We come to this place for magic, and what’s more magical than a breathy-voiced Nicole Kidman going up against alien spores with nothing but a handgun and a montage of unexpected high paced action sequences? Nothing, friends. The answer is nothing! Ok, well… a lot. Still, when you’re talking about an overlooked and relatively obscure mid-2000’s attempt at action-horror film such as 2007’s The Invasion, there’s plenty of nonsense for Troy and Roger to discuss! From a charming, yet severely underutilized Daniel Craig, to an even more underutilized blink and you’ll miss her appearance from a young Malin Akerman, to a surprise cameo appearance from none other than Nicole Kidman's nipples clear as day through a white T-shirt, how could these gays resist taking off on yet another out of this world review for this week’s episode!

It’s finally time for Troy and Roger to review one of the best remakes of our time, 2005s criminally underrated “House of Wax”. Like, what more could they have given us with this one?! You’re getting a sensible brunette Elisha Cuthbert donning a wife beater and losing fingers, Chad Michael Murray in his prime looking all sweaty and shirtless, some of the absolute best kill sequences we’ve seen post-millennium, and that chase… oh that chase… you know exactly the one we’re talking about! It’s there’s one thing we know about the boys of Dark Night of the Podcast, it’s that they love themselves a proper, masculine, truck-driving lesbian! And few lesbians read quite as lesbianic as the androgynous and truly badass Marie from the ever-divisive 2003 French gore-fest High Tension. This early Alexandre Aja title has caused much contention amongst horror fans and for good reason; it throws a serious curveball at its viewers that has led to many a raised eyebrow and plenty of room for debate. But controversies aside, this movie also offers viewers some truly intense moments of drawn out suspense, a cement saw vs a car windshield, a man receiving oral pleasures from a decapitated head, and one of the best executions of a throat cutting to date. For their 99th full length episode, Troy and Roger head on down to the Louisiana bayou where they prepare to tackle the illusive and practically forgotten 2005 slasher offering Venom, a title that all but faded into obscurity following its overwhelming unsuccessful release. Is the practically unanimous poor reception from reviewers and moviegoers alike for good reason, or is there a hidden gem here buried in a suitcase beneath the dirt along with all of those godawful cgi snakes? That’s for the gays to decide, so jump inside Ray Sawyers shitty old tow truck and listen along as they banter over their opinions on related topics such as whether or not facial scars make white trash truck drivers more or less appealing, the problems with introducing major points of character development that ultimately serve little to no purpose, the questionable decision of killing off all of the African American actors in a movie focused around the intricacies of voodoo, the ongoing curse that is Agnus Bruckner’s acting career, and the many MANY issues they have with the usage of CGI blood. So does Venom** deserve the bad wrap, or can it be milked of all of that bad juju and earn its rightful place in the slasher hall of fame? You’ll just have to listen to find out! Allow yourselves to be seduced as your favorite gays romance you with their heavy European accents, discussing in depth enticing topics such as the undeniable allure of one Bijou Phillips, heavily implied lesbian undertones and why we’re absolutely here for them, the many reasons why nobody would actually want to go to Slovakia and yet for some reason… here we are, and that scene… yes THAT scene featuring the doe eyed Heather Matarazzo! You know the one we’re talking about, and if you don’t you better friggin’ watch it immediately! So raise your glass of apple cider and brace yourselves for some sexy good times, because it’s time for a toast! Nostrovia! To your health!

Things are coming full circle as Troy and Roger dive into their first ever REDUX episode, allowing them to once again get hot and bothered as they sensually tackle the groundbreaking 2004 gay slasher Hellbent! So just in case they didn’t make it all to clear the first time around, let these two old queers hit home the fact that they really, really love this movie! They love the gayness, they love the gore, and they sure as hell love all that eye candy because giiiirl… the boys in this flick are truly FINE! So treat yourselves to a hearty second helping, and indulge with them as they discuss (yet again) the pure sex appeal that is actor Bryan Kirkwood, the ever-questionable decision to prominently incorporate the involvement of a glass eyeball, the many undeniable perks of having a serial killer with a rock-hard physique, and the simply undeniable allure of an ass in blue! It’s time sharpen that sickle, throw on your cowboy hat, and help your favorite twink into his brand new harness… because the boys are getting ready to double-dip into Hellbent!

The gayety continues as the boys opt to follow up one creature-centric feature with another, but be assured… this is a very different feature showcasing some very different creatures. Plural. Very, VERY plural. For their latest episode, Troy and Roger joyously welcome friend and fellow movie reviewer, musician, author, and social media personality Kyle Haines to discuss his phenomenal recommendation, the obscure and often overlooked 2003 remake of Willard! Join them as they converse and contemplate over intriguing topics such as the fact that no one… literally no one in the industry can play creepy and unhinged quite like Crispin Glover, the harsh reality that any man who parts his hair in the middle has automatically set his life up for failure, Rogers strange and intense obsession with frail and incontinent elderly women, whether or not a rat should have the ability to give a nuanced and layered acting performance, and why there absolutely needs to be more eligible awards for animal wranglers in film because Jesus Christ, this is some truly impressive shit that’s pulled off here! So gather up all of your little furry friends, but maybe consider leaving the cat outside for this one… seriously, just trust us!

Troy and Roger been waiting for tonight (whoa-oh!) for longer than they care to admit, and it’s FINALLY time for them to discuss two of their favorite topics of all time… Jennifer Lopez and big fuckin’ snakes! Join the guys as they delve deep into the lush rainforests of Brazil to discuss everyone’s favorite “so bad it’s good” mid-90s creature feature Anaconda! Get swept away with them as they make their way down the Amazon river, and allow them to beguile you as they discuss important and applicable topics such as notably bad movies that are made significantly more palatable thanks to their surprisingly competent digital effects, the fact that Owen Wilson can only play characters that act and sound exactly like Owen Wilson, the common inability to accurately pronounce Kari Wuhrer’s last name, and the mysterious origins of Jon Voights unique and indistinguishable accent. Trust these gays when they warn you that THIS Anaconda don’t want none unless you’ve got buns hun, and that’s why JLo needs to watch her ample and curvaceous backside as she prepares to go into battle! Now hurry up and regurgitate your latest meal so you can properly treat yourself to a fresh helping of Dark Night of the Podcast!

Get ready for Troy and Roger to do Hollywood as they dive deep into Brian DePalma’s 1984 erotic thriller Body Double. We’re talking Mrs. Doubtfire-quality prosthetic applications, power drill kills that aren’t the ones from Slumber Party Massacre, Brinke Stevens in a movie that isn’t Slumber Party Massacre, a dog so irrationally violent that it’s in fact the scariest aspect of the film, and whether or not one’s claustrophobia is warranted when standing inside a relatively spacious pedestrian tunnel.
