I had the extreme pleasure of playing the Amp stage at Shambhala this year, Thursday 4:15 - 5:30pm. It was, without a doubt, one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had in my life. It was easily the biggest crowd I’ve played for, but far more importantly, y’all were so freakin hype. Vibes were A+++, we were all hungry for that bass, and extra hungry for that ever so special Shambhala magic. The energy was unreal. Well ... this is something a little different from my usual sound. If you aren't familiar, @jreinhold 's Wintry Mix series is the stuff of legends amongst the extended @party-liberation-front fam back in VA. These mixes are deep, soulful, beautiful, introspective, and have really helped me process a lot of difficult feelings throughout my life. This year we finally realized our dream of doing it live, not just as a batch of mixes. This was originally streamed from a cabin in the snow covered mountains of West Virginia, but I rerecorded a shorter version for the final mix.
2021 (and the beginning of 2022) was one of the most difficult, best, and also weirdest years of my life, and I'm gonna guess that I'm not alone in that. I've had some of my highest highs, and most definitely my lowest lows over the past couple years. I'm happy to say that the good really does come in waves, and right this moment I'm the best I've been in quite some time. But there's been some pretty rough patches, and I know there will be more.
So yeah ... I guess this mix is my way of processing all of that. I hope it can help you to do the same, or at least just be something nice and chill to listen to 🙏❤️

Sliding into 2022 like ... 😬
Whew ... 2021 has been a pretty rough year. My life has changed pretty drastically. I've hit some of my lowest lows, and felt a sort of loneliness I've never quite experienced before. Yet somehow, 2021 has been my best and productive year as a musician. I've released 11 tunes, with more on the way, and many more in the works. I feel like I've really found my sound, and I continue to learn and experiment with new techniques.
So this is my celebration of what has been simultaneously the most difficult and best year of my life. This is every track I've either released or written in 2021. Lets do it up big in 2022 😺

Ok so fun fact. I started this tune from a recording I took of my brother making simple syrup. He was mixing it in a mason jar like a shake weight. I thought it was so ridiculous, I had to get a sample 😹 But yeah, I chopped up the recording and used it as percussion, and built the song up around that rhythm. Field recording for liiiiiiiife
