Madison Bikes and the City of Madison kick off the 24th annual Bike Week in Madison. Events are happening Sunday, September 12 through Saturday 18 throughout the city. Gov. Tony Evers today announces a $25 million investment in transit services for the City of Madison and Milwaukee County. The City of Madison Engineering Division dedicates a new rain garden to the late Roger Bannerman on the corner of Fox Avenue and Sheldon Street next to the Southwest Commuter Path. The Engineering Division named its rain garden program after Roger Bannerman to honor his years of tireless work toward improving urban stormwater quality, his love of rain gardens and dedication to stormwater quality issues. Bannerman was also an invaluable resource to the City of Madison and its stormwater regulatory program.
The first Pierce Volterra zero-emissions pumper has been placed in service with the City of Madison Fire Department, making this the first electric fire truck in service in North America. The Volterra pumper is serving front line duty at Station 8, the City of Madison’s busiest fire station. The department is led by Fire Chief Steven Davis and is made up of 14 fire stations serving an area of nearly 100 square miles and a population of over 250,000.

Previously only a small number of students were eligible for free summer passes.

Emergency Order 15 A summary of provisions that changed between Order #14 and Order #15 include:
Gathering limits outdoors increased. Outdoor gathering: Numbers must be limited to ensure people who don’t live together can maintain six feet physical distancing at all times. Face coverings remain required in indoor public spaces, but face covering requirements for outdoor spaces were removed. Schools and childcare policy requirements including distancing and cleaning changed. Self-service food stations (e.g., salad bars, buffets, and sampling) may resume. Saunas and steam rooms may reopen, with certain provisions.

In recognition of how the COVID-19 landscape has changed since the beginning of the pandemic, Public Health Madison & Dane County is releasing an updated tool for assessing our progress through the pandemic, called Forward Dane: Updating Metrics in Light of Vaccination Progress. In conjunction with these new metrics, Public Health is issuing Emergency Order #14. The order goes into effect March 10, at 12:01am and will be in effect for 28 days.
