On the 25th March 2020 GOV.UK published a six month MOT extension. Meaning that all Vehicles due a MOT from 30th March 2020 will get a six-month emergency extension. The Independent Garage Association (IGA) have highlight concerns that better guidance needs to be given to the public regarding the extension to ensure that vehicles remain roadworthy. With the current MOT test failure rate standing at 31%, it is believed that around 10 million vehicles do not meet the basic level of compliance set out in the UK. With that figure possibly rising from 30th March 2020.
