Today we continued our focus on the power of community. We met the polarized Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 8. Divided over food, idols, and banquets, they reminded us that intense societal divisions that touch the church are nothing new.
Today we continued our conversation about who we are and where we are going. We took a specific look at Acts 2 and the meaning of being in the family, being active in the family, and inviting people into the family.
We celebrated baptisms today, and then turned our attention to who we are at Vintage and where God is taking us. We looked at Acts 2, our namesake, and what it means for us today!
Today Russell Marshall shared a vision for the Church through the lens of 1 Corinthians 12, exploring the theme of “Diversity in Unity.” He reflected on the unique strengths of different churches and how, together in unity, they reveal the fullness of Christ to our community.

Our students are returning from One Camp this week, and on Sunday we will get to hear stories of how God moved in each of their lives. It is an annual tradition and one that never disappoints. We believe God is uniquely stirring in this generation, and we want to receive from them everything God has for us!

Depression and Anxiety…do you know anyone, maybe yourself, who is facing one, if not both, of these on a weekly basis? I have invited two friends, Jesus-loving therapists, who will be talking about these issues, defining symptoms for us, and then talking about how we recognize and handle them in our marriages, parenting, and our relationship with Jesus.

Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, the day we remember and celebrate Jesus' victory over death. We will worship, celebrate baptism, and talk about the life of expectation available to us now in Jesus. The Triumphal Entry! On Sunday, we join with billions of believers all over the world as we look at Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the start of Holy Week. It is a day of excitement, hopes fulfilled, expectations being met…only for Jesus to let everyone down by not meeting any of their expectations!! We will tell the story, look at its meaning, and talk about our expectations of Jesus and what we need to learn from this story.
Join us as we look at Jesus before his triumphal entry, loving on people and intentionally stopping to bring healing to those in need. But what we will also see is Intentional asking from those in need. In both stories, there is much to be learned about how we can choose to live intentionally in 2024.

We’ve said for a couple of weeks now that being Intentional in our pursuit of Jesus requires effort and energy, and that knowing him the way we want doesn’t happen by chance or by accident. But what is the destination of our effort and energy? What does that mean, and what is God calling us to? On Sunday, we will talk about what it means to slow down and rest in Jesus!
One of the byproducts of living Intentionally is that it takes time to achieve our desired outcome. That time period requires waiting, and waiting is something most people struggle with!! On Sunday, we will talk about the biblical understanding of it, how it is talked about in scripture, and how we can apply it to our lives today.
This Sunday, we continue our Intentional series, focusing on the words of Jesus and Paul as they talk about the internal struggle we all face between our passions and our convictions. Our hope for Sunday is to be honest about our struggle, recognize God’s strength, and take steps towards a more intentional life in Jesus!!
As we step into our third week of fasting, it's a humbling reminder that we're not navigating this journey on our own strength. Fasting helps us acknowledge that God is the one in control. Simultaneously, taking intentional moments to rest is like a gentle prompt to hit the brakes, giving us the chance to savor the goodness in our lives. Together, these rhythms help shape our lives for the future God wants us to step into.
The second week of our 21 Day Intentional Fast begins on Sunday. This week, as we go into Mark 9 and Matthew 17, we will unravel God's power that is available to us through the marriage of prayer and fasting. We will examine two disputed verses in each chapter and determine what we can gain from them.

It is a story of sin infiltrating the early church, God's response, and the holy fear that spread among everyone who heard about it. It is an important but difficult message that each of us needs to wrestle with!
On Sunday, Jamar Brown-King joined us and he drew from Acts 4 to highlight the pillars of a thriving church community: giving without expecting in return, sharing our faith, and being selfless examples. What would it look like if we embrace these principles, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where people find belonging and hope?
On Sunday, Jeremy Morris will joined us as we delved deeper into our study of the early church in the book of Acts. We specifically explored Chapter 4, focusing on the account where Peter and John are summoned before the Sanhedrin. Faced with a choice between an easy or a difficult response, they chose the path of truth, a testament to their intimate connection with Jesus. These ordinary men demonstrated extraordinary actions and unwavering conviction due to their relationship with Jesus.
On Sunday we turned our attention to Acts 3. We focused on the first major miracle performed by the apostles post-baptism of the Holy Spirit, how it functioned as a sign pointing to Jesus, and discussed what it means for us today.
We turn our attention to Luke’s description of the church family in Acts 2:42-47. Steve talks about their specific expression of family, how it would have been received in the Greco-Roman world, and what it means for us today.
On Sunday we turned to the beginning of the church in Acts chapter 1, the expectations of Jesus for his followers, and the keys to spiritual breakthrough that set the tone for kingdom expansion in the early movement. Combined, they speak to the necessary heart posture that led to activation in the church both yesterday and today.

We take our next step in keeping Jesus First as we focus on the dangers of hurriedness and the gifts of silence and solitude. Our belief is simple…keeping Jesus first in life requires us slowing down, making space to hear and experience God, and embracing a lifestyle that keeps us on pace with with Him. It doesn’t happen by chance, but instead requires our honest life assessment and disciplined choice. We feel this is a prophetic message for every Christ follower and if embraced can change your life!

The advent of love. The call and reminder of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel reminds us that Emmanuel has come, and it is also a cry for Jesus to come to our aid every day.
This morning, we will dive into the last section of Titus chapter 3. Paul will be reminding us of who we were before Jesus saved us, the power behind God's love in pursuing us, and our call now to love “not yet Christians” in a way that will lead them to the good news.

He is challenging the church in Crete on how they invest in and do good in the world around them. Their actions will promote the gospel on a macro level in culture. Joy at its core fights back against many of the struggles we face in our culture today. We will be focusing on the definition of joy, it’s distinction from happiness, and take time to remember, re-center and reengage joy on a deep level in the advent season.
As we continue to meditate on Advent this morning, we will focus on the "Arrival of Faith." Advent is not only about looking backward, but looking forward to the second advent when Jesus returns. As we wait for that advent, we can only be sustained through faith in Jesus.
As we finish our "Seek First" series this morning, we will look at how God empowers us to seek His kingdom by giving us grace through the Holy Spirit. Grace is not given to us so we can prove something to God, but rather in order that we would be empowered to pursue God and His kingdom.

In our “Seek First” series, we have talked about many different aspects of the kingdom of God. This morning, we will go through the parable of the talents in Luke 19 and see what it means to be faithful stewards in a culture of compromise.

The “not yet” speaks to our disillusionment of God moving in a way that we would not expect: allowing suffering, all while preaching that God’s kingdom has come to earth in the person of Jesus. There are no “easy” answers in this message… just a journey into who God is, what He is committed to do, how He truly loves and how He has an eternal plan in mind.
Today, we will take the next step in our “Seek First” series as we define in a deeper way what the kingdom of God is, what it means, how it applies to our lives and what God is doing in it. It is a foundational time that will shape our theology of God, His work in the world, and our response to Him.
Today, we will be hearing from Kurt Miller and discussing how, although "the kingdom of God" is a common phrase in both the bible and the church, we must understand there is both a literal future aspect of the kingdom of God and an immediate present aspect. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the church has the ability to bear the fruit of the Spirit and see God change lives. This only happens when we seek first His kingdom and embrace the value system of His kingdom instead of the value systems of the world.
This morning, we will finish up our United series by focusing on chapters 3 and 4 of 1 Corinthians. Paul challenges the church regarding the sources of their division: ego and pride. In this discussion, we will look at our innate struggle with both, but spend ample time focusing on a gift from Jesus that fills us and empowers us towards unity!

Daniel Simmons, who has worked at the UGA Wesley Foundation for fourteen years, will join us this morning. Daniel is married to Katie and they have three beautiful daughters: Norah, Lily, and Molly. He is going to talk about how we all go through hard seasons. At times we may question where God is and what He’s doing in our life. For many of us, this has been the last eighteen months. But what if God viewed our difficult circumstances vastly different than we do? What would it look like for us to live from God’s perspective, even when life is hard?
Today we celebrate our dads who come in many forms…bio dads, stepdads, foster dads, adoptive dads, spiritual dads, etc... We will celebrate your lives, eat bacon and donuts, and look at the Father heart of God you carry, as seen in the heart of the prodigal father in Luke 15. Don’t miss it!
Steve will be taking a next step from last week's message about Mary of Bethany. In her scenario, Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and was commended for it, while Martha experienced anxiety and stress. Anxiety, we said last week, is always an invitation to the feet of Jesus. This week, we will focus on Paul’s words from Philippians 4:4-7 where Paul lays out a plan on how to engage Jesus in these difficult moments and how peace is something we can live in expectation of…in all things!

Kurt and his family have lived in the Middle East for ten years and serve in one of the hardest and darkest places. The Millers host a six-month internship for students and meet weekly for discipleship and prayer with believers who have a Muslim background.

This morning we will take our next step in our two week series “Alive: Living the Abundant Life in a Stressed Filled World” by looking at our nemeses: stress and anxiety. We will talk about what they are, what causes them, what the Bible says about them, and practical steps in how we can deal with them.
This morning, we start a two week series called, "Alive." This is God’s heart for us in His resurrection, to go from death to life in our everyday. However, life happens, and we allow stress and anxiety to seep in. Many times, we feel stuck or maybe even like we have lost ourselves. Our goal is to take a practical and spiritual step towards highlighting this tension and how to move towards health.

What would you say if I told you this season we find ourselves in should lead us to worship and celebration? What would you say if I told you it is a time to challenge yourself rather than cower in insecurity and fear? On Sunday we will look at Hebrews 12:1-7 as we take an honest look at a proper perspective of this season we find ourselves in!
As a follow-up to the two previous message on "The Wall", we focus on the "Result" of going through our walls.
This week we will take a next step in looking at "the wall" we discussed last Sunday. When we face these moments of hardship and difficulty that rattle our faith, there are steps we can take towards breakthrough if we live aware of what is going on in our lives. This Sunday we will talk about this awareness as well as a few of the practical steps we must take to make it through the wall.
We finish up our series called "All In" where we have been discussing the meaning of church, our role in it, and what it takes to succeed. This Sunday we will look at specific words God has been speaking over Vintage and how we can be a gathering of people at Vintage who go specifically after the things on His heart for our church.

We spent the past two weeks asking the question, "What is Jesus saying about your next year with him?" God is uniquely moving in each of us, and I invite you to continue asking this question as He leads you through this year! On Sunday I want us to shift to a new question I am convinced we need to be asking at Vintage, "God, where do you want me to partner with you in the life of the church in 2020?"
This week we will begin a 4 week series called "All In" where we will invite God to awaken in each of us His heart for the church, our role in it, and the places He is calling us to engage in active service. Last week we asked the question, "What is Jesus saying about your next year with Him?" because we believe God is always moving in our lives, and we want to take time to listen. We believe His moving in us and His pursuit of us is not something we earn; instead it is an act of grace. On Sunday we will dive head first into this idea of grace, what it means, how powerful it is, and what we can do to welcome it into our lives!
"It is time!" As we enter the new year, the new decade, this is our time as individuals to stop and make sure we are taking the steps, in the right direction, that are leading to the life God has for each of us. On Sunday we will look at the words of John in 1 John 2 and the life of Daniel as we focus on warnings to be aware of and action steps to take. Looking forward to this new decade with each of you!!

The third week of Advent is a turn towards the first coming of Jesus and the joy that is now available to us in Him. On Sunday we will focus on the meaning of joy, how we tap into it, and how we live in it for eternity.
"Blessed are the peacemakers!" In the greatest sermon ever preached, Jesus challenges His followers to be those who bring peace as a lifestyle in all they do. We can't bring peace, though, unless we have first received peace from the Prince of Peace. The second week of Advent focuses our attention on the peace that is available to each of us in Christ and points us towards the day when peace will reign and rule over every area of our lives.
On Sunday Steve will take 10 minutes to fill us in on where we are financially, as well as where we are with our property and where we need to be, focusing our attention on both as we move towards 2020. Sunday marks the beginning of Advent. The word "Advent" is derived from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming." For the church, Advent is a season of preparation as we live in the hope of Jesus' second coming! Join us Sunday as we look at this hope!
James called us to be a mature people, a people of action, and a people who are centered in God and not self. We are coming together this Sunday for an extended time of worship and to celebrate our small groups and how great it is to have grown in community together. Hope you can join us!
On Sunday we will take a unique look at the expression "Lord Almighty" and how James uses it to show God's power in the lives of His children and the judgment of those who deny Him.
We will also be celebrating Stand Sunday! Stand Sunday is a time where churches across our nation stand for kids in foster care and highlight ways to affect change.
On Sunday we will look at James speaking directly to businessmen with a lesson that is true for everyone... Decisions in life must be submitted to God's leadership. If they are not, then we are walking in disobedience! Wisdom is defined by how we make decisions, choosing to follow Jesus rather than "lead" Him.
This week James continues his conversation on marrying our actions to our words. He calls it wisdom! This Sunday we will look at the marks of a life lived with Godly wisdom compared to a life lived in worldly wisdom. We will also celebrate baptisms!
This week James returns to his primary conviction that true faith in Jesus leads a person to action, challenging people to recognize caring for people requires more than just words... It requires active sacrifice on our parts!
Sunday is a day to celebrate our Fathers who come in all different forms. For each of these men, their lives matter, and they have purpose. We want to take time on Sunday to remember and remind all of us what their purpose looks like!
When Jesus was gathered with His disciples in Jerusalem, He told them that it was better for them that He was going away (John 16). On Sunday, which is Pentecost Sunday, we will have an extended time of worship as we also seek to engage what is better for us.

This moment, when He arrives in Jerusalem and is greeted by cheering crowds laying palm branches before Him on the road, is known as the triumphal entry. The interesting thing about journeys is that they are all different, with different moments of highs and lows and different learning experiences along the way. One of the most famous journeys in all of scripture is the the story of God's people in the Exodus. For the foreseeable future, we will be speaking about "The Journey." The idea is simple... Each of us are on a journey, a path, that is leading us somewhere. Over the upcoming weeks, we will focus on different stories from scripture, the journeys God led them on, and what we can learn about our own spiritual journeys through their experiences. This week we will focus on Jeremiah 6 and the paths God creates for us that are good and restful!
On Sunday, we will celebrate our fourth week of Advent as we focus on God's love. We will look at what it is and what it isn't and how it ultimately shapes everything we know about the Christmas season!
As we draw closer to Christmas, our Advent journey leads us to week 3 and our focus on the joy found in Jesus. We are told in Luke 2:10 that the coming of Jesus was good news of great joy for ALL people. As Christ followers, we have received joy, but so many of us lose sight of it easily. This Sunday, we will look at what it means to fight for joy and express it with our lives!

Sunday marks the beginning of Advent for the Christian Church worldwide, focusing our attention on the first coming of Christ at Christmas and awakening our hope to His second coming! This Sunday, we will focus on the hope found in Christ by looking at Matthew 12:18-21. We will look at the hope we find as individuals, but we will end by looking at the hope the world finds in us as Jesus ministers through us!
On Sunday, we will slow down to talk about God's invitation to each of us to look outside of our boxes and recognize the ways He desires to move through us in the lives of others! We will look at this from the story of Jesus sending out the 72 in Luke 10 and in light of the stories of God's movement in the lives of the mission team from California in October.
On Sunday, we will look at Romans 8:14-16 as we continue our conversation about praying in the Spirit. Our hope is to build a right expectation of who God is as a perfect Father in relationship with his children. As we do this, our belief is that our prayer lives will expand to a level we've never experienced before.
This is the last week of Life Together, our small group study of Ephesians 4-6. We will look at Paul's call to the church to always be praying in the Spirit, focusing on what that means, how it applies to our lives, and how it is the perfect defense against the work of the enemy.
On Sunday, we will keep journeying through's Paul's message in Ephesians 6 regarding how we prepare ourselves for the spiritual battle we face every day. Our conversation will include answering questions like the following. What is the spiritual armor? How do we "put it on"? What is God's role in this battle versus our role? We are nearing the end of our fall study and look forward to having you there so we can end well!
On Sunday, we will explore Ephesians 6:10-12 and Paul's closure to his letter. In it, we will see Paul awakening his readers to a new world of opposition and the ongoing power found in the person of Jesus.
An Audience of One! As we dive into Ephesians 6:5-9, Paul leads slaves and masters into a new understanding of life. On Sunday, we will look into this and see how it can change how we live our lives every day!
Paul's challenge at the end of chapter 5 and moving into chapter 6 is to live our lives in our relationships so that unbelievers in our culture are drawn to Jesus. On Sunday, we will look specifically at the relationship between parents and children, focusing on how the gospel of Jesus changes how they are supposed to honor Jesus in their relationship with each other.
One of Paul's most outstanding expectations, named in Ephesians 5:1, is the call he gives to the church to "Be imitators of God!" On Sunday, we will discuss the idea of this challenge, what Paul meant, and what it will take for us to fulfill this seemingly unattainable expectation. Spoiler alert... Scripture never calls us to do something God will not empower us to fulfill!! We CAN be imitators of God!!
Sunday marks the beginning of week three of our small group journey through the second half of Ephesians. We will be focusing on Ephesians 4:17-32 and Paul's instructions for Christian living. We will consider his warning, his challenge, and the list he provides that helps define if we are taking daily steps towards Christlikeness!
On Sunday, we will take our next step in Ephesians 4 as we focus on spiritual maturity in the body of Christ, recognizing that living as spiritual infants is not an option and that growth is mandatory. We will also look at the purpose of relationships with others and how God uses those relationships to facilitate our growth!
I am excited for Sunday as we officially dive into the second half of Ephesians and launch our small groups! Specifically we will be looking at Ephesians 4:7-13, Paul's call to the church to do their part in equipping the body of Christ so the church can grow in unity as ONE body!
On Sunday, we will continue preparing for our journey through Ephesians 4-6, as we visit the foundational pillars of Love and the "Unity of the Spirit."
On Sunday, we will kickstart our journey through Ephesians as we lay a foundation for the upcoming season of small groups. We will talk about Ephesians 4:1-4 and the idea that our walk must match our talk! We will also commission our women's Scotland team at the 11am service. We hope you will join us!
On Sunday, we will look at the tension between expectation and expectancy in our relationship with Jesus. We will focus on Acts 11 and take time to shift our hearts towards trusting God for His plan rather than dictating to Him what His plan for us should be.
On Sunday, we will dive into the story of Elisha in 2 Kings. Elisha believed deeply in God's faithfulness and boldly walked out his faith. Elisha was an agent of transformation, and if we could embrace a fraction of the faith of Elisha, we could be agents of transformation in our homes, neighborhoods, workplace, schools, etc
On Sunday, we will continue our study of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts as we venture into chapter 10. Last week, we named the 3 ingredients necessary for fire: wood (fuel), oxygen (environment), and spark (source) and specifically looked at wood or the sacrifices that we lay on the altar before God. This week, we will look at oxygen, the environment necessary for the Holy Spirit's fire to burn in our lives.
On Sunday, we will continue our journey through Acts, as we look at the work of the Holy Spirit in Saul's conversion in Acts 9
On Sunday, we will talk about humility in our expression of God's power from the story of Acts 8. We hope you will join us!
One of the great lessons of the New Testament is how the followers of Jesus handled resistance. Resistance is anything we experience that hinders the flow of direction we are going. On Sunday, we will look at Acts 5, the persecution of the church, and what propelled them to not be hindered by resistance in their lives!

Jesus' post resurrection life was defined by His vision for the church. He spent 40 days teaching, training and preparing His followers for the call He had on their lives. His vision for His followers was simple... He handed them the mission of saving the world, promised to be with them in the person of the Holy Spirit, and empowered them in the power of the Holy Spirit! This week we will be focusing on the Holy Spirit, who the Holy Spirit is, and why the Holy Spirit is important for fulfilling the vision God has for the church.

Resurrection!! It is the source of Easter and the foundation for the Christian faith. We celebrate it, we sing about it, and we thank God for it. On Sunday, we will talk about it and the rest of the story of Jesus, but we are going to dive a little deeper into what it means for us and how to think and speak about it in such a way that the world around us sees its importance! I want to spend time celebrating AND empowering you to understand the resurrection and why those who do not believe in Jesus need to hear this message!
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna!"
These words are spoken every Palm Sunday in almost every church in the world, marking the beginning of Holy Week, the week leading up to the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. But what did they mean to those who spoke them, and what expectations were fueling their expression? Did Jesus meet those expectations, and if he didn't, what did that mean for humanity? This Sunday we will be looking at this and more as we look at the story from the perspective of Mark in chapter 11 verses 1-11.
I love stories in life that challenge me to recognize growth areas! On Sunday, we will look at one of those stories, the story of the Widow's Gift, as we learn about the importance of sacrifice in generosity! We will focus on sacrifice and its specific source, one that starts with Jesus and ends with our excited response of worship. Our response this Sunday will be our worship in bringing our Commitment Cards for the Rooted Initiative, as we truly worship through the commitment we are making to the vision of all that God is doing in our midst!
On Sunday, we will continue our journey through the Genius of Generosity. We hope you will join us as we consider the following: We often feel the need to have more money in order to feel safe, content, and happy. How much effort do we put into the pursuit of money for those reasons, and why did Jesus spend so much time teaching about money?
On Sunday, we are taking our next step in being a people who seek the prosperity of the city in which we live by focusing on generosity. Generosity is a choice, and this Sunday we will consider why generosity is truly genius, as we look at Matthew 6:19-24 and Jesus' words regarding generous investment. We can't wait to see you!

"Actions speak louder than words!" This adage speaks volumes about the love of God for us and the love we are to have for our community. On Sunday, we will finish our journey in Jeremiah 29 as we see that ownership must move to action in the context of loving our neighbors because love is ALWAYS expressed as an action. On Sunday, we will look at Jeremiah 29:7 and focus on God's call to ownership, taking the things God is compassionate about and owning them with responsibility! Whatever God owns, we are called to own!
God is calling us to root ourselves in our community. He first needs to bring a perspective shift, an awakening, to his heart for those around us in need. Second, He wants to capture our hearts with a compassion that ultimately leads us to action. This Sunday, we will look again at Jeremiah 29 as we talk about what it takes to move us to compassion as we root ourselves in the lives of our neighbors and ultimately in the life of our surrounding community.
On Sunday, we will look at the elder son from the prodigal son story. We will dive into the call to be generous by recognizing others' needs before our own and will see how the elder son walked with an orphan spirit which caused him to be unable to celebrate what was best for his father and his younger brother. Please join us this Sunday!
We are God's children; therefore, we are able to live aware of his presence at all times. However, so many of us live as if we are orphans, parentless, and unaware of God's movement in our lives and his presence leading us. This Sunday, we will take an honest look at our lives, God's promise of adoption, and how we are responding to his promise on a daily basis. Our scripture foundation will be Romans 8:14-16 and John 14:15-18.
Because of the first Advent of Jesus and the promise of His second coming, hope, love, joy, and peace are here! They are available to us every day, but do we truly believe this? Do we live this way? With the Holy Spirit in us, we can live lives marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control every day! Do we fully grasp all that He has offered us? Come join us this Sunday as we discuss how to embrace these realities in our lives.
Sunday is Christmas Eve and the last Sunday of Advent. We will be celebrating with our children at 10am and with candlelight at 5pm and focus on the "Arrival of Peace" at Christmas AND everyday of our lives in the person of Jesus!
This third week of Advent we will focus on the angel's words to the shepherds regarding Jesus... "Good news of Great Joy!" What does it mean for us to experience an advent of joy in our daily lives? What does it mean that joy is not circumstantial but is instead eternal? This Sunday, we will talk about the impact of advent in bringing joy and what it means for our lives every day!
We can hope for the arrival of God in our lives!! The Advent season is about "The Arrival." It speaks to the fact of Jesus' first arrival and turns us towards a life prepared for his second coming, but in an even deeper sense, it speaks to the truth of God's arrival in every part of our lives on a daily basis! All of us struggle with this, though, and lose hope! This Sunday, we will look at the lives of Mary and Joseph, the questions they would have wrestled with, and the moments that could have stolen their hope and see how all of this speaks to our lives as we are awakened to a life anticipating, expecting, and prepared for His arrival!
Preparation...a word that speaks to getting ourselves ready for what lies ahead. On Sunday, we will look at the work God is doing in our midst and the need to partner with Jesus in the preparation He is doing in us for the works he has prepared for us to do!
Join us this Sunday as Harvest and team lead us in a time of extended worship and our Vintage family shares stories of God's goodness and faithfulness during this season. We are excited to hear how God is moving! Come and be encouraged!
"Taste and see that the Lord is good!" The writer of Psalms 34 is expressing in song his own experience of God's love and goodness, and he wants everyone else to experience it too! It was more than something he understood only in his mind; it was the actual experience of his life, and it changed him. As we read Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21, we see this same idea expressed. Paul wants the churches to move beyond the understanding of God's power and love as mere mental conviction. He wants them to be filled to fullness in every area and aspect of their lives! He wants them to truly taste and see that the Lord is good!
On Sunday, we will dive into Ephesians 3:1-13. In these verses, we will focus on Paul's sacrificial call to love and serve the Gentiles and recognize it as a model for how we should live our lives. Because so many of our women will be away this weekend at the Women's Spiritual Life Retreat, our K-5th graders will also join us in services this Sunday.
Paul loved the idea of racism ending in Asia Minor. He loved that two different people groups from two different cultures, by the grace and power of God, were unified as one and put into the same family! This week, looking at Ephesians 2:19-22, we will see the unique expression of what that unified family looks like, break down the depth of it, and talk about the biblical expression of what that unified life can look like as we truly embrace being God's family.
On Sunday, we will look at the second chapter of Ephesians again as Paul reminds his readers of who they were before Jesus came and the love of Jesus that saved them apart from their own actions. Second, we will see how Paul shifts that understanding of grace and salvation to tell the story of how God tore down the wall of racism and discuss what that means for us today!
This Sunday, we will venture into Ephesians chapter 2. As Paul declares, we were once dead in our sins, but now we are alive in Christ! What does this mean for us and for how God wants to be known by the demonstration of His power through us?
This week we will continue our study of the book of Ephesians as we focus on chapter 1:17-23. Here we see Paul praying for those to whom he is writing - that their eyes would be opened to two spiritual realities they have not yet seen. Join us while we uncover what God has in store for His people as we grow and seek His reality in our lives.
Paul celebrated the church's love for all the saints. What is love, and what about it did he celebrate? On Sunday, we will dig deeper into the relationship between faith and love, why it's important, and what it means for us! We will also commission our Scotland mission team at the 11am service. We hope you will join us!
On Sunday, we will look at Ephesians 1:15 and focus on Paul's excitement over the church's expression of faith! We will talk about what faith is, what it looks like, and how it applies to our lives as we recognize that without faith we cannot please God. It will be important that we keep our eyes focused on true north and not allow them to find their primary focus anywhere else.
On Sunday, we will take our next step into Ephesians by looking at Paul's message to the Ephesians about God's plan to bring everything in the world under the authority of Jesus. It is "The Plan," and Paul wants to fill them with confidence that, in all things and at all times, God is in control!
This Sunday, as we dive headlong into Ephesians 1:3-10, we see Paul's confidence in the calling of the churches in Asia-Minor. He knew their "success" was dependent upon them walking in the reality of God in their lives in contrast to walking in the reality of the world. He begins the conversation about God's reality by focusing on the spiritual blessings that define them, in the hopes of reminding them of all God has already done for them and what that means for them presently. As we look at this message, we will see the tension in our lives of this Dueling Reality, celebrating God's blessings in our lives and taking time to be honest about which reality actually defines our lives...God's reality or the world's reality!
This Sunday, we will celebrate the miracle our good friend overseas experienced this week! We believe God wants to use this to speak a message of hope and faith into us too. Also, as we continue to prepare for our study of Ephesians, we will look at what was taking place in the first century church as The Spirit was moving in ways the world had never seen.

On Sunday, we will return to the story of Asa, focusing on a specific phrase from 2 Chronicles 16:9 - "...those who hearts are fully committed to him..." We will also consider how this impacts the story of King Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20. Our takeaway will be the joy we find in knowing God's excitement as He strongly supports those whose hearts are right before Him!
We want to be people whom God strongly supports!! On Sunday, we will dive into the life of King Asa (2 Chronicles 16:7-13) as we talk about his tragic story and what we can learn from it. In this story, we find a man who has fallen away from a vibrant faith, who makes some terrible decisions, and who literally puts himself in a place where God is handcuffed from moving in his life! His life lessons can be a help in giving us direction in the moments where our faith is waning or non-existent and show us what we must do to return to a place where God is able to strongly support our lives! We are also excited to celebrate the baptisms of those who have committed their lives to Jesus and our 8th birthday!

We will look at some of the heart behind Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus and the church's call to be a new society and how this pertains to us as we look forward to our church wide study on the book of Ephesians beginning in September.
Last Sunday, Harvest spoke a word over us in worship about God "overshadowing" us. It was/is a word that resonated deeply within many of us, and this Sunday, we will take a deeper look into what God is doing and how we can connect ourselves to His work. What does it mean for God to overshadow us? How does it change our outlook on life? What responsibility do we have, if any, in God's movement over us? Sunday marks the beginning of Foster Care Awareness among churches across America. As many of you know, Foster Care is the primary local outreach that we devote time, money, energy, and resources to in our community. We launched this initiative in March of 2013, and the response of our people has been astounding. This Sunday, we will take time to focus once again on this primary ministry at Vintage 242 and how God is calling us to make a life altering difference in the lives of at risk children in Paulding and surrounding counties.

No one likes "waiting." We live in a culture where instant gratification is expected and the idea of having to wait for anything seems painful. Yet waiting is a part of our life and especially a part of our spiritual life. How well do you wait? How well do you handle delayed answers to prayer? Focusing on James 5:7-11, this Sunday, we will talk about the difficulty of waiting, focusing on those who waited thousands of years for the Messiah at Easter, and how it applies to our lives.

The response is telling, as his influence was felt both in those who knew him well and those who didn't really know him at all. As we move forward in our Family Resolutions, looking at the influence of Jesus, we must continually evaluate our lives, how people receive us, and what we can do to influence the lives of the generation that is coming after us. He literally told the masses that if anyone caused one of his little ones to stumble that it would be better for that person if they just tied a massive rock around their neck and jumped into the ocean to drown. That is pretty severe, yet it shows that God is protective of and massively loves his/our children! I believe all of us would agree that the greatest way to influence someone is through more affirmation and less correction. Both are vital to our growth, but we often times have them out of balance. On Sunday, we will return to Deuteronomy 6:4-7 as we look at our responsibility to influence those we are in relationship with through affirmation birthed out of our primary relationship to the Father. We will be breaking down verses 6 and 7 in depth and see how we can each grow into a person of great influence!
"Everything is wrong with my spouse!" So often when we look at our marriages, our greatest tension lies in our ability to focus only on our spouses' negatives and their need to change. It is like staring at a piece of salad stuck in the teeth of the person across the table from us and not being able to focus on anything he's saying because all we can see is salad! In marriage, we become so fixated on what is wrong with our spouses that we only see their broken places and we miss the positive areas where they need affirmation! Shifting from a place of negativity to honest positivity can the be the difference of life and death in a relationship. On Sunday, we will talk about creating a Family Resolution of Affirmation, recognizing that our spouses aren't all wrong or all terrible and learn to find the areaswhere we can encourage, support and affirm!
Marriage and Relationships!!! Last week, we started a conversation about the Pillars of Marriage as we looked at Genesis 2:24-25 and God's eternal, foundational message about lasting marriages. We talked about the Pillars of Priority (God first and spouse second) and Pursuit (we must win our spouse every day). On Sunday, we will look at the last two Pillars of Possession and Purity from verse 25. For our marriage relationships (and honestly every other relationship of priority) to thrive and last for eternity, it is imperative that we know, understand, and build these pillars. Please be here Sunday to dive into this conversation. To be honest...I am tired of marriages not making it! If we will be intentional to fight for and ask God for grace in building these pillars, I believe we can save our marriages!! God is for your marriage, He has Hope for your marriage, and He is fighting for your marriage... Will you fight for it alongside of Him?

In our culture today, no relationship in our family life is under greater attack than marriages, meaning in our marriages, we must make God the center of everything we do. This week, we will lay a foundation for God-centered relationships as we look at his intention for marriages in Genesis 2:24-25. We will look at God's role and our individual and dual roles in the marriage and build a foundation of lasting principles that will keep marriages centered on Jesus and give them the chance to thrive!
Today, much is said and much is made in the church of having passion for Jesus. Most of us wouldn't disagree that we should be passionate for Jesus, but most of us, if we are being honest, would have to admit that it isn't as easy as it sounds. As we come to the third Sunday of Advent, we turn our focus to Jesus' first coming. When thinking of what motivated the Father to send His son, we must remember God's faithfulness, his unswerving devotion to the ones he loves. On Sunday, we will look at the nature of God's faithfulness, how he expressed it at Christmas and how we should respond to his act of devotion.
"O come, O come Emmanuel..." The essence of this song speaks to hope breaking in at the first coming of Jesus at Christmas. He "ransomed captive Israel," "dispersed gloomy clouds," and freed us from "Satan's tyranny." Advent speaks to the fact that if Jesus came once and did these things, then we can rest assured that He will do it again!
On Sunday, we will look at Romans 13:11-14, as we focus on becoming a people who live with anticipation of Jesus' movement towards brokenness and a confidence in his engagement of those in need! In it, we will propose a new life style, which if adopted, could slow us down and change our lives forever!

This is another way of saying that Jesus transforms us when we become Christians, but we have life experiences to work through. Join us this week as we continue looking at Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, specifically looking at how God wants to use and redeem our past experiences, families of origin, and cultural upbringing.
On Sunday, using King David as our model, we will take a look at the foundation of our Emotionally Healthy Spirituality study, as we focus on a life marked by the marriage of intentionally slowing down to be with Jesus (The Contemplative Life) and an awareness of one's own growth areas and how well we love our neighbors (Emotional Health). As we integrate these two, it raises us above the influence of the "beast" of our culture and the power of sin in our lives and moves us towards a truly victorious and healthy spiritual life!

We recognize that God always desires to bring transformation in our lives, and to make that happen, He is always highlighting growth areas in our lives. We have to know what those areas are so we can work with him to mature and grow and be transformed. We must know ourselves and our growth areas, so that we may know God like we are designed to know Him! On Sunday, we will look at Psalm 139 and David's knowledge of himself that led him to transformation and growth in his own life.
This Sunday, we will look at the life of Saul in 1 Samuel 15. Saul appears to be serving God by praying, listening to prophetic words, going to church, and doing some of God's will, but below the surface, he is motivated by his desire for others' approval. Oftentimes, we live one way above the surface and in appearances when there is actually a whole other reality underneath. Join us this Sunday as we unpack the problem of emotionally unhealthy spirituality and the truth that it's impossible for us to be in touch with God if we're not in touch with ourselves.
Sunday marks our official launch into small groups for the fall. Small groups are a vital part of our DNA at Vintage as we believe we are better as a church when people are intentionally in relationships with one another, spurring each other on to greater spiritual growth. We believe in these small groups each of us has a role to play in the lives of others. Therefore, on Sunday, we will look at Galatians 5:25-6:5 and see how Paul defines our maturity in the Spirit of God by how we relate to other people in our lives. We are hoping this will act as a Catalyst, not just for growth of relationships in your small groups, but to awaken us to an understanding that our maturity and growth in Christ is measured by how we ultimately relate to everyone God has placed in our lives.

This Sunday, we'll examine what contemplative spirituality actually is, as we continue to prepare for our fall study, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. We truly believe contemplative spirituality is essential for us to move toward the abundant life Jesus has for us.
The power of gravity means that everything on earth is drawn towards the center of the earth. What if we lived with a center of gravity focused on Jesus? Paul makes this statement at the end of a long discussion about the movement of gifts within the church as a clear and succinct way to sum up the heart of his message. He is challenging the motivation behind their actions, and it becomes a simple thought they can use to test everything they do! On Sunday, as we read over 1 Corinthians 14:26-33, we will focus on this phrase from Paul, what it means for the movement of spiritual gifts in the church, and what it means for our actions in everyday life!

This Sunday, we will continue our conversation on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, diving into 1 Corinthians 14. Our focus will be on the gifts of tongues and prophecy, their role in the church today, and how it applies to us.
Starting this Sunday we will begin, as one family meeting at 10am, a several week look at 1 Corinthians 12-14 and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We have laid a very clear foundation over the past month, a foundation that will allow the gifts to flow without hindrance if we embrace it. This Sunday, we will define the gifts, what they are, and what God hoped to accomplish through them! If we truly want to fulfill our vision of "Transforming our community through the love of Jesus," then our understanding and use of the gifts is mandatory to see this happen!
This Sunday, we will build our last foundational step before diving into the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in earnest as we look at Paul's message in 1 Corinthians 13. For Paul, this last step is the thing that makes or breaks our effectiveness in using the gifts, and if we don't embrace it, it will keep the church from effectively ministering in the power of God's Spirit!
In 1 Corinthians 12, we have seen Paul encouarging the Corinthian church to live a life of spirit-empowered giftedness for the common good. We have seen Paul say that everyone has something to contribute and that all contributions are valuable. But what is his overall goal in pointing all of these things out? What is he getting at? Join us this Sunday as we look at the motivation and goal of Paul's big picture in 1 Corinthians 12.

We are fast forwarding to Chapter 12 of 1 Corinthians as we begin looking at the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and their role and purpose in the body of Christ. We will look at Paul's intention, which is not clearly stated in the verses, and what he is trying to combat in his letter as he hopes to build the spiritual life of the church body as a whole.
"I love Jesus, but I am more comfortable thinking about sin." None of us wants this to be the thought that runs through our minds, but sometimes the verses we identify with best are the ones about sin, God's hatred of sin, and His discipline when we DO sin. For churchgoers, years of preaching has helped perpetuate this. When speakers spend an inordinate amount of time focusing on sin and our need to repent of it and add only a brief tag at the end about God's ability to forgive, it seems as if all God can ever focus on is our sin! In turn, the thing we focus on best is our own sin!
This Sunday, we will look at 1 Corinthians 10 and how Paul addresses the sin of the Corinthian church. Is sin Paul's primary focus? Is sin the main focal point of this scripture, or is there something more powerful about God to be found that maybe, just maybe, is the focus of these verses and that defines what should also be our primary focus in life?
Paul told the Corinthians to live life focused on the prize of eternity and to treat their lives like an athlete treats their life...disciplined and self controlled for the purpose of winning the prize. This Sunday, we will look at Paul's message in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 and what it means for us as we step into the life that Jesus has for us!

This week, as we continue our pursuit of maturity as a body, we will look at 1 Corinthians 2 and Paul's message about wisdom. Join us as we begin learning to discern how to live every day according to the wisdom of God rather than the foolishness of man.
Paul is crazy!! In chapter 2, he paints a picture of a life lived in the power of the Spirit of God while celebrating weakness, fear of God and humility. Nothing would have seemed more absurd to his readers, yet they could not deny that God's power had moved through him...they had seen and experienced it! What are you focused on in life? What are your primary energies geared towards on a daily basis? Who or what do you trust to satisfy you? In 1 Corinthians, Paul speaks to a people who have received life in Christ. However, they have sinceshifted their focus and energies, and Paul is writing them to remind them of who they are and what Jesus has done in their lives. As we look at theirlives and Paul's challenge, we will ask ourselves the questions above and see what God wants to move and shift in us to bring about the greatest fulfillment and joy!
Paul says to those he loves, in so many words, "I wish I could speak to you as adults, but I just can't!" The issue facing the church in Corinth was simple...they were not Grounded for Life. In the upcoming months, we will take a journey through Paul's letter to his friends and family as he deals with the issues that are keeping them from growing off of a healthy foundation for life. We will look directly at all the issues he addresses...sexual immorality, broken marriages, disunity in the church, rivalry and competition among friends and family, use and abuse of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and how culture can negatively influence us without us even knowing it! Each week, we will tell the Corinthians' story and see what we need to learn from it so we can be Grounded for Life!!
This Sunday, we will be looking at The Great Resolve. Through the person of Jesus, God resolved to save us. What is our response to Him? Do we love Him with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind as He commanded? What if we did?

s we approach the end of our "Empowered" series, the lessons and leadings of Jesus during this time are at a crossroads in our hearts and minds... Do we fully dive into them or let them slowly fade away in our lives? Unfortunately, all of us know what that fading looks like, don't we? We have probably lost track of the number of times something wells up in our hearts, something that Jesus has spoken, something that we have passionately embraced, only to lose sight of it over time.
Seeking the Kingdom of God is not a matter of action but a matter of our wills being laid bare before God. From this humble place, the Kingdom of God is at hand, and there is nothing like the power of the Kingdom when He has His way.
As we talk about being empowered by God's Spirit, it's imperative, as we discussed last week, that we function in the form and with the purpose of Jesus. This means that we will move in the supernatural and in the natural, as we walk in obedience to God. On Sunday, we will discuss what it means to be supernaturally natural in our daily lives.
We are empowered, but are we expecting to be God's agent through which power flows? This Sunday we will talk about the purposes of God's power and our responsibility with it.
God empowers those who have given their lives to Him. He pours out power as an act of grace, a gift He gives that we haven't earned and don't deserve. He expects us to walk in this gift, to look, act and sound like Jesus in the gospels and the apostles in the book of Acts. In fact, the world, whether it knows it or not, is hoping for the church, God's people, to express this power because nothing else it tries works. But...most of the Church isn't...isn't walking in power, expressing the likeness of Jesus, or powerfully affecting change in a lost world. This Sunday, we take one more step towards becoming a church that does these things! We will look at the key to power and the posture of those who are empowered and be honest about areas in our lives that may be impeding the flow of Jesus in our lives! Please don't let anything keep you from being with God's family this week!

This Sunday is a new, never before experience at Vintage 242 Church. This week Vintage welcomes Mark Nysewander, the Executive Director of the Transformation Newtwork that Vintage is a part of. Mark will be coming to Vintage to share from 1 Corinthians 13.
As followers of Jesus our lives are defined by our capacity to receive love and our ability to express love. In Luke 7:36-50 Jesus compares two different people, one who is seemingly far from God and another who should be close to him, and the way in which they express love towards Jesus. The outcome of the story is surprising and speaks volumes about the power of forgiveness and what it means in our lives and our ability to receive and express love.
This Sunday we will look at this story, our identity as His followers and how we are doing at receiving love from and expressing love to Jesus!

At the same time we will discuss a moms value as a daughter, understanding that a moms identity is birthed not out of being a mother, but out her relationship with her Heavenly Father. In this relationship there is value, peace and fulfillment, that carries over to everything else in life!

No other phrase in our busy and hectic culture needs to be adopted more than this one, yet no other phrase seems more distant from our experience! This week we will be looking at Luke 6:1-11 and Jesus' perspective shift in the area of Sabbath, God's day of rest marking the end of creation! This perspective shift changes everything for us about life and work. It changes everything about performance and personal responsibility. God's rest, pictured in the creation of Sabbath, may just be God's most important creation for humanity!

At the end of Luke 5, Jesus calls Levi (Matthew) to follow Him and attends a party filled with Levi's friends. ALL of his friends happen to be MAJOR sinners in the eyes of the religious leaders. The leaders are offended by Jesus, but then Jesus speaks, and what He says changes everything about the strong conviction the church has towards sinners!

This Sunday we will continue on our journey through Luke as we look back at what we have discussed over the past few weeks and relate it to Peter's call to be a fisher of men in Luke 5. We will then ask, "What does it mean for us today?"
This call of Jesus is profound and cannot be missed!
Jesus' preparation through testing in the desert, the giving of the Holy Spirit, being equipped with power and humility catapulted Jesus into His ministry! But we cannot miss the result of his preparation...Jesus had an authority that expressed itself in many different ways...healing, power over demons, humility etc.! This Sunday we will look at this authority, how Jesus expressed it and what we can learn from it.
This week we will be looking at Luke 4:22-30. In the midst of God's preparation for our calling there will be things God may do that offend us. In the midst of the process how do we handle the offenses? On Sunday we will look at these from the book of Luke, and we will be discussing this reality that many of us face.
"Are we prepared like Jesus to bring the transformation Jesus brought?"
The call on Jesus' life, which is the call on our life, is to bring Transformation in the lives of those needing transformation. However, before we can transform others we must first be prepared as Jesus was prepared. This week we want to look at Luke's words in chapter 4 about the Holy Spirit and see how that applied to Jesus' preparation and in turn how it applies to us. What does the Holy Spirit of God have to do with Jesus' work of transformation and how does it apply to us? We will discuss this on Sunday and more!
Last week Scott talked about supernatural things that only God can do. As he looked at Luke 9 and 10 he named a theme we see run all the way through scripture...
There are supernatural works only God can do, but he does them through His people for the purpose of saving those who need Him! God does the work but He is looking for those He can do it through! Each of us are perfect candidates to be used by God but we must ask ourselves..."Am I being used by God in this way?"
Beginning this week we will be looking at the idea of being "Transformed." Transformation has in mind the idea of a dramatic change in form. As followers of Jesus our desire is to be transformed in such a way that we naturally begin seeing the supernatural flow through us for the purpose of loving Jesus and our neighbors, being used by God in biblical proportions!! Are you ready for this movement of God?
This week we will continue to "unpack" Luke 9 and the mission behind
the power and authority that Christ commissions his disciples to.
Last week we talked about the fact that the things we have been "saved from,"
in their vastness and gravity, are equal to the vastness and gravity of what we have been "saved for!" This is good news for us, for the church and for the world!
Starting this week we will begin painting a picture of what we are "saved for" as we focus on Jesus' teaching in Luke. Our belief is simple...as we focus on the words of Jesus, ask Him to enlighten our mind, will and emotions to them, our lives will be TRANSFORMED and we will find the life lived in abundance for him.
Steve looks at why we were saved. He examines the writing of John and talks about how we can live for our purpose.
The good news of Jesus at Christmas changes everything in life. It changes our perspective, our direction and defines our purpose. Yet, so often it doesn't or better stated we don't let it. Sunday we will spend some time talking about seeing life through the lens of the gospel as we focus on one of the clearest biblical pictures of the gospel in action...the prodigal son story in Luke 15. It is a familiar story but one that is new every time we read it because it reminds us of God's powerful love, his counter cultural act of humility and his dangerous example we are all to follow!
When telling Luke's story of the birth of Jesus one phrase that stands out is the angels description that what is happening in Bethlehem is "Good News of Great Joy."
This was their belief and conviction. This was not just any birth and did not have just any ramification. It was "good news of great joy for all people!" Stepping into this holiday season I wonder if we feel and think the same way or if we are missing the celebration of the Angels. Starting this Sunday we will take a look at the "Good News"
of Jesus' birth and walk through its meaning for us in the area of our daily salvation and empowerment for life! Is Christmas good news for you? It can be!!

In 1 Corinthians 12 Paul speaks about a "thorn in his side" that accentuates his weakness where the power of God becomes strong for him. What does this mean and does it have meaning for us today? What does it speak about Jesus' Lordship and our need for humility? What does it say about our personal spiritual roller coasters? What does it mean in relationship to God's power and its place in our lives...EVERYDAY? This Sunday we will discuss these things and more as we focus on the most important word in all of scripture...and I am not talking about LOVE!
Living on mission with Jesus is overwhelming, sobering and exciting!

we take to live and stay focused on this mission that is to define our lives!
One thing that I believe is clear in scripture, that we talked about last week is this... Jesus had a mission from God while here on earth...and Jesus passed along that mission to his followers who then passed it down to every future follower of Jesus! "We are on a mission from God." But the mission is not easy, it is not always fun and it does not always make us happy! Therefore, a question we will look at this week from Mark 14 is this, "Do we believe Jesus is better than anything else?" If we don't believe this then I am afraid the mission of God will become too much for us bear.
In John 20:12 Jesus tells his disciples, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."
In this simple verse Jesus defines His expectation for every one of his followers.
Jesus' life is our example to follow, his mission is to become our mission.
Our lives are to be lived with His example and mission in mind at all times!
This conversation speaks to our purpose in life, our calling as a person and creates
a life picture that if embraced would mean our life is literally changing the world!
In our conversations about our Real Life, the call to family, discipleship and mission, it is easy to caught up in "the doing", the responsibility we have to be obedient to Jesus in these areas. But many times what gets lost in the doing is "the source" that is supposed to empower our doing! This Sunday we will look at Matthew 28 and Acts 1-3 as we name the source, what it means for us and how we tap into it. My sense about this week is clear...I believe God wants to recenter us in His love, faithfulness and nearness which will act as a catalyst for all that we do on a daily basis!
As we continue Real Life conversations this week we take a look at the Basics of Discipleship. What did Jesus mean in Matthew 28 when he said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..."? Who was Jesus talking to? What does it mean to us?
As we continue on in Acts 2 we see the disciples of Jesus following in Jesus' steps by teaching and leading these new followers. Jesus said, "to him whom much is given, much is required." The disciples received the words of life from Jesus and He entrusted to them the responsibility of raising up these new followers, to make them into disciples. This call is one that is passed down now to every believer! The question we must ask and process is, "Are WE, as God's family, making disciples?" This Sunday we will begin this conversation as we recognize this beautiful responsibility!
As family we are called to be All-In together for the purposes of God.
What does that togetherness look like? What does God do through it?

Real Life conversations are birthed out of a need to have people run with us in life...we have not been designed to live independent but interdependent on others! We need to be communicating our wins, hurts, needs and struggles so others can come alongside of us and help. Is this easy? Of course not! Vulnerability is never easy...but it is necessary! This Sunday we will take a look at these Real Life conversations with one another and what they mean for our success in life!
We are shifting this week to discuss Real Life conversations with our spiritual family.
We are in family with God meaning we now have a large extended family.
In this spiritual family we have great responsibilities, but do we know what those
look like? This week we will dive into Matthew 18 and see what Jesus has for us in regards to our spiritual family.
Each of us have an opportunity to dive into Real Life Conversations with our primary relationships, starting with our relationship with Jesus. How do you feel talking to God? Is it life giving, scary, freeing or condemning? This Sunday we want to free people to begin having conversations with Jesus that are birthed out of and grounded in his love for us. It can change everything in life when we begin to get God's perspective on what these Real Life Conversations can look like!!

Our call to the REAL LIFE we have been discussing for all of 2014 is a life that cares more about eternal things than earthly things. Its not that all earthly things are bad,
but they are not eternal therefore they should not get the best of our energies.

When Jesus designed our Real Life for us he had in mind two things: Shape us to be who he called us to be, Empower us to do what he has called us to do. Moving forward over the next couple of months we are shifting our focus to the things God has called and empowered us to do! This Sunday we will focus on Jesus' words in Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

In our own strength we can not truly love others without the Holy Spirit empowering our life.
Godly love leads to service, which leads to God pouring out of his power in our life.
Paul addresses in 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 how every person needs to boast in their weakness. We should be telling God's story, not ours, and embracing our inferiority within that.
Humility, though it feels counter to us, is where the greatest power is found. Jesus celebrated and moved in power because His life was one of dependance on God.

If we are wrestling with barriers in our lives, we are bound by guilt and condemnation. If we encounter the resurrection of Jesus, we are spiritually released with breakthrough to experience freedom of God's joy in our lives.

In our place of despair and brokenness, Jesus is present, in our midst. As we interact and do good to our brothers, we are not only representing Jesus but we are serving him, as we serve others.

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Families are messy. Jesus wants us to live in intimacy and be inseparable. The heartbeat of jesus is compassion for ALL people. Those who are broken, hurting and if we are to be inseparable our heart should be his heart.
We are all the prodigal child. We all see the story through different lenses, but when it boils down, we've all squandered are inheritance. God's reckless love is more than a match than any of our reckless living. He's eager to radically respond to our need to come back home.
As we move forward, led by God's daily directive in expanding His kingdom, we need to focus on: -Stop complaining and picking up the weapon you have. -Wecoming God's annointing. -Quit hiding and take the offensive. -Believe God fights with you -Go for total victory.
There is tension in family. The church body is a family and the same is undeniably true for us as well. We hope that as we connect with each other, that the tensions of our family will be met with Equality, Openness, Humility & Forgiveness
The call of God in scripture is clear…you must do life with others who will help you become like Jesus! He can move in a formal, large group gathering, but naturally chooses to move in you through other people! That was his command…Go make disciples! How? By investing into people.
As we celebrate our first service moving into the community, we celebrate that God moves on our behalf before us. Be still and know He is God.
God has moved in the life of Vintage 242. Moving forward, we look back to remember these things.

A message of knowing God, His Father heart, knowing he fights for us, knowing we can't earn anything he gives us, knowing all we ave to do is put ourselves into a posture of receiving and he will be faithful to move.
