New Life
Plenty of things in life can easily be distractions to our purpose in the Kingdom of God. Pastor Mel expounds on how we must be careful not to allow things to distract us from our Christian walk or the assignment God has given us. Sometimes our dreams can be a distraction to us doing God's will. Sometimes an offense may be the distraction that pulls us away from fellowship with God and His people. We must always be sensitive and discerning to the enemy's scheme to distract us.
Bishop Brenda K. Perry's message is taken from Isaiah 58:12. This end-of-the-year message is to prepare the members' hearts for a time of consecration before the Lord.
As believers, God desires that His people's hearts be pure before Him, open to receive His direction and that we are the remedy of hope and healing our world needs us to be.
Pastor Gail Sprat was the guest speaker for the virtual Friday Noon Prayer Service. She encouraged New Life to continue in the season of prayer; going deeper to hear and be sensitive to what God is doing during COVID-19, what He desires to do in and through us as individuals and collective, to lean into the change of how we "do church" going forward, and to be intentional in our engagement with the unbeliever/ unchurched.
Nehemiah did not allow the culture of his captivity to take him away from his love for his God and native land. He remembered who he was and the God he served. The Bible tells us “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
Nehemiah prepared himself for the opportunity. When we are prepared God can promote us. In the months of prayer and fasting, Nehemiah allowed himself to be prepared for the opportunity to stand before the king and to fulfill the assignment that God had placed on his heart.
Nathaniel Jordan shares with us how God has created the natural healing medicine and preventative foods that our bodies need to be healthy.
1 Corinthians 2, But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory...but they did not know who He was because had they known they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. If Satan had known that Jesus was God in the flesh he would not have wanted them to kill Him...Satan didn’t know that Jesus on the cross was the seed of woman crushing the head of the serpent (Satan himself).
Bishop Perry admonishes the congregation that our faithful and committed praise breaks the enemy’s stronghold. You have to talk to yourself when you feel the pressure of life holding you down. You have to tell yourself, “My soul will make her boast in the Lord.”
We can trust and know that even with all of the pressure from the world and the day turning into the darkest hour, this is our finest hour. God is saying hold fast to Him because He has already given us the victory. We live by faith, not by what we see or feel. We have to trust that God will do what He promised He will do. THIS IS OUR FINEST HOUR...
Someone has to teach the new generation how to worship God. Someone has to be willing to help the next generation understand why they are to dedicate themselves to the service of God, even in the simple things. We have to teach and show them how to be committed to a life of holiness and righteousness.
A special farewell service for one of New Life's ministry family - Pastor Elmer & Deaconess Powell. Bishop Perry shares the parallel of the services and faithfulness of this couple and that of Paul's co-workers Aquila and Pricilla.
Bishop Perry minister's to New Life from 2 Corinthians 8 where the Apostle Paul reminds the church at Corinth of their once strong desire to be a financial blessing to the church in Jerusalem. He encourages the Corinthian saints to be like the saints in Macedonia who despite their financial lack insisted on giving to saints in Jerusalem.
Carla Cargle shares with New Life the importance of understanding what Money is. It is a tool God has created as a means to barter or actively participate in commerce. Money should not control us but rather we should trust God, manage our lifestyle, and trust the flow. As we align ourselves with God, He gives us wisdom to walk in financial, peace, financial stability, and financial freedom.
We can stop God’s blessings from our life due to fear and greed; being selfish can hold back the abundant flow of God’s riches. However, we release the overflow of God's riches when our attitude (our heart) is surrendered to Him in obedience.
Psalms and Proverbs often tell us to inquire of the Lord to teach us to know the ways of God...to know His precepts, His wisdom. God is a God of order. When it comes to our financial stability we must understand and work in the order of God.
This is part one of Bishop Perry's message series on financial freedom. God desires for His children to live in freedom of debt. Through His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, we can obtain wisdom to save, invest, give and spend the monetary resources we receive.
Bishop Kelvin Clark ministered for the 2019 Father's Day service from 2 King 7:3 - 9. 2 Corinthians 10:4 - 6...Most people would like to take the road of least resistance. When a person find them self sitting for a long period of time their composure says, “Don’t bother me now because I’m resting.” The sitting becomes their posture, apart of who they are. Sitting for a long period of time brings about a certain condition and character.
When we start doing what God wants us to do the enemy will come against us - we will find ourselves in spiritual warfare. That’s why we must go deep...the water of life is down in the well. We can not be satisfied with the shallow spiritual things or blessings. We must daily want a refreshing of God’s Spirit. We have to want to be hungry for God.
When Joshua told Moses that he heard a sound of war, Moses was able to discern that the sound coming from the people was a sound of idolatry. Moses had been with God receiving instruction forward progress.
Intercessors have to stay on post and on guard because when you come up missing corruption will take over. The more you understand your prophetic or intersession gift and scope the more proficient you will be. When Moses God became tired he had to have intercessors on his left and right to help win the war.
Whose report will we believe? Will we believe the words of the prophets concerning Jesus? Despite Jesus doing many miracles in the midst of the people of Israel many refused to believe that He was the Messiah.
When you think things are hopeless, God is looking for your faith. It takes work to believe. Martha knew that Jesus was the resurrection but she didn’t believe that Jesus could raise Lazarus after he had been dead for so many days.
Why did Jesus have to come into Jerusalem riding a donkey? Matthew 5:17 Jesus came to fulfill the words of the prophets; Zechariah 9:9 told Israel to rejoice because their King would come riding into the city on a donkey and a colt.
Can God depend on you? It is not a matter of what congregation you belong to, but we are called to belong to Christ. Philippians tells us that it is God working in us. We we were born again the old creature passed away and a new man was born.
God could depend on Abraham. Abram had to know who God was, making a decision to trust in God or not. When God called Abram to leave his family and everything that was familiar behind and go to a place that only God knew, Abram had to trust in God.
Apostle Bernice White shared with the New Life family that many times we become so caught up with wrestling with the ideas of how to fulfill our purpose that we fail to actually do what God has designed us to do. We have to reach a place where we walk in faith and believe that God's will can be done as we yield to Him.
The body of Christ must have an understanding, appreciation, and respect for the gifts that God has given to each believer. God does not give us gifts for our own glory, but rather to glorify Him and to edify the Church.
Jesus said He had come down not to do His will but to do the will of the One who sent Him - His Father’s will. God did not save us to just sit on the pew. We have an assignment given to each of us.
A lot of times we are caught up in what is going on around us; we get disturbed by what we see and hear on the news. But we need to understand that we have a God that knows the end of the story before the world came into existence. He is looking to see if the people of God are going to believe His Word.
Bishop Perry exhorted the congregation from Psalm 91 (New Living Translation). She encouraged us to proclaim God's Word over our lives daily as we continue to live by faith.
Pastor Mel encourages New Life to remember the reason why we as believer celebrate the Christmas season. Christmas is a time to remember that Shalom, peace, has come to earth and has made all thing complete and whole through Christ Jesus.
Apostle Bernice White reminded New Life of the importance of living our life daily as a reflection of Jesus Christ. Each day we are living legacy makers.
Eld. Roy Clark -There is a way for everyone on the earth to be identified apart from everyone else...our fingerprint. When we come before God with our heartfelt worship before God it is our spiritual fingerprint in heaven. God knows each person’s worship...our worship has its own identity. Our worship is known in the spiritual world.
Bishop Perry reminded the New Life family that God want's us as believer to take His Word and to show that we approve of what He says by living it out in our lives.
Bishop Abraham Manuel from Cape Town, South Africa ministered on how David showed favor upon the son of his best friend deceased best friend, Jonathan. Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth had been forgetting and forsaken. But when King David showed kindness to Mephibosheth it brought joy to the troubled heart of David.
Two ministers from New Life spoke on Sunday, October 18 to encourage the people of God.
No matter how old we are God has given us an assignment. Caleb, Moses, Abraham and Sarah, even in their old age they did great things for God. What are you going to do with what God has placed in side of you?
Guest speaker Pastor Peter Ochiel speaks of the difference of being in the multitude and being one of the ones willing to leave the crowd. While you may receive good things when you are in the multitude the real experience of blessings and God's greatness happens when we are willing to leave the crowd and follow after Jesus...and sometimes even leaving the boat.
How do you worthy of something that you have not even contributed to the worthiness, something that you did not even earn? Paul was not asking us to walk with arrogance, but worthy.
Walking worthy requires learning...we must learn how to walk worthy. The walk is one of humility and thankfulness. It’s not based on what one has or does not have, but on our understanding of what God has placed inside of us when He filled us with His Spirit.
Pastor Mel shares with New Life that Jesus defined greatness by showing us how to take the lead in stopping down and washing other people's feet. Kingdom greatness is when Christians are willing to reach out to the disenfranchised in the local congregation and the community and willingly serve them.
Some individuals say they love Jesus, but they are married to the world and I don’t want to be right. Their mannerism and actions say that they have a stronger love for the world. They are spiritually singing the old song, "If loving you is wrong I don't want to be right", but God wants them to devote all of their love to Him.
Bishop Brenda K. Perry spoke from John 15: 9 - 12. Jesus said you have to abide in the love of the Father. God wants to us linger in His love...to stay in the “right here”. When we stay in His love we get His heartbeat. When we stay and hear His voice in the quiet and stillness it satisfies the soul.
You don’t have to be like anyone else. God did not create us an original so that we die a cheap copy. Intentional imitation will forever impede our best self from becoming who God created us to be...we are to original and are stamped with too much purpose to be anyone else.
Be yourself!
A covenant is a pact, an agreement between at least two individuals. Jeremiah 31 tells of the new covenant that God was going to make and that He would place on the heart of His people.
Bishop Kenneth Mack preached from Isaiah 41:14 - 15. A worm is so weak and so insignificant, it’s fragile. What is this earth moving machine that God said He would cause Jacob to become? A worm is so small that no one even knows it’s there. But God said I will not stop there, I will help you. I will make you a machine, something that is noticeable...something that will make the earth shake.
Apostle Paul Shields let's us know in this message that preparation is not something that you just do, but preparing for God's working in our lives is a process just like a potter has an extensive process to prepare clay to be worked on the potters wheel.
Apostle Paul Shields shared with New Life the importance of understanding our individual role in receiving our promised blessing. While the actual miracle of our blessing comes from God, we must do our part in preparing for God's out pouring in our life. Even when it does not make sense to us, we must follow God's instruction in preparing for His miracle in our life.
When we have weakness in our flesh we must be mindful not to feed that weakness and bring temptation upon ourselves. David had a particular “problem” in the flesh, he had a fondness for women who were not his wife. After David committed the sins of adultery and the murder of Uriah, the servant of God came to confront David about his sin.
David was so broken that he cried out in Psalms 51:11, his prayer was that God would not cast him away from His presence nor take His Spirit way from him. Romans 8:1 tells us that there is no condemnation in Christ when we have repentant and are walking after the Spirit of God.
David enjoyed a special relationship and the favor of God. However, David allowed himself to become distracted by selfish desires and eventually placed his desires above obeying the commands of God.
If we do not forgive there will be hindrances in our lives and some destruction that will come. What is forgiveness? Forgiveness is to pardon for a fault or offense; to excuse for a debt owed.
Bishop Perry reminds us that we don’t have to accept the things the devil throws at you. You have to speak to the issues in faith. In Luke 8:40 - 50 we see a woman who for twelve years suffered with an issue of blood...she suffered going to the doctors in hopes to be cured. She had reached her limited, the limit that it was time for Jesus to step in.
Bishop Perry visits John 8:30 - 36, reminding us that it is not enough to just believe in Jesus, but we must also act out our faith in Him. In order to truly know Him and trust Him, we must be willing to have a true relationship with Him, grow in understanding of who He is, and walk in obedience to His word.
Sis. Mary Colemon shares with us what Jesus birth meant to the world, as well as what it should mean to each individual who's life has been transformed by His birth, death, and resurrection.
Bishop Brenda Perry reminds us that God has a perfect will and plan for our lives. God had a plan for John that did not include following in the footsteps of his father Zacharias. The plan was part of a larger plan that was going to change the everything, unexpected change.
Bishop Perry shares with us that David took caring for his father’s sheep to heart though he was alone. David did not know that his faithfulness to his father would bring elevation from God. We don’t know when God is getting ready to bless, heal, or deliver us. But we have to be ready and be in the place where God is. We can’t listen to the voice of our problems and allow fear and disbelief to grip our heart.
Bishop Brenda Perry reminds us that God desires that believers prepare for the promotion and elevation that He brings. We can not expect for God to promote us if we have not prepared or meet the qualification for the promotions He is trying bring in our life for His glory.
Bishop Brenda Perry, speaking from Proverbs 6:12 - 19 and Ephesians 4:, let's us know that all of Heaven works in unity, and all of the forces of evil are unified. But can the same be said about the children of God? Are working towards building unity or we working in a spirit of discord?
In Bishop Perry's message she shares that the enemy knows what they body of Christ fails to understand. He knows that he has less power and ability if he is divided. He knows that he is ineffective if he is in conflict with the demons that work with him.
The Body of Christ (the Church) is not divided. However, many who go to local assemblies (church) are divided. 1 Corinthians 1:10 - Paul instructs the Church to all speak the same thing because division causes strife. You can not have a divided congregation, or even the Body of Christ as a whole, and expect to have power.
Four ministers of New Life exhorted on the subject of Praise In the Midst of the Storm using various personalities from the Bible and the life storms they faced, and how they overcame those situations; giving God praise through it all.
Bishop Perry reminds us that head the words of Isaiah 61:3 -4 and we are willing to take on the garment of praise, stop complaining and murmuring, God will pour on us His oil upon us and give us beauty for our ashes, and make us to be a tree of righteousness.
As we look at the world around us today it seems that people have become more wicked, the mind is consumed in wickedness. We are in a battle for the mind. 1 Peter 1:13 reminds us as believers that we must gird up our mind.
Bishop Frederick Mosley shares with New Life the importance of understanding the words that James wrote in his salutations and introductions to the church. James wanted every believer to understand that test and trails are sure to come, but we must stand firm amidst the pressure for it is in that pressure that we come to truly understand who God is and see our faith grow.
What would happen if all the Christians, forgetting our minor difference, would come together and take a stand for the name of Jesus Christ, like the millions of people did in 1963 who took a stand on the National Mall for the purpose of freedom? How we, as the body of Christ, could change this nation if we would stand together in righteousness and serve people...
Bishop Brenda Perry reminds the congregation that New Life is more than a name, it's a spiritual walk for every born again believer. When we are saved from sin we are changed and come into a new life.
Despite the testing that we go through in life as Christians, God has empowered us to resist the temptations of the devil. The moments of testing prepare us to go and be light in the places of darkness.
As Christian we must understand that the climate of our society is changing. While there is pressure to change with the climate God is requiring that we align ourselves with the change that He is bringing in the Body of Christ. We must be sensitive to God's change so that we may be impactful in this season.
Bishop Brenda Perry reminds us that it is a blessing and a great opportunity to serve, whether it be in the Kingdom of God or in our daily lives. When we serve we must remember that we are doing it unto God, and that we may not always receive a reward from others but we can enjoy present benefits from serving others.
Bishop Perry preached from 3 John 9 - 12 and Galatians 5:13 on having an attitude of Joy, Willingness, and Humility when serving. We must be cautious of being committed servants who do it with an attitude of haughtiness and arrogance.
Bishop Clifford Frasier reminds the Church of Jesus Christ that we have an obligation to rise up in the mist of a chaotic world and be the light and strength that God has purposed us to be. The Church has one job, to lead the lost to Jesus Christ.
