Remember the marks on the wall? Measured in inches and years, parents chart the growth of their children with a semi-permanent reminder etched into a wall or door frame—a visual declaration of growth.
Your spiritual growth has marks too, but with one difference: growth is optional. And the choice is yours.
The growth you seek is not found at the end of the road of guilt or determined effort. Instead, Ephesians shows us a path to growth that is surprisingly accessible.

It's Thrive Weekend at Cape Cod Church—one of the most important weekends of the year for our church, the church on Cape Cod and our communities. At least, that's how I see it.
We start Friday night with a Cape-wide united night of worship (7pm), followed by a full-day conference on Saturday (8:30am-3:30pm).
Then we finish with a Sunday celebration—one service, all together (10am)—talking about the power you may be missing in your life from Ephesians 3.
Oh… and it's Daylight Saving Time. An extra hour… what a weekend!

The Olympics often bring out the best in sport and in patriotic fervor. Countries competing without killing — that was the original idea in 1896 when the Games were revived in Athens, Greece.
Ephesians uses the imagery, passion, and language of citizens and nations to declare a new way of understanding our identity. When it works, Jesus said it would be the most powerful proof of Christ in us.
A new way of thinking indeed.

Maybe understanding where it came from - how it is part of the oldest battle in the universe - will help us find a better way. Maybe seeing Jesus in his own battle with 'better than will show us a better way.

Life is full of comparison; our measures all seem to be set against someone else.
Is all comparison healthy? Is there a better way to see people—especially those we feel competitive with? Can we really change something so fundamental as comparison?

The GOAT… Greatest of All Time… what a great title—the pinnacle.
Greatest. Ever.
That must be nice… for the one. For as long as it lasts. The rest of us are left chasing the GOAT.
We have a GOAT problem. We spend our lives striving to be better than, comparing ourselves, covered in the dust of competition, but never really feeling like winners.
There is a better way than "better than."
From the earliest stories of Scripture to the words of Jesus, God offers us a way out of soul-emptying competition and into something that truly motivates and satisfies.

It all comes together to remind us that what we believe matters. Our actions and sense of urgency are all built on a foundation of beliefs—but what if we didn't know? What if we had it wrong? Changing course and admitting we're wrong is rare. Yet, 200 years ago, the story of Awakening would have its most lasting impact when one man admitted he was wrong.
It was a brave move, and it changed the spiritual temperature of Cape Cod for over 50 years.

In 1809 on Monday, April 24, a young man named Barnabas Bates came to Falmouth. The sermon he preached would spark a remarkable awakening. But it wasn't just in Falmouth: God was about to stir up revival in Sandwich, Mashpee, Barnstable, and on Martha's Vineyard... It's a story you have to hear.
History may not always repeat itself, but it does tend to rhyme. This is the story of 1809, but it could also be the story of today. In this message, we'll explore what exactly God comes to do, and what an awakening looks like. We're praying for awakening: "God do it again… in me and on Cape Cod."

Wanting has a negative stereotype, but in prayer; it’s invited. It's the way of the people who follow Jesus. Wanting declares we want something more—we need something more. “I want” is the cry of couples, parents, the hurting, addicts, and the anxious.
What we want is an awakening, a revival of something in us and maybe around us. That’s what I want.

What does it look like to confidently share our faith? Most of us wish we could. The problem is, we don't always know how. Over the course of this series, we've been taking lessons from the life of Peter. For the most part, he's been a pretty relatable guy: impulsive, outspoken, and frequently in the wrong! But this week we meet Peter on the other side of his failures, and find a totally changed man... one who is remarkably confident. The weekend after Easter! At Cape Cod Church, we celebrate this with Baptism—a service where people celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ through the symbolic act of baptism. We celebrate this together with dozens of people declaring their faith in the waters of Baptism. It’s a service like no other at Cape Cod Church. The aftermath of the crucifixion and the resurrection was a new world. It’s not always visible or obvious, but something changed that—a new kingdom, a new king. This changes the way we look at the world, how we treat people, what we pray for, and how we live… it’s kingdom math, and it’s different.

Stepping out in faith often brings anxious feelings as we prepare ourselves for the "big leap." But laughter? It’s an interesting way to dig a bit deeper, and I like it. So, let’s try this: How is your faith on a scale of 1–10? Do you find believing a challenge? Do you experience worry or uncertainty where you wish there was steadfast faith? And maybe more importantly, is there anything we can do about it? Can we grow our faith? A part of the joy of Christmas is the element of surprise. Under the tree, a collection of bags and boxes sits neatly (or sometimes not so neatly) wrapped. Surprise is an essential part of the story. It has been that way since the very beginning. Christmas itself is a surprise. We often expect one thing when searching for life's answers, yet Jesus surprises us. Two of the four biographies of Jesus detail His birth—one skips it entirely, while the fourth can't help but reveal the unexpected. It’s not just about how Jesus was born; it’s about why He was born, what it means, and how it brings joy to life. That’s what made it so surprising to the writer.

Last Sunday, many of us gathered at the beach after church to celebrate the baptism of 58 people as they publicly proclaimed their faith in Jesus! It was a beautiful day filled with cheering, tears of joy, and laughter. With over 100 people there to celebrate with us, it was truly a community event. "Community" is a word we use a lot at church—mostly because it's something we all need and desire. In fact, it's one of the main reasons we come to church in the first place: to find "our people." We admit it--we may bit addicted to the Olympics. We watched a badminton gold medal match between Denmark and Thailand! The modern Olympics began in 1896, but what makes the Olympic Games truly fascinating is their ancient origins. They originally ran for over 1,000 years (796 BC - 393 AD) and were even part of Paul’s story. In the next chapter of our road trip with Paul, we find him using the popular sporting competition of his day to illustrate a better way to live fully.
This weekend, we put it all together as we celebrate our Live Fully Sports Camps—cheering on some little champions and welcoming many new families visiting for the first time! We finished the series with ice cream sandwiches for everyone—now that’s a closing ceremony!

The Bible speaks directly to those who identify as followers of Jesus. The term ‘Exceptionalism’ would probably best describe them—the condition of being distinct. It’s essential to note that being exceptional doesn’t mean being superior; rather, it signifies embracing a different path.
In this Sunday message, we look at how exceptionalism comes into play as we journey through life, facing various challenges. All people go through some of the same situations. The pivotal question within our unique stories isn’t merely how we navigate some of these same trials but, more importantly, how we emerge from them!

For the past few weeks, we have been running, kicking, and shooting in our Live Fully Sports camps. Nearly 200 kids registered, and a few dozen volunteers from our church and community took part.
Live Fully Sports camps are one way we serve our community—offering free sports camp experiences to all. And this Sunday, we finish it all off with a celebration, where we get the kids up on stage and give out some prizes and awards.
This year, in addition to the camp celebration, we decided this would be a great opportunity to feature our youth and youth leaders from across the church. So, this Sunday looks a bit different—and a bit younger—from the front door to the stage! Why? Well, we're invested in the next generation, and we love seeing them step up and serve, and we want to celebrate their growing faith.

What do you say to the Christian who is doing pretty well?
This little letter is jampacked with crowd favorites, including “Rejoice in the Lord always… Don’t be anxious about anything… Whatever is true, whatever is noble… To live is Christ, to die is gain… I can do all things through Christ…”
Maybe one of the reasons it’s so inspiring is because the author, Paul, was really happy when he wrote it! His friends in Philippi were killing it.
But, Paul still manages to write four chapters of advice to his friends. This letter is more than a pat on the back (or a collection of cross-stitch-worthy sayings): it’s an invitation to take a step further–to keep growing in surprising ways.

One of the most famous conversations with Jesus recorded in Scripture was with a doubter—a skeptic. Thomas didn’t start that way. He was a believer and a follower of Jesus. The event around the crucifixion proved too much; not even the assurances of friends could sway him. Thomas was not buying it.

We all know honesty is a good idea. But how is this hard? What are we hiding from? What are we afraid of?

As we wrap up our series “Signs of Life”, we have two more guests, this time from right across the street - Habitat for Humanity and Cape Kid Meals. We’ll hear stories about faith, love, and generosity in action – through building homes for families and providing meals for the kids.
Even though our beautiful peninsula is a resort destination with abundant wealth, many of our neighbors still struggle to access affordable housing, sufficient nutritious food, low-cost transportation and even basic supplies like baby diapers.
As a church, we're committed to partnering with local organizations to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need - because that's what Jesus calls us to do. And this Sunday, we announce two more big projects that will give you a chance to "Pray, Give and Go" to serve our neighbors right here on Cape Cod!

John has maybe the most envious moniker of all… ”The Disciple Jesus Loved.”
Famous for his first-hand biography, the Gospel of John, he also wrote three letters for us (and the Book of Revelation), and in them he offers a vision for our lives. It’s a vision of freedom that pulls the past and future plan of God into a present reality. In other words, it’s already begun...and when we see even a bit of what has begun with Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection, it changes us in unavoidable ways.
This is where freedom begins!
