Pressing the RESET button. (Acts 8) Jonathan Highwood by Carlton Community Church, England
What happens to our bodies when we die and how the resurrection of Jesus impacts our faith.
The early Church in the book of Acts was empowered by it's deep conviction of the physical resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Learn more about this fundamental truth and how it is to impact our lives now!
These early Christians had a deep conviction of truth which was built upon solid biblical theology. They were able due to their deep reservoir of Scripture within them, we able to interpret every situation through the lens of Scripture. We can learn a lot from them in relation to their bible knowledge.
The coming of the Holy Spirit upon the early church, changed them and equipped them for the call to Jesus to them to serve his mission. Here are 3 reasons why the Spirit came.
Today we are looking at the characteristics of those in the Upper Room. Also we are highlighting that God uses all things to draw our hearts towards him.
The Lord has been using the pandemic for His the fulfilling of His purposes and one of these is the resetting of the church to it's original setting., full of the ministry of the Holy Spirit ministry through these early Christians. we can learn a lot from these people who turned their world upside down.
Because His stone was rolled away on that morning, your stone, whatever that may be, can also be rolled away. Jesus is alive and the same Power which raised him from the grave and death is also available to us each day. Have you met the Risen One yet? If you have not, you can and know the life changing and liberating power he possesses.
During this pandemic, God is at work both among his people and society. Here are at least 3 areas he is working in.
Terry Walters Standing Firm in Faith - 23:03:2021, 12.59 by Carlton Community Church, England
The apostle Paul outlines where and whom our focus should be upon as we stand for faith and righteousness. With the right focus, you can win your battles. Here are 4 principles which will help you.
Paul the apostle writing to the Christians in Ephesus, warns them of an evil day, a day when dark powers would resist them in their walk of faith. But the emphasis of his message is this, they can win and so can we! here are some things to do in order to grow stronger.
Job has lot to teach us regarding faith in God when things appear to go wrong. Job is a bastion of integrity and faith and we can learn a lot from the way he spoke when under pressure!
In this moment within the life of David, the challenge of Goliath gives him the opportunity to prove to all, that the Lord is faithful and empowers us to fight and win over the 'giants' in life. God found a champion in the shepherd boy and he is still looking for champions. Learn some of the characteristics which made David into a giant slayer!
Joseph is another example of someone who overcame the many obstacles which were placed along the road to his maturity and wisdom. You and I can learn a lot from his experience.
Overcomers are those people who refuse to give in or give up when faced with difficult challenges. the apostle John on the island of Patmos was isolated and secluded for his faith and though life was hard and unfamiliar, he triumphed in that harsh place. We can learn from him.
The day we come to Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we enter a race, a race of faith and the finishing line is Heaven. The apostle Paul reminds the church at Corinth and also reminds us that we are in such a race and he calls us all to have a determined attitude in order to win. We can all win our race and receive the Imperishable Crown.
Throughout the Bible, God's people have faced situations which to overcome, they were required to stand firm and in order to see and experience the miraculous intervention of God. What would have happened if they hadn't trusted in God? This message outlines your need to stand firm in the battles which are not yours to fight but God!
When we meet God's servant, he is the opposite to the great prophet of courage and faith. His inner tank is empty, he is running on dry. Let's look at some of the possible reasons why his inner reservoir is depleted and dry. You ever been there?
Don't stop short of the best - Don't sell yourself short! Elijah could easily have finished on Mount Carmel with the great manifestation of God's fires and the destruction of the 450 false prophets. But no! He finished what the was called by God to do. He wasn't satisfied with half-measures and neither must we.
There is always a key moment, a central point, in every biblical narrative. Elijah on Mount Carmel, has many amazing points but it is in the prayer of this prophet, we discover the central point of what God was doing in and through this event.
There are many unsung heroes in our society and also the Bible has a host of such people, some of whom are never mentioned by name, so we will never know who they are! That is the way God intended it to be. Not everyone becomes a household name or has a very public ministry. The majority of saints are quietly serving the Lord. This message focused upon Obadiah, shows us that both he and Elijah were faithful servants of Yahweh.
Zarephath is a new experience for the Prophet Elijah in a new location. But it is in that unfamiliar place he meets God and develops in his faith, this place is a training and growing experience which would prepare him for going to the Nation. There are a number of lessons we can learn from this forerunner of revival.
There came a day in the life of Elijah when everything changed!. He was transformed from being a person who grew up and lived in a country village, to being a national speaker. What brought about that change? Listen to the shift which happened in Elijah can also occur in you!
Elijah lived in an unprecedented age which was a "new age" for the Northern Kingdom of Israel. Ahab was the king and there was never a king like him who did so much evil and provoked the anger of the Lord. We can learn a lot from Elijah as we live in unprecedented times during this pandemic. We can stand out rather than blend in!
The descendants of Korah recovered from the mistakes of their ancestors. Somebody rescued them from getting swallowed up in the sinkhole of rebellion. Thank God that through Jesus, we can all recover and have a new history, create a new legacy and have a new identity. Not being known by our history but by God's mercy!
Think outside your own lunch box! This group of disciples didn't anticipate or expect such a great crowd to turn up. They only prepared for their little group and not for others. We need to use the little we have to minister to the needs of others and in doing so, we will SEE Jesus at work.
The disciples who encountered the Risen Jesus were not superhuman people but ordinary people just like you and me. They had limitations to their faith and understanding but they persevered and saw Jesus in glory and power. We can learn a lot from these people.
This occurrence in the life of Jesus has a lot to say to us today in our lives. The truth contained in this Bible narrative is applicable wherever you live and whatever you are facing.
In dealing with heresy, the apostle Paul takes the church back to the centrality of Jesus and his Supremacy overall and his all Sufficiency for the Christian. Everything we need is in Jesus.
We are living in unprecedented and unpredictable days. Great challenges abound regarding the maintaining of our spiritual disciples. The Apostle Paul often experienced isolation through being in Prison and also there were times when things got so tough, everyone left him. This often occurred when his core members like Timothy and Titus where away ministering to the churches. But in these times, he says that "That the Lord stood by him"
We are living in unprecedented days. Great fear and panic have overtaken the nations. As God’s people, we are people who live in both the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Heaven, how do we respond to this pandemic? The Bible has plenty of advice for us which empowers us to respond correctly in these troubling times.
In dark days of spiritual and moral decline, living without a true inner compass, the nation of Israel in which Isaiah lived was in a terrible state. But into that dark and difficult time for those who remained faithful to the LORD, He gave a message of hope through Isaiah. To them, a Son would be given who would bring about reform, through a different rule, a heavenly Kingdom. We now know that this Son to be born would be the Saviour of the world. No matter how dark our world becomes, we can be assured that the God who prepared the way for the First coming of His Son, will also prepare the way for His Second Coming. There is hope in the Son!
Epiphany is a word used to describe a sudden understanding or discovery of aspect of truth or life. When Peter confessed who Jesus really was, this confession was due to a sudden understanding/revelation from God. (See Matthew 16). We all need such moments in our lives and in particular as we build The House of God.
As we begin the new season of Church, we are looking at Building the House, to see the Church Jesus is calling us to be here on the Eastside of the City.

This is the first of a 3 part series by Wesley Bond on the life of Joseph in Genesis 37-50
Quietly tucked away towards the end of the book of Proverbs is a very unknown prayer by an very unknown person, Agur. In my 44 years of faith, weekly attending church and particpating in 1000's of prayer meetings, during that time I have never heard anyone either preach or pray on this prayer. Agur displays an essential attitude for all God's people and more so in the age of consumerism in which we live.
Getting In The Way Of The Presence Of God - John O'D - 23 07 17 by Carlton Community Church, England
How would you respond to God, if He made Himself known? Moses is a tremendous example of such an encounter, we can learn a lot from him.
You may not know it but you were created and redeemed by God so that you could encounter Him and be aware of His presence day by day. Today's messaged defines what the Bible writers sought to convey when they spoke of The Presence of God.
A great message at Carlton Community Church from Tony Dunn about facing the giants in your life
Steve Wendells preached a fantastic message this Sunday. Have a listen and may the Lord bless you
One of the most powerful and liberating messages I've heard in years on the Passover Lamb.
God intended us to live in Community, a group of people who have Christ as the the Centre and meet in the the lives of others who also have him as the Centre.God takes lonely people and places them in families.
The work of God has always advanced in the face of opposition. Nehemiah provides us with some valuable lessons from his experience and he is a great model for all builders, who are building a wall, protecting and preserving their Sacred Space.
The bedrock of Nehemiah both as a person and a leader was this: His God was Supreme over all opposition and obstacles. This confidence in his God is clearly manifested in his Conviction of who God is, His Confession of who God is and by his Calling out to God, (at least 10 times in the book, he prays).
The woman at the well. Encountering Jesus where you are! (Tony Dunn) by Carlton Community Church, England
In this message, we are challenged regarding our perception. Simon saw a prostitute and a waste of perfume-Jesus saw a worshipper who made herself vulnerable and who was prepared to sacrifice a year's wages, for that is what the jar of perfume was worth.
In this message we look at the Call to build the wall. Nehemiah did not get the role as the builder because of the popular vote, he was given the role by God upon his knees. Here are some principles we can learn as we work with God in building the wall in our hearts and in our community.
A great message from Mark which offers hope and freedom to live as God intended us to live.
Why would God use someone with no building experience, to rebuild a broken down wall around his people? Chapter 1 of this great book, gives us some answers as to why God used him (an imperfect person) and why he will use us in building what he is building today.
Paul asked 5 questions and gave answers to these questions in order that the Roman Christians could have a strong base to build their house upon.
The Christmas narrative majors on Journey: God towards man and man towards the Saviour. The Magi began this amazing journey because they saw His star. God uses various means which are relevant to the individual to attract their attention to what he is doing. For us, it may be a thought, a desire or even a disappointment to get our attention.
The Power within Suddenly Moments (Steve Wendells) by Carlton Community Church, England
Today's message looks at some lessons we can learn from the life of Samuel as he began his journey of discovery with the Voice of the Lord. There are at least 5 catergories which the Word of the Lord falls into and these will help us discern his Voice, when he speaks.
David, delivers a very timely message on the power there is available to each child of God who sees, hears and pays attention to what God is saying to them today. He will call us from here to there! He will enable us to go from here (wherever here is) to there(wherever there may be). Keep taking forward steps.
God does speak but not every voice we hear or think we hear is the voice of God. There are at least 5 voices we need to be aware of and then make our judgement on the Voice of God. This message highlights these voices and our response to them.
Jesus in response to a question on how to pray, gave his disciples some tips, advice, on how to pray, how to converse with his Father, the way he did. (Luke 11/Matthew 6). Practice this model for a month and see where He takes you in payer.
Molly tells her real life story and how in her darkest hour, she found strength in God and his faithfulness to watch over to protect and to provide for. Also being able to come to the place of total surrender and to trust him for his plans to bless me and stop trying to bring my plans about.
As we continue to explore the meaning of Developing Holy Alertness, we look at the Hidden life of Jesus and how his disciples followed him there and it was in that place, one of them asked him to teach them how to pray like he prayed.
One aspect of the truth's contained in Scriptue, is the fact that God is a great conversationalist. He is constantly speaking with people everywhere. This message highlights the need for us to be alert to him in everyday life.
God has made it so simple, he asks only that we love him with all our hearts and because of this love relationship , he will lavish his blessings upon us.
Confession starts with the Contemplation of God, discovering his nature and character and this then leads to Conviction which in turn leads to a Powerful confession of who God is and what that does to me and for me.
Tony, encourages us that in the Land Between, the place between the giving of the promise and gaining the possession of such a promise, we can/ we have to trust in God to do what he has said and this is highlighted in what God cannot do!
We live in a world which is so unstable and unsafe. There is a place where we can find rest and be secure. Psalm 91, is a wonderful Psalm which gives us directions to the Safest Place on Earth.
First of a three part series focussing on the Holy Spirit and his gifts as told by Wesley Bond.
We all have those unexpected moments in life, where we didn't see things coming. Abraham teaches us on how we should respond in such moments.
Why do we want to go back to where we came from when God's best plans are ahead of us? This is a very challenging call to stand still and to wait for the deliverence theLord will bring about.
In this message, we are looking at the relationship between Abraham and God. This relationship transformed Abraham from being a follower to being a friend, there is a difference! Also,we look at the important role the church plays in intercession.
Abraham is described as The Man of Faith. Discover the power of faith and see how we also will need this powerful commodity if we are going to walk in his footsteps and please God. Also, discover how you can have this powerful faith in your life.
In this message from the Father of our faith, we learn 4 lessons on how to strengthen our relationship with the Maker as we journey along the road towards the City.
The Land Between can often be a very lonely place, however, it is also a place to grow and develop trust in God.
Throughout his 100 year journey of faith, Abraham is primarily building a relationship with God. He loved His presence more than his presents! This message highlights the steps he took to build that highway and how we can build highways for God to travel on.
The message of the physical Resurrection of Jesus from the dead: teaches us that whatever the circumstances around our lives or the size of the stone placed in front of us, there is a power which is much stronger.
In this opening message, Wesley looks at the Person who is called the Holy Spirit and also gives a brief introduction to the gifts he gives to God's people.
Abraham when he starts walking with God, commences a journey which would lead to greatness. God would take him beyond his natural ability and expectations. Learn the things which Abraham which where steps to becoming great. See what you can learn!
During his long walk with God (100 years) Abraham built 4 altars and today we look at the significance of those altars. We also pose the question as to which way round it is. Is it Building altars and being altered or Being altered and building altars?
