these issues. I think Aaliyah said it best when she said “age ain’t nothing but a number.” Now she was singing about something a lil different from what I’m talking about. She was talking about love and relationships, but today I’m talking about your age in relation to your dreams and goals. Now, we’ve talked about this before, but I see it far too often to not address it again. Today we are going to talk about the unhealthy thought patterns related to age and success and I’ll help you learn what you should be telling yourself to help you be your best regardless of your age. And I hope to inspire you to pace yourself.

Today, class is in session! We are going to talk about a major part of adulting and probably one of the most difficult aspects of growing into yourself which is setting boundaries with your parents. It can be hard for parents to realize that their children are now adults and it can be hard for adult children to behave as adults with their parents and this cycle can lead to an unhealthy relationship. So in today’s episode I want to help you, teach you, school you in how to set healthy boundaries with some of the most difficult folks to do so with…your mom and dad. And I hope to inspire you to set some boundaries.

The American poet E.E. Cummings once said “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” Being yourself sounds so simple, but in today’s society, it’s rather hard. To be free to think how you want, live how you want, and be how you want, is true freedom. So why are so many of us not living this way? Authenticity is the goal. To be genuine and real in everything you do. And to be this way in a society where being alike is more popular than ever is challenging, but it is still very possible for you to live an authentic life. In today's episode, we are going to discuss ways you can become more authentic and basically change your life for the better and I hope to inspire you to use your power.
I love the saying “your past doesn’t have to define you.” It is so true and it is such a great reminder that what you’ve gone through in the past does not have to be a reflection of who you are today. However, I do believe it is very important to realize and understand that your past can impact you. It may not define who you are, but your past can be very impactful. Many of you have been able to take the life you’ve been given and build upon it. But what you had to build upon may be a broken foundation. In today’s episode we are going to talk about how to repair a mental foundation that may have been broken due to past experiences. I’m going to give you a few things to know and a few tips to help you repair your mental foundation. And I hope to inspire you to Rebuild.
How many times have you heard people say “I have absolutely no regrets”? Probably too many times to count. While I do get where they’re coming from, I personally don’t believe that’s true and I definitely don’t feel that way. There are things I totally regret doing in my life and I’m going to share those things with you today, and I hope to inspire you to be better.
This episode is for me and you! With so many things on my plate, I've had to be intentional with prioritizing and taking breaks. This replay is a reminder to take care of yourself so burnout doesn't come knocking on your door. I'm taking my own advice and taking breaks when I need to. I hope this episode inspires you to do the same!
Success is constantly running through most of our minds and I’m sure we are full of do’s and don’ts when it comes to how to become successful. But I have found that there are many myths out there about success that may be keeping some of you stuck and causing you to waste precious time. In today’s episode I have going to talk about a few things I want you to stop believing about success. These things have been taught through the years, and I’ve learned, they just aren’t true or necessary. I want to free you of this misinformation and I hope to inspire you to define your success. Side note: the "F" in IKYFL stands for Freaking :-)
Enjoy this replay of one of my favorite interviews. My Husband and I (now married for 12 years) discuss what love is to us and answer some important questions about marriage.
Stuck! It’s feeling like every day is groundhog’s day. You’re sitting in emotions that you just can’t get past. You’re running in the same place and getting nowhere, making no progress, and going through the same cycle of emotions and behaviors over and over. It that you? Do you feel stuck? In today’s episode, we are going to talk about this feeling of being stuck and break down a few things that YOU are actually doing that keep you feeling that way. And I hope to inspire you to unstuck yourself.
Today, Imma tell you about yourself. I think you need to know who you really are. In a world where you’ve probably been called a lot of different things and been defined as a lot of different things I believe it’s time that you know who you truly are. So in today’s episode, I’m going to take some time, because I got time today, to remind you just who you are, who you really are! And I hope to inspire you to be you.
So, let’s have another conversation that I believe is long overdue. The notion that six figures are the end-all and be-all of success. If you’ve been on Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and especially now, clubhouse, you’ll find conversations all about how to make six figures and it has become the career gold standard. But guys, we need to talk. We need to talk about why making six figures should be the goal. There are so many other things I want you to consider when making career goals and we are going to talk about those in today’s episode. And I hope to inspire you to focus on what matters.
So let’s talk about something that seems to be running rampet within our society and that is this copy-cat mentality. That if you want to be successful you must look like everyone else, talk like everyone else, and do what everyone else is doing and do it exactly how they are doing it. This basically turns everyone into clones. And it leads me to ask…where is the originality? In todays society it seems that being original is a hard things to do. So in today’s episode we are going to talk about just that. How to be ok with being original and thus how to be ok with being different. And I hope to inspire you to be an original.
I hope you guys are starting this year off putting your best foot forward. Like most of you I have created a few things I hope to accomplish this year, I have some habits I plan to develop, and all that good stuff...but there is one thing that I know I need to quit that will totally change my 2021 and that is how I use social media. In today’s episode I’m going to get real and raw about how social media may be impacting us and what we should do about it and I hope to inspire you to do what’s best.
Happy new year everyone and welcome to the first episode of 2021. Most of you are super glad that 2020 is done and you have high hopes and great expectations for this new year or do you? If 2020 has taught us anything it is that nothing is for certain and because of that some of you may be very cautious with creating goals and desires for this year. But are they were a few things that I truly hope you work hard to accomplish and we’re gonna talk about those things today. And no, these are not your typical goals such as start your own business and make 1 million bucks. These are goals that can truly have an impact on your life and the world around you. So let's talk about a few things that I hope you add to your new year resolutions list and I hope to inspire you to have more.

So normally this time of year, I produce a special Christmas episode that is all about the season, but this year, I’ve decided to do things differently. I know that we are in what’s considered the most wonderful time of the year, but I cannot ignore the difficulty that many people are facing, including myself, this holiday season. Right now life may be described how Charles Dickens said it “it was the best of times and the worst of times.” You may have a lot of really good things going on in life, but you’re also having to deal with some really hard things like grief. So, today we are going to talk about grief. I have lost 2 family members in the last 5 months and I know so many people around me and in this world are mourning the loss of a loved one, so this holiday season, we are going to keep it real and talk about grief, what it looks like, and how to deal with it, and I hope to inspire you to give it some time.
So, over this holiday season, you may be spending more time or talking to your family a little more than normal. And in that communication, there may be some conflict. Sometimes you may not agree, or you may get on each other’s nerves, or old issues may come into the present. Whatever the case, I want to help you handle this conflict in a way that it does not ruin your relationship. I want to give you my top 3 tips to help you handle issues with the ones you care about in a way that keeps your relationship intact. And so I hope to inspire you to fight fair.
Every year websites and magazines come out with the top 30 people under the age of 30 or maybe even a 40 under 40. For most, it is an honor to be apart of this list. But through my work as a therapist I’ve seen far too often how this correlation between success and age has lead to a generation of people, especially women, who determine their worth by how much they accomplish, how many boxes they check, and how much they do before a set age. This mindset has lead to many people feeling anxious, depressed, and unsatisfied with their blessed life, all because of timing. In today’s episode I want to discuss the danger of this narrative and show you how to break this toxic mental cycle. And I hope to inspire you to take your time.
It’s impossible! How many times have you said or heard that? It’s just impossible. No matter whether it’s your ideas about school, your career, or even in raising your children, it’s like there’s always somebody there with their two cents and saying “it’s impossible.” Well, I’m here to tell you that those people are wrong. This year for black history month my family and I did things a little differently. Instead of focusing on the achievements of African Americans in society, we focused on teaching our kids their family history. For the last few years, my husband has been working fervently on our family tree and we’ve been able to teach our kids some very important information about whom they come from. Learning all this history got me to thinking….you know, one day, I will be someone’s ancestor. How are my actions now going to impact the generations to come. Are you living a life that will benefit the future? I hope to help you live the best possible life for yourself and your future and I hope to inspire you to be the standard.

FOMO, or the fear of missing out, may sound like just another silly acronym, but, in actuality, it is wrecking havoc on many people’s lives. People are choosing what to do, where to go, what to try, and what to be apart of, not because they actually want to do these things, but because of the fear that if they don’t do these things, they’ll miss out on something important. When you make decisions based on fear, nothing good comes from it, so in today’s episode I want to discuss what causes FOMO, and most importantly, how to stop operating from a place of fear and start operating from your own desires. And so I hope to inspire you to miss out.
