Carnival Cruise Line is setting the bar higher and expectations for all cruise passengers aboard their ships. A few days ago, they released a letter that encourages everyone to “Have Fun, Be Safe."
“Our experience has taught us that everyone has a better time when a spirit of community and neighborliness is shown by all.”
The letter’s guidelines reinforces their policies and they clearly state they will take drastic measures to maintain the “comfort, enjoyment, safety or well-being of other guests or crew."
We share our thoughts on this timely and important letter and commend Carnival Cruise Line for taking action. What are your thoughts?

Scott recently ran across a blog post about cruising with a suspiciously clickbait title "What A Cruise Is Really Like - Fantasy Versus Reality" by Nicole Castelino. We take a dive and read through this article which was full of straw man arguments, untrue accusations and just poor writing about cruising. Why was this even published? Who is Nicole Castelino? What is Livstyl.com all about? It became more apparent as we read through this "article" we felt that an AI bot wrote this. Is this the future of cruise blogging? Listen and let's discuss. After 20 years of waiting, it is so exciting to have a brand new ship now on the west coast of California.
We were invited to the naming and dedication ceremony last week and it was a phenomenal celebration! On this show we share about everything that we saw and experienced. From Pig and Anchor to the SkyZone to Rock Revolution, this ship has it all. The ship is absolutely beautiful and is a perfect fit for us Southern Californian cruisers who enjoy the Mexican Riviera. In fact, it is a perfect fit for all cruisers!

How in the world did The Walt Disney Company come into possession of the famous cruise liner, the Queen Mary, Howard Hughes Spruce Goose airplane and over 200 acres of surrounding land at the port of Long Beach, California? Did you know that for many years they operated the Queen Mary and had plans to build a theme park, hotels, restaurants, a marina, a cruise ship terminal and even a monorail and more?
Well, we are going to "cruise back in time" with Disney historian and author, Jim Korkis to tell us this fascinating and detailed story. This was a monumental and amazing project that Disney wanted to construct. It would have been the most incredible Disney project ever and Jim has all the unbelievable information and why it was ultimately abandoned.

Well we finally get to hear from Scott and hear about some of the fun and interesting things he did with his family on their Christmas cruise on the Carnival Splendor. This was a seven day Mexican Riviera cruise roundtrip from Long Beach, California during the Christmas holiday.
The Splendor has become the family's favorite local cruise ship. They love the ship, crew, entertainment and of course the food!
The Splendor will only be in California for a few more months, then head for drydock and refurbishment in October and November then redeployed to Australia in December 2019.
Scott's family loves this holiday time cruise so much that he has convinced us to cruise with him this year on the new Carnival Panorama! You can join us too on this journey here on our special Facebook group Carnival Panorama Holiday Cruise.

It's been a rough couple of weeks.
Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and now the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas.
Scott and I take some time to share just some thoughts and how all of this has affected us and our families the last few weeks. We are thankful and grateful that our Florida relatives did not suffer great damage or injury. However, sadly, so many others were affected by these tragedies in life changing ways. How do we respond? What should we do? We discuss these things and then change gears slightly to talk about some of the good things we have notice that cruise lines have done to help those affected by the recent hurricanes.
We are all in this together. We need each other. Let's try to find a way help each other other out through all of this.

We took some time to look at and discuss how the cruise lines have responded to Hurricane Harvey and how they are preparing for Hurricane Irma - and possibly Jose and Katia. Overall, we think that all of the cruise lines are taking every precaution available. It appears that they have communicated well with their guests and safety is the number one priority.
In the short term, the cruise lines will take a financial hit because it will take awhile to reopen the ports, airports, etc. There is no way at this time to know how much damage these hurricanes might bring to the infrastructure of Florida and how long it will take to repair.
However, we think that the cruise lines will rebound over time because they put the safety of their guests first.

We have a fantastic show for you today!
Last week, Royal Caribbean announced an brand new class of ships that will be coming in 2022 and 2024. What is unique about this announcement is that these new ships, the Icon Class, will be power by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology. This is the first ever passenger cruise ship line to bring to the cruise industry a clean burning energy proportion system.
On top of that, they will be testing fuel cell technology on their Oasis and Quantum class ships to starting in 2017.
We have invited Matt Hochberg of Royal Caribbean Blog onto this week's show to discuss this "iconic" news and speculate the impact of this announcement on the cruise industry, refueling stations, testing procedures, possible of fuel surcharges and more.
Definitely, this is probably the biggest change and announcement that the cruise industry has seen in 2016. We will be watching this closely and keep you updated as information becomes available.

Scott just got back from his cruise on the Carnival Imagination. The ship just finished it's dry dock refurbishment and had some upgrades and new features added. Scott shares with us some "inside scoops" he got that are not quite well known too! From the Chef's Table to the water slides, Scott was busy trying, tasting and testing everything.

We are back - well, sort of back. Scott has been busy working in Big Bear, California and Tommy went to Walt Disney World in Florida for a few days to surprise a few of his Disney podcasting friends for a meet up and fun in the theme parks and eating, of course! Tommy has to go out of town for business this week, but we will be back together recording new shows for you starting next week.

On this new show, we have a surprise for you! Tommy and his wife drove up this last weekend to Santa Barbara to meet Sheri from CruiseTipsTV for this first time! We had wonderful time with her and her mom over lunch, shopping along State Street, the beach and the wharf. It was a beautiful California day, perfect weather, sunny and warm.
