Our Story:

Acorn Hills Clothing Company was created by a college sophomore who loved both the outdoors and looking good.  The company, although very small at first, set out to provide premium clothing products. Although similar to other big brands, we provided these products for a fraction of the price. However clothing is only a small part of what we stand for .  Along with this,  Acorn Hills focuses on giving back to its community by taking the initiative to help revitalize forests and areas of land that fill this great place we call earth. With a percentage of our sales donated to charities and organizations such as the National Forest Foundation and others that align with these goals.  By providing things such as biodegradable packaging, and plantable clothing tags, we pay homage to our acorn logo by practicing what we preach.  By also planting acorns every year to help replenish trees in nature, we continue to make a positive change for the outdoors, no matter how small.  People have asked, "why choose clothing?"  It's simple really,  when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good...you DO GOOD!  We just help you get there.

Wanting to help players and families navigate the road from junior golf all the way to the elite levels of professional golf, we want to prepare the entire person and player for the next level.  With thousands of contacts in the fields of coaching, the business of golf, and instruction, we have access to every available resource that an aspiring golfer will need.

When it comes to finding the right mix of academics and athletics, locating the perfect instructor, or creating a tournament game plan, we believe that consistency and dependability are the keys to success in all areas.  Whether it is a practice plan, keeping statistics, a consistent fitness routine, or goal setting, staying on track with a view of what is next is vital.

I created Under Par Consulting after a coaching career that gave me more life rewarding experiences and relationships then I could ever hope for.  What I missed was time with my wife and growing daughter.  After realizing that being home to see volleyball games and helping with homework was rewarding, I decided to create UPC as a way to continue my passion of helping players and families.

David Wall, a Blackshear native, took a liking to golf early in his life. He started playing the game at the age of 10 and dominated the sport while in high school and college. He was low medalist for the 1979 Blackshear High School state championship golf team and went on to earn a scholarship at both South Georgia College in Douglas and Augusta College. Following college, Wall went on to qualify for the US Amateur and turned pro in 1985. He played the Florida Mini -Tour for four years, winning 25 events and joined the Hooters Tour in 1990 where he won the Brick Landing Open in Wilmington, NC in 1991 and the Collins Pro Classic in Louisville, KY in 1996. During his time on the Hooters Tour, Wall made 35 cuts in a row. He left the tour after being diagnosed with the disease that slowly robbed him of his muscle control and eventually took his life. David loved God, his family, his friends (many of them junior golfers).  David's family acts as tournament host including his parents, Mr & Mrs. William Wall, his brother, Mr. Bill Wall, his sister Mrs. Debbie Gilleon, and his wife Dawn, and sons, DJ, Logan, & Kirby.

The parent/athlete relationship is complex, rewarding, terrifying and satisfying - all at the same time. Watching our kids compete can create amazing bonds, or it can risk damaging family relationships altogether. That line can be thin and a slippery slope if the journey is approached with mismatched goals, unrealistic expectations, and a mom or dad who ‘wants it’ more than the player does.  This book is a look at that dynamic in great detail through the lens of junior golf and our journey as a family. This is not a resource to teach you how to raise the most successful golfer - more so, it is about taking our advice as you start your journey so that you can avoid many of the mistakes that we made as parents and as a family. Golf is an amazing game that will teach us so much about life, adversity, overcoming, failing and succeeding, hurting and healing, winning and losing with grace – and we are all better off if we let it happen organically and enjoy the moments along the way.

We started the Junior Golf Scoreboard in May of 1998 right after my son finished his junior career and was headed off to college. It literally began in a storage room that we sublet from a company. With our one phone we called every tournament we could find and began building a database of events for people to find on our website.

As a former junior golf Dad I knew that parents were struggling to learn more about the sport and how to enter tournaments. College coaches had no way to follow the sport nationally and there was very little information about playing the sport or how college recruiting worked. So we began building the Scoreboard with content that we hope would be useful.

My passions include family time with Porter, Christopher and Alison, working as an adult volunteer in youth Ministry, playing golf, and working on issues surrounding conservation and the challenges of climate change.

Meet Alan Johnson, African American Amateur Champion Golfer and Inventor of NeuraPutt Aim and Pace Trainer. Alan’s journey from 8-year-old junior golfer to having Golf Digest proclaim his invention, NeuraPutt, as “the epitome of target practice” has been an uphill battle. The passion and talent for the game of golf runs in Alan’s family, his Grandfather, PGA Teaching Pro Sie Willis Jr., taught and mentored Alan on the public golf courses of Detroit, Michigan. Inevitably, Alan hit all the checkmarks of a golfing prodigy from junior golf all through high school which led to being offered multiple golf scholarships to university's local and abroad.

After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Alan was able to intern with Golfweek Magazine and the PGA Tour. It was when his grandfather tragically passed away from a heart attack while pulling into his home course parking lot, Alan lost all motivation for the game of golf.

After some time away from the game, Alan completed an apprenticeship to become a Millwright Engineer for the nation’s leading car manufacturer. But golf had never really left Alan’s blood, mind or heart.

In 2005, the Big 3 Auto Companies were going bankrupt and resorted to offering early retirement packages. Alan jumped on this opportunity to go back to school and quite naturally, join a golf team.

Over the next 4 years he sharpened his teeth on collegiate golf and then upon graduation earned a Single Season Pro-Level Sponsorship to play on Florida's mini-tour scene. But victory was elusive for Alan, and he returned home to his career. He reinstated his Amateur Status and remained competitive. In no time, he began stacking wins, both locally and nationally. Most notably the Detroit Amateur Open (2016 and 2018) and capturing the First Flight spot on the 2021 US Amateur Golf Team. He's slated to play in the 0.0-4.9Hcp Division of the World Amateur Golf Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It's every golfer's eternal quest to improve the weakest link in their game and for Alan, that was putting. The necessity to become consistent from short range drove Alan to embark on a trial-and-error journey that would lead to the creation of the first aim and pace training aid. He managed to balance his new career, develop his golf game and not only patent the Neuraputt, but also bring it to the marketplace.

It was then at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show where NeuraPutt really created a buzz and captured the attention of many industry leaders - including Golf Digest.

Golf Digest, the industry titan, awarded NeuraPutt 3rd on the List of THE BEST NEW GOLF TRAINING AIDS OF 2020. It didn’t stop there, immediately following the success from the PGA Show Alan Johnson took Neuraputt to the Las Vegas casting call of ABC’s Shark Tank. Almost immediately he was called back by producers and invited to advance to the next round towards appearance on the show.

COVID19 derailed the momentum but positive consumer feedback for Neuraputt continues to pile up. Golfers around the world rave about the training aid and word is organically spreading to not just casual golfers but students, junior golfers and golf coaches. With hopes of eventually creating jobs, Alan has completed the long journey of being able to proudly move all production and manufacturing of NeuraPutt to the U.S.

DECADE in action is a simple process that does all the work for you. Millions of shots were analyzed to determine the optimal target for any shot. The result is an easy addition to your routine that actually takes less time than the typical process of selecting a target…if one is even selected! One of the main reasons golfers tend to peak later than athletes in other sports is due to the fact it takes a long time to learn proper strategy. Not any more! Don’t take a decade to learn proper strategy, learn the DECADE System in a day!
