Why You Should Create a Brand That Some People Will Hate: Branding Tips for Business, with Craig Gillespie
This week I’m joined by Brand Designer Craig Gillespie, who talks to me about a topic that affects every business – branding.
It’s so important to establish the correct branding for a business because it acts a shop window for consumers to see what you’re about and what you offer. Getting the right branding design can set you apart in a crowded market; hence why it’s so crucial to get it on-point.
Craig discusses how to focus branding on an ‘ideal client’ and why creating a brand that some people may hate can actually be a good thing.

What Does Fitness Look like Post-Covid? with Lincoln Bryden
Joining me for this week's podcast is ex-professional cricketer and fitness business coach Lincoln Bryden.
Lincoln chats to me about how the fitness industry has changed post-Covid and how, as fitness professionals, we'll continue to connect and inspire our clientele going forward.
You can follow Lincoln on Instagram @lincolnbryden
While social media is a great asset to connect with followers, it can be used to skew attitudes on how popular and successful someone truly is. It’s also easy to get caught up in the race for followers, likes and constant engagement. The fitness world is amongst the most prevalent of sectors that pop-up on newsfeeds, with countless posts about diet tips, suggested workouts and, of course, those gym-mirror selfies. This has been exacerbated by the pandemic, when fitness professionals moved their business – and clients – online. Joining me to talk through this ever-changing issue is three fitness experts who, like me, are part of the Bio-Synergy Team: Emma Goodman-Horne, Daniel Herman and Marvin Ambrosius. Join us for a fun, all-ranging chat about the pros and cons of social media.

The Importance of Cooking Wholesome Food, with Simon Christou
Joining me for this week’s episode is Fitness Prep coach and Competitor, Simon Christou. Simon chats to me about one of my favourite all-time topics … food! To reach our fitness goals and feel healthy, we need to fuel our bodies with the correct sustenance. But with busy lives and the temptation and convenience of fast food and takeaways, many of us buy food that’s already prepared. The problem with this is that convenience food is loaded with sugar, salts and bad fats. The solution? To cook MORE of our food from scratch. Simon joins me to discuss the reasons behind this, along with dispelling past food myths. If you need a muscle-building programme and tailored diet plan, why not try my online coaching?

All of us at some point will get stuck in a rut. That feeling we’re unhappy with how things are, hoping for change but unsure what to do. Joining me to discuss this topic is recently-married lifestyle coach Lee Hogarth. We live in a fast-paced world where info and results are just a few clicks away. With this comes instant gratification – the need for immediate reward with no long-term prospects. And when it comes to fitness, many people are looking for shortcuts to better health and better physiques. The problem is that quick fixes don’t last and don’t benefit us in the long run. Real results come when we overhaul our fitness plan and nutrition, and, crucially, change our mindset. Discussing this topic with me is Competition Prep Coach and Fitness Show Presenter, James Alexander-Ellis. Can a sedentary office worker really achieve a good fitness level? Join us to find out.

Callisthenics has steadily been growing in the last few years to become a popular form of strength training. It relies of an individual’s bodyweight (for resistance) to hone and develop their own physique. Movements such as pull-ups, front levers, planks and handstands all fall under the callisthenics category. Without the usual machines, dumbbells and equipment found in gyms, many people may be wary as to how effective calisthenics can be. Here to dismiss any doubts and talk me through the countless benefits is Fitness Coach and Bodyweight Enthusiast, Alex Ash. Alex advises how we can begin our callisthenics journey and incorporate this into our fitness routine. In this episode I’m joined by an earlier guest from this series – monk and meditation teacher Arjuna Ishaya. Arjuna chats with me about how we can waste less time on the superficial, and how we can refocus on what truly makes us more content. There’s no denying we live in a visual world. Whether it’s taking selfies, social media or the focus on our appearance, we’re always looking at what ourselves – and others – look like. And there’s the contrast we make between our own lives and those we see as more successful. The clothes we wear, the money we make, the places we go to, the people we’re seen with … it’s easy to compare and always be wanting ‘more’. That’s why it pays to regularly check in with yourself and practise self-care. Speaking to me about how to do that is online Fitness Coach and Pro Fitness Model, Alice Blackledge. Alice talks of her change of careers from flight attendant to fitness coach and model and how she was able to become confident on stage and in front of the camera.
Join us for an insightful chat about self-acceptance and why comparison is the thief of joy.

There’s lots of different diets for people wanting to get leaner; one of the most popular from the past few years is intermittent fasting. This is where you have a time window where you eat during the day, followed by a period where you eat nothing. It’s basically a form of fasting – all your meals/calories/nutrition needs have to be consumed during your eating window. As with any type of diet, there’s benefits and drawbacks to intermittent fasting. In this episode I’m joined by fitness coach and close friend, Ross Cooper, to discuss whether this diet is effective for fat loss and general health, or whether it’s one to avoid. Always remember to consult with a GP before switching your diet. Join us for this podcast about a diet style that shows no sign of slowing down.
Following on from part 1 of my chat with Neil Martin, released last week on 28/06/21. In this second half, Neil discusses his upcoming third book, live speaking events following the pandemic and the advice he offers everyone on big lifestyle changes.

Neil joins me to discuss his experience of the 75 Hard challenge, which is the ‘mental toughness’ programme set up by entrepreneur Andy Frisella. Neil has lost 22 lbs from the challenge, and in this podcast (part 2 will follow next week) he discusses how the challenge tested his mental and physical strength. Join us for an inspirational chat about the challenge that’s set social media ablaze.
For many people starting their fitness journey, the world of exercise, gyms and nutrition is a scary prospect. 'Where to begin?' is the most common question, with an avalanche of classes, videos and workouts all vying for our attention. But all of us start somewhere, and in this episode I'm joined by fitness trainer Emma Goodman-Horne, who this year won Fit&Well's Trainer of the Year award. Emma and I discuss the ways that gym/fitness beginners can feel comfortable and find their groove when starting to work out. The great thing about fitness is there really is an activity to suit everyone and exercise can become a great part of your lifestyle. Join us in this podcast episode for tips on beginning your fitness journey.

2.8 - Chat about Flexible Dieting with Martina Hnatysyn
Can focusing on macronutrient intake, instead of certain food, be the key to dieting success? Flexible dieting doesn’t restrict food like standard diets – things like ice cream, pizza and cheese and can still be enjoyed. Instead the emphasis is placed on tracking your protein, fat and carbohydrate intake to change your body shape. As long as your food choices fall within your macros, then flexible dieting says you can still lose weight. In this podcast, I’m joined by fitness guru Martina Hnatysyn to discuss what we think about flexible dieting and which diets we’ve attempted in the past. Is this the modern way to a leaner body?

In this episode, South Tyneside's Tara Johnson talks about increasing awareness about the lack of accessible leisure activities. After a turbulent and unprecedented year, Tara has been motivated to embark on one of her biggest challenges yet – to stand for the first time in over 20 years. Tara is the founder and owner of social enterprise Tailored Leisure Company (TLC), and she's pledged to stand from her wheelchair for 21 hours over 5 days: a sight neither of her children have seen. We discussed elements from The Social Dilemma Netflix documentary, besides our views on how social media can affect mental health. What’s your view on technology? Do you think it’s a good thing to have in the modern world? Or do things need to change?
Food Cravings Vs. How to Overcome Them It’s often the case the foods we’d like to eat more of – ice cream, chocolate, pizza, etc. – are the foods which are unhealthy and play havoc with our diets. While these are fine in moderation, eating high calorie, low-nutrition foods on a regular basis leads to weight gain and prevents us from reaching our fitness goals. In this video I’m joined by my friend and fellow fitness professional Tim Chase, where we discuss our own food vices, and the ways all of us can overcome our cravings for foods which are bad for us. Which foods do you often have cravings for? Do you have any tips on overcoming your cravings?

We all have had experiences that would have impacted the way we perceive life, relationships, or ourselves. And those experiences live in the subconscious and repeat themselves over and over again until you have the capacity to fully release and process that experience.
This episode is created with that in mind, when you hold grudges, you hold onto anger and frustration which keeps you in the fear frequency and affect all aspects of you life as well as how you make decisions, the actions and the inactions that you make.
Moving from the fear frequency to the love frequency is paramount to being in the right vibrational frequency for manifestation! That's where you find inner peace, enlightenment, joy and fulfilment. And when you begin to embody those emotions, that's where the magic happens.
You've experienced those events for a reason, and this episode will guide you as you see the benefits of forgives and exactly how to move into forgiveness.
I've created this FREE forgiveness meditation to help you get started on your healing journey. it features the powerful Ho'oponopono prayer, which is an ancient Hawaiian forgiveness prayer. This prayer has transformed my inner peace and wanted to pass it forwards onto you.

What a curve ball this past few months have been!
If you're used to seeing a lot of people all of the time - Nope that's out the window, and if you live with someone and you're used to spending a balance of time apart and time together, nope that's also not an option, naturally.
Our worlds have been turned upside down but no need to fret! We've got you!
Regardless of how you have been maintaining your relationships, this has changed, so we've broken it down to a few key factors to keep in mind as we navigate through lockdown.
• Understanding how to communicate & connect with others
• Dedicate time for self care if you or your partner years for their own space - do something apart
• Do something together, whether it is a hobby or goal
• Understanding each others love languages

Lockdown news has shook me (Rita) to my very core as I am sure it has affected so many others of you, as a result I felt called to share my experience and share with you my coping strategies incase it helps another person.
Defining reframing as a conscious decision to see a situation in a different light, changing the perception of how they see the event or situation. Often those new perspectives are more positive, more motivating, and help you cope with uncertainty. Another way to think about Reframing is as reinterpreting a difficult or stressful event by working to see it in a different way.
Coping Strategies:
1 - Cognitive reappraisal involves changing the way you think about an emotional stimulus in order to change its emotional impact on you.
2 - Positive reappraisal involves identifying positive meaning in what are in fact negative stressors, by focusing on the ‘good’ that is happening or that has happened.
3 - Cognitive restructuring involves identifying negative interpretations of an event that are unrealistic and replacing them with more realistic interpretations.
4 - Coping statements are short self-talk statements that encourage persisting with or reassessing a situation in a more positive light.
5 - Acceptance-based thinking involves becoming aware of and accepting of how one feels, without trying to change those emotions.
We also share some questions that you may want to ask yourself (as recommended in the article by Tim Jackson PhD.)
How can I accept things I can’t control?
How can I adapt to this?
If I were to engage in ‘radical acceptance’ of this situation/my reaction, what would that look like and how would it feel?
How can I create realistic expectations for myself and others?

Through asking each other how we intend on having the best year yet, we’ve come up with 5 steps in which you can apply to your goals, whether they are specific to each of your life aspects or your overall huge vision for your year!
Reflection on 2020, and asking what area of your life did you set out to improve, yet find yourself in the same position?
Set your goals and intentions for 2021 is a HUGE part of success, we've covered this topics in so much more depth, take a listen if you haven't already https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/power-of-progress/id1523704565?i=1000503668520
Thinking about the person that you need to become in order to a achieve your intentions, and stepping into that person, as you think about what attributes and characteristics does the person that achieves that goal have?
Another way is to think about who your inspiration is in a sense of looking at who possesses your aspirational life style and think about what they must do on a day to day basis to achieve the level of success they've reached and imitating some of their positive attributes as a part of your practice
Set your new habits, building on what you already have done in 2020
Detachment from outcome is one trap that I see so many fall into when working towards a goal, so it was a must to include as a part of this episode!

Research has shown that most people give up on their New Year's Resolution within the first 14 days! Don't be like most people... here's how you can have the best year yet!
In this episode, we explore the top 3 reasons why New Years resolution fail and give you the tools to succeed in the form of 3 simple steps.
When it comes to your goals and intentions, your will power will only take you so far IF your WHY isn't strong enough to keep you motivated. So when you're looking to achieve a new goal, you must first look at your motivation for achieving it, and ask yourself: What will I be able to do when I achieve the goal?
For more on Will Power vs. Why Power, you can listen to this episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-11-will-power-vs-why-power/id1523704565?i=1000492769834
Setting intention is the first and most important (in my opinion) law of the universe. Without knowing what you are heading and what you'd like to achieve, you're likely to be aimlessly 'going with the flow' and not actually manage to achieve anything. Years may go by and you will notice that you're frustrated, overwhelmed and unsure of your path or purpose.
Every pilot must have a destination and planned out path before getting into his airplane!
Passion & purpose is a big part of success, every single person has a purpose of what they are here to do and how they can help forward humanity, and make an impact in the world, and your job is to find what that is.
It's time to be super intentional with your goals and have the best year yet!
Your homework is to journal on the following questions:
What do you want?
What are 10 actionable steps you can do to reach that?
Where can you make space for your goals to happen?
We would love to invite you to join our Facebook community where we deliver regular live trainings, additional value and it’s also where we can interact with you and support you on a more personalised level: https://www.facebook.com/groups/powerofprogress -- See you on the inside!
In this episode, we're exploring the answers to 5 questions that encourage us to look back and reflect over the past year. We'd love to encourage you to listen, note down the questions and answer them for yourself.
At the beginning of 2020, no one would have been able to predict just how much all of our lives would be turned upside down, and just how much we would be able to adapt and thrive in the midst of chaos. Whether you have managed to pivot, keep moving forward, hit new goals that you had put on pause for so long, or if you've managed to go inwards and grow spiritually and kept yourself in a high vibe state despite of the fear based frequencies, or whether you have managed to just stay alive to see the end of this year.
You've made it!
The way I see 2020, is that it's been a gift... a much needed time to turn our attention to the aspects of our lives that had been put on auto pilot for years as a result of being plugged into the matrix. It's given us the gift of the time we needed to reflect and pivot into a more purposeful path. It's been a year that will be remembered for decades to come as the year we learned the meaning of gratitude, and just how much we take a lot of things and people in our lives for granted.
The year 2020 has been a warm up for a lot of us, and we're so excited to be here, serving you with you a dash of weekly value.

From the conversations we've had, we've realised that most people either feel restriction and guilt around what they eat and drink over the Christmas period, or go the other way and fully give up their routine which leads to them taking longer and struggling to get back to their normal self, whether that physically, mentally or just in a more practical routine that works best for their lifestyle.
When it comes to the mindset around food and drink during Christmas time, balance is key to having a great time keeping in mind that you have the knowledge and experience of how to get back to your norm, whatever that may be to you.
The tips shared in this podcast will give you the guidance you need over this festive period. And you might not even have to take notes down, just by listening to it, your subconscious will retain the information and you will move into this time of year with more clarity on how to be more mindful of your thoughts as well as others around you.

Most people associate abundance with money or material goods. One can be abundant in money and material goods - that´s one aspect of it, but what about having an abundance of love, joy, freedom, peace, courage, passion, creativity, knowledge and health? Isn´t that the real wealth and prosperity? Your life may already be much more abundant than you realise, you may be focusing on one thing that you don't have, when all you have to do is lift your head up, open your eyes and really look around, see what's around you and you'll realise just how much beauty is already around you. It depends on whether you focus on what you do have, or on what you don´t have.
What if I told you that from moment to moment, you have the choice to decide who you are and who you become?
We discuss the difference between a scarcity mindset and an abundant mindset, and how you can move to the abundance mindset with the 3 steps provided for you in this episode.

As we record this, we're approaching the time of year where the clocks go back, meaning we get an extra hour in bed! But the downside is that lots of people struggle to stay motivated with the cold weather and darker evenings.
Here are 4 tips to keep you healthy, positive and motivated:
1- Healthy comfort food: opt for slow cooked meals, lean meats and healthy vegetables, as well as using bone broth for your stock. Strengthen your body’s defences by keeping your gut healthy. Consume foods that have natural probiotics (like yoghurt, kefir, miso soup, cultured vegetables, and sauerkraut), or take a high quality supplement.
2- Keep physically active during the winter to bolster mental health and physical immunity. Shift some activities to indoor ones like Pilates/stretch classes and keep up regular exercise.
3- Supplements: take a multivitamin and add cod liver oil supplements for the winter. These have the added benefit of vitamin A and D (great for months when our access to vitamin D-producing sunshine is limited).
4 -Prioritise-sleep and follow the sun’s lead. As the days get shorter, shift your sleep routine towards going to bed earlier and allow your body more hours to rest and repair.

First and foremost I'd like to say that if you're here, you're already looking for the right answers.. and looking to educate yourself how to best manuever through this strange time and that is the first and most important step to coming out of this in the best shape possible if not even stronger than you were before in all aspects of life physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and financially
6 Main Steps:
We've talked about anchors before, so anchors are the constant in your life, for me, it's my home, my dog, it's the gym which I'm grateful that they're still operating at the moment
The idea is to look for what IS certain in your life, and doing that to getting a sense of peace and feeling grounded and safe
A bullet proof morning and evening rituals
During this uncertain times, other than other responsibilities, if you were to keep those in place consistently, you’ll be feeling in a good enough mental state so that you’re ready to take on whatever the day presents
This first step aligns with your gratitude ritual too, by going back to the anchors. By asking yourself what is certain in my life, your brain starts to look for the positive. And that's what we want, cause whatever we focus on grows. So focus on the good and more good will come
One problem and solution at a time
You can journal your current feelings/issue or problem
Make sure you Ask yourself how can I work this out instead of focusing on how frustrated you are that this is happening, when you ask, how can I work this out, your brain starts to look for ways to work it out.
Take the pressure off whenever you feel uneasy
Just take time out of the 'I have to get this done'
Listen to your body if you're hungry eat, if you're tired rest... And so on.
Limit your intake of news and any other negative sources that instil fear and fill your day with uplifting music, podcasts, audiobooks.. p
Think short term / Look at fulfilling immediate needs and addressing immediate concerns (for now)
If you take just ONE thing from today I'd like it for it to be is to live in the moment

Your current circumstances and relationships are a direct indication to your self worth.
And your self value is portrayed through the way you carry yourself, and how you show up into the world.
Which is mirrored back in your current circumstances, and the people/situations you attract into your life.
In this episode, we share 5 simple ways to increase your self value.
Defining your worth from outside sources is a subconscious way of comparing yourself to specific standards set by others. Comparison is a foolproof way of ignoring the awesome things you have done or can do. When you compare yourself to others, you’re measuring your worth by their terms. But what about your own?
“Your own terms are the only ones that matter,” says Mackenzie Gelina, academic adviser at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. “Every person has walked a different path to get where they are today,” she adds. This can be difficult when social media sites provide a constant reminder of the achievements of others. Not surprisingly, a study by the Public Library of Science found that increased Facebook use undermines subjective well-being. The more individuals saw the achievements of their peers, the less satisfied they were with their own lives. Sound familiar?
Instead of measuring your worth based on another person’s scale, concentrate on what is meaningful to you, whether that’s being balanced, being a kind person, or living a faith tradition. “Make your own standards,” Gelina says. “They will matter to you longer than those of anyone else.”We would absolutely love to invite you to join our Facebook community where we deliver regular live trainings, additional guiding wise words and it’s also where we can interact with you and support you on a more personalised level: https://www.facebook.com/groups/powerofprogress

Episode 9- Importance of having a daily body stretch ritual
10 Benefits
Decreases muscle stiffness and increases range of motion. Stretching helps improve your range of motion, which may also slow the degeneration of your joints.
May reduce your risk of injury. A flexible muscle is less likely to become injured if you have to make a sudden move. By increasing the range of motion in a particular joint through stretching, you can decrease the resistance on your body’s muscles during various activities.
Helps relieve post-exercise aches and pains. After a hard workout, stretching your muscles helps keep them loose and lessens the shortening and tightening effect that can lead to post-workout aches and pains.
Improves posture. Stretching the muscles of the lower back, shoulders and chest helps keep your back in better alignment and improves your posture.
Helps reduce or manage stress. Well-stretched muscles hold less tension and, therefore, can help you feel less stressed.
Reduces muscular tension and enhances muscular relaxation. Chronically tense muscles tend to cut off their own circulation, resulting in a lack of oxygen and essential nutrients. Stretching allows your muscles to relax.
Improves mechanical efficiency and overall functional performance. Because a flexible joint requires less energy to move through a wider range of motion, a flexible body improves overall performance by creating more energy-efficient movements.
Prepares the body for the stress of exercise. Educated stretches or a mobility routine prior to exercise allows your muscles to loosen up and become better able to withstand the impact of the activity you choose to do.
Promotes circulation. Stretching increases blood supply to your muscles and joints, which allows for greater nutrient transportation and improves the circulation of blood through your entire body.
Decreases the risk of low-back pain. Flexibility in the hamstrings, hip flexors and muscles attached to the pelvis relieves stress on the lumbar spine, which in turn reduces your risk of low-back pain.

You've defined your dream life! Amazing.. But when you look back 5 - 10 years ago, the way that you're working towards that dream life has changed a few times already... We're here to tell you; that's okay!
If you're working towards a vision, it doesn't matter how you get there, what path you take, as long as you continue to work towards your vision or goal.

In this episode, Nathan & Rita share stories relevant to this and open the door for you to see that success can be achieved in so many different ways and in fact it requires for you to experience your journey to the fullest to become who you need to become to achieve your dream life.
