This week we talk all things staring in scary movies with someone with ONE of the CRAZY scary movie scenes I have ever seen. Charlotte is an actor based in Toronto, Ontario. She moved to New York to begin her career at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, where she completed the Three Year Conservatory. After graduating, she continued working in theatre as well as sketch comedy and film. Charlotte and her sketch troupe ‘Cheap Wine’ won the Best Newcomer award in the ‘Sketch to the Death’ competition at The Social Capital Theatre. Charlotte has been busy and is in two feature films in the last year- Lina Rodriguez’s So Much Tenderness (TIFF 2022) where she plays Annabel and the one we focus one Chris Nash’s In a Violent Nature (to be released on Amazon Prime Studio’s Shudder) as Aurora.

For Dariann Leigh, this is so much more than country music. From her one-stop town in Karlstad, Minnesota (population 713), Dariann captured the star power of the original women of country music. From lyrics bleeding through static-filled radios and scratched CDs. Dariann Leigh doesn’t just want to make music, she wants to write the soundtrack for hairbrush singers, dashboard drummers and air guitar players everywhere. Dariann has been featured on The Boot, CMT, and more with her previous single's "Closer", "Let Me Go", "10,000 miles", and most recently with her new single "Leave".
As a kid,” Says Leigh, “I remember closing my eyes, plugging my headphones in and listening to tracks that ended up being the theme songs to my daydreams. I want to be that artist for someone else.”
How do we like ourselves more and in turn be kind to others? This week I speak with author and Feldenkrais Method practitioner, Alan Questel about just that. We learn:

But, we spend most of this chat talking about the new game from inspiration, to the mechanics of it, to his plan to share it with everyone very soon. In this chat we dive much deeper than normal into one specific thing (this time the Sling It game), but it provides a great look at how the games we know and love happen from start to finish.

This week we dive back into the world of the Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) movement. A church that many call a cult. We speak more specifically this time about their homes for "troubled teens". Some of these teens sent to these homes needed mental health counseling, some were being "ungodly", and others sent away for simple things such as smoking a cigarette. Regardless of the reasons we learn this week that these homes were at best ill equipped to help and at worse an abusive place that brutally punished and terrorized those they were asked to help. I talk with Amanda Householder who was featured in the documentary "Let Us Prey" that exposed IFB for what it is. She grew up in the troubled teens homes that were AGAPE and Circle of Hope not necessarily because she was a troubled teen herself, but because her parents (now charged with over 100 crimes) ran the facilities. This is a powerful chat.

Sandy was just an ordinary citizen with no special training or resources who uncovered a scandal. This week I speak with Sandy Rosenthal who shares her riveting account of one woman’s battle to expose a massive coverup after the Army Corps of Engineers’ defective floodwalls broke during Hurricane Katrina and created a catastrophe. This is an inspiring David and Goliath story prompting many to refer to Sandy as the "Erin Brockovich" of levees.
Sandy Rosenthal founded the non-profitLevees.org in 2005. The group focuses on educating the public that the flooding of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina was due to federal engineering mistakes, not the wrath of nature.
Her book, Words Whispered in Water, is about how––against all odds––she altered the national narrative about the flooding disaster.
Sandy’s powerful message is bringing to light a mostly unknown yet dangerous situation in many parts of our country and she’s an inspiration on how to truly mobilize citizen participation.

This week was an extra special interview as I interview TV writer, Stan Zimmerman, a man who has written for some of the biggest shows of the last 40 years. He wrote for shows like Gilmore Girls and Roseanne, both shows with a huge cult following. My personal favorite and ultimate "cult following" show The Golden Girls a show he was a writer for in the legendary first season of the show. We talk about Stan's upbringing and his love for TV at a young age (funny story there!), working with some of TV's biggest leading ladies (AKA Bea Arthur and BETTY FREAKING WHITE), and his current work with some really impactful plays. This interview was truly amazing and I am excited for you to hear it!

This week I speak with Afarin Bellisarioabout the the country of Iran and how it is much different than what many Westerns think. Ms. Bellisario grew up in Tehran in a family with its feet in the past and its head in the future: whereas her grandmothers could barely read, Afarin’s university-educated father and uncles were prominent members of Iran’s new technocratic elite.
Upon receiving a Ph.D. (and a subsequent MBA) from MIT, she has worked for firms such as Intel, Analog Devices, and Raytheon. Today, Afarin consults, teaches, and mentors young ventures. But writing has been a passion. In 2013, her essay “Movies with My Aunt” was published in the anthology Love & Pomegranates. The Wall Street Journal and The Boston Globe have published several of her op-eds, and she writes regularly about the clash between tradition and modernity on Medium. We talk largely about the culture in Iran and her recently published fiction book "Silenced Whispers" that shares history and culture of Iran in an easily digestible story.

Born and raised on the Gold Coast of Australia, my guest this week Chloe Styler was introduced to country music at a young age. Spending her teenage years teaching herself guitar and writing songs in her bedroom, Chloe released her debut EP in her early twenties. Chloe now finds herself gently pushing the barriers of country music with her distinct pop country sound and making waves internationally.
Since releasing her first project in 2017, Chloe has delivered multiple alluring singles that have earned her over 270,000 streams across all platforms, nominations at the Queensland Music Awards and Gold Coast Music Awards, and finalist status in the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.
Chloe Styler’s music is forward thinking and unique, and her new music pushes the boundaries that little bit further. This year will see Chloe release a slew of singles recorded at Station West Recording Studios and produced by Grammy-award winning engineer and producer, Luke Wooten (Brad Paisley/Dierks Bentley). These tunes are set to break new and exciting international ground for this quickly rising country star.

HEY BABY! It's time to dive into the world of prank calls with the one and only Sarah Gray better known as her alter ego Sue Dillon. Ms. Dillon is a 60 something, sassy, southern woman with a propensity for Virginia Slim cigarettes and calling people to complain. While the real Sarah Gray is a much younger nurse finishing up her studies to be a nurse practitioner who realized she could speak in a funny voice. We talk about her start in prank calls, going viral, and how juggling a serious career with a not so series hobby that is quickly overtaking everything else is going. We talk fun stuff like how it all happened and her favorite calls. But, we also talk about the less than ideal things like dealing with trolls and coming to terms with a new normal. This week I speak with Lorie Bond Saadipour about her personal story of generational trauma, a mother's debilitating paranoid schizophrenia and a daughter who was thrust into foster care, homelessness, drug addiction, and was sexually abused and neglected. She decided to write a book about it all and though it discovers the strength of the human spirit and the power of love that defies all odds. Lorie clawed her way up from the brink of hopelessness and set in motion a remarkable chain of events that would radically transform her life. The Voices We Couldn’t Hear is a transformative coming-of-age story that delves into poignant themes including abuse, mental illness, and the unshakeable bond between mother and daughter.

From the spotlights of the Olympic stage to the bright lights of the camera I talk this week with 2008 Olympian Samantha Peszek about her life thus far. We cover growing up in the world of gymnastics, joining the national team, and competing in the Olympics on one of the most famous US teams ever. We talk about the injuries that occurred to the team and having such high expectations that even their silver medal finish was something they had to come to terms with. We also chat about her illustrious career in collegiate gymnastics where she won multiple NCAA titles for UCLA. Once retired her career took her on two paths the world of journalism where she works for ESPN and NBC and the world of mentorship where she runs the Beam Queen boot camp for young gymnasts. This is an amazing chat!

This week I speak with Briell Decker about growing up in the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). A world of polygamy and total allegiance to the leader, Warren Jeffs. We talk about her childhood and at 18 years old being chosen by this leader who was 50 years old to be his 65th wife. We talk about that time and eventually escaping it all. It became and amazing full circle moment when Warren Jeffs went to prison (where he is currently serving a life sentence) she was awarded his 40 bedroom mansion where she made it a recovery center for others escaping polygamy. This is an amazing conversation.

Step right up! This week my guest is bending steel and driving nails through boards with his hands. We talk with the amazing strongman and Guinness Book Record Holder, Todd Ryan Jones about the world of "old time" strongmen. A skill that has seen itself as some of the biggest celebrities dining with royalty in yesteryear to transitioning to being a sideshow act in the 1900's. Why did this happen? Where is the sport at now? How does it compare to the world of competitive strongman? How does he do it all? You want want to miss this one.

What started as a 14 year old's desire to preserve her families stories has now produced a book and a career passion for now 17 year old Suzette Sheft. This week I talk with the young author about her interviews with her grandmother about her time in Europe during the Holocaust. A story fascinating enough to have created the book "Running for Shelter". We talk about her writing process, getting published, and what the future holds.

Back for another title match this week when I speak with up and coming professional wrestler Izzy Moreno. We talk about her beginnings in the sport being part of WWE star Bayley's storyline as her "superfan" at just 8 years old. From there she started managing wrestlers at 10 and hosting a wrestling interview series at 12. After doing all this she decided her time had come to jump into the ring herself with her first bout being only this past August. We talk about her decision to do this, her prep work to make sure it was perfect, and the doubters she grappled with on the way to her debut. This was a fun conversation whether you are a huge fan of wrestling or like me knew very little about it all before these interviews.

This week we journey into the world of the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist movement with Ruthy Heiler a woman who was born into it all. We talk about the warped teachings that these churches teach, the deep connection they all share than makes them anything but "independent", and her own story of sexual abuse and the cover up that immediately started once found out. We also talk about the HBO Max documentary "Let Us Prey: A Ministry of Scandals" that she was featured in. This is a powerful conversation you will not want to miss!

Does it hurt? Does her co-workers know about her alter-ego?! This was a fun conversation about yet another profession that I knew very little about going into the chat. Whether you are a huge wrestling fan or know very little I do not think anyone will want to tap out of this one!

This week I speak with the film duo sisters taking the film festival circuits by storm with their enduring movies. We speak about the process of making a movie, their message for other women in the industry, and the Heartland Film Festival submitted movie that I watched call The Country Club.
The Country Club is a comedy centering on two young women (Fiona Robert and Sophia Robert) who hatch a plan to win a junior golf tournament prize at a prestigious Hamptons country club. But once they encounter the quirky, wealthy patrons at the club, they are thrust on an adventure of mistaken identity, love and finding friendship in the most unlikely of people.

This week I speak with Chef Adrianne Calvo who became the youngest person to cook for the United Nations and its ambassadors, has competed on Food Network’s Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay and was recognized for her recipes and concepts in Bon Appetit, Better Homes & Gardens, USA Today, and Saveur. The true testament to Chef Adrianne’s focuses and dedication was in 2020. When the restaurant industry saw some of its toughest moments, Calvo pursued her biggest expansion and relocate her flagship restaurant.
In spring 2021, she made the decision to document this pursuit and launched a YouTube series entitled, “Searching for Maximum Flavor.” The travel show combines food, fun, and adventure in 20-minute episodes wherein Calvo meets the creators behind- and studies some of- the country’s most iconic dishes, and then gives them a vibrant dose of her “maximum flavor,” at-home in her kitchen.

This week is PART TWO in a conversation I had with Emily Elizabeth Anderson about a topic covered once before, IBLP and the documentary created about it all. After growing up in a fundamentalist cult for 23 years and experiencing childhood domestic violence and sexual assault, Emily began her journey to recovery in 2015 after bravely entering a lawsuit formed against the cult and its leader, Bill Gothard.
She found writing to be a crucial outlet through her personal healing journey and she later turned her love for writing into her platform, Thriving Forward, educating on the realities of trauma survival and recovery, Emily’s focus has been to create a space for survivors to experience support, as well as find community with others who have experienced similar trauma Emily's story has since been featured on several media outlets including NPR and Amazon Prime's hit docuseries, "Shiny Happy People" and she shares it with us today.

From junkie to judge is quite the phrase and my guest this week Mary Beth O'Connor has certainly lived quite the life. We start with being left at a nunnery as an infant, being pick back up 6 months later by a preoccupied mother, to then deal with an abusive stepfather throughout her childhood. Like to many troubled teens Mary Beth turned to drugs and alcohol to lessen the burden of home. This addiction was one that she fell deeper and deeper into throughout her teens and twenties where at 32 she decided it was time to get sober. After that we go on a journey of taking her own path in the recovery world and when she was on stable ground going to law school. She then later became a federal judge! This is quite a journey and one that we can all learn a lot from. Junkie to judge...sounds improbable, but that is Mary Beth O'Connor and nothing is impossible.

This week we dive into the Not so SHINY and certainly not HAPPY world of the Institute of Basic Life Principle's aka IBLP organization. An organization that was featured in the Amazon Prime documentary "Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets". We learn about the smooth talking leader, Bill Gothard and the truly heartbreaking things he was teaching people. We learn the terrible things he was doing to "Gothard Girl's" and we unpack how the Duggar family, of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting fame, became the token family of this organization. Lindsey also walks us through growing up being homeschooled using the teachings of IBLP, something they called ATI (Advance Training Institute) where she introduces us to "Wisdom Books" that provided little real wisdom and were certainly not advanced. So, whether you watched the documentary and want more insider information or are learning about this all for the first time I urge you to listen.

What started as a Bahama's beach vacation with her family in the summer of 2018 quickly turned into a disaster that my guest this week Stefanie Schaffer will forever remember. On the way to Exuma Island to visit the social media famous "swimming pigs" the boat she and her family were traveling on exploded. The result being her mother broke both her legs and wrists, another travel losing a leg, Stefanie losing both legs and a spinal cord injury, and one person dying. We speak this week about Stefanie's remarkable recovery and the even more remarkable lessons gained from it that we can all learn from. We cover the journey both physically and mentally adapting to her new normal and why she decided to write a book to share her side of the story. This is an amazing conversation and an amazing person. This week we learn the harrowing story of a young couple in love who were torn apart by the horrors of the Holocaust. In 1940's Lithuania two young Jewish people after suffering the hardships of oppression by Soviet occupation, followed by Nazi occupation, were then separated and sent to two different concentration camps...but not before they made a vow to each other. This vow said that if they survived they would find each other and be together once again. Through many tragedies and even more triumphs that is exactly what happened and this week I speak with their son who wrote a book about his parents story. This is an amazing story about two truly amazing people. I urge you to listen and then run do not walk to pick up the book to learn more.

What started out as an idea between two friends has now 35 years later turned into one of the biggest gaming companies around. This week we hear the festinating story of an undercover narcotics agent at the height of the drug trade in Miami in the 1980's. The time was crazy and so was his story as he ultimately turned and was arrested for smuggling those very drugs he was supposed to be getting off the street. This week we go inside that dramatic story with his daughter, Lynn Walker, who dealt with a doting dad who one day just disappeared to later be found on the news as a cop turned bad. We talk with her about going up during this time, her complex relationship with her father, and her own addiction struggles. This is an amazing chat!

This week we take a deep dive into the the role of the criminal justice system in some of today's biggest issues with Arizona State University professor, Dr. Hank Fradella. We talk about how the US prison system is one of the biggest providers of mental health services and why that is a major problem. Dr. Fradella tells us what can potentially be done to fix the issues and gives some examples from his time as a law clerk in the federal courts. We also talk about the change landscape for transgender rights in the United States and how new laws being enacted could pose issues for those in the trans community. This was a powerful conversation about some extremely hot button topics. Whether you agree or not I think Dr. Fradella will make you think!
I always try to show both sides of an argument and did so in this interview playing "devil's advocate" to better understand. My questions as well as his answers are to show both sides. We also talk about invisible disabilities and how she did not let a learning disability keep her down. Jonestown, Branch Davidians, Moonies, The Source Family. We have heard of some of the biggest cults of all time. This week we examine the rise of "micro-cults". Rather than have hundreds of followers that make waves in society following one leader there is a growing prevalence on cults with 10-20 members following a guru, be it a family member or someone who has just latched on to a family. That is exactly what happened to Peter Young when he married into a family who had a "family guru" after several years of marriage he realized that his character who went by "Uncle Robert" was much more than a family friend, but someone who controlled his wife and her immediate family. Through years of battles and a lot of truly mind blowing things happening (stolen wedding rings, "casino church', and surrogacy for the leader) this cult finally made him lose his marriage when he would not submit completely to the teaching. This is a remarkable story about the power of a cult of personality and getting out before it is too late.

This week I had the distinctive pleasure of speaking with Amanda Knox. We speak about her 2007 arrest and wrongful conviction in Perugia, Italy for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and the media frenzy that happened because of it all. While she sat in a prison cell in Italy for more than 4 years the world was captivated by Dateline and 20/20 specials speaking of the heinous murder and the "did she or didn't she" of it all. This is an interesting look at what happens when police work is done under pressure incorrectly and a young women is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. We talk about what fame feels like when it is from unwarranted infamy and coming to terms with life and her purpose after it all. Through countless podcasts, a Netflix documentary, and her Labyrinth's podcast Amanda has devoted her life to helping others wrongfully convicted and highlighting injustices in our system. This is a powerful chat that everyone can benefit for listening to.

Going Viral! I have talked with people in the past who have done just that, but for funny/silly reasons. What is it like going viral for all the wrong reasons? What would you do if your worst mistake is suddenly out there for everyone to see and jeer about? This week I speak with Skyler Fluss about having that experience when in April 2022 she was stopped for a routine traffic stop and then made some false claims about the police officers intentions in a quest for attention. We talk about that night, her immediate regret, and the aftermath of becoming everyone's internet fury for the day. She talks about what she learned from the experience, how she has grown from it all, and what is is doing to pick up the pieces. This is an interesting look at what life looks like after the viral spotlight fades when that initial spotlight was harsh and burning in the first place.

This week we hear the story of Lindsey Rogers-Seitz. The story starts with a tragic day in July 2014 when her 15 month old son Ben was mistakenly left in a hot car while her husband went to work for the day. We talk about how a singular moment of his brain going into autopilot and going about his day ended with the death of their son. This story is about much more than this terrible event, but about forgiveness and healing. We talk about how their family healed and continues to heal and how she was able to forgive her husband and continue to grow together. We also talk about her lifelong struggles with mental illness herself and her growth and newfound career path in the field. This is truly a powerful conversation that I urge everyone to hear.

Whether you want to hear more about the life of a gymnast, Canada's team, or what it is like to compete in for Nebraska this is a great conversation.

This week we magically appear back on the virtual stage with up and coming magician Gabriella Lester. She tells us about her life as a traveling magician, growing up on sage and feeling most like herself when performing, and her turn on The CW's hit show "Penn and Teller Fool Us". This is a fun one with a magician who billed herself "The Diva of Deception" and then instantly regretted creating such a powerful name. Yet someone who accomplished many her life year goals before she even turns 20 years old and looking at even bigger plan. Take a seat, listen in, and prepared to be amazed by Gabriella Lester!

From creepy crawly to cuddly creatures? This week we learn from Dakota of Inspire Exotics that the bad reputation of our spider and reptile friends might be unwarranted. In this one Dakota walks us through her love of the less loved creature both for their species and also those in the species that she rescues from bad situations. She tells us some really amazing facts of spiders, snakes, and lizards and we get to learn about Pluto the outgoing Bearded Dragon she takes to schools to teaching about the misunderstood. This was a fun with a science communicator and master certified herpetologist all about a world that makes some people squirm.

What does it take to design a toy? Well probably not much, but designing a good one that parents scream, claw, and fight for during the holiday's takes some creativity and a bit of good luck. This week I speak with Matt Nuccio who through his lifelong involvement in the toy industry and his company Design Edge has helped design some of the biggest toys of our time (see: Tickle Me Elmo). We talk the world of toys, his current place in it all, and how he can help aspiring designer create the next big thing. This is a fun one whether you still have kids you are buying the latest and greatest toys for or simply want to walk down memory lane when you parents came back from the toy store with your favorite new toy, black eye and all.

I have spoken with swimmers before, but none quite like Leonie Beck. This German swimmer takes us into the oceans and lakes of a sport called open water swimming where the lanes are undefined and the fight to get around each buoy is a fight between the 40 competitors in the water. She tells us why she went into this particular type of swimming, her experiences in the last two Olympic Games, competing for Germany, and why she is now training with the Italian National Team. This is a fun one with someone who has only gotten BIGGER since our conversation was recorded.

This week we jump on stage with Broadway star Morgan Higgins as she takes us through her illustrious yet still burgeoning career. We talk the early days of not wanting to go to auditions, to starring in a Nickelodeon movie, to a short lived singing competition called Rising Star. She did a lot as a young performer, but was only getting started. More recently she was a back-up singer for John Mellencamp's Farm Aid performance and begun work on his untitled play before the pandemic. She has reached the first peak of her journey currently as she stars in Broadway's "Bad Cinderella" a modern, gritty take on a classic. This was an extremely amazing conversation and one you will not want to miss!

She tells us about growing in a performing family and her start in contortion at 9 years old. We also talk about her time in circus school and what it is like touring the country performing this back bending, whip lashing, arrow shooting with her feet routine. She might be small, but she is certainly mighty as the Tiny Girl Big Show is one you will not want to miss if it is coming to a town near you!

How do we save the planet? This week we try to explain just that when I am joined by world-renowned conservationist Leif Cocks. He tells us about his work as the CEO and Founder of the Orangutan Project and why it is so important to protect these amazing creatures habitat, which is quickly dwindling. This conversation is looked at from a lens of how protecting this one specific can in turn protect many others which snowballs into protecting our planet as a whole. This was a powerful, but at times uncomfortable conversation to have as Mr. Cocks is very blunt in his warnings of how dire he feels the next few years is to our world as we know it. This week we travel from bowling alleys to rug thefts with Reverend Gary Silvia as he tackles two monumental task. Trying to explain the movie "The Big Lebowski" and the Dudeist religion that come from it all to me. I could not think of a better guy to break it all down. Because, what started out as a fun thing to honor a chill movie has turned into quite a movement that has been at the forefront of Zen culture and even gay marriage. I expect to talk about something created a bit in jest, but found something that whether you dig it or not is the most serious, non-serious religion out there with a lot of great things to teach us! DUDE....You have got to listen to this one.

Has Atlantis finally been found? This week I speak with David Edward who says he has done just that. He tells us where Atlantis is, how he researched it all, and most interestingly why it has taken hundred of years of exploration to finally find it. Was people looking in the wrong place? Step right up to get your face painted! What started out as a fun way to make a few extra bucks quickly turned into something that would heal both herself and others from past trauma. Kristen Zamora began working over 12 years ago at local arenas and parties painting kids faces with their favorite animal or sports team, but by 2017 she began full body painting with a different goal in mind. To use these painting as an experience for the subject being brushed upon to begin to shed the trauma in their life with every stroke. Whether it is painting things that ground someone who experienced sexual abuse or recreating the tattoos of a mother on the body of their son, she has taken this mission all the way to being awarded the ArtPrize. This is a powerful conversation about how a passion can become something so much more.

Have you ever heard of "The Source Family" commune? This was a group started in 1969 by Source Restaurant owner Jim Baker. While feeding Hollywood's rich and famous in his restaurant downstairs, upstairs and in the parking lot after closing he was leading a group of young people into a world where he was was the chosen leader and others were to follow. We speak with one such follower who joined early in "The Family's" creation in Wendy Baker who left home at 14 years old and began following "Father Yod" as he was later called and did so until his death under interesting circumstances. Through moves to Hollywood mansions, being kidnapped to Hawaii, getting pregnant in the commune at 16, and escaping to lead a seemingly normal life this week you are in for a fascinating journey into a world of charismatic leaders and devoted followers. Was "The Source Family" a cult or a happy go lucky commune? I will let you be the judge.

This week we dive into the world of sports reporting as a female in the 1990's with former ESPN SportsCenter host Anne Montgomery. Spoiler Alert, it wasn't always fun and it certainly wasn't always fair. She takes us from her mom's less than excited reaction to hearing she wanted to major in sports journalism, to the stories of breaking gender barriers in the local and national TV world, to "aging out" of sports journalism (something that only is told to women it seems...), and what she did then. That journey took her to high school classrooms and into the pages of novels as she became a teacher and author. GREAT story this week from a really amazing person.

He shares fascinating, funny stories from busting one of the largest cockfighting rings ever (and why he should not have gotten involved), to paying a nun's parking tickets, and even a story of a lazy cop getting very very lucky with some Albanian hitmen. It was quite the adventure and it is only a small piece of his life and stories as we talk also about the 6 books he has written that share even more tales. Buckle up for this one!

We talk about her decision to join a fire crew in the 1970's, the struggles she faced as one of the only women doing the job, and the struggles women in the profession still face (spoiler: the number of women fighting fires now are the same as 50 years ago). This week we journey to Kansas City, Missouri in the late 1960's to hear the story of an interracial couple that joined together for a life of crime, both for their relationship at that time and for the many of vice activities they were a part of. That pairing resulted in a child and that child is my guest this week, Dewey Reynolds. He shares his parents story and growing up in the foster care system after they abandoned him at 6 months. He also talks about the book he wrote on his parents transgressions. This was a fascinating conversation!

YOU WANT ME TO WEAR HUMAN BONES?! Well maybe dear listener should you find today's guest and her craft one to be admired. This week for our "spooky season" episode I speak with Rocky Digati about her podcast, role in paranormal investigating, and her human bone jewelry making. We talk about how she got into making this very unique jewelry, dispelling any myths (its all ethical and very legal), and the shocked convention visitors who walk by here table and realize what that pendent or necklace is made out of exactly. This was a fun one that made what sounds a little scary and macabre into something very interesting and artistic.

What does the Shroud of Turin and Post-COVID Marketing have in common? Well at least one thing and the is Guy Powell my guest this week. Mr. Powell is a long time leader and author in the marketing world who many years ago developed an interest in all things history. This passion developed into a interest in another "passion" the Passion of the Christ where he begin studying the Shroud of Turin which (with a lot of controversy and skeptics) is thought to be the burial shroud (cloth) that Jesus was wrapped in after his crucifixion. We talk all about the 2000+ year history of that cloth and what lead to Guy writing a book about it. We finish up talking about how marketing changed completely after COVID and the strategies Guy has helped employee because of those changes with his latest book in the marketing field. Whether you are interested in the Shroud or marketing....or maybe even both I think everyone will enjoy this one. So again what does these vastly different things have in common? Guy Powell

This week I chat with professional concert pianist, Nurry Lee, about her unique career in music. We talk about how she started, what it is like being a piano pro playing in some of the world's most famous venues, and what the future holds for her in music. We also talk about a VERY different topic that was her time on a UK reality show called "Killer Camp". This week I catch back up with Larry Jorgensen who was a past guest (Episode 64- Coca Cola Trail) this time about a shipwreck (and the book he wrote about it) that happened in the Great Lakes in 1925. This wreck resulted in 248 brand new 1926 Chrysler automobiles to be unloaded and stranded on a peninsula in Upper Michigan. This is an interesting story about a major shipwreck most of us have never heard about and a small town coming together to rescue these cars and the crew onboard who almost frozen in the winter conditions.

This week is a special on for two reasons. One is a got to share the story of my grandmother growing up in 1940's Germany with you all. We met a lot of people together in this podcast, but being able to let you in on a part of my story was powerful. It was also amazing because this interview took place over ten years ago proving both that I was meant to interview people and that I had no clue about audio quality back then! Sorry for that, but I promise her amazing story is worth it! It was also special because is the ONE HUNDREDTH episode of the podcast! What a ride it has been and I am honored that you are on it with me. I talk for far to long at the beginning and end of this one about myself, how thankful I am for you listening, and most importantly how you can turn your listen into some cash with a contest I am having to celebrate 100. Check it out!

Two very different topics that Cassie Dierks will tell us how they relate in a big way for her. She tells us about the cate café phenomenon, what running one is like, and on another subject how she was able to take her love for the sport of Ninja and be featured on NBC's American Ninja Warrior. This was a fun one about two very cool topics.

This week I have an extremely powerful conversation with Lee Wong about the discrimination that people in the Asian community faces both currently and in the past in America. Mr. Wong shares the story of how he was filmed speaking about this very issue at a West Chester, Ohio trustee meeting where he voiced his unhappiness of people questioning his patriotism because he looks or speaks differently than them. What people at this meeting did not know was that he is an US Army veteran and revealed the scars on his chest to prove it. It was a thought provoking speech and one that went viral. The second part of my interview with attorney Chris Tritico. If you have not listened to last week's episode (#089) it is necessary to do that before listening this week. We pick up right where we left off and Mr. Tritico talks about the final verdict in the Oklahoma City Bombing case, the appeals process, and the emotional and human side of seeing someone he grew to understand a bit more put to death. We also speak about a tragedy in Chris' life with the murder of his daughter Maria Tritico. I was honored to hear about her and learn about the legacy she left behind. This was a powerful second half of a very interesting conversation.

This week we learn about the mostly unknown closed off world of life inside North Korea. I speak with UK citizen Zoe Stephens who has worked for a tour company for several years that takes people into the country and shows them life inside the hermit nation. This was an eye opening conversation that disproves quite a few myths about North Korea while also understanding the issues within the country as well. I learned so much and while I was not shocked to hear that the everyday citizen is normally amazing (which is often the case anywhere) I was surprised by some of the other things about North Korea Zoe teaches us. This was a really enlightening conversation looking at North Korea in a very different lens than most of us in the Western world know the country.
Disclaimer: This conversation is for learning purposes about a very unknown yet complicated place with a past and present that some would say is oppressive. While Zoe gives some opinions on the country and the myths she thinks it holds these are her opinions and should be looked at as such. This conversation should not be taken as the podcast giving an endorsement, agreement, opposition, or disagreement of what is said about North Korea.

He tells us about how this video of a 8 year old boy playing the kazoo with his friends even happened back in 1989 and what it was like becoming an internet sensation when his antics from that 80's Connecticut summer went viral almost 30 years later in 2015. This was a fun conversation about the crazy world of internet meme's and how they take on a life of their own. Brett is a really amazing guy who is still in entertainment, takes the "Kazoo Man" jokes in stride, and embraces his quirky past.

This week we speak with Ron Barker who was at the forefront of many of the college athletics scandals of the past 20 years. He investigated and uncovered infractions and scandals of athletic programs for the NCAA and later the Pac 12 conference and shares more about that very interesting world. This week I hand over a great deal of the talking to podcast host Sherman Tylawsky who teaches us about three people who played an instrumental part of what America is today. These three lived very different lives, but they all did something that lead to where we are today. Things could have looked very different for the USA and for the world without them and I bet most of us have never even heard of a single one of them. This was a great conversation about learning from past mistakes and always striving to be better, as a nation and as people. Whether you are from the US or only want to know a little more about the people who shaped it, this was an insightful conversation!

This week we dive into the world of Hasidic Jews. I speak with Shloime Zionce who is a practicing Jew in the Orthodox Hasidic Jewish faith. A faith that is largely very closed off and guarded, families do not have TV's, very few have internet, women wear wigs, and mean grow out curly sideburns (Payos). This was an extremely fascinating conversation with someone living a very different live than most people right in the heart of New York City with 100,000 other members of the faith. The goal of this conversation was to learn about the religion and the things that set it apart from most modern religions. This conversation should not be seen as an endorsement OR knock on Hasidic Judaism, but rather an engaging educational look inside a largely unknown world.

Stephanie Bingham is a paranormal historian and tell us about her life studying all things some would call creepy. We also talk about her self described ability to connect with and see ghost herself. Some other topics include her work in TV and movies and the issues with reality ghost hunting shows and scary movies. This was a great educational conversation about a sometimes scary topic and the history behind paranormal.
#Given the topic this week and it being different than most weeks please use your best judgement if this is something you would enjoy. A lot of people are curious about these things and she answers a lot of questions, but for others it might scare them. We do stay relatively educational about it all, but some stories of her encounters are included.#
This episode dives deep into the Appalachian Trail with author Jeffrey Ryan. How it started, what it is, and ultimately what it was like hiking the entire 2,000 mile trail over a 28 year span. We also talk about hiking tips and his friendship with his hiking partner who has been with him every step of the hike. His other books get mentioned too one being the story of a drug smuggling hermit. A really engaging conversation where I learned a lot!

This week is an interesting one and a podcast that truly brings someone who has done something few have accomplished. I interview Brother Eliseo Soriano, he founded a religious denomination, his current title being Overall Servant of the Members Church of God International, this church has grown to over 1,300 congregations, 6 continents, and more than 1 million followers. We talk about how he started such a movement, his struggles in the Philippines, and his current work. This is a fascinating conversation for those within his church who want to learn more about the founder and also those, like myself, who are not members and interested in exactly what it took to lead such a large group.
UPDATE: Brother Eli Soriano died on February 10, 2021 in Brazil about 4 months after this interview was conducted. The cause of his death was not released. While I am still unsure the complete reasons he was forced to leave the Philippines I had a great conversation with him. I can also say simply from the outpouring of tributes this episode received at the time of his death that he will be missed by those who followed him.
