CiTR & Discorder Magazine
Textbook (FKA The Student Special Hour) is an eclectic foray into the wonderful world of UBC campus life. Each week features a plethora of student initiatives, upcoming events, and current affairs, brought to you through interviews with clubs, faculty, societies and associations. Listen to this and more brought together in a nice tidy bow by CiTRs very own Student Programming Coordinator. Come on a while ride with us as we sit down each week and bring you news and tunes for campus living.

This week, Halla DJs solo for the first half, and then Lucy joins in with her characteristic pop. It's also Lucy's final episode as a host on SSH before she departs for Ireland! We love you Lucy!
This week on SSH, we play some content relevant to our name! Estephania does an interview, Halla chooses the songs (Dories, Momo, ABRA + more), Lucy hosts.
Lucy makes a guest appearance on her own show, alongside Halla! They play music to be played at the CiTR & Discorder showcase at Khatsahlano on July 9th, located at 4th & Vine. They also talk about tons of events!
This week, Halla hosts solo and plays music from a show on June 29th, 2016 (tonight!) at LanaLou's. Featuring Hansmole, Plazas, Only Wolf, Big Goose and R.Ariel.
Halla and Lucy talk levitation show and give away some tickets to a few lucky listeners to show them some student special hour love.

Estephania, Lucy, and Halla discuss the topic of nostalgia from their different experiences and perspectives. As we discuss, we float through tunes that remind us of past things and enter us into a state of nostalgia.

UBC refugee relief discuss their work all year to bring a refugee family over to Canada through many different fundraising efforts. As well, Achmed blesses our ears with some traditional Oud music that will be played at their Gala this week.
GeneRocksity's incoming co-president comes into the studio to share about their final end of year event and the organizational systems of the zero-cost, zero-budget group that puts on events entirety for charity. Arts Undergraduate Society joins us in the studio as well to discuss Summer send off! A free event for students involving food, activities, and lots more.
This show involves a pre-recorded presentation done by the CiTR student executive and the student programming coordinator promoting CiTR and how it has made and recorded history throughout the years as well as how this kind of organization is an incredible way for students to learn valuable skills about leadership and independent, DIY radio! Interspersed with a DIY style group that produces regular videos with local UBC bands and musicians promoting their work and giving artists better opportunity for exposure in Vancouver.
This weeks Student Special Hour Features a half an hour segment of a broadcasting and journalism panel done by The Talon, The Ubyssey, Her Campus, This Week At UBC and CiTR last semester at the Totem residencies. As well, it features a segment on upcoming campus events and some tunes to get you moving on a rainy Friday morning.
Happei joins me in the studio to talk UBC Fun Run Club. For International Women's Day the Student Special Hour features an all Fem Con show while discusses on going campus events and initiatives at UBC including Centennial Celebrations
LFS come in to talk about their upcoming event Bonfire party as well as all the inner workings of their LFSUS experiences. As well, I talk Fundrive, UBC Players Club, UBC Slam, and a bit one AMS Elections mixed in with local indie hits.

As well, they discuss their upcoming show on Sunday along with their journey doing music, how they found their instruments, and their experiences studying music post-secondary.

Sexual Assault Awareness month rap up concluded with an interview by sociology and anthropology professor Tal Nitsan. Tal talks about her experiences with introducing different voices into the conversation when discussing gender based violence.

After, we feature some transgender artists and speak with Ashley from SASC about Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resistance and opening up people's language and every day activities to better include transgender and gender non-conforming folks.
UNIK joins the student special hour to discuss what is involved in a Korean Cultural Club and how they work to promote inclusivity and diversity across campus.
I talk to Cameron and Monica from AMS Speakeasy about the services they offer, how to break down stigma involving mental health, and what to do if you have a friend you're concerned about.
Jay Singh from the AMS Food Bank joins us to discuss the increased demand for the food bank, upcoming initiatives and to play a silly game of "Is it a band, is it or a food, or is it both?" Tune in to listen to an hour of tunes, chats, and good times.

It's the AMS services edition of the Student Special! This week we welcomed Kyra from Speak Easy and Eviatar from the Social Justice Centre to talk about their services available to the UBC community!
Speakeasy provides peer support for students facing a wide variety of challenges.
With the support from Peer Support Volunteers who are extremely carefully, and well trained, they aim to help students deal with a wide range of problems. Their goal is to help you resolve problems yourself, by supporting, empowering, and guiding you through unfamiliar territory.
The Social Justice Centre is hosting it's annual conference from March 24-26th and also on March 30. In a series of events from panel discussions, film screening, and fundraising concert they are raising awareness to the social situations that are happening around the world.

Invited the AMS CO-OP to come on air to talk about what the Bike COOP and Bike Kitchen is and the services that they provide along with how studnets can get involved with the organization.
The Players Club come on air to talk about the Dionysia Festival and the 7 plays they are presenting some written by students but all of which produced and played by students. The festival is from February 25th - 28th and March 1st at Dorthy Sumerset Studios.

Rent a musical put on by the talented first year residents of Place Vanier and facilitated by Residence Advisors came on air to chat about their upcoming musical! Through a series of questions, we get to know a little bit about the cast and crew of Rent. This is truly an amazing group of people!
