Derek Prince Legacy Radio is hosted by best-selling author, Stephen Mansfield, author of The Faith of George W. Bush and the biography of Derek Prince. Derek Prince Legacy Radio represents the next step in bringing the solid, practical teaching of Derek Prince to a new generation of listeners.
Derek explains the meaning of rapture as it concerns Christians when Jesus returns. Each of us will be judged. This will not be a judgment of condemnation but to assess the quality of our service and to give the appropriate rewards. Then Derek takes a look at the final overthrow of the antichrist.
Derek looks at end-time prophecies, showing us that though the world gets darker, our rest and our confidence must be in the Lord. We must endure. The church Jesus wants will not be deterred by opposition or persecution. It is committed to Him, His purposes and His tasks.
Today Derek outlines the importance of biblical prophecy as light for us in this dark world. He stresses the importance for us to pay attention to what Scripture says, and get to know what God has revealed and wants us to understand. Then we must obey and act on these words.
Derek begins this study noting that time is something we are passing through; the things we experience here in this life are but for a moment. One day we will pass out of time into eternity which is our permanent, ultimate reality. What we do here and now will affect who we are in eternity.
Derek finishes this study of transmitting God’s power by looking at Paul’s letter to Timothy, reminding him of the gift he received when the elders laid their hands on him. Prophecies were made over Timothy, and Paul encourages him to wage war with them. Derek then deals with dangers and safeguards concerning the laying on of hands.
Today Derek shares with us examples from the New Testament church of how the laying on of hands was used to send out apostles and appoint local church elders. The purpose is to transmit authority and to set them apart, by endorsing and equipping someone for service.
Derek uses Scriptures to show how people received the Holy Spirit by others laying their hands on them. He then goes on to look at the apostles’ commissioning men to serve in the Jerusalem church by the laying on of hands. By this act, they became administrators, and servants of all.
Derek begins this week’s study of transmitting God’s power by looking at the spiritual purposes of laying hands on someone. For example, it is used to transmit blessings—such as authority, wisdom, the Holy Spirit, or a spiritual gift or ministry. Secondly, it is used to commission someone for an area of service.
Derek finishes this week’s look at immersion in the Spirit by leading you in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He lists seven requirements for receiving and then invites you to receive. Then you can share with others, so they too can be blessed!
In today’s study Derek makes clear to us that in one Spirit we, as believers, have been baptized into one body and made to drink from one Spirit. The key word emphasized is one, and points to unity in the body of Christ—all believers being members of one body, without division.
Derek looks at two ways the Holy Spirit is administered in the New Testament: direct from heaven and by the laying on of hands. The message of the gospel is supernatural—it is power from on high, brought to us in signs and wonders wrought by the Holy Spirit.
Today Derek continues by showing how the baptism in the Holy Spirit places a seal on us marking us as God’s possession, which is demonstrated by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives you to speak. Using Scripture, he shows us how speaking in tongues was the proof that the apostles used to identify believers who were baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Derek begins this week’s study of the baptism (or immersion) in the Holy Spirit with a look at the word of prophecy. Who would do this? In all four gospels, John the Baptist identified Jesus as He who would baptize in the Holy Spirit. Derek then explains what this baptism entails. It is through an individual infilling—resulting in a supernatural outflow.
Derek finishes his look at water baptism by sharing about the spiritual significance of our identification with Jesus in this act of obedience. Going down into the water and coming back up is so much more than just getting wet. It accomplishes things in the Spirit realm for us as we act in faith.
Derek looks at baptisms in Acts to show that it should not take an extended period of teaching before a person is baptized. He actually points out that there seemed to be an immediacy for the new believer to be baptized. He also shows that baptism in water and baptism in the Holy Spirit can occur in any order.
Today Derek goes into what is required of us as believers to be baptized in water, and what it means in our lives. Christian baptism is much more than just getting wet, and Derek stresses the importance of understanding all that is involved. According to Derek, Jesus never offered any guarantee of salvation to those who believe without being baptized.
Derek continues this look at John’s baptism into repentance pointing out the need for confession of sins and an evidence of a changed life. These are necessary for a truly repentant life. This baptism in water was a seal of what had been worked in their lives previously.
Derek begins this week’s study on the teaching about baptisms highlighting that it this word is plural. Actually, there are three baptisms. The first is the baptism of John the Baptist, which Derek notes has three requirements, the first being repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Derek finishes this week’s study of faith and works by looking at the only righteous requirement of the law. That is love—and is the objective in the Christian life. Love must be the motivation behind all we do and say as we continue to grow. Since your faith is accounted to you for righteousness, there is no guilt or condemnation, though you may stumble in your love walk. You are now free in Christ.
Today we look at the problem of those who have received the grace of God through Christ, but then try to keep their righteous standing through works. Derek uses the book of Galatians to show how legalism had come into the church. Then he stresses that the Holy Spirit is received by faith, not by works.
Derek addresses the problem of trying to live halfway between rules and grace, and shows there is no way for that to happen. Keeping a set of rules will never make you righteous. Through Romans, Derek explains that when we are alive in Jesus we have died to the law and it no longer has rule over us.
Today Derek talks about. There is a difference between what the law would have you do—although you can’t—and how grace has been provided to help you. The Law is needed to get you to the point where you see your need for grace. That is its purpose.
Derek begins this week’s message by looking at faith and its place in receiving the gospel, making clear just what the gospel is. He then goes into the relationship between faith and works, revealing the danger of legalism but also the misunderstanding of what grace is. We have been made new creations through faith in order to do the good works God has prepared for us.
Derek finishes this week’s study by transitioning from the way of repentance to the walk of faith. He begins with a look at the nature of faith—what it is and where it originates. Faith speaks from our heart and our high priest, Jesus, adds power to it. Faith comes before seeing, but speaks out by confessing hope with determination.
Derek continues his message on a serious note: the fact that God hasn’t changed, and neither has the gospel message. Throughout the book of Acts repentance was stressed first; then came believing in Christ, and then baptism. When God initiates repentance in our lives, He is looking for a response from us.
In today’s session Derek stresses the importance that repentance has to be made before one can fully enter into faith in Christ and be saved. There can be no forgiveness without repentance. This was the message that began in Jerusalem and continues to all nations today.
Today we look at just what repentance means and what it looks like. Derek explains the Greek and Hebrew meanings, drawing them together into a picture that can be seen in the parable of the prodigal son. When this prodigal son, in his misery and broken state, came to himself, he was able to repent and return to his father’s house in humility.
Derek begins a look at the six foundational doctrines that will take you from the starting point of the Christian faith to its ultimate fulfillment in eternity. We begin this study with repentance from dead works, which Derek notes is a decision we make, not an emotion we feel. Dead works are anything we do that is not done in faith to God.
Derek finishes the teaching from this week by going through the effects God’s Word can have on your life. God’s Word produces faith, it is the seed of the new birth, and it is spiritual nourishment. It produces illumination, provides physical healing, and makes possible victory over sin and Satan. It also provides cleansing and holiness, and is a spiritual mirror.
Today Derek continues teaching how God has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness through the promises He has made in His Word. He then begins a look at the effects God’s Word can have in your life–what it will do for you as you feed on it.
Derek explains that the authority behind the Scripture is the Holy Spirit, who causes those truths to work in our lives bringing discernment, life, and power. The Word has the ability to separate the soulish from the spiritual, revealing the thoughts and intents of the heart of man.
Derek looks at how Jesus dealt with Satan when he questioned what God had said. It is the same ploy used on Eve and others throughout history. Jesus quoted directly from the Word of God; and He is our example for how we should deal with spiritual warfare in our lives.
In this week’s teaching, Derek addresses the authority of the Word of God and the power behind and in it. Today he explains how the Bible was written by various fallible men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to put down in words what He directed them to write.
Using Romans 8:29–30 as his text, Derek begins to look at the seven successive stages of God’s plan for those who love Him, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and who have become members of God’s family. The culmination of this plan is that we will share Christ’s glory and sit with Him on His throne throughout eternity.
Today Derek explains that God is behind and in control of the whole universe. He controls the stars, human history, the nations, and our individual lives. More important still, God has a plan for each one of our lives and He is working these out just as surely as He is controlling every other area of the universe.
Derek begins this new study by looking at who God is. Behind the entire universe there is a person, a Creator, who is also a Father. If we can embrace this, we will have a totally new perspective on ourselves, our lives, and everything that goes on around us. All things, including you, have their source and fulfillment in God.
As we finish this study on the Holy Spirit, Derek addresses two kinds of unions, one in the flesh and one in the Spirit. As we identify with the death of Christ, we are dead to the claims of the law and free to be united in a marriage relationship to the living Christ. In this way we become one Spirit with Him through the Holy Spirit.
Derek warns against the most common hindrance to being led by the Holy Spirit. This is called legalism. Do not seek to achieve righteousness with God by observing any law or set of rules. Never impose requirements for righteousness that God Himself hasn’t imposed. We are to be free from relying on human effort.
Today Derek looks again at 1 Corinthians to add that God isn’t impressed with human strength. For us to have divine strength and power, we must become weak by the standards of this world. The key to this divine weakness which gives strength is found only at the cross.
Derek reveals that God is not impressed by the wisdom of this world. There is another kind of wisdom which seems foolish—that of the cross—which is imparted by the Holy Spirit and is contrary to the spirit of this world. To be truly wise you have to be prepared to lay down the wisdom of the world.
Today Derek shares that the Holy Spirit is the only source of effective guidance and power in our prayer life. He mentions four kinds of prayer: that which is directly based on God’s Word, that which is directly inspired, supernatural prayer in an unknown tongue, and deep intense travailing prayer.
Derek finishes this study by pointing out that all nations will have the gospel preached to them—and that includes the Jewish people. At some point the full number of the Gentiles will be brought into the kingdom and the hardening of the Jewish hearts will end. That will open wide the door of salvation to the Jews. Derek exhorts us to give hope and comfort to them, which will hasten the day of Jesus’ return.
Derek shares one specific sign Jesus said would herald the end of the present age and His return in glory. That sign was the proclamation of the gospel of the kingdom to all nations in the whole world. It is Priority Number 1—to move out ahead of the forces of evil and carry out this task with great urgency.
Jesus said there would be signs taking place, which will lead up to the end times. Derek reveals how they are present even today. As we see these things happening, we are exhorted to be on the alert, guarding our hearts and praying so that we may be ready for that day.
Today Derek speaks about the bride who has made herself ready for Christ. She has clothed herself in fine linen, which are the righteous acts of the saints. We have been created in Christ Jesus for good works, each strand of which will make up our clothing. It is up to each one of us to seek the Lord about what He has for us to do.
Throughout the New Testament God’s requirements for holiness are nearly always linked with the anticipation of the Lord’s return. This is echoed by the exhortation of the writers of the New Testament. It is the strongest single motivation for holy living, and if we are truly motivated in that way, then we will live holy lives.
In today’s study Derek points out that all creation is looking forward to the return of Jesus when the sons of God will be revealed in all their glory. When Adam and Eve fell, creation was subjected to the circumstances of sin. But at Christ’s return, redemption will encompass all creation as well as man.
Derek points out that the return of Christ and the establishment of His kingdom is the only hope for suffering humanity. It is only the return of Jesus that will put an end to war, poverty, sickness, oppression, injustice, hatred, and more. Only His return will bring righteousness, peace, relief, and deliverance to the oppressed, sick, and suffering.
Today Derek looks at what Christ’s return will mean to Christians when we are finally all assembled together as His bride and His body. Derek gives a picture of the marriage of Jesus with His bride, the Church. The bride has made herself ready, and the universe is exulting. What a reason to long for His appearing!
For what reason should Christians be longing for Christ’s appearing? The first is that at His return our personal salvation will be completed. Our corruptible, dead bodies will be changed into glorified bodies, just like the glorified body of Jesus.
Derek begins this new study on the return of Jesus by first taking a closer look at those who are actually longing for His return. These are the ones who are eagerly awaiting that time when they will be given a crown of righteousness. Then Derek challenges us with this simple question: “Are you qualified?”
In finishing this study, Derek explains how Christ became a curse for us when He hung upon the cross. He exhausted every curse for each of us so we would not have to bear them. Then He gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the finished work of Christ on the cross and receive the blessings in our lives as a result.
Derek confronts us with a decision today; whether we will choose blessings or curses. Blessings come upon us when we hear God and obey what He says. Curses come from not hearing and obeying. It is up to you to make the decision which course to take in your life.
Derek reads from the words of Moses to the people of Israel as they were preparing to cross into the Promised Land. They could choose life and blessing or death and cursing; Moses advised them to choose life. Later, Jesus presents us with choice. Will we choose Jesus (and life), or will we choose Satan, the thief, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy? We each have that choice.
Today Derek looks at character trait of humility, which is the decision to humble yourself. God tells us to humble ourselves and then He will exalt us. Whatever our circumstances are, we have the ability to choose whether we will take the road to humility, as Jesus did, or lower ourselves by being prideful in whatever form it may take.
Derek continues this week on the necessity of making decisions. Today he looks at the importance of forgiving others so that we will be forgiven by God. If we do not forgive why should God to forgive us and answer our prayers? Remember that forgiveness is not based on feelings; it is based on obedience to God’s Word.
Derek teaches on making the decision to praise God in all circumstances, no matter whether we feel like it or not. Praise brings satisfaction to the ones who have made that willful decision. Have you decided to bless the Lord at all times and to have His praise continually in your mouth?
In today’s study Derek looks at two decisions made by David in Psalm 103. These decisions are to bless the Lord and to remember His benefits. “To bless the Lord” is to adopt a right attitude toward God—in humility, reverence, acknowledgment, and bowing. “To forget not” means we remember the blessings of the Lord; we focus our mind on the Lord’s benefits.
To begin this two-week study, Derek delves into the foundational difference of a person’s spiritual experience: is it based upon your will or your emotions? It is a person’s will that decides to serve God. Man is a three part being—made of spirit, soul, and body—and it is in the soul that makes decisions.
Derek finishes this study on patience with five principles for growing patience in our lives. First, we recognize that patience is essential; second, we submit to God’s discipline; third, we learn to see God’s hand in frustrations that come our way. Fourth, whenever we fail in respect of patience, we confess it as sin and repent. And fifth, we cultivate a sensitivity to God’s timing.
In today’s teaching Derek takes a look at the lives of Abraham, Moses, and David. We will see how they were able to grow in patience. As we see their successes as well as their failures, we can learn from their experiences.
Raising Lazarus from the dead is the example Derek uses today to show us the value of waiting. If it was important for Jesus to wait—to get God’s direction before proceeding—imagine how important it is for us, too. Timing can be extremely crucial in all that we do if we want success.
Today Derek speaks about God’s patience. God waits—and doesn’t act on things immediately. God has a time for everything and knows when and how to deal with people. Using as examples of waiting, Derek examines the lives of Pharaoh and Paul. This brings out our need to be patient with other people.
In this week’s study, Derek focuses on patience and what the Bible has to say about it. He distinguishes between patience and perseverance in Scripture. Perseverance implies strength, effort, endurance, and pressing forward. Whereas patience is essentially waiting. Remember, God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
What’s the hope of glory? Christ in us. Listen as Derek unfolds this secret God has reserved for His children. If we have Christ in us we have the hope of glory and eternal life with Him. Without Christ, we are without hope and without God.
