It's a rare thing for us to have back to back episodes on the same topic, but we couldn't resist. It was time to put Reg through his guessing paces and see if he could get his overall GTB score up. He's been watching the other episodes, and honing his questioning skills. Can he do it this time? He really needs it to get his average up, and Jet's eager to see him do it. It's a fun time and a good chance for you to see if you can best Reg and guess the bass Jet is playing before it's revealed.

Another day, another bass to for Reg to try to identify...without seeing it. 20 questions plus 5 guesses is all he gets, as always. Jet answers the questions and plays the bass for him, but can Reg come up with the right questions? Can he do it this time? He's 1 for 3 so far in the series, can he get his average up to 50%? A lovely dinette set, and a live seal, are up for grabs if he can. Join the competition and see if you can guess the bass before Reg does. Tons of fun and fabulous prizes, it's the game show made just for musicians!

Overdrive and boost in the same pedal is really useful. Awesome in fact. Being able to switch the order of them is even better. Way better. Having some famous folks associated with the pedal is icing on the cake. Today Jet and Jason compare and contrast 2 different Signature drive/boost pedals, the D&M Drive from Keeley, co-designed and endorsed by Dan and Mick from That Pedal Show, and the Gristle King by Jauernig pedals, made to the specs of the famous Greg Koch. With lots of control and flexibility, these two pedals take guitar tone to the heights of playability, but in surprisingly different ways. If you thought all gain pedals are basically the same, check out this tone test to change your mind. The guys use P90s, Humbuckers and Single Coils with a Belle Epoch delay and spring reverb to make sure all avenues are explored in this fun and informative shootout.

Jet and Reg are at it again, this time with a new pedalboard in their sights. Question is, what to put on it? It's gonna take more than one show to figure that out! But they gotta start somewhere, so it was off to the pedal shelves to find some contenders. Two distortions, a phaser and a polyphonic octave machine with bonus goodies sounds like a great place to get the ball rolling. It's episode 1 of the new series, "Pedalboard Contenders". Join the boys for some fun and experimentation as they run these pedals through the ringer for your enjoyment. A Huber and an Amplified Nation amp complete the rig for the day. The VVCO pedal reviews we've done on Gear 'n Gigs have been some of our favorites. Then Reg had an idea... A parking lot made from VVCO guitar pedals. It took a while, but Jet and his daughter managed to pull it off. A usable, practical floor board of sonic goodness that looks like a Hollywood vehicle reunion. . . the world's first pedal board parking lot! The planet's most famous cars dishing out some great effects. Clean boost from the Batmobile, SRV style overdrive in the Bandit's Trans Am, Distortion ala Rat hidden in Starsky & Hutch's Gran Torino, a killer chorus that solves mysteries with Scooby and the gang, an Earthquaker Depths inside Mr. T's van, Doc and Marty and the flying Delorean giving out great delay, while the Ghostbusters provide the haunting reverb. Headlights, tail lights, even street lights...this is a complete diorama of tone. Pardon the pun when we say, "C'mon along for the ride!"

If you're into guitar effects, you probably already know that JAM pedals are all hand built and painted in Greece, from top notch components. They are also all analog, with amazing quality and incredible capabilities. Jet and Reggie have a JAM Multipedal in the studio today, with 10...count them, 10 (!) ....of these supreme tone twisting machines built into one box. No wires, one power supply, no pedalboard needed. Listen along as the guys put a Fender Strat through this hand-painted musical monster from the JAM Custom Shop and review all 10 pedals for you. Overdrives, compressor, fuzzes, Vibe, Tremelo, Chorus, Phaser, Delay....it's all in there and they play them all so you can hear how they sound, individually and combined. Psychedelic sounds will be heard to go along with the killer "Monterey" inspired finish. If you like guitar pedals, you need to hear this review!

Jet and Reggie pit 3 heavy hitting but light weight bass amp heads against each other in this low frequency shootout to determine which one steals the show. Will it be the Mesa Boogie Subway D-800, the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, or the Euphonic Audio iAmp Micro? Each has plenty of volume, with the wattage to move some serious air (the power range for these amps is 350-800 watts). Each features a class D power section, so they are almost as easy to move around as a pedal. Each has a powerful preamp section, with tons of tone-shaping goodness on tap. But they have very different strengths, as it turns out, and all of them are good enough to make the final decision difficult for our intrepid heroes. They'll put both a vintage P-bass with flatwound strings and a vintage Rickenbacker 4003 with roundwounds through all 3 amps in a direct comparison so you can decide with them. Put on some headphones and come along for the ride!

Can Reg finally do it? Can he guess the bass Jet is playing without seeing it in under 20 questions? He's tried a couple of times without any luck, he's listened to himself in frustration afterwards, wishing he'd asked the right questions. Is today the day he pulls it off? We bring another unusual bass guitar to the game for you to guess along with Reg for the best gameshow in music, GUESS THE BASS. Give it a shot and see if you can guess it before Reg!

Here comes the fuzz! (and the clean boost) It's a flashback 70's show for Jet and Reg and they check out three of VVco's pedals, all clad in die cast crimefighting costumes. Two Rat style fuzz circuits, one in the ever recognizable Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino, the other in the famous Batmobile from the animated series. As if that wasn't enough for a single show, they also review a 60's Batmobile with a Klon type clean boost built it. As always, the sound of the pedals is actually the star of the show, but these hand built beauties captivate with their incredible visual appeal and detail. It's a lot of fun for the guys, come along for the ride!

Our very first guest comes back for another visit, this time to tell us about his band's new album, "The New Exhibit".

Three years ago, Travis Larson gave us the pleasure of an exclusive interview, and as it happened it was our very first YouTube video too! Now he returns to give us an update on what he and the band have been up to over those 3 years, their touring plans to promote their new album, and some great conversation as well. Jet and Travis talk music production, studio life, being on the road, and sometimes get pretty deep in their philosophies surrounding art and music.

Hear about his bandmates, bassist Jennifer Young and drummer Dale Moon, the famous bands they go on the road with, the way they handle the logistics and the shows...their gear and their gigs! It's a fascinating and informative interview with the always interesting Travis Larson. Not to be missed.

There is a reason why the TC SCF is a favorite effect for many famous players. It's candy for your ears! Earthquaker always has something tasty up their sleeve. And fans of our show know we like a lot of Earthquaker pedals. Today's box of guitar goodness, the Special Cranker, offers more tone on the bone than you might think. Sure, it's a boost/overdrive sort of an effect...and yet the inspiration and joy that it put through the strings is extremely addictive and kind of surprising. Watch Jet and Reg react to this unique offering from one of the best pedal brands available, as they put both a Tele and and Les Paul through it with the mighty help of a Mesa Boogie amp.

Time for part three in the Trilogy of Twisting Tone. This time Reg takes the reins and drives his bass guitar into the land of the unknown. Using his newest pedalboard recipe, he's out to add atmosphere, gravitas, and a downright leviathan presence to his 4 string thing. Can he make Jet a believer in his newfound love for wild pedals like the Earthquaker Data Corrupter and Night Wire? Can his Pigtronix Envelope Phaser, Resonator and Philosopher King add to the mix in a meaningful way? Spend some time with the guys in the studio and let's find out together! It's a crazy ride all the way to the end so stick around!

We had to do it! It was so much fun the first time, we had to do another dive into the deep end of tone twisting guitar pedals and techniques to see what atmospheric and amazing sounds we could make with our 6 string counterparts. If you're looking for ways to make your axe sound unearthly, unusual, or un-guitary (its a word), this is another show you need to see. Come with Reg and Jet as they take a trippy walk on the other side, using all the means at their disposal to make the sound of normal guitars anything but! Even if it only inspires you to do something outside your regular methods, it was worth the visit. You'll want to wear headphones for this one.

So many wah pedals, so many choices. Which is our favorite, and which is yours? Jet, Tyler and Jason put 11 pedals to the test in our first ever bracketed competition to determine the best wah! Using a Strat, a Les Paul, and 2 Mesa Boogie amps, the guys take the time to carefully listen and test each pedal. They give 'em the beans, the biscuits, the peppers, and the onion in an all out effort to figure it all out, so you don't have to! Come along for a lot of fun and funk, rock 'n roll, and general six string wailing as we do the musical experiment the guitar world has waited too long to hear. The test involves boutique, vintage, mini, limited edition, and budget pedals . . . and the winner might surprise you.

Trust ol' Reg to come up with a great Show 'n Tell for us. . . a bass extravaganza with only 2 pedals, but it's more than enough! Compression, ADSR Envelope, Distortion, Phaser, Envelope Filter, Tremelo, Swell, Fade. . . it's crazy how these two boxes can conjure up so much inspiration and expressiveness. Whether you're a seasoned pro looking for some great new sounds, or you're new to the bass pedal scene and want to find out what's possible, this is a great place to settle in and watch Reg and his best bud Jet explore the fantastic tones they can get from the Pigtronix pedals on the show today.

Reg is back to make the guesses that make our day! It's time for another GUESS THE BASS episode. Reg pulls out every possible hint, extension, and extra (dubiously argued) guess that he can to try to improve his record. The self professed bass expert himself faces off against Jet with 25 questions to get it right. Will he do it? What bass has Jet tried to fool him with? Can you guess before Reg does? Oh man, I can't wait . . .

The mysterious, swirling, atmospheric flanger. Anything but humble, this staple of pedalboards is used to flavor everything from The Police and Rush to The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Robin Trower . . . the list goes on and on. And most would agree, the Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress is the Granddaddy of them all. The one to beat. But what if you put 3 different versions of this classic guitar pedal in a shootout against each other? Hmmmm, we said. And we were off. Jet and Reg take a long listen to these magic boxes of inspiration, and compare their sonic differences using a Strat, a Two-Rock and a Coppersound Strategy preamp. Stick around till the end when the guys pick their favorite. Will you choose the same one? Let's find out!

Clipping or overloading a signal will bring out hot spots. It will exacerbate mud and make chords on a bass often sound messy or flubby. Enter the Source Audio Multiwave Bass Distortion! By dividing up the bass signal into 10 distinct frequency bands and distorting each of those independently, and then recombining them, you get real clarity and evenness. Chords come out intact and dynamics give it a real voice. By adding a feedback-like foldback circuit, high frequencies can be enhanced and played with in ways no other normal pedal can even try to replicate, to the point that an octave-like effect is possible along with the drive. It's so smooth, at times it sounds down right synthy!

Check out this Show 'n Tell episode where Jet gives Reg the lowdown on this killer pedal, using his (apparently) favorite bass, the Kubicki Factor, through an Ampeg SVT-IIp tube preamp.

"Search ending", "easy to use", "simple to understand", "adjustable on the fly" . . . . these are the pedal mantras that many guitar players live by. We've discovered a pedal combination that might just be the perfect small and flexible solution for gigs, practices, worship performances and recording. The Friedman Dirty Shirley overdrive/amp sim and the Wampler Metaverse modulated delay go together like Les Pauls and Marshalls. These two pedals get along so well you keep 'em separated at night. Jet and Reg run these amazing pedals through some amazing amps--in stereo--to show you what they're going on and on about. Lots of playing, lots of great tone, some fun discussion, and a rather in-depth review, as it turns out, on the Metaverse. Does this chosen combo of gear get the coveted Gear 'n Gigs Seal of Approval? You want to know, we know you do . . . .

In a world of box shaped guitar pedals, VVco stands out like a 50 foot marshmallow man. Everything they do is from another world, and the version of the Ecto-1 pedal we're trying today is absolutely no exception. It looks exactly like a diecast Ghostbusters ambulance, because it's made from one. Lights, doors, it all works and when you plug in your guitar, an entirely new dimension of sound is at your disposal. This particular one--you can choose your effect , how cool is that?!--is a reverb pedal that creates an Unearthly Sound that might just be what you've been searching for all along. We've never heard a reverb quite like this one! Stick around for the whole show so you can hear where this thing goes, and be sure listen for another self-professed title that Reg has given himself. If you like unusual pedals, the Ghostbusters, or general ghoulish fun, this is a great way to spend your next 20 minutes or so.

OK, you don't want to miss this one. It's crass. It's ridiculous. You might laugh out loud. But it's all true. Jet and Reg bare their souls to tell stories from their (checkered) musical past. It's the Gameshow of Bad Decisions, made up just for you! If you ever wanted to hear about Jet's worst gig....or Reggie's idea of a terrible band name...or how bad a gig can smell....then this is the show for you. Hang with the boys as they compete for most humiliating, demoralizing story. It's one for the record books.

When it comes to tape delays of legend, there are really only a couple of contenders. Without doubt, one of the most revered is the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, a multi-head tape delay with EQ and Spring Reverb. It was a game changer in 1974, and to this day remains a favorite of echo connoisseurs. Many have tried to replicate the magic of these incredible tone machines in the digital age, with varying degrees of success. Now Roland themselves, under their Boss brand, bring their version to a pedalboard friendly format. It has all the features of the original, plus more. Is this the Space Echo to have? Does it have the magic? Jet and Reg take an in-depth listen, going over each multi-head combination, and each of the 5 included reverbs, with clean and overdriven tones from a Strat, a Blackstone and a Two Rock. Grab a drink, have a seat, and sit back and help us evaluate this important new offering from Boss.

The Strymon DECO is not trying to be a guitar pedal, not exactly. It's trying to be 2 reel to reel tape decks at the same time. Not to record, but to get overdrive, flange, chorus, slapback, and modulated short-repeat delays. (huh?) I know, it's a bit hard to explain but it has a sound that is pretty darn amazing. Super natural and organic in it's effect delivery, it's deceptively simple to use but strikingly deep if you want. Truly a masterpiece of guitar enhancement, you won't want to miss this review by Jet and Reg. Does it get the coveted Gear 'n Gigs Seal of Approval? Let's find out!

Chorus is coming back! At least Jet thinks so. So it's time to do the big comparison. Which analog chorus from back in the day rules the pedalboard? Is it the original Roland Boss CE-1? Is it the sequel, the CE-3? Or did MXR have it right from the get go? Does JAM's more modern take on this effect, the Waterfall, keep up with the veterans? Let's do an in-depth direct comparison and find out! Jet and Reg fire up the Marshall Class 5 with an M-Tone custom for our review. The result surprised us quite a bit...check it out!

What could be better than playing through a vintage Roland DC-50 bucket brigade delay/chorus unit? Playing a vintage Paul Stanley Signature Iceman through it! We take a ride through Tone Heaven as we check out these beauties from the 1970's. It's an all analog session that only says "digital" lol. Is the DC-50 delay the bomb? Is the chorus as good as it gets? What happens when you add a modern Nobel ODR-1 overdrive pedal to the mix? Is it better before or after the DC-50? All these questions are answered in the next half hour as you join best buds Jet and Reggie for some fun, some killer tones through a Two-Rock amp, and some vintage guitar and effect exploration.

OK, we've tested a lot of pedals. We've owned and used hundreds. We've also worked in music stores for many years so we kinda thought we'd seen it all. And yet. . . no. No we hadn't.

The FX Tracker by Backline Engineering. A tour de force for a pedal manufacturer for sure. We've never looked forward to hearing the next preset more in our lives. This thing takes the cake--Lush, animated, surprising, detailed, flexible and unfathomable are the words that best describe this deceptively simple looking box of magic.

You absolutely must hear this for yourself. If you like guitar pedals, you won't be disappointed. Hang around for the sounds, they get better and better throughout the show.

Wear headphones if you got 'em.

This pedal receives the coveted Gear 'n Gigs Seal of Approval.

The folks at Beetronics never cease to amaze! Fuzz + Overdrive + a massive amount of blend control are the offerings from Beetronics' hive mind in their amazing Royal Jelly pedal. The STRATegy Preamp . . . We see what they did there :-). Supremely awesome packaging? Check. Sturdily built? Check. Cool factor? Off the charts! But how does it sound? Billed as having 30 db of audiophile clean boost, the Strategy Preamp and Clean Boost from Coppersound gets fully tested by Jet and Stacy. The guys put a Strat (of course) and a Tele through this box o'style to see if the tone keeps up with appearances. Without any spoilers, we can say the guys definitely have a great time testing out this guitar pedal. If you like guitars and amps, you need to see this review. It could be a game changer.

Harmonic Trems are being talked about a lot lately, and for good reason. By splitting frequencies and using them to push and pull on the signal, an organic and pleasing tremelo can be had. Earthquaker Devices, one of our favorite pedal brands, offers the Night Wire, so we give it a chance to shine. It has the harmonic trem, but also an envelope feature. Very cool on paper . . . .But is it funky? How does it work on bass? Let's find out together on our inaugural Show 'n Tell episode.

The Maestro PS-1A Phaser Shifter is one of the most iconic effect pedals out there. Used by George Harrison, Alex Lifeson, Waylon Jennings, Layne Staley and many others, they were recorded and used live by tons of pros in the 1970s and 80s. Now they're hard to find, out of production, and generally considered too big for pedalboards and too expensive for practicality. Enter the Heptode Virtuoso. This modern recreation aims to put the power of the PS-1A at your feet in a less expensive, more reliable and pedalboard-friendly way. But does it have the same mojo? We put a Strat through a Marshall Class 5 in the hopes of finding out. Come join us for the back-to-back comparison!

Used by guitar heroes like Andy Summers, Alex Lifeson, David Gilmour and many others, the Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress analog flanger is a classic among classic pedals. Known for it's "halo" type modulation sound, it has been a staple of rock and roll since it came out in 1976. Now Longamp, a company out of Poland, has recreated the circuit, utilizing genuine MN3007 chips. Handmade and capable of 9v or 12v operation, is this the modern alternative that will be able to dethrone the original? It's smaller, less expensive, and brand new. Which pedal will Jet and Reggie prefer? Join us for an in-depth comparison in the studio!
