Detective Christopher Nichols of the Maywood Police Department was the first officer to introduce a scent-specific dog in Bergen County. His K9 companion, Remi, receives calls all over Bergen County to assist in missing persons cases as well as ongoing criminal investigations. Remi is currently the only bloodhound in the county trained to locate individuals after a single sniff of their scent from an article of clothing or even a few drops of blood. Officer Nichols and Remi discuss how the program works in Maywood and the possibility of expanding the use of more bloodhounds throughout Bergen County.
