However, leaving her home for a job became too difficult and she quit her job and returned home without any gainful employment. From Mister Rogers to Pika Bunny!
Listen as I speak with Wendy Gilhula, the author of the Pika Bunny book series for children. Wendy shares how as a child she looked up to and believed that Mister Rogers was talking directly with her. His kindness carried over into her own life and she started a journey forward to let all children know that she sees them and all the gifts they have.
For years, she kept the manuscripts for Pika Bunny in a drawer and no one in her family knew about them. Early on she did submit them to publishers, only be rejected and told “kindness is not relevant”.
But a question from one of her students, Adam, had her go back to those manuscripts and submit again. Currently, she has three books in this series, a Pika Bunny Kindness tracking app, a coloring book, and has a manuscript out for a chapter book series.
Kindness is definitely relevant and Wendy, through her Pika Bunny books, shares her kindness with children all over the world.

“Man, You Are All Messed Up!”
Listen as I speak with Greg Storch, a retired Naval Officer with 24 years of Active Duty Service and a former IT Corporate Executive from the DC area. When stress was negatively impacting his health, a nurse let him know he was “all messed up,” and he made the decision to walk away and start his own coaching, leadership, and speaking company. And to support his wife in her career—which led them to Northern Italy, just outside of Venice.
We talk about lessons learned in the Navy and how they are applicable in his civilian life, one being “we don’t do anything in life without the help of others.” Greg embodies this through his volunteer services with military staff in Italy—where he mentors many. In fact, he volunteered over 1,000 hours in 2019 and was recently selected as their Volunteer of the Year.

Know What You’re For: A Growth Strategy for Work, An Even Better Strategy for Life
Listen as I speak with Jeff Henderson—an entrepreneur, speaker, pastor, and business leader. Since 2003, Jeff has helped lead three of North Point Ministries churches in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Prior to serving as a pastor, Jeff worked in marketing with the Atlanta Braves, Callaway Gardens, Lake Lanier Islands Resorts, and Chick-fil-A, Inc., where he led the company’s sports and beverage marketing efforts.
Jeff shares the lesson he learned from S. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A: “when you are more interested in the business growing people than the people growing the business” that is when you see significance. Jeff embodies this lesson daily.
He shares his insights from both the non-profit and for-profit world and how each can learn from one another. And his recently published book “Know What You’re For: A Growth Strategy for Work, An Even Better Strategy for Life” is a must read to improve your business, but more importantly to improve your life. The two questions that he walks you through are game changers if you lean into them.

Following the Platinum Rule
Listen as I speak with Candace Gruber, CEO of Candace Mae Training and Services. Candace is a “personal growth junkie” since the age of 13. Daily she betters herself so she can make a stronger impact while working more effectively with her clients—meeting them where they are at.
Since finding her voice at the dinner table, as a young girl, Candace continues to be her authentic self and focuses on becoming even more aware while also helping those in her life become more aware to be their best self.
The Platinum Rule says to treat others the way they want to be treated, rather than the Golden Rule which says to treat others the way you want be treated. This simple yet profound mindset shift is a core component of her training and leadership development services.
Communication through genuine connection is one of the foundations of growing high performance teams. Connection lets others know they matter, allow individuals to work in their strengths, and augment holes with other team members who have the strengths needed.

Listen in as I explain the Law of Expansion—and no, not talking about our waistbands due to all the cannoli. Instead, I am talking about how we can each expand our capacity—to reach our full potential.
Each of these individuals in this picture had an impact on my reaching my full potential. Pictured from left to right, Uncle Joe, Dad, Aunt Virginia, and Uncle Johnny.
I recall Uncle Johnny pulling me aside from standing at my Dad’s casket at the funeral home. He put his arm around me and said “You can talk to anyone. And you are comforting them all at a time when you need comfort.” He then took me outside for a shot of whiskey! But his words are still with me these days and illustrate my efforts to guide others through life’s situations.
