Claude Silver is Chief Heart Officer at VaynerMedia, where she's spent 12 years building culture under Gary Vaynerchuk, and author of the new book Be Yourself at Work: The Groundbreaking Power of Showing Up, Standing Out, and Leading from the Heart. In this conversation, Claude opens up about the 93-day wilderness expedition in the Colorado Rockies at age 19 that taught her she could choose the voice in her own head, a lesson that still shapes how she leads today. She and Eric dig into the real difference between authenticity and oversharing at work, why "emotional optimism" is the hardest skill for leaders to build, how she managed six months in a workplace that wasn't safe for her to be herself, and what Gary Vaynerchuk is actually like behind the public persona. They also trade honest stories about the personal cost of writing a book, for Claude, two years of COVID-era starts and stops; for Eric, a marriage that quietly took the hit while he wrote his own.

This show is dedicated to Claude's journey, this conversation is what we make it. This is Counsel Culture.

My guest today is Lisa Conners — executive and leadership coach, keynote speaker, and the creator of a body of work called Generative Power and Generative Leadership. Lisa is also on her way to becoming an author, with her upcoming book Name Yourself exploring the power of creating and stepping into new identities.

In this conversation, Lisa and I dig into what it means to lead generatively — continuously evolving as a leader, an individual, and a human while carrying forward everything you've learned along the way. We talk about the courage it takes to name yourself something new (Lisa is officially becoming a drummer), why speaking your goals out loud into the world makes them real, and how the people you surround yourself with can either push you forward or hold you back.

We also get into:

  • The art of self-leadership and learning from every interaction
  • Why public speaking terrifies most people — and how Lisa went from frozen in front of a room to owning the stage
  • How disc, predictive index, and personality assessments help us understand not just ourselves, but the people we lead
  • The role of conflict in growth (and why "Minnesota nice" isn't always so nice)
  • Navigating identity, vulnerability, and what to reveal in any given moment
  • The next iteration: how Lisa decides what's next and gives herself permission to chase it

Lisa's energy is contagious, her optimism is grounded, and her message is one every leader needs to hear: you get to keep creating who you become.

This show is dedicated to Lisa's journey, this conversation is what we make it. This is Counsel Culture.

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric sits down with Kent Chevalier, Pittsburgh Steelers chaplain, keynote speaker, and author of the brand-new book Do It Afraid, for a conversation about courage, calling, and the faith it takes to jump before you can see the landing.

Kent opens up about the pivotal decision he and his wife Erica made to walk away from two full-time jobs and step into one of the most unique ministry environments in professional sports. That leap, and the LEAP decision-making framework he built from it, forms the heartbeat of his new book. He and Eric explore what it looks like to pray through a decision, not just to it, and why courage doesn't show up before the first step. It shows up after.

The conversation takes a candid turn as Kent pulls back the curtain on the human side of the NFL: the players, the trades, the families, and the marriages behind the helmets. He shares a legendary story about Coach Mike Tomlin that reframed the way Kent thinks about servant leadership, and unpacks his Deflect the Glory movement, which began as a chapel message on the Steelers' sideline and has since raised over $50,000 for Pittsburgh nonprofits.

Eric brings his own story to the table, 21 years of marriage, seven kids, and hard decisions made without a five-year plan, making this one of the most personal and honest conversations the show has produced.

In this episode, you'll learn: · What the LEAP framework is and how to use it when you can't see what's ahead · Why the NFL is the tip of the spear for what's coming in broader culture · How servant leadership looks in practice, not just in theory · What it means to deflect glory in a world obsessed with personal brand · Why the most powerful thing a leader can say is "I'll go first"

This episode is dedicated to Kent's journey and to every person standing on the edge of a decision they're afraid to make. This conversation is what we make it. This is Counsel Culture.

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric sits down with culture strategist, speaker, and author Nathan Schock for a wide-ranging conversation about culture, clarity, and why sustainable growth always starts with identity.

Nathan reflects on a pivotal season in his life as a father of three adult daughters, sharing the gratitude and perspective that comes from walking through transition with his family. That grounding leads into a deeper exploration of his professional journey—from building a successful customer experience firm to realizing that systems fail when culture is unclear. What began as customer experience work ultimately evolved into a mission to help organizations define who they are before deciding what they do.

Eric and Nathan explore why proximity once carried culture in early-stage companies, why growth exposes what was never documented, and how leaders lose engagement when expectations remain unspoken. Drawing from real-world examples across retail, hospitality, and global brands, Nathan explains why culture isn't enforced through rules or memos, but formed through identity, clarity, and consistent modeling.

The conversation also dives into the role of human connection in an AI-driven world. Nathan challenges the idea that efficiency equals experience, arguing instead that technology should create more space for presence, trust, and relationship capital—not replace them. From Chick-fil-A to Disney to everyday leadership moments, he illustrates how small, intentional behaviors compound into enduring cultures.

They close with a practical discussion on employee engagement, why people don't quit companies but quit confusion, and the importance of giving teams a clear definition of success. Nathan also shares the question he believes leaders should ask more often: where are you going—and what kind of life are you building along the way?

In this episode, you'll learn:

· Why culture must be defined before it can scale · How clarity drives engagement at every level of an organization · Why customer experience always reflects internal culture · The difference between service efficiency and human experience · How AI should support presence, not replace connection · Why identity shapes behavior more than policies ever will

This episode is dedicated to Nathan's journey and the lessons formed through leadership, family, and faith. This conversation is a reminder that culture isn't something you install—it's something you live. This conversation is what we make it.

This is Counsel Culture.

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric sits down with executive coach, author, and former corporate leader Cory Carlson for a grounded conversation about leadership, burnout, and why success at work eventually collapses when life at home is neglected. Cory reflects on a recent personal loss that renewed his sense of urgency around intentional living and clarified his mission to help leaders win at home first.

Cory shares his path from civil engineer to sales executive to full-time coach, including the season when imposter syndrome and pressure at the top began to erode his health, presence, and priorities. He explains how hiring a coach reshaped not just his performance, but how he showed up as a husband, father, and leader, and why so many high performers mistake busyness for effectiveness.

Eric and Cory explore why leaders can't compartmentalize their lives, how personal stress inevitably shows up at work, and why avoiding personal conversations with team members limits both trust and performance. Cory challenges the idea that leaders at the top have it all figured out, drawing from years of coaching executives who look successful externally but are often struggling internally.

The conversation dives into burnout, purpose, and identity. Cory explains why burnout doesn't come from forgetting how to work, but from forgetting why we work, and shares the framework he uses to help leaders reconnect with purpose and priorities. They close with practical insights on journaling, reflection, and daily rhythms that sustain leaders over decades, not quarters.

In this episode, you'll learn:

· Why winning at home first is essential for sustainable leadership · How imposter syndrome quietly undermines performance · The difference between being busy and being effective · Why personal conversations drive better leadership outcomes · How purpose anchors leaders during burnout · Simple habits that build clarity, resilience, and alignment

This episode is dedicated to Cory's journey and the lessons forged along the way. This conversation is a reminder that leadership is not about arrival, but alignment. This conversation is what we make it.

This, is Counsel Culture.

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric Brooker sits down for a deeply human conversation about hardship, presence, and what it really means to show up for others.

The discussion moves from personal crisis to professional leadership, exploring how adversity reshapes identity, relationships, and perspective. Together, they examine why small moments matter more than we think, how teams and families grow stronger through shared struggle, and what happens when leaders choose clarity, consistency, and care over avoidance.

This is a conversation about resilience without bravado, leadership without performance, and the quiet power of being present—at work, at home, and in the moments that matter most.

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric sits down with organizational health pioneer Patrick Lencioni for a rich, honest conversation about work, faith, family, and why leadership is far more about responsibility than reward. Pat shares how, at 59, he hit pause to confront long-buried wounds, and how that season of healing reshaped the way he leads, loves his family, and serves the people around him.

Pat traces the origin story of The Table Group, his longtime fascination with the workplace, and how his Catholic faith now sits at the very center of his work. From parenting moments that involve teenage traffic tickets to power being shut off at home, he uses real life to illustrate why vulnerability, forgiveness, and humility are non-negotiables, whether you're leading a company or a family.

Eric and Pat dig into two of Pat's most influential ideas: meaningful conflict and vulnerability-based trust. They unpack why conflict-avoidant leaders quietly damage teams, how attachment styles show up in meetings, and why the simple words "I was wrong, please forgive me" might be the most powerful leadership tool we have. Pat also explains the Six Types of Working Genius, how his wiring differs from Eric's, and why our gifts and gaps are designed to pull us toward deeper dependence on one another.

The conversation closes with a look at culture, both at work and at home. Pat connects his "chaos family" framework with The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, explains how to spot a company's real values by watching executives, and revisits his book The Motive to ask why we pursue leadership in the first place. He finishes with the simple spiritual disciplines that now bookend his day and quietly anchor everything else.

In this episode, you'll learn:

· What it looks like to surrender your career to God's will and rediscover work as ministry

· How vulnerability, forgiveness, and "owning your stuff" build deep trust on teams and in families

· Why healthy conflict is about the pursuit of truth, not winning arguments

· How the Working Genius model reveals your gifts, your frustrations, and your need for others

· Practical ways to discern the real culture of an organization, beyond the words on the wall

· The five core responsibilities many leaders quietly abdicate (and how to reclaim them)

· Simple daily rhythms of prayer that can transform how you lead, love, and live

This episode is dedicated to Pat's journey. This conversation is what we make it. This, is Counsel Culture.

This week on Counsel Culture, I sit down with Dr. Beth Kaplan, author of Braving the Workplace, for an honest conversation about belonging, leadership, and what it really means to show up as yourself at work.

We explore the tension many people feel between authenticity and fitting in, and why so many professionals silently trade pieces of who they are just to feel accepted. Dr. Kaplan shares practical insights on self-awareness, boundaries, and the role leaders play in creating environments where people feel seen, not just managed.

This episode is a reminder: belonging isn't about blending in. It's about being valued for who you are.

If you're a leader, aspiring leader, or someone simply trying to navigate culture with integrity, you'll want to hear this one.

What You'll Learn

  • Why belonging is deeply personal—not one-size-fits-all
  • How conformity quietly erodes confidence and connection
  • The role self-awareness plays in shaping how we show up
  • The power of vulnerability in leadership
  • How thoughtful, intentional care builds trust and performance
  • Why boundaries and non-negotiables matter in protecting authenticity

In this episode of Counsel Culture, Eric sits down with national champion, former UNC head coach, and executive coach Matt Doherty for a candid conversation about leadership, culture, and the kind of personal transformation that only comes through adversity. From playing alongside Michael Jordan to being fired from his dream job at North Carolina, Matt opens up about identity, ego, and what it really takes to rebuild your life and leadership from the inside out.

Together, Eric and Matt dig into why culture is king, why talent without character will eventually break your team, and how the best leaders move from transactional to transformational influence. Matt shares stories from the court, the locker room, and the boardroom, plus the deeply personal decision that changed everything: his journey to sobriety and how it reshaped his marriage, his coaching, and his purpose.

This episode is about truth-telling, accountability, and the courage to be coached, no matter how successful you are on paper. Whether you're leading a team, raising a family, or trying to become the kind of person others can trust, this conversation will challenge you to raise your standards for yourself and the culture around you.

Now, extraordinary leaders and professionals at many of the most respected organizations, associations, and government agencies in the world—from American Express to American Airlnes, Hilton to Nespresso, Microsoft to Prudential, and even the US Airforce - trust Sylvie to help them make the right decisions to grow their brands and bottom lines.

Building on her five cornerstones of Modern Emotional Intelligence—visual, behavioral, verbal, digital, and social intelligence—she gives her audiences the Power of Choice to determine their greatest outcomes in leadership, sales, and customer experience. She takes them on a thought-provoking and immersive journey through the brain, the mind, from the unconscious to the conscious—and ultimately to the heights of personal, professional, and organizational success.

She is one of fewer than 12 percent of speakers worldwide who received the Certified Speaking Professional designation, 11-time award winner, the author of "The Image of Leadership," and the “Discover Your Fair Advantage: Leverage Your Unique Selling Points and Human Potential for Work, Business and Life,” and the mind behind dozens of innovative mobile online courses, including "How You Impress".

When she is not working, she is volunteering with the National Speakers Association and the Global Speakers Federation. When she is not volunteering, she is racing more than 102 floors in the stairwells of some of the highest buildings around the world, cruising around on her boat in sunny Florida, or she is spending time with he two wonderful teenage children who test her emotional intelligence e.v.e.r.y single day.

The book launch is today! We did it and I can't thank you enough. Each and every one of you. Thank you for joining me on this journey and thank you for being by my side each step of the way. A special thanks to my longtime friend and the host of today's show, Ryan O'Hara.

In the midst of personal heartache, including my sister-in-law's passing from alcohol addiction and my estrangement from my eldest daughter, I embarked on a healing journey. As I confronted deep-seated childhood wounds, I faced a relentless sense of inadequacy. However, in this book, I share my transformative journey, leading to the realization that I am enough, and so are you!

We delve into the impact of feeling unworthy, recounting tales of despair, such as Kevin Berthia's near-suicide on The Golden Gate Bridge, and the Berns Family's tragic loss. Yet, amidst darkness, we also share stories of resilience and affirmation of self-worth.

Meet inspirational figures such as authors John O'Leary and Waldo Waldman, keynote speaker Andre Norman, and former Starbucks President, Jim Alling. They too discovered that, despite life-altering situations, they were enough.

This book isn't just a testament to transformation; it offers tangible tools for change. Learn how to be present, authentic, and meaningfully connected. Embark on this journey with me. Let's embrace our worth and unlock our limitless potential.

This show is dedicated to you; the listener, the reader, the observer. This conversation is what we make it. This is Counsel Culture. You Are Enough! Learn more at www.ericbrooker.com | Find the book on Amazon by searching; "You Are Enough Eric Brooker"

Good leaders maintain steady teams, achieve reasonable growth, and are comfortable in their authority. But great leaders recognize that unparalleled success comes from always seeking to improve. The stakes of leadership are higher than ever, and operating with maximum effectiveness is not only desirable but also imperative.

What the world’s most influential leaders know is that the secret to achieving that effectiveness is becoming coachable.

And in order to do so, one must be ready to engage in the process of betterment, starting with investing in yourself in order to give the most back to your organization, team, and the world.

That’s where executive coaching comes in.

Imbued with decades of experience at the highest echelons of the industry, Becoming Coachable guides readers through the ins and outs of a successful coaching experience. Scott Osman, Jacquelyn Lane, and Marshall Goldsmith identify key leadership archetypes and unpack the intricacies of a typical engagement. My guest today is Chris Bentley.

Chris is the Founder and Former CEO of Bellatorum Resources and Author of Burning Bellatorum: The Story of a Forty Million Dollar Fraud and its Priceless Lessons for Investors and Entrepreneur.

To frame out this conversation, below is a portion of his LinkedIn post from the day before this podcast was published.

"Yesterday afternoon I officially became a convicted felon and pleaded guilty to wire fraud.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 16th. I requested to have the sentencing and pleading done in one hearing but was denied that request by the prosecution. Their stance is that the investors need time to be heard. I've been messaged directly by a handful of investors asking why I'm not in jail yet. They think I'm the one stalling and dragging this thing out to avoid jail time. I assure you that's not the case. I'm ready to get this over with and start on a path toward redemption. This holding pattern/purgatory phase is not my preference at all. As Tom Petty sang, "The waiting is the hardest part.""

After working on numerous local, state, and national political campaigns, Scott joined the Disney Development Company where for nearly four years he was part of the team that designed and built the famed city of Celebration, Florida (Walt Disney’s original vision for EPCOT Center).

Scott’s professional roles evolved as he became a multi-bestselling author, radio and podcast host, leadership coach, columnist, and global keynote speaker. He continues to consult with FranklinCovey and is proud to continue their collaboration as he expands his own influence through new books, speeches, and coaching offerings.

Ever since Merril Hoge was eight-years-old, he dreamed of being a professional football player. Growing up in a small town in Idaho, the goal seemed unrealistic. But Merril didn’t just dream about this goal. From that young age, he used the words “Find A Way” to take action to overcome any obstacle and to attain any goal. Today, as he continues to strive towards his own goals, he also uses his Find A Way philosophy as a parenting tool, and challenges his children, Kori and Beau, to Find A Way to achieve their goals, overcome obstacles and take ownership of their lives.

As a graduate of Idaho State University with a degree in education and a minor in health and fitness, Merril was a four-year football starter who set 44 school and conference records and two NCAA football records.

Merril made his childhood dream a reality when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played until 1993 and led the team in rushing and receiving in four of his first five years, setting a record in his third year for receptions by a running back. He was the Steelers Iron Man of the Year two years in a row (1989 and 1990) and was named to the All-Madden team in 1989. In 1993, Merril went to the Chicago Bears as a free agent, where he played for one year until he was forced to retire early due to post-concussion syndrome. At the time of his retirement, Merril had the longest consecutive playing streak in the NFL.

Merril joined ESPN in 1995 as a football analyst and sideline reporter, where he quickly distinguished himself through his in-depth knowledge of the game and his strong relationships with the coaches and players in the National Football League.

In 2003, the habits and mindset that Merril formulated throughout his childhood and carried into adulthood, helped him Find A Way to overcome the ultimate challenge – cancer. Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma on Merril took on chemotherapy and beat cancer with the same tenacity that got him to the NFL Through the difficult moments, Merril found inspiration through his daughter Kori, then nine, who upon hearing the news, whispered, “Dad, find a way.” On July 2, 2003, Merril was cancer-free.For all of his life accomplishments as an athlete and businessman, Merril’s biggest impact can be felt within his family and community.

Scott McKain is my guest today. Scott’s matchless experiences have continued throughout his life. They range from playing the villain in a film that Roger Ebert called one of the 50 “great movies” in cinema history to being booked to speak by Arnold Schwarzenegger for an event on the White House lawn with the President in the audience; from being the author of business books named among the “year’s ten best” to membership of multiple Boards of Directors.

The tapestry of Scott McKain’s distinctive experiences have blended to create the inimitable content that makes him one of the world’s most in-demand business experts and speakers

Scott first became interested in business — and creating Ultimate Customer Experiences® — while helping in the family business, the grocery store in his hometown of Crothersville, Indiana.

By age 21, Scott had chatted with the President in the Oval Office, lunched with the President of Brazil, had a private meeting with the Chairman of General Motors, and dined with the real-life Colonel Sanders.

These unique experiences as a youth inspired both a passion for the platform and a fascination with business and leadership that continues to this day.

Scott has delivered over 2000 presentations in 36 countries across six of the seven continents helping audiences create more compelling connections, provide ultimate customer experiences and stand out personally and professionally.

Scott shares his distinctive ideas and iconic speaking style to the most important events in the world and has been honored with the following:

  • Currently “Corporate Educator in Residence” at High Point University, named by U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s “most innovative” university.
  • He has been honored with induction into the “Professional Speakers Hall of Fame.”
  • He was selected to join Seth Godin, Zig Ziglar, and Dale Carnegie as one of about 25 members of the “Sales and Marketing Hall of Fame.”

Our guest today is former olympian and coach, Joe Delagrave

He is passionate about servant leadership, connecting with others, and inspiring/motivating people to find their passion and purpose intersection in both career and life. As a keynote speaker he helps his audiences realize that we all have a choice in not being defined by our circumstances. Most of us fall into the trap of using our circumstances as an excuse for where we are instead of reaching for our full potential.

Joe hasn’t let his paralysis since the age of 19 keep him from dreaming, setting goals, taking action, and realizing those goals. His career in wheelchair rugby, his roles in leadership, and his life experiences have helped him realize we get a choice! Joe’s audiences leave his keynotes understanding that it’s on us to look into the mirror and choose to play the victim card or have a victor mindset! Our obstacles we face in life present us with opportunities to learn how to implement our passions and find the connection to its purpose.

Our guest today is none other than Ron Carucci.

Ron has a thirty-year track record helping executives tackle challenges of strategy, organization, and leadership — from start-ups to Fortune 10s, non-profits to heads-of-state, turn-arounds to new markets and strategies, overhauling leadership and culture to re-designing for growth. With experience in more than 25 countries on 4 continents, he helps organizations articulate strategies that lead to accelerated growth, and then designs programs to execute those strategies. The best-selling author of eight books, including the Amazon #1 Rising to Power and his recently released To Be Honest: Lead with the Power of Truth, Justice and Purpose, Ron is a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review, where his companies Navalent’s work on leadership was named one of 2016’s management ideas that mattered most. He is also a regular contributor to Forbes, and a two-time TEDx speaker. His work’s been featured in Fortune, CEO Magazine, Inc., BusinessInsider, MSNBC, Business Week, Smart Business and now The Counsel Culture Podcast.

His greatest joy is seeing leaders thrive by impacting the lives of those they lead. Helping leaders find their voice and use it to serve their organization’s greater good is what gets him up every morning. In his office, Ron keeps a collection of antique door knobs, door knockers, and skeleton keys. Every day, they remind him that life is about finding and pursuing the open doors in front of you and making sure those doors open for others. In the morning, one of his favorite routines is picking the coffee mug in the conference room from among his collection. Each mug hails from a difference experience and person in his life and helps him begin his day remembering to be grateful for all those in his life who’ve been part of his story.

My guest today is former NFL athlete, Joe Hawley. Joe Hawley played for the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.

Believe it or not, we don’t spend much time talking about his NFL career today but rather we discuss an adventure that changed his life forever.

Like most former pro athletes, Joe faced some deep existential questions following the decision to walk away from the game, most notably, “who is Joe without this thing he spent my entire life pursuing greatness at?” Answering this question became the focus of his life and led him down a path towards his own self-discovery and healing. Following his retirement from the NFL, he donated his belongings, bought a van, and traveled the country for two years -- a journey that changed his life forever. Joe desires to understand himself more fully and find deeper meaning and purpose in life.

His passion now includes curating sacred space for other elite-level athletes, entrepreneurs and visionaries who are on the path, seeking deeper healing, growth and connections

My guest today is Olympian, Ruben González.

Ruben took up the sport of luge when he was 21 years old after being inspired by watching figure skater Scott Hamilton win the gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

Because of his inspirational story, Ruben González was selected to be a torchbearer at the Salt Lake City Olympics.

My guest today is Joe Colovito. His book is; Purpose is More than a Side Hustle.

After graduating from Penn State he chased after a higher paycheck and lower golf handicap for 16 years before he realized he was on the wrong road. He didn’t know who he was (identity) why he was there, and how he was uniquely designed to make life better for others (purpose).

His identity crisis fueled a dysfunctional desire to measure his success solely based on his performance (increased income and decreased golf handicap) at the expense of creating meaningful relationships, missions and moments with his family, friends and co-workers. He was all about himself, all the time.

Although Life #1 quickly led his family into what appeared to be “the good life” - a country club lifestyle, fancy vacations, nice cars, and attractive social media posts - on inside his life didn’t feel good at all. Joe felt stuck in a story he never set out to write, and eventually found himself running on empty.

In contrast, Life #2 led him into a purpose-driven, other-centered lifestyle, that at first seemed difficult and draining, but eventually left him feeling energized, focused and joy-full in every meaningful aspect of his career + life.

My guest today is none other than Sarah Wells.

Sarah is an Olympic hurdler and Pan Am Silver Medalist and has learned how to overcome hurdles both literally and figuratively. During her pursuit of the London Olympics, she was sidelined for months just the year before due to injury, but was able to finish as an Olympic semi-finalist and one of the youngest competitors in the field. There is a whole other story about when she pursued her second Olympic games, but we will save that for our conversation today.

Outside of competitive sports, she coaches people to pursue their goals through the Believe Initiative, an organization she founded on—fittingly—a message of resilience. Through the Believe Initiative, she has helped over 120,000 students across North America understand the importance of being resilient and the power of believing in themselves. In the corporate world, she has worked with organizations such as Salesforce, Deloitte, Proctor and Gamble, Kraft-Heinz, Bell Media, and RBC on how to build more resilient teams through keynotes and customized workshops.

Sarah recognizes not everyone is going to have that, teacher, coach or person in their lives, who believes in them, so the Believe Initiative was created in 2017 to be that person for as many people as possible.

The book and her practice help human-centered leaders resolve workplace ambiguity and chaos, so you can drive innovation, productivity, and revenue without burning out employees.

The one common denominator of the world’s most successful people is that they have all failed. They all took risks and flopped. They’ve created businesses nobody cared about, made films nobody wanted to see, wrote words nobody wanted to read, and made music nobody wanted to listen to.

And yet, each and every one of them became the successful people they are, not in spite of, but because of those misfires, flops, and failures. So, what makes the rest of us dare to think that we should run from the very things that made them who they are? And what if chasing failure was actually the quickest way to succeed?

Join me today as we connect with Ryan Leak to discuss his book, Chasing Failure.

In all things Jesse Iwuji does, there are two constant elements: his devotion to service and his inspirational nature to many. Jesse went from competing at the top level of Division-1A college football to rising the ranks of the military as a Lieutenant Commander, and is now the only current driver in all of NASCAR at the national levels that actively serves his country as a US Military member.

It has been key for Iwuji, who is currently serving in our country’s reserve fighting force, to honor his country while pursuing excellence in the business world as a business owner and on the track as a driver. It should come as no surprise that he has championed companies and charities that give back to our men and women in uniform.

Jesse is also a big supporter of NASCAR diversity, equity, and inclusion. Today he is one of two African Americans competing at NASCARs national level of racing. He was honored by NASCAR for two years in a row – the Diverse Driver of the Year Award. He is well versed both on and off the track!
