If you are creating content with the goal of monetizing, then your content creation is a business. However, how you monetize or turn your content into a business is up to you - and there are two terms we hear floating around a lot to describe those ways of creating content as a means to make money - and that’s Influencer or Content Creator. While some people see these terms as synonyms (and truly there is not actual dictionary definition) but the way I see it - they describe two distinct ways of approaching a content business online. So today I want to break them both down for you - and help you figure out which approach will work better for you and your goals.

Get the Social Media Trends Report by Dash Hudson, FREE!: https://www.dashhudson.com/creatorclub 📊 thanks to Dash Hudson for sponsoring the Creator Club Podcast! | Your first 1000 YouTube subscribers are going to be the hardest to obtain, once you cross that threshold, I promise things will start to feel a little bit easier. Okay - let’s be real, YouTube never feels easier - but, each and every subscriber will be easier to get than your first 1000.

Why are these early stages so difficult for growth? It’s because YouTube doesn’t know anything about you or your content yet. In the beginning, it’s like making your very first impression with someone; you don’t know each other yet, your background, your personality, or your expertise - all of that stuff you still need to share, and prove. You’ve gotta built trust.

Once you built that “trust” with the algorithm, it will start to recommend your videos more and more, which will help to grow your audience.

So today’s podcast, I really want to share with you five steps that will help you reach your first 1000 subscribers the right way, building trust with the platform (and your viewers) in a way that will help you grow more in the long term.

Get the Social Media Trends Report by Dash Hudson, FREE!: https://www.dashhudson.com/creatorclub 📊 thanks to Dash Hudson for sponsoring the Creator Club Podcast! | This is maybe cringey to say, but my proudest accomplishment is that I am a full-time content creator. This honestly was always my dream job. I was an awkward 12-year-old when I first started my YouTube channel, and of course, it’s grown and changed a lot over the years, but one thing never changed: I was determined to do whatever it takes to make this work for me.

Now, I know a lot of y’all are working towards being a full-time creator as well - but at the moment, you’re most likely a full-time something else. And unfortunately, it’s not viable for most people to up and leave their job to focus on making content full-time. And look, I would not advise that, actually. It’s probably not going to be the most responsible move. So instead, you need to find ways to balance being a full-time whatever AND creating content, and creating enough content, consistently enough, that you grow an audience that can support you as a full-time creator.

I’ll be honest; I’ve never actually worked a “corporate job,” as an adult - but I do know what it’s like to balance content creation with other work. I started really focusing on creating content when I was a full-time student - I was doing a more-than-full course load, working a part-time job, doing extracurriculars, and making multiple YouTube videos per week. (They weren’t necessarily good videos, but hey - I was trying)

When coming out of university, I worked as a freelancer doing videography for weddings and even real estate. No matter what I was doing, in my spare time, I was working on building my own content creation business. Eventually, I grew my freelance work into an agency, Creatorly Media - with a team that works with our clients. So even now - I’m a small business owner, and a content creator - and now, I’ve started another brand on the side (my van life vlog channel) in addition to my YouTube channel, podcast, and Instagram.

All of this is to say - while I’ve technically never balanced an “adult full-time job” with being a content creator - I’ve certainly had times in my life where I have a lot of different things going on, and I’ve learned ways to prioritize content creation in the midst of all that.

Over the years, while working on this, I developed a few strategies that I think will help you grow as a content creator while balancing a full-time job. So let’s get into it!

Get the Social Media Trends Report by Dash Hudson, FREE!: https://www.dashhudson.com/creatorclub 📊 thanks to Dash Hudson for sponsoring the Creator Club Podcast! | Honestly, it was only really in 2023 that I "saw the light" when it comes to digital products. I really started experimenting with digital products in 2022 - before that, I really hadn’t ventured into the space. However, my digital product strategy wasn’t very - well, strategic. I sort of was just making products here and there and seeing what stuck. But over the last year, throughout 2023, I learned a lot about how if you just simplify your offering and make sure that it will be actually useful to your community, you will see a change in sales.

Today I am excited to share how I went from $0 in digital product income in 2021, to $80,000+ in the last two years in digital product sales, and how you can implement the same strategies to make digital products a part of your income streams as a creator.

However, I hit a certain age when I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up: a content creator. I didn’t know what that would look like for me, and I have changed directions with my content a lot over the 12+ years I have been creating, but one thing never changed: my desire to be a content creator.

It's awesome; I am one of those people, and I wish I would’ve had access to these types of creators when I was first starting out. But I didn’t, and I figured it out the hard way. Are you stuck in that pattern of waking up each morning refreshing your YouTube studio stats to see if magically one of your videos finally went viral and your subscriber count and watch time has skyrocketed overnight? Yeah, I have been there. Heck - I still religiously obsess over my YouTube stats (not saying that’s healthy, but it’s the reality). I have been on YouTube for a long time and because of that - I have learned a lot about what NOT to do on YouTube and what can truly help you grow. So, today I want to share with your why I think your YouTube channel might be hitting a wall (and how you can push that wall down to finally see some growth).

(This is a repurposed podcast episode from last year. So good, we decided to post it again.)

Despite what you might have heard, there is no perfect formula for calculating your rates as a creator - there are so many factors involved that aren’t just the size of your audience. The niche you’re in, the size of the brands that you’re partnering with, the deliverables you’re offering - and many other factors will help determine what you can reasonably charge (aka what brands will agree to)

But these same struggles surpass just setting your brand deal rates - we know as creators how important it is to have multiple streams of income - so as you expand into selling digital products, maybe offering services, or even opening a membership, you need to figure out how to price those things as well.

I’ve definitely struggled with setting prices in the past, but through my journey as an entrepreneur (if you didn’t know, I’m the founder of a creative agency called Creatorly Media) learning to negotiate, learning to know my worth - I’ve settled on some processes for coming up with pricing that I wanna share with you today.

The reality is, the vast majority of YouTube channels will never become financially successful. In fact, out of the 100 million YouTube creators, only 10 million channels have surpassed 1000 subscribers. That means that if you have 1000 subscribers, you're in the top 10% of all YouTube creators. The other 90 million never made it that far.

In my over ten years of creating content on this platform, I've found that there are really 5 main reasons why the majority of YouTube channels 'fail' or fail to grow into a consistent form of income for the creator. And guess what? It has nothing to do with having the right camera, using the 'best' editing software, or even knowing the latest changes to the algorithm.

So in today's episode, we're going to dive deep into these 5 things that might be holding you back from seeing success on YouTube. But before we get started, I have a special announcement for you. Since then, brand deals have become an increasingly significant part of my own income, and it’s seriously such a pleasure to get to partner with brands that I personally love and respect - and share them with my audience. So I want to teach you how you can do the same (because for many of us creators, it means finally getting paid to make the content that we probably would have made for free anyway!) But here’s the thing: I’m not just going to talk about how you can start pitching brands - that’s great and all, but the real business is getting brands to come to you. And if you want to the end of the video, I’m going to tell you how to do just that.

Being a content creator requires a wide range of skills, from copywriting to video editing to social media and marketing strategy. However, the most important and universal skill that creators need is confidence. I really think of it as a skill, not something you're necessarily born with, but something you can develop over time. It can truly make the difference between a successful creator career and being too scared to start in the first place.

When I first started my YouTube channel, all I ever dreamed of was reaching 100,000 subscribers and receiving that play button - and finally feeling confident and fulfilled. News flash: that didn’t happen. Because frankly? Subscribers don’t matter. You don’t need a lot of subscribers on YouTube to be successful - and in fact, my only goal on YouTube has completely shifted, and it’s changed the way I think about my YouTube growth strategy in general. In today’s episode, we will not only cover why subscribers don’t really matter (and why you shouldn’t bother asking for them) and what actually matters instead. Let’s get into it!

We’ve all heard the advice at this point - posting consistently is key to growing on YouTube. But how do you actually implement that advice? What I’ve learned is: you need to treat YouTube like a habit. Just like brushing your teeth, or going for your silly little walks for your silly little mental health - you build up habits over time and eventually, it becomes second nature. That’s the beauty of the 8 habits I’m going to talk about today - once you start doing them, and you practice doing them over and over again - eventually, it does get easier. And posting consistently on YouTube will start to feel more like a normal part of your life- and less like a gargantuan task that you feel the need to procrastinate.

Looking back on my more-than-a-decade on YouTube, I've realized that one major mistake has held me back from seeing much more growth, engagement, and more business opportunities than I've already had. And don't get me wrong: I feel really grateful for how far I've come. I just know that I could've gotten here faster and with less struggle had I not made this mistake. And hopefully, I can keep you from making it as well.

So, in this episode, we are going to talk about what I did wrong with my YouTube channel, especially in the early days, that kept me from growing faster. And what I'm doing now to fix it. Let's get into it.

As a college dropout with .81 cents to her name and living at her grandma's house in Wisconsin, Molly started her first business, a photography business, by knocking on doors. Within a few years, she had grown that to a multiple 6-figure per year photo studio, and other photographers started asking her how she did it. Building a community is more than growing your audience and following on social media - it’s about creating something powerful, something your community wants to be a part of.

One massive mistake that so many creators are making is focusing all of their effort on gaining more followers, increasing their audience size, and seeing that number next to their name go up and up. But then, the people who are already following them - their existing audience - are basically ignored.

Listen - you don’t need more followers. If you want to be successful as a creator, and grow a sustainable creator business - you don’t need a big audience. What you need is a community and to understand what they want from you.

So, today we are going to talk about how you can actually put this into action - this is how to turn your audience, into a true community and how you can integrate that strong community into your plan for monetization as well. Let’s do this!

When you think about how content creators make an income, one of the first things that you think about is brand partnerships.

Personally, this is one of my biggest income streams each month and so regardless if you are a beginner or a seasoned content creator, when you see a brand partnership request come through your inbox, you can’t help but be a little excited. But one of the biggest mistakes I see beginner content creators doing is letting that excitement cloud their judgment and responding to, or accepting any and all brand requests.

We have all been there, most seasoned creators will probably tell you they were scammed at least once or twice. But the longer you do this, the more you can spot, not only scams but also brands that are disrespecting the creator with their lowball request. Today I’m going to share with you how to tell the difference between a legitimate brand partnership request, and how to avoid being scammed by the rest. Let’s do this!

In the past few months I went from having just over 30,000 followers on Instagram to 76,000 - and listen: I’m not using all the typical tips and hacks you hear. I don’t edit my Reels in the Reels editor, I’m not using a ton of hashtags, or being super specific about the time that I post at. And my top-performing videos aren’t necessarily even following trends! You don’t need to use all of those popular tactics to grow with Reels, and in fact, I think sometimes creators get so caught up in all those little tricks that it holds them back - because they miss out on implementing the strategies that actually help you grow.

So in this episode, I’m going to tell you how I make Reels that help you grow - Reels that get 20K, 50K, and even 100K views and healthy engagement. Let’s do it!

Instagram has over 1.32 billion active users worldwide… and because of that, it’s a great way for content creators or brands to grow and widen their audience. However, starting from zero can be a daunting task.

But, as the Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, once said…“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”

And that couldn’t be more true. Honestly, I imagine where I would be now if I wouldn’t have just started all those years ago. It’s been a really long journey and there were many times when I questioned if it was worth it, but now, seeing where it has all taken me, I know it was. In my opinion, the hurdle of those first 1000 followers can be the hardest. If you can get over that hump sometimes it’s all the inspiration and momentum you need to get that ball rolling.

So today, I want to really break it down and give you some actionable steps that you can take to get to those first 1000 followers. This is a no-BS approach, no gimmicks, no hacks, just literal steps that you should be taking if you want to take this whole “Instagram thing“ seriously. so, let’s do this.

It's easy to fall victim to the fear of judgment from others. We tend to hold back from expressing ourselves or pursuing our passions for fear of being labeled as "weird" or "cringy". But let me tell you… you should never let the fear of social judgment hold you back from pursuing a career in content creation. I know that can be easier said than done, but I have learned from experience - it’s worth it. I have been on YouTube for over 10 years and the majority of my older videos can only be described as awkward and cringy, but if I hadn’t started then (despite how others might have felt about it), I would never be where I am now. But, feeling cringe never truly goes away - it’s more about embracing it and loving yourself, cringe and all. Today, I want to talk to you about why I love being cringy, and why you should too…and I will give you some tips on how to get there. Let’s do this!

When starting out as a content creator, it's easy to feel like you need to be everything to everyone. You want to appeal to the widest possible audience and cover as many topics as possible. But I know from experience that this approach can actually hinder your growth as a creator (and lead you straight to burnout) By trying to be everything to everyone, you end up diluting your message and losing the interest of your audience… and it’s just exhausting!

Instead, it's important to find your niche and establish yourself as an authority in that area. This allows you to attract a dedicated following of people who are interested in what you have to say and what you have to offer.

But how do you find your niche without feeling like you're putting yourself in a box? That’s what we will be discussing in today’s episodes!

So you're thinking of starting a podcast in 2023? Even though the podcast world has the reputation of being oversaturated, we’ve all seen the memes, the fact is, there is still a lot of space for high-quality, well-produced podcasts to shine through. And before you get discouraged - it doesn't take a ton of money or years of expertise to create a great podcast. More than anything, you just need interesting subject matter, and a passion for talking about it - and all the other technical details will sort themselves out.

On YouTube, I made the ultimate guide to starting a podcast, where I go over all the technical bits. I’ll have a lead in the show notes. But today, we're going to talk about growth and how to set the foundation for a successful podcast in 2023. And what exactly does a successful podcast mean?

As you may be familiar with, creators are able to make pretty significant incomes from podcasts. According to this awesome video from Shelby Church, podcasts with high listenership can be making tens of thousands of dollars per episode. Even podcasts with more modest listenership, like mine, can generate sustainable revenue. Not only can you monetize a podcast in the traditional sense of selling sponsorship slots, but you can also use a podcast to generate leads to your business - which is a big part of my personal podcast strategy. Even without considering the financial side, podcasts can be a great way to grow your audience, funnel them to your other platforms like Instagram or Youtube, and make new connections and learn new creative skills.

If you weren't already convinced to start your podcast journey this year, now you might be - so let's get into my 5 steps for starting a growing a successful podcast!

I have been the repurposing queen for years now and I am always recommending this to other content creators, especially when they’re first starting out. Most of us have heard the phrase “don’t reinvent the wheel”. If not, the definition is “attempting to duplicate—most likely with inferior results—a basic method that has already previously been created or optimized by others.” In this case, “others” is… well, you. Why always start from scratch when you have perfectly good content, thoughts, and ideas that you have already generated? Today I want to dive into the importance of repurposing but also set the record straight on how you’re supposed to be repurposing. Because from what I keep seeing online, most people are doing it wrong. Let’s do this!

For most of 2022, my TikTok growth was totally stagnant, but, in just a couple of months I have gained over 10,000 new followers - by implementing just one simple strategy.

I really feel like TikTok has changed a lot since it first blew up in early 2020 - and the way that creators are growing on TikTok has changed, too. For so long my growth was stagnant - I had a few early viral TikToks that had gained me around 14K followers, but I couldn’t seem to push past it. I was trying to follow trends, share videos off-the-cuff, since casual content seems to do better. But then I tried something new - and that’s what got me out of my TikTok rut and past 25,000 followers (and still growing). Today, I’m going to share my TikTok growth strategy for 2023 - and show you how it’s already working.

Y’all - is anyone else feeling the winter blues? Once February hits and spring is around the corner, it’s almost like time stands still and your mental health takes a hit. You start the year with so much renewed energy and motivation and somehow a month later things start going downhill. I am all about the cozy winter vibes - hot drinks, warm blankets, and fuzzy slippers - but that can only help you so much. Staying happy and motivated through dark mornings, gloomy days, and early nights is a particular struggle for those who suffer from seasonal depression and who find the lack of sunlight disrupts their internal clock and reduces the amount of serotonin (the happiness chemical) their bodies produce. So… what can we do about it? That’s what I will be talking about in this episode, so stay tuned.

Confession time: I have never had a ‘real job’ - by that I mean, a full-time, post-grad, adult, work-for-someone-else job. Of course, I had many part-time jobs when I was a student from selling candles and lotions at the mall to waitressing at my hometown diner. But ever since I graduated in 2018, I dove straight into full-time freelance, and in the past nearly 5 years, I’ve grown a boutique social media marketing agency called Creatorly Media, that generates six figures in revenue. I’ll just be transparent, this was my first year passing $300,000 in sales, and while I know there are lots of gurus on social media bragging about making way more than that - I’m pretty proud of it. As we make our way into the New Year, it’s time to reflect back on 2021 and make a plan for our brands and businesses for 2022. When doing an annual review, most businesses focus on the bottom line and how much money they made - but it should really be more than that. We should focus on our achievements and downfalls outside of finances too! Information is key when making a roadmap for your 2022 marketing plan. What worked? What didn’t? What will you change? What will stay the same?

When making your plans for 2022, you need to do a full year-end audit. Maya Angelou said it best, “You can’t really know where you are going until you know where you have been.” Here are a few things you should plan to evaluate from 2021.

Your messaging and language.

Your connection with your audience.

Your current social media platforms.

Your advertising and email marketing.

...and your overall happiness with what you have achieved.

You might be surprised by the results!!!

Meyer, who many consider to be the founder of the self-improvement industry as it exists today said - “Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” If you are ready to commit and save yourself a lot of time and stress, keep on listening!

We chat a lot about building your brand or business online, but what about a personal brand? What if you are trying to build a brand that is centered around you? Here is a quote by the ever so popular Gary Vaynerchuk, “Documenting your journey versus creating an image of yourself is the difference between saying “You should…” versus “my intuition says…”. Get it? It changes everything. I believe that the people who are willing to discuss their journeys instead of trying to front themselves as the “next big thing” are going to win.”

Gary is actually the perfect example of a personal brand - most of us know of him for his advice about social media and entrepreneurism, but did you know he was first known as a wine critic who expanded his family's wine business? But he is now more known for his work in digital marketing and social media.

If you want the formula for personal brand success, stick around and grab your pen and paper - because I’m going to tell you exactly how in this episode!

Regarding the content planning strategy will change your Instagram life, let’s break this content planning strategy into 4 easy to follow steps!

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Step 1: Brainstorming Sesh

With our Creatorly Media Instagram Content & Strategy package, we sit down with our clients for a one-hour strategy meeting to discuss their goals, get a sense of their brand & voice, and get an idea of what they would like to share with their audience in that given month - but when you are doing this on your own, I think it’s important to have a “strategy meeting” with yourself.

Step 2: Identifying your Goals

It’s now time to take that information from your brainstorming sesh and figure out how that translates into an effective Instagram Strategy that will help you achieve the goals you early decided were important for you this month.

Step 3: Plan your content pillars

Creativity thrives under constraints, so this step in this strategy process is very important. It’s time to break down your niche into subtopics or what I like to call - pillars.

Step 4: Create the content calendar

Now that you have a general sense of the balance between the different types of posts you are going to use in your strategy, it’s time to build out our content calendar. You will actually get access to a free 90-day content calendar in the workshop so that you can plan your content for a full quarter.

Have you ever struggled with coming up with content ideas for Instagram? We have all been there! It is very intimidating staring at a blank document, but there is a very simple solution to this problem - Content Pillars. Developing content pillars can help you stay organized, be more consistent for your audience, and ignite your creativity. Content Pillars really form the foundation of your overall content strategy. We like to think of content pillars as more of the intersection between your goals as a business and what your audience would find valuable. Keep listening to learn more!

I launched my new Instagram account for my social media content creation agency, Creatorly Media, on June 3rd, 2021 - and now, as I record this on August 11, 2021, we've just hit 1700 followers on the account. Right now, the Creatorly Media account is growing at a faster and more reliable rate than my own personal account which was originally the driving force behind this business, and today I want to tell you why that's happening. Specifically - how I was able to get the Creatorly Media account to hit 1000 followers within a month of launching - and how we're on track to hit 2000 before the account hits 3 months old. This strategy will work best for you if you're also trying to grow a business or brand account, and even if you're growing a personal brand or influencer account, I think you'll find some helpful nuggets throughout this episode that will help you augment your growth as well. Don't hit that pause button - and let's get into it!

Over the years I’ve spent making Youtube videos, I’ve met so many friends and acquaintances that tell me “I think it would be so fun to start a YouTube channel, I just don’t think I could do it.”

Can you relate? Have you ever found yourself saying that?

You have no idea how discouraging I find that response.

I want you to start a YouTube channel, heck, I want everyone who’s ever thought to themselves that they might like to start one, to start one. I honestly believe that everyone has something they can gain from it - it might not be a large audience or fame or fortune, but it could certainly be improving in their skills, finding a like minded community, or gaining confidence.

So why do so many people who have an interest in this platform have hesitations about starting it? I asked my Instagram audience if they had ever thought about starting a YouTube channel and over 80% said they had. Then, I asked them why they hadn’t started yet.

In this episode, I want to tackle the top 5 fears potential creators have when they are considering starting a YouTube channel, and I’m going to tell you exactly how you can move past them and start creating those videos you’ve thought about making for so long.

As mentioned in the episode, you can sign up for the waitlist for our first-ever content batching workshop at www.creatorlymedia.com/workshop

Here's the honest truth: if you want to grow your online presence, on any social media platform, the hardest part is going to be creating enough content to get noticed, and doing it on a consistent basis. Over the years of working in social media marketing, chatting with clients or folks that I've done coaching with, the trend that seems to be present among pretty much much every creator or online entrepreneur is that they'd like to grow their following online quickly, but they don't have a lot of time to invest in content creation. And this is the ultimate problem, because you need to publish a lot of content over a long period of time to grow, and it takes a lot of time to create content - or does it? Okay, yes, it does take time to make good content, but there are some strategies and processes that you can use to make everything more efficient. And that's exactly what we're going to do a deep dive into in this episode.

Let's talk analytics. Trust me, I know it can sound totally boring, and if you're like me you might resist looking at stats because you get into being a creator expressly because numbers were not your thing - but here's the deal: understanding your Instagram insights can be a huge benefit to your and your growth. Even though the conversation about insights and the algorithm often sounds like it's a case of creators versus our robot overlords, the truth is much less scary and a lot more boring. Your Instagram insights are simply a reflection of how your audience is responding to your content. Your Insights are a direct reflection of how your audience responded to your content, whether it was engaging and therefore whether the algorithms pushed that content to more of your audience or if it more or less stayed among only your die-hard fans.

If you have spent any time on Instagram in the last couple weeks, then undoubtably you've come across the news that Instagram is changing! I know, it sounds so scary, and frustrating - but changes are a natural part of the evolution of any social media app, and while it might seem overwhelming at first, they will eventually feel second-nature. For example, remember when Instagram stories were introduced? Creators and businesses felt uncertain about the change, but now stories are the most popular feature of the app! The point is, you don't need to feel overwhelmed or intimidated, because we're going to walk through all the major changes coming to Instagram, as announced by the head of Instagram himself, Adam Mosseri, and how they are going to help you grow.

As you're growing your business, chances are you will eventually reach a point where you realize you need help with your social media management. Even if you started off as a solo-preneur who ran everything from your bookkeeping to the business TikTok, eventually there will come a point where you just simply don't have the time anymore. For entrepreneurs passionate about social media, this can be a hard transition, but a very important one. When it comes to succeeding and scaling your business further, you've really got to focus your time in your areas of genius - the parts of your business that only you can move the needle on. And, most likely, social media will not fall into that category.

So, you need help with your social media management, you're ready to delegate, and you find yourself at a fork in the road. Should you outsource, maybe to an agency or a freelancer? Or, should you hire internally, and add either a full-time or part-time social media manager to your team? Both choices have advantages, and disadvantages, and in this article we're going to walk you through the three main categories of consideration, and how both options stack up. These categories are: systems, expertise, and cost - in my view, these are the three main areas where outsourcing and hiring differ. When it comes down to it, both of these options can be great, and offer wonderful results for your buisness, but it's important to understand how they can offer a different experience, and to figure out which experience is going to work the best with your style as an entrepreneur.

And finally, before we dive into the comparisons, as a personal disclaimer: obviously, I am the owner of a social media content creation agency. So, I'm going to be a bit biased in my reccomendations - however, I have also have had experiences with clients where I knew that hiring internally probably would have been a better option for them, and so we parted ways because of that. Yes, of course I would love for your to hire Creatorly Media to produce your Instagram content and beyond - but if you're truly in a position where hiring a social media manager internally would be the better choice for you, I'm going to be honest with you and tell you that's the case. So with that being said, let's get into the discussion: when you're looking for social media help should you hire internally, or outsource?

We all know that engagement is an extremely important indicator of a successful Instagram strategy. An Instagram account that has a ton of followers, but no real community, isn’t actually going to be useful for marketing at all. Whether you’re growing your account in order to sell your own products, or because you want to be able to do brand collaborations and market products for other companies, having a high engagement rate is essential to making those goals happen.

But how do you generate real engagement on your Instagram content? There are so many resources online that provide tips and advice on this topic - some of them more helpful than others. In this post, we’re going to run through the top five Instagram engagement strategies that DO NOT work - and at the end of the post, we’ll give you a few hints about what might.

You just have to work on getting the content you already have in the hands of more people.” So how can we breathe new life into old content? Keep listening!

We all know 2020 was quite the year, and it certainly did not turn out how many of us expected it to. I went into 2020 with a few goals. I wanted to reach 70K on youtube, 15K on Instagram, 5K on my email list, 70K in sales gross, and visit 5 new places.

While my travel goals totally tanked (whos’ didn’t?) I actually blew my business goals out of the water. Now, this is something I hold with a light grasp, and also view with a lot of complex feelings because I know not everyone had a year like me. I saw so many amazing local businesses close because of the effects of the pandemic, and so I’ve always been a bit hesitant to share about how much my business has grown. But you know that I’m all about honesty and so, now that we’re a solid year into this I thought I would share a retrospective on my business and all the major changes it's made. Because even though this past year has probably been one of the hardest for me personally (like I’m sure is the case for many people), it was the most successful year for me professionally.

Okay, is Pinterest still a thing? Be honest, is that what you thought when you read the title of this episode?

For many of us, our time these days is being sucked up by creating short form videos for TikTok and Instagram reels, and marketing using Pinterest can feel like an artifact of the bygone era of blogging.

But trust me friend, Pinterest is just as important as ever when it comes to generating and driving traffic to your content. A lot of us creators spend 90% of our time creating content, and only 10% of that time promoting it - which makes sense. We love creating, and self-promotion can often feel icky.

But the fact is, that content that you worked so hard on, it needs some extra love and care to get the attention it deserves. This is where Pinterest comes in. In today’s episode I’m going to talk about how to use Pinterest to promote your content across platforms, drive traffic, and ultimately increase your following and your customers by using a simple, time saving system to promote your best content. Sound like a plan? Let’s get into it.

I’ll be honest… a question that I run into a lot myself is this: “How do I balance my personal brand with growing my business?” Now, in my case, my personal brand really is my business. However, even though both these areas are all working towards the same goals, the question still stands of how much to post about personal lifestyle content and how much to just straight up promote my business. It’s a delicate balance that can be hard to strike. I’ve done countless Instagram audits for my clients at this point, and a common question almost everyone wants to know is how can they better integrate more personal brand touches in with the business side of their brand. So, in today’s episode we’re going to talk through how to find that fine balance between the personal and the professional, and figure out what kind of content really serves you well in terms of your personal goals for social media growth and for business income.
