He regularly defends people alleged to have ties with criminal organizations, and conducts both trials and appeals at all levels of court in Canada.

Brooke spoke about her 20-plus years of experience helping people who have committed heinous crimes, get a chance at a purposeful life after a lengthy penitentiary sentence.
Brooke also explained why she believes incarceration isn’t necessarily the best option, the challenges of operating a halfway house on an absurdly small budget, people not understanding the criminal justice system and thinking people convicted of crimes like murder should serve longer sentences, the changes she wishes to see in the justice system, and the ongoing issues with the elderly and sick people in prison or halfway houses serving unnecessary sentences.
Along with the heartbreaks Brooke has endured when a resident is sent back to prison, she spoke on the more-often positive outcomes that come through the outreach programs St. Leonard’s offers, how St. Leonard’s assists with employment, the success stories, as well as all of the highs and lows that come with working with humans viewed as society’s lowest, and how these people continue to defy the odds when given a chance.

Effy Zarabi pledged to become a police officer to help rid communities of criminals, bullies and wrong-doers, never giving a second thought that she'd be victimized by people who took the same oath.

Zarabi (@shades_dirty) about her incredible story, which started in Iran, carried through her tumultuous high school years in Canada, and seemed to finish when she fulfilled her goal of becoming a police officer.
The fight of her life came after.
Zarabi, who worked out of Toronto's 51 Division, endured sexual harassment and abuse, physical assault from a coworker, and racism and discrimination from her male colleagues. The battle left her suffering from PTSD and holding a hefty legal bill, yet zero personal resolution. Although the union turned its back on her, superior officers left her stranded and fellow victims were too afraid to speak up, Zarabi is still standing. Now she is swinging back.
Zarabi uncovered instances of hushed behavior by the Toronto police toward civilians, including police brutality, racism, sexism, various forms of abuse, and unjust treatment of the mentally ill. She revealed how the problems are consistent throughout the criminal justice system, and not solely in the police departments.

Lush One, from day one.
The Building Downtown (@TheBuildingDT) hosts Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Amy Barton (@amesbelle) talked to Uno about his history in hip hop.
Lush started with his early hip hop influences, such as Ice T, then spoke in depth about his memories of the LA Riots, the after effects, how rap music was affected by it, and how growing up as hip-hop head in a segregated location such as Los Angeles, allowed him to have a unique upbringing in the battle rap and hip hop culture.
Lush went on to detail his early days in battle rap, linking up with Dizaster, history with Organik, battling in Grand Time, and working with Grind Time, as well as King of the Dot. He also talked about other Canadian battlers, such as Kid Twist, and the importance of the Elements League.
Being the marquee person when it comes to battle rap intros, Lush gave his thoughts and opinion on who is the best, and why they are the best.
As far as battlers Lush has not had the chance to work with and wishes to, Loaded Lux and Murda Mook are at the top of the list. Lush explained how the close the opportunities have been, how far they are away, and what delays certain opportunities.
And as battlers he has worked with a lot and thinks we might see soon, Charron vs. Dizaster is at the top of the list. Lush talked about how Charron and Diz being out of the KOTD GP, raised the chance of seeing the long-anticipated match in the near future.
Lush talked about his involvement in the KOTD Grand Prix, his thoughts on the performances throughout, judging, backlash from the Dizaster vs. Frak decision, and the undercard to Saynt vs. Marvwon at the KOTD Finals on Jan. 10, live on Twitch.

Troy Daniels AKA King Fly is one of the intricate people in the functionality of King of the Dot, and the man behind the scenes gave a history lesson on KOTD and himself.

Daniels also spoke about designing the pay-per-view system for KOTD, working closely with Avocado, his role working in collaboration with Twitch and the difference between Twitch and PPV numbers.

Kasatskiy is fascinated by conspiracy theories and enjoys digging deeper than face value when facts are presented. Kelly, on the other hand, has a hard time buying into conspiracies. Together, the pair of hosts touched on a series of conspiracies, from the JFK murder, to moon landings, to pyramids, to government and police corruption, and what they believe the real story behind some of these things may be.
Kasatskiy expressed his thoughts with conviction, while Kelly played devil's advocate so they could have a conversation that will have Alex Jones yelling at Eddie Bravo again.

DJ Premier is a staple in hip culture and his beats have blessed some (most) of the best rappers of all time, even to this day. Kelly and Kasatskiy discussed some of his work, including Gang Starr, Diabolic, and other artists he has assisted with backdrop for their lyrics.
DJ Premier, like Dr Dre, Timbaland, Pharrell, or any of hip hop’s top producers, can create magic any given day, yet coupling with even an elite rapper can equate to a mix of water and oil. The hosts talked about odd combinations that could create classics or fall flat, such as Drake on a Primo beat.
Kasatskiy gave insight to the writing process of a hip hop song. He spoke on writing in different environments, working with an in-house producer, song structure and more.

Battle rap, much like the rest of the world, is under quarantine, but that hasn't stopped some of the industry's best from providing fans with content.
The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Amy Barton (@amesbelle) talked about some of the unique, creative ideas, such as Pat Stay's IG Live interviews, Avocado's bracket, Math Hoffa's My Expert Opinion (quarantined edition), quarantined battles, and humorous videos battlers have posted.
Pat Stay has been crushing the battle rap circuit for over a decade, but started a podcast called StayTUNED shortly before Covid-19 slammed the world. Stay, along with Quake Matthews, Miracle and Dickey to complete the StayTUNED panel of hosts, was picking up steam until they were forced to social distance. There is no reason to suspect StayTUNED will not return (God, we hope so), but Stay has used this time to produce an incredible guest list of IG Live interviews, including Shaq. Yes, Shaquille O'Neal. Yes, number 34 on the Lakers. The Big Aristotle.
Avocado has kept busy releasing battle rap-related content, but that's no surprise. However, his creative mind is consistently bringing new things to the game, like the battle rap bracket to determine which battler had the best three rounds combined over their entire career. Barton talked about why she enjoyed the idea, while Kelly explained his gripes with the idea. Either way, the pair of hosts firmly agreed Avocado can do no wrong and discussed some of the accomplishments he conquered outside battle rap, where he is known as Kyle Gray.
Kelly and Barton also talked about some of the other content being produced, if Stay will ever wear the KOTD chain again, how Joe Rogan and Drink Champs would serve different purposes depending on who the guest from battle rap is, Shaq being a battle rap fan and being a rapper, and a few battles we are looking forward to once the world is allowed outside again, such as Pat Stay vs. K-Shine.

The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Rizzo (@rearnakedchoke) talked about starting an MMA website in a different time.
Things like UStream, WordPress, and physical social networking were the method to success in the Silver Star sponsorship days of MMA. It is a new age, when anyone can create a platform and spew out drivel without any regard for quality. Rizzo's foray into the sport of MMA is one that should not only be appreciated, but also used as an educational tool to learned from.
Kelly and Rizzo were introduced to each other over a phone call in December 2010, which was set up by Conner Cordova. It was an opportunity Kelly took seriously as he prepared to advance in combat sports media and be aligned with the likes of Rizzo, Hector Castro, Rob Tatum, Bryan Henderson, and the rest of the staff at MMA DieHards.
Rizzo and Castro created the website for MMA DieHards when there was no option like Wix. You needed a web designer, or at least someone who knows their way around web page development. Rizzo explained how you started an MMA website when the sport was still considered underground, the availability of sponsors to help foot the bill, how you drive viewers to your site, build content and recruit talent.
Kelly joined the team and learned from Rizzo, but was set up with an abundance of opportunities from Castro. Between the two owners, Kelly cemented his spot in the print world of MMA. As time went on, Rizzo had to leave the site, which put Kelly in the Feature Content Manager position. While continuing to interview and write, Kelly got into the podcast side of media coverage. Kelly brought Rizzo back to guest co-host MMA Dieards Radio, but that quickly led to Rizzo reviving Rear Naked Choke Radio. Rizzo talked about returning to combat sports media after a quick hiatus and how things changed, yet remained the same. It's all about the fundamentals.

The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and the always amazing Amy Barton (@amesbelle) to talk the world pandemic, but more specifically, the differences in their geographical locations.
Kelly lives outside of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), while Barton lives in Brooklyn, NY. They have heard stories shared from each side of the border, which forced them to clear up rumors and confirm reports.
Barton discussed her experiences working in healthcare and provided explanations as to why people should be patient when visiting test centers and medical facilities. Kelly and Barton also talked about the precautions people should take, no matter how unreasonable they sound.

The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) welcomed Amy Barton (@amesbelle) to the show with intentions of talking about rap battles to watch while isolating, but the longtime homies couldn't help but touch all on an array of things. Mostly battle rap, though.
Barton and Kelly met nearly a decade ago when they were covering combat sports for MMA DieHards. They worked well together, became good friends, and as you can tell from the arguments on this episode, are tighter than ever.
Barton lives in NYC, while Kelly lives near Toronto. The pair discussed the impact on COVID-19 in their countries, communities, and globally, as well as how it has affected either of them.
As the pair of former co-workers attempted to discuss who might be next for King Of The Dot champion Real Deal, they agreed Charron or Illmaculate are most likely the front-runners, which turned into a conversation that resembled a Charron vs. Illmac preview for a No. 1 contender match. Along with discussing KOTD title matches, Barton and Kelly talked about 2 vs. 2 battles, what makes a battler able to perform in different organizations, as well as some of the battles and battlers they suggest checking out during the this period of isolation.
Although, Kelly and Barton agree with the cancellation of KOTD Blackout LA, they still have broken hearts. KOTD Blackout is the most original, unique, fun event in battle rap. Kelly and Barton explained the significance of the themed event, as well as what makes them exciting.

The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) hooked up with Rear Naked Choke Radio's Joe Rizzo (@rearnakedchoke) to chat UFC 248, BTC 9: Rampage, Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder, and a strangely true comparison.
UFC 248 is headlined by middleweight champion Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero, with a co-main event between strawweight champion Zhang Weili vs. former division queen, Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Kelly and Rizzo talked about the four fighters at the top of the card, who they think will win, as well as some of the other key match ups, such as Sean O'Malley vs. José Alberto Quiñónez.
Rizzo also laid out a fair comparison between Romero and David Ayres, a 42-year-old goalie who recently played in an NHL game fr the Carolina Hurricanes.
Kelly and co-host Kirill Kasatskiy attended BTC 9: Rampage at The Aud on Feb. 29, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Kelly and Rizzo touched on the event's main-event winner, Jesse Ronson, and the importance of supporting local MMA. Kelly also said he and Kasatskiy plan to do a recap show in an upcoming episode, which will feature fighters from BTC 9, as well as people from the promotion and media members in attendance.
Kelly and Rizzo, though a little late to the party, discussed Tyson Fury's knockout victory against Deontay Wilder. The former co-hosts talked about Fury's performance, the costume fiasco, allegations of Fury cheating, and what they think will happen in July's rematch.

The home of OHL's Kitchener Rangers becomes the home of MMA for a night.
The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) welcomed BTC MMA (@btcfight) matchmaker Rob Veevers (@RobertJVeevers2) to the show to talk about BTC 9: Rampage, which takes place Feb. 29, at The Aud in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
Veevers talked about the matches at BTC 9, as well as some of the matches that never came to be. The matchmaker also discussed how he got the gig, what he has learned in his tenure, and what goes into his job. Along with looking back at the history of BTC MMA, Veevers also talked of what's to come this year, with three more shows planned before the year is out.
Kelly and Veevers strayed off the path of MMA and talked about another thing they have in common, stand-up comedy. Veevers talked about some of his favorite comedians, as well as suggested a rising comedian for other fans of the entertainment. I guess you could say he's stretching his matchmaking skills into stand-up comedy and coupling viewers with comedians.

The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) welcomed his former co-host Joe Rizzo from Rear Naked Choke Radio to discuss the pair of title fights, as well as some of the betting angles for all you sports gamblers.
The former co-hosts discussed Jones' ways to win, history of championship fights, recent performances, and what they expect from the champ.
Kelly and Rizzo discussed Reyes' football career and transferable skills to MMA, along with comparing the challenger against former NCAA/NFL football players who competed in MMA.
Rizzo hosted Chookagian's first interview ever, so he gave some insight on her skills, as he has had an eye on it since day one. To nobody's surprise, he picked to massive underdog in the co-main event, but his logic was sound.
Kelly and Rizzo also gave their locked-in picks for the championship fights, as well as one other bout on the card, because it features a "hot ball" fighter.

Kobe Bryant, along with his daughter and seven other people, passed away in an untimely manner on Sunday, January 26, 2020. The tragedy rocked the world, and The Building Downtown host Jay Kelly (@JayKellyMMA), like everyone else, was affected by the loss and shared thoughts on the basketball legend.

It has been a good past seven days for The Building Downtown hosts Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Kiril Kasatskiy (@ApostolRaps).
The hosts discussed the 40-second victory McGregor picked up over Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, and the idea of a fight between the Irishman and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Music To Be Murdered By, Eminem's new album that dropped on Jan. 17, with zero promotion, has the world buzzing. Kelly and Kasatskiy talked about the tracks they liked, disliked, and the controversial single, Darkness. The hosts also compared some of Slim Shady's past work t o his latest project.
Battle rap fans were blessed with a phenomenal release as well, when KOTD released Charron vs. Rone. The battle took place in November 2019, at King of the Dot's Town Bidness 2, and was considered an instant classic by many. The battle rap world hasn't stopped talking about the contest since it came out on YouTube, and just like the rest of the fans, the hosts had to touch on it.

Conor McGregor brings everyone together, including a couple of former MMA radio hosts.
The Building Downtown host Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Rear Naked Choke Radio host Joe Rizzo (@rearnakedchoke) reunited to talk UFC 246, headlined by McGregor and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
Kelly spent nearly a decade working with Rizzo in the MMA media industry, and close to six years playing co-host on RNC Radio. The pair of face-punching pundits got back to their roots to discuss the return of the former champ-champ, McGregor's sportsmanlike approach to this bout, Cerrone's chances at victory, Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington, former foes of the headliners, and the disrespectful betting line involving a MMA veteran.
Kelly and Rizzo chopped it up and took a stroll down memory lane, but the RNC Radio founder kept it unnecessarily humble. While visiting the beginning of RNC Radio, which started in 2007, Rizzo flirted with the idea of reviving the show.

Hosts Jason Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) and Kiril Kasatskiy (@ApostolRaps) talked about the bombing in Iran and the death of Qasem Soleimani, who was an Iranian major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, from 1998 until his recent passing. The hosts chatted US President Donald Trump's decision to attack Iran, as well as about their concerns as Canadians, should Iran retaliate.
In less serious conflicts, Kelly and Kasatskiy discussed the reignited beef between 50 Cent and French Montana. As of now neither MC is attacking on wax, but rather showcasing their troll game, and it has been comical thus far.
The bang-up job the Ontario government did when Canada legalized marijuana cannot go unmentioned. They have recently made changes to policies to allow legal weed to be more accessible, so the hosts discussed Ontario's plans and mishaps as we approach the next phase of legal cannabis.
Dr. Dre recently celebrated 12 years since the launch of Beats headphones. Kelly and Kasatskiy debated whether Dre made his fortune from music or from headphones.
