It always seems like it's so difficult to walk with God, too many standards, dos and do nots. So many misconceptions that keep us from an intimate relationship with God. As I share my journey I hope to deal with all these as we work toward a deeper knowledge of Christ.
In this episode, Progress and I dig deep into our personal experiences while starting our relationship with God.
Here are a few things we talk about:
You CANNOT do this walk with God without the Holy Spirit; you need Him like you need oxygen.
You have been translated into another kingdom, and He is your guide and teacher in this unfamiliar place who will teach you ALL things.
You cannot become like Christ without the Holy Ghost; the good news is He will never leave or forsake you.
One day at a time, little by little, you will find yourself in a symphony and in beautiful synchrony with God.
As you walk there, don't forget these 3 keys:
1) Forsake preconceived notions about God from people and from experiences
2) Be open and vulnerable with God; there's no hiding from Him, so the earlier you come clean, the better for you.
3) constant communication, aunty, uncle, brother, and sister. God is INSIDE YOU! Forget formality, place and time. He is just one conversation away.
I thought to myself, ‘I would love to treat you as my own children!’I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land—the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.
Jeremiah 3:19 NLT
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
Romans 6: 1-2,6,11
This is your reality in Christ, believe it and walk in it. You can be completely free!
You can't depend on your mother's prayers forever, you can't keep running to your pastor over every little thing that happens in your life. You must build your own prayer life you must have your own convictions about the things you believe in.
No one wants a love only confessed with the mouth and not with actions. Just in the same manner, we should confess our devotion to God backing it with actions.
You've been struggling with sexual sin and you are even tired of yourself now. I'll be giving ways to get your freedom permanently.
God wants your heart, what He wants is your continuous friendship through all your daily activities. It's easy ....friend to friend....Father to son or daughter.
What God is after is your heart, what He longs for is a relationship with the one He loves. Everything else stems out of intimacy and communion.
The word of God is your foundation now that you have been born again. It's a new journey, it's a new life like a baby you need milk to grow and the word is that milk. Below are some resources and scriptures that could be helpful. (www.mybiblestudybuddy.com) (Enduring word commentary) (Bible project) {In the same way that nursing infants cry for milk, you must intensely crave the pure spiritual milk of God’s Word . For this “milk” will cause you to grow into maturity, fully nourished and strong for life} — 1 Peter 2:2 TPT {For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. } Hebrews 4:12 NLT {All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. } 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Romans 10:9
"If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
Isaiah 52:7
"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of zion reigns!"
We have this emptiness that we can't really describe and we go trying to fill it with all the wrong things but there's only one match to the void in your heart.
Matthew 11:28- "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
