Sometimes we might forget that Joshua - who is now the leader of the Israelites as they gear up to enter the Promised Land, is one of two men left from the previous generation who had been slaves in Egypt. The other man left, is Caleb.
Both Joshua & Caleb had been the only two spies out of the twelve Moses sent, who reported favourably about Israel's potential forty years ago. Their faith in God as young men had been bold and inspirational - more importantly, it still was the same forty years later, when they were in their golden years.
How about us today? Do we remember a time in our faith journey where we were brimming over for the Lord? Perhaps that was five... or fifty years ago. Our encouragement is - you can still start again with the Lord. Let's hear from Pastor John as he reminds us that today, the Lord is still beckoning us closer.

Have you ever thought to yourself, "God - why have You done this?" or perhaps "God, why haven't You done this?"

How is a covenant different from a promise?
For us - marriage is the easiest way to consider the severity of a covenant as compared to a promise. A marriage is for life and it affects every moment of the lives of the man & woman involved after they say their vows.
Doesn't that paint a beautiful picture of the covenant the Lord has with us? Let's hear from Pastor Peter on how we are to treasure the Lord's covenant, the same way He treasures us.

Do you enjoy assembling IKEA furniture? If you assemble a simple table and look at the instructions, it should take you only 15 minutes. But if you didn't look at the instructions or follow it - it could take you up to an hour.
Following God can sometimes feel like assembling IKEA furniture right? Following His Word can be easy & straightforward but sometimes... we just don't do it. Once again, we find more similarities between ourselves & the Israelites in the Bible. Let's hear from Pastor Meng Cham on how we can find following God easier!

You and I would both easily agree that our God is a faithful God. But how would we remember God's faithfulness? And why would we remember God's faithfulness? In the Biblical times, the Israelites would build altars with stones at the various locations they had experienced God's faithfulness - so that they would be immediately identifiable to the generations after that might pass by. We are starting on a sermon series on the book of Joshua! Joshua had very big shoes to fill. As the successor to one of Israel's greatest leaders, Moses - Joshua had to lead the Israelites, a group that had proven to be difficult to lead, into the Promised Land. The modern concept of adoration seems very prone to exaggeration - social media has painted very skewered pictures of what it means to adore your significant others, pets, or other things that seem important to us. What has been the most painful experience of your life? Perhaps it was a physical injury, a messy break-up, the loss of a loved one or a bad season with your mental health. Something we will always ask in such experiences are, "why do I have to experience this?"
Christmas is traditionally a time we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ & that is usually accompanied with much joy and hope. Yet, we see that darker Biblical reality surrounding Jesus' birth - as the jealous King Herod killed an entire generation of baby boys to prevent the future King of Jews from toppling him. Let's hear from Bro Eugene on how the Biblical understanding of pain has implications for us today.

God's mercy is a concept that is easy to receive but difficult to grasp. After all, who would willingly sacrifice themselves for others who do not deserve it?
Yet the Apostle Paul exhorted the Roman church that it was exactly God's mercy that formed the foundation of our faith. The only way we could respond to this mercy was to offer our lives totally to Him. Let's hear from Bro Joel Bay on how we can overcome the obstacles needed to offer our lives to God!

For believers of Jesus Christ, we know that the miracle of His death & resurrection form the foundations of our faith. And we must also remember that this miracle extends to us - not just because we are believers, but because as believers, we are also His sons & daughters.
As His sons & daughters, we get to partake of this same miracle - when we die, or when Jesus returns, whichever comes first, we too will be resurrected & have a new body. What could the new body be? God has given every believer spiritual gifts for the purposes of building the Kingdom - and like any other earthly possession, we must steward them well. In fact, we should steward it even more than any earthly possession!

One of the most fulfilling experiences when you're in the church community is to serve alongside the body of Christ. However - as we have seen in our 1 Corinthians series that competition was a worldly value that had infiltrated the church as well & we might be unconsciously comparing ourselves with our community.
Yet Paul writes to the Corinth church, reminding that the Holy Spirit gifted us individually with our gifts - not for comparison or competition, but to build each up for the glory of the Kingdom. And they are all equal. Let's hear from Pastor Wilson on how we can engage the Spirit to determine our gifts & serve the Body of Christ!

On the Global Competitiveness Report, Singapore has remained in the ranks of the top 5 consistently. Of course, this has very much allowed our country to remain prosperous & vibrant. Yet, this may mean that we become too competitive in our lives - because we're always striving to be the best.
Inevitably, this streak of competitiveness would have leaked into the church. And to no surprise, it also happened during Biblical times. Paul wrote to the Corinthian church that when they gathered, their focus must be on Christ & the salvation He has given us. Let's hear from Pastor Victor on how we are meant to complete each other in the family of Christ!

We often hear people publicly demanding their rights & entitlements to just about everything these days - and some of it may be so drastic to the point of being reported on the news. We would often find ourselves discussing such behaviour or at the very least, giving a "tsk" of disapproval.
Yet if we would pause for a moment to consider & reflect upon our own behaviour - we might also be expressing our frustration when others infringe upon our rights. And it is upsetting when others fail to treat us with dignity.
The Apostle Paul however, reminds us that for the sake of the Gospel - believers should be ready to lay down their rights. Let's hear from Pastor Meng Cham as he shares with us how we should respond when our rights are trampled upon.

At this year's National Day Rally, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the Government's decision to repeal Section 377A of the Penal Code - thereby legalising sex between 2 men. The Government will also be amending the definition of family as a marriage between a biological male and a biological female in the nation's Constitution.

One of our struggles could be how do we have a Biblical worldview & understanding of everything that is going on in the world today - wars, pandemics, tragedies & natural disasters as well as the circumstances & situations in our lives.
What does it mean to have & to live with a Biblical worldview then? Let's hear from our guest speaker, Pastor Edric Sng on what it will also take from us to live a life focused on Christ.
Ps Edric Sng is a father of five. He oversees the Next Generation Division of Children and Youth in Bethesda Bedok-Tampines Church (BBTC), as well as the Worship and Communications teams. Before going full-time in church, he built and ran digital newsrooms for national media, and was the editor of a scuba diving magazine. There’s a saying that goes - “Emotions are like toddlers in a car ride. You can’t put them in the driver seat and you can’t put them in the boot.”
And that’s the reality for us isn’t it? Some of us we allow our emotions to be in the driver seat to take us wherever it wants to and we end up feeling anxious, drained and uncertain about life and the future. We feel paralysed by our emotions because of certain things that were said or something that happened. While for others, the way we respond to different situations is we simply suppress and numb our emotions. We keep our emotions away in the boot so that we do not have to deal with it at all.
Perhaps we might struggle to categorise our emotions as good or bad. However, what if we were to look at our emotions as data instead of our directors - would we be in a much better position to understand why & how we're feeling a certain way? Our God too has many emotions, but He remains sovereign. Let's hear from Pastor John on how our emotions can help us to lead healthy lives for His glory!

Don't worry! A lot of us would actually be in the same boat of not living according to many of the above requirements for healthy living. Perhaps we need to pause & consider how living unhealthily might cause us to lose control over our lives. As believers - Paul encouraged us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice - & that consists of both our physical & spiritual beings! In the last 2 years, badminton has been all the rage in our beloved nation. We're usually highly familiar with the singles games of badminton but now, after we recently won the mixed doubles gold for it at the recent Commonwealth Games, we see the different dynamics needed to play a doubles games of badminton.

What is your most valued possession in life? Is it an expensive item you saved up for a long time to purchase? Or perhaps it is an item that is tinged with a lot of sentimental value?
What about your body? As Christians, we believe that our bodies have been bought at a high price - with the blood of Jesus Christ when He went up the Cross to give us this freedom. Yet, do we value our bodies? Do we value its cost?
Perhaps we have abused the freedom it comes with by indulging in vices excessively. Whilst our minds may go to common vices like smoking, drinking & pornography that are harmful to the body, we must also check our lives for the excessiveness of everyday things like sugar and even caffeine. Even in the long run, they are also not beneficial to our bodies.
How do we go about stewarding our bodies as the Lord's vessels then? Let's hear from Pastor Joey Asher on how, whether single or married, we can honour God with our bodies!

One of the things that leave us most divided in Singapore is our food preferences. Where the best chicken rice is, which bubble tea chain tastes the best, where to buy the most delicious durians - we could go on & on.
We are so accustomed to having our preferences that it may feel strange not to have them. But our desire to uphold our preferences may not always be for the best.
In 1 Corinthians, Paul is writing to the Corinthian church not to let their preferences for a particular teacher or method divide them & affect the building of the Lord's Kingdom. In our church context today, have we been doing the same? Have our preferences for a particular preacher or a leader affected how we view the rest? This week, we celebrate what God is doing in the nations through Grace Missions! We have a special panel session with Pastor Steve, the lead pastor in Grace Missions & one of our church planters from India, Rev Moses Murry to share with us praise reports & testimonies of God's mighty hand.
Rev Moses Murry is the Senior Pastor of Bethesda Assembly of God Church (BAGC), Dimapur, Nagaland. He is also currently the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in East India and the Asst. General Superintendent, Assemblies of God, India. Besides these responsibilities, he is also the Chairman of the Christian Forum in Dimapur.
His focus is on evangelism, church planting & raising the next generation of leaders in the Church. He is happily married to Pastor Esther & they have 3 wonderful children, Samuel, Joshua & Ruth.

Pastor Norman Ng is the senior pastor of 3:16 Church in Singapore. He also co founded two social movements that engages churches in Singapore on the matters of faith and sexuality. Before becoming a Pastor, he spent 10 years in the marketing industry. He is a mentor to marketplace leaders and creative professionals. Through his leadership, the church have challenged the status quo to shape culture through disruptive storytelling. The films have reached over 50 countries and 3 million people to date. He shared the same primary school, secondary school, Junior College and University with the girl of his dreams. Today they share the same bed and are happily married with 3 amazing kids.

In the last 2 years, everytime we have removed our masks from our face when we reach home, hasn't it often been accompanied with a great sigh of relief. There is a feeling of great freedom when the constraints are released!
If you were to think about it, we might have been wearing masks long before the pandemic arrived. Perhaps we have been placed in difficult situations & we feel a pressure to not be ourselves. Or perhaps we feel that we have to be a different version of ourselves in order to get something that we want. In Genesis 27, Jacob was goaded by his mother, Rebecca, to pretend to be his elder brother, Esau, so that he could get a birthright - that was not meant to be his.

Where would be the easiest place to meet your friends in Singapore?
Probably Orchard Road - because it is considered the central area of our sunny island, easily accessible by public transport with many amenities & eating places.
The concept of centrality & accessibility was also behind where the Lord placed the Tabernacle within the Israelites' camp. He placed the Tabernacle there so that every single one of the Israelites would have equal access to Him.
Today, we know that the Spirit is alive in us & everyone has access to it. Yet is it easier for us to meet with the Lord? Hear from Pastor John as he concludes our Exodus sermon series by reminding us that God is still waiting for us to meet with Him today.

This week, the Israelites are left fumbling as they recover from the golden calf episode. As always, Moses represents Israel as he pleads with the Lord to forgive them. The 10 Commandments are very familiar pieces of Scriptures that we know, yet we have to be honest & admit that it is hard to follow all ten of them. Even though Jesus' death fulfilled the Old Testament covenant, the 10 Commandments remain vital principles & choices that we must uphold in our lives today. One of the biggest comforts Covid-19 gave to us was work/study-from-home. The flexibility was unlike anything we could have imagine. However, for some of us, this convenience may have soon snowballed into work/study forever from home. There is no distinction between work/study and home.
As slaves in Egypt, the Israelites also had no work-life balance. They had to work 7 days a week for their wages. So when God installed the Ten Commandments, where one was to keep the Sabbath day holy & not work - it was foreign to them! They probably could not shake off the fears that they may not have enough if they stopped. Yet time & time again, God demonstrated His faithfulness as their Provider on the days of rest. In today's sermon, Pastor Wilson reminds us that God will demonstrate His faithfulness to us as we rest too!

Mt Sinai is a prominent place in the Bible that we read today & it is a significant place for the Israelites in their journey towards the Promised Land. Those of us familiar with the Israelites' journey out of Egypt will know that one of the highlights in their passage to the Promised Land was seeing Moses split the Red Sea. However, sometimes we forget that God had Moses split the Red Sea because the Egyptians were pursuing their ex-slaves. The Israelites were caught between a hard place... & a great body of water. Such an impossible situation could only be met by a God where all things are possible.

The red polo tee is now a ubiquitous sight in our sunny island. Without realising it, our safe-distancing ambassadors (SDA) have helped keep our nation safe as we fought against the pandemic for the last 2 years.
Before we started noticing the red polo tees moving around our lives- God was the OG SDA in our lives. In today's sermon, Pastor John reminds us that God has been guiding & protecting us- just as how He guided the Israelites by a pillar of cloud & fire. What is the equivalent of that pillar of cloud & fire for us today? How can we better recognise His presence then?

How is your family doing? With work & school from home, lockdowns that make us stay in very close proximity with our family members & loved ones- how are you all doing? Perhaps it has been a difficult time as tensions brew & we rub off each other. Hopefully it has been a time where we learn to be thankful for what we have- but undoubtedly, it has really been a testing season for all families together or separated.
Our parents will have failed us at some point in time- yet most of the times, we don't realise that it is difficult being a parent. This week, let's hear from Pastor Wilson as he shares with us how God, in asking the Israelites to consecrate their firstborns to Him as they prepared to leave Egypt, used that as a fulfilment of the promise He had made over them as His chosen people. We're back in Egypt - and what a dramatic... but heartbreaking return! After 10 deadly plagues, the Lord has slain the first born son of every Egyptian family. Pharaoh himself was not spared this tragedy & in the midst of this, he finally releases the Israelites.
How do you think the Israelites felt at that moment when they learnt of Pharaoh's announcement? Joy - that they were finally being released after 430 years of captivity? Shock - that their release came at the expense of such tragedy to the Egyptians? Unbelief that the Lord's promise to them had finally come through?
How would you feel when a long-awaited promised comes to past? Would you remember the difficult period of waiting that led to this moment of complete joy? Hear from Pastor Joey as he shares why we must hang on to the promises of God even in the most difficult season of waiting.

What an apt title this weekend as Singapore has been facing daily record-breaking number of Covid cases in the last 2 weeks. Just like how our government has been warning us that an endemic Singapore must not be fazed by an increase in the number of cases, God was also constantly warning Pharaoh & Egypt about His impending judgement.
Is God warning you about anything today? Even as we learn to cultivate a fear of the Lord, that should not translate into being afraid of Him. Even as the Lord remains God, He remains a lot of other things for us- hope, comforter, protector. The PPE has become one of the most fashionable pieces of clothing in the last 2 years. We have seen celebrities wear diamante versions of it as they move through the airport. We have also seen hilarious memes of people fashioning their own PPE out of everyday items. We have also read heartbreaking stories of healthcare workers feeling as though they were being suffocated within their PPE as they battled the pandemic day in & day out.
The PPE is meant to protect the wearer. What is our spiritual PPE? Hear from Pastor Joey as he shares how the Israelites had an invisible PPE over them as their Egyptian slave-masters were torn apart by the plagues- you & I have that too! Be blessed!

If you're familiar with the animated film, The Prince of Egypt (1997), you know that there is a critical sequence in the middle of the film that details the nine plagues that God brings upon Egypt. But did you know, most Biblical scholars estimate that it would have taken at least 1 entire year for the entire series of plagues to have occurred.
One entire year. Yet Pharaoh didn't budge even as he saw his land & people suffering. Hear from Pastor Wilson what the plagues actually represented to Egypt & how God would be relentless in displaying His glory & carrying out His plan.

Hey guys, we took a short break from uploads- BUT WE'RE BACK!
Let's be real- no judgement here, but last year, the Singapore Government distributed a lot of financial aid to the citizens, & to many of us- FREE MONEY! It was money that most of us didn't need but appreciated immensely. Businesses used this money to relieve their unexpected woes- rent, wages, maintenance. This money was a stimulus package for the country, to ensure that the nation would survive the initial impacts of the pandemic.
Previously, we heard how Pharaoh intensified his mistreatment of the Israelites after his initial rejection of Moses. It was only natural for the Israelites to lose hope as their lives became harder. Moses himself was disheartened. But the Lord told Moses to deliver His word of promise again to Pharaoh & to the Israelites, that He would deliver them. That was the stimulus the Israelites needed to hear in the midst of much despair & desperation. This week, Bro Gideon shares with us the exact same promise that God has for us today- that He would deliver us from the problems & difficulties we're facing. Be blessed!

Most of us would never experience slavery in our lifetimes. Even fewer of us would never have needed to make bricks without straws- like the Israelites.
However, we have definitely experienced a desperate & despairing situation in our lives. "It can't get any worse than this!" We might even have said. Unfortunately, it does & we barely have anything left in us to keep holding us.

Happy 56th Birthday Singapore! This weekend, we hear from Jason Wong- he loves Singapore & he hungers for the revival in our land. Yet, even as he launches OneforJesus, Jason also confesses that personal evangelism is hard, even for someone as experienced as himself. Here, he shares that what has pushed him forward in personal evangelism is the little spark that was ignited in his heart many years ago when he first met the Lord.
OneforJesus is an evangelistic movement to mobilise every Christian in every church to bring at least one pre-believer to Christ within a 10-year timeframe.
