I like keeping it simple, simple cymbals, especially when playing with a singer. Because sometimes the more “sophisticated” cymbals have too many overtones and drown out the singer or the other members. There is a time and place for the complicated cymbals, but I found that I often like to keep it simple.

Have you noticed how different tempos change the feel of a song? Do you have some temples that you feel most comfortable in? How do the great drummers like Tony Williams relate to tempo and the beat? *** I meant to say, “if I am not careful, I personally, may tend to play slightly on the BACK END of the beat” not “slightly behind the beat”;)
