Welcome to CONNECTION SUNDAY! Today, we kick-off our church-wide Spiritual Growth Campaign. Every year we devote 6 to 8 weeks to a specific topic that we believe will help you grow in your relationship with God.
Week 3: For the past three weeks, we’ve been talking about how to press through difficulties or challenges that get in the way of experiencing God’s best for our lives.
The life of a Christ follower is not about avoiding difficulty but successfully walking through it.
Your race is not over. Your God will not fail you. Your fear cannot stop you. Your enemy can’t defeat you. Be strong and courageous God is with you.
Christmas time, is a season filled with wonder and joy. It’s a time when people seem to be more generous, kind and forgiving. Even with all the commercialism of Christmas, you can still find Christ in the sights and sounds of the season. While sitting in Starbucks working on my notes, I hear songs about peace and joy, wise men and shepherds, angels and Mary and even songs about The Child.
Last week we started a new series entitled, Whoville. We are discussing the “Who’s Who” surrounding the birth of Christ. Last Sunday we looked deeper into the Nativity and the lives of Mary and Joseph. This week I’m going to focus in on The Shepherds and The Wise Men.
Every Christmas we drive past Nativity scenes in our community. Most of those Nativity scenes include, Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, shepherds, the Magi or the three wise men, an ox, a donkey and a few sheep. But what does the bible say? Who was really at the birth of Jesus?
Most of your friends and family are in a war. They need someone to show them the way out of the craziness of life. Would you be willing to run into battle to rescue them? I want you to think this way, “Please Lord, help me get one more.”
Life always brings us to a point where we have to choose between two paths. In the movie, 6 Below: Miracle of the Mountain, Eric Le Marque chooses the wrong path.
Why focus on movies? Research reveals that most Americans are greatly influenced by the songs they hear or the movies they see. This influence is so great, that it has been proven to be one of the things that develops the lens through which the person defines his or her world.
We should always pray and place our trust in God. Remember, God can make a way where there seems to be no way.
Have you ever had that friend in your life who either did something or maybe said something that left you thinking to yourself, “man I need new friends.”
If we were really honest with ourselves, how many of us have been that other friend?
In order to have a good friend, we have to be a good friend.
The final thought for our Broken series comes in the form of a question and here it is, “What breaks your heart?”
Last week we not only launched a new church, we launch a new series entitled, Broken. In our time together, we unpacked the idea that We live in a broken world full of broken people who just need someone to introduce them to Jesus.
Welcome to Launch Sunday. This is an exciting day for all of our teams and our church family. Our team has been working long and hard to make sure we were ready to serve you today. Since most of you are new to ONE*, I would like to start by letting you know what we are all about. We are all about helping people find and follow Jesus Christ.
When God created you, He not only created you with the desire and the ability to relate with Him but He also created us with the desire and ability to relate with others.
The missing link to your joy, your hope, your peace and to your fulfillment is a daily connection with your Heavenly Father. From the beginning of time God placed an eternal longing in your heart for Him.
In this message we discuss the importance of stepping out of your current boat and walking toward Jesus.
We have all experienced a season when we are presented with an opportunity to make adjustments in our priorities that have the potential to make a huge difference in our lives. With every opportunity, there is a time to prepare, a time to grow, a time to give and a time to go.
Our big idea for this topic was this: In order for us to grow spiritually, we must connect relationally.
Why Would I Connect? In order for us to grow spiritually, we must be connected relationally.
For the past 3 weeks, we’ve been discussing: Things that influence our decisions and direct our lives. The main idea of the series is this: Who or what you follow will determine the future you will experience.
This week, I want to focus on something that has lead all of us into trouble and danger. It’s one of the trickiest influences to recognize as being potentially dangerous. What is this stealthy adversary? It’s your heart.
Have you been following pride? What area in your life could use a good dose of humility?
Following fear will always lead us away from God and into isolation and loneliness. If God didn’t send it so don’t you receive it.
Jesus freely gave the gift; but we have to reach out and receive it. All we have to do is Lay It Down.
Jesus NAILED everything that would keep us from experiencing relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Most of us have felt abandoned, rejected or alone at some point in our lives. The emotional trauma of abandonment is literally debilitating for millions of people.
Our subject today deals with a monster that lurks inside all of us. Left unchecked, this monster has the potential to destroy your marriage, dissolve your company, ostracize your children and even draw nations into war. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? That’s right, PRIDE.
Seeking and saving is all about being intentional to help people “FIND” their way back to God. The Great Commission emphasizes the importance of helping people not only find but “FOLLOW” Jesus Christ.
Here is the big question in this week's entry in the 'Cross Training' series: “Are you open to helping people up by helping people out?” Pastor Will asks, "how can we position ourselves to be open to God to help people out?"
Sometimes God will use your friends to get you to your comeback. · We all need friends that will be there when we need them to be. · We all need friends to tell us the truth when no one else will. · We all need friends that are willing to go the extra mile to love us.
Whatever you need to come back from, you need to hear this: if Jesus is alive from the dead–and he is—and if Jesus has conquered death and hell—and he has—then it’s possible for every person to have a comeback story.
It’s never too late. You’re not too far gone. You’re not too old. You’re not too far away.
Have you ever felt like God just didn’t know you existed? Maybe you got to a place in your life where you felt like God lost your address. Whether it was divorce, abuse, the death of a child, addiction, losing our job, or declaring bankruptcy, there are plenty of circumstances we encounter in life that feel dark.
In his book, The Comeback, Louie Giglio writes: No one has gone too far, and none of us has done too much, to disqualify ourselves from the love, grace and power that Jesus can bring into our lives. "The Lord is merciful, compassionate, patient, and always ready to forgive." Psalms 145:8 GW When we show mercy to others in the same way God has shown mercy to us, it sets everyone up for a Comeback.
Seeing Jesus as He really is will help us to experience the Comeback we really need. A clear picture of Jesus will reveal a clear direction for your comeback.
Have you ever experienced the devastation of a divorce, the loss of a child or had to file for bankruptcy? Have you ever lost a great paying job or failed to pass an important class in college? In his book, The Comeback, Louie Giglio writes: We all share one thing in common. In all our lives there will be winds that blow. Headwinds of difficulty brought on by our own decisions and gale-force winds of adversity due to circumstances we never saw coming. Yet, God is in charge of the winds. His plans will always prevail even when our plans don’t.
