What is Rain Poetry? Well…PA Humanities engaged children from two Pittsburgh neighborhoods in a hands-on community poetry activity facilitated by teaching artists. Haiku are being installed in public spaces with a special rain-activated solution. All it takes is a splash of water for the poems to sprout up all around as if by magic.

Tressa has the delight of sitting down for a chat - and a lot of laughter - with Pittsburgh legends Larry Richert and Jim Krenn. They talk community, role models, doing good, yinzers, movies, Bruno Sammartino and more...
Larry and Jim, along with Dan Marino (yes, that Dan Marino), Doug Mariani, and Dick Roberts, are the owners of a new food truck in the 'burgh: Yinzer Dogs. But they're not just serving up hot dogs--they've got some amazing sammiches, bit-sized pierogies, and more...AND a portion of all of their proceeds go to local charities.
Larry Richert is the "The Voice of Pittsburgh". He has hosted the KDKA Radio Morning News since 2001, is the voice of NFL Films/Steelers Highlights, the Public Address announcer at Acrisure Stadium for the Steelers, and he's part of the Pitt Panthers Football network broadcast team. Larry has long been an ambassador for the city of Pittsburgh and was winner of the Vector’s Richard Caliguiri Award for that reason.
Jimmy Krenn rose from the ranks of stand-up comedians to become Pittsburgh’s premier comedian and broadcast personality, known for his 24-year run as host of the city’s top-rated morning show on 102.5 WDVE FM and for hosting his very own morning radio show on Q92.9FM.
He has been voted the Top Entertainer in the City by Pittsburgh Magazine 14 times and was nominated by BILLBOARD Magazine as one of the Major Market Personalities of the Year. He makes frequent television appearances, does several standing-room-only concert performances yearly and has performed with the likes of Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Dennis Miller, and Jerry Seinfeld.

Critically acclaimed as one of the finest choruses in the country, MCP is the “voice of the greater Pittsburgh region”. Unlike other professional arts organizations, MCP is comprised of mostly amateur singers with professional-caliber talent, whose day jobs vary from postal clerk to physician to casino card dealer. MCP singers give generously of their talent, passion, and commitment to share the magic of live music with the widest possible audience. Tressa discusses all of this and SO much more - including how MCP is partnering with local nonprofits - in a delightful and insightful chat with MCP's new Music Director, Daniel Singer.

This episode is close to Tressa's heart (pun intended)...In this episode, you'll hear the stories of 2 cardiac arrest survivors who were saved by strangers who performed CPR on them. In both instances, these strangers worked together - as a team - to literally bring these folks back to life. Tressa had the honor and the joy of spending time with the survivors and some of those strangers at the 5K event in Kittanning, “Run For Your Life”.Vicki Williams' Story:https://www.wtae.com/article/butler-county-woman-revived-cardiac-arrest-aed/42832185Greg Woodman's Story:https://www.insideedition.com/65-year-old-who-suffered-a-massive-heart-attack-during-a-half-marathon-saved-by-fellow-runnersYinz Are Good LIVE Christmas Episode Monday, Dec. 11th | 7:00pmTrust Arts Education Center | 805 Liberty Ave. | 15222https://www.eventbrite.com/e/yinz-are-good-live-christmas-podcast-tickets-756249952967?aff=oddtdtcreatorhttps://www.yinzaregood.com/Instagram: @yinzaregoodFacebook: @YinzAreGoodHave a story of GENEROSITY or KINDNESS to share with us? What better book to talk about on this show than one called Growing Up Yinzer: Memories from Beloved Pittsburghers? Tressa sits down for a fun and fabulous chat with author Dick Roberts, illustrator Rob Rogers, and comedian/actor/Pittsburgh personality Jim Krenn, who is one of the yinzers featured in the book.
About the book: Pittsburgh's undeniable impact on the character and life of those who grew up there has shaped iconic figures of American sports, entertainment and culture. Legends of the gridiron such as Jim Kelly, Tony Dorsett, Dan Marino and Joe Namath forged their football prowess in Western Pennsylvania. Business pioneers including Mark Cuban, Ray Werner and Bill Strickland were ingrained with the value of hard work in the Steel City. Music and movie stars like Jeff Goldblum, George Benson and Billy Gardell found creative inspiration in Pittsburgh that led to new heights. Author Dick Roberts presents profiles, interviews and memories from some of the most famous and adored Pittsburghers.

Tressa sits down for a powerful conversation with singer-songwriter and clergyman Gary Germany, who experienced domestic violence situations as a child and struggled with impulses to hurt others when he became an adult. It was only after Gary made the decision to look deep into his past to understand his behaviors and take responsibility for them that he began to change his life.
