Hello! In this episode, I am joined by my wonderful friend named Allison to discuss how representation or lack of has affected us growing up and shows that have made a difference to us as women of color. We also share some of our thoughts on Black Lives Matter, protests happening across in our communities, and our determination to enact real change in society.
Here, I will be discussing Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse. In the novel, Roanhorse offers a fresh take from the mainstream idea of a post-apocalyptic future through the lens of her protagonist, Maggie Hoskie, a Native monster slayer. I shared an excerpt from the novel, as well as, Roanhorse's response as to why she decided to set her story in the future when she was interviewed in 2018 on the Females in Fantasy Podcast.
In this episode, I discuss Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh. The first half I explain the general overview of the story and if I would recommend it. The second half is the spoilers section where I share my favorite parts and discuss the main points of the novel.
