Every two weeks Dom, Melissa, and John break down the greatest movies to punch, chop and kick. After going through the entire run of Miami Vice, we've graduated to the greatest era of action movies. Karate? You betcha. Rooftop hand-to-hand combat? You better believe it. A pommel horse right when you need it most to do gymkata!? Guaranteed. Join us as we look at all the great action movies you love.
Hey pals, summer got so busy we had to take a few weeks off. BUT, we are not leaving you without an amazing episode. This time we are going deep into the archives, all the way back to episode number 60 to reminisce over a fantastic episode of Miami Vice. Back in 2017 we reviewed Better Living Through Chemistry and after 4 years it feels good to look at it again.

To say we had low expectations of this movie is an understatement. However, we saw the cast, movie poster, the trailer, and we were sold!
You know we love Billy Blanks and as children of the 80s we adore Roddy Piper. Combine those two super powers together, there was no way we wouldn't stop to watch this one. Although it is the junkiest of junk food movies, we wouldn't have it any other way.
We have so much fun with this movie, too! John finds a Scooby-Doo connection for multiple guest stars, Dom knows which Wal-Mart they bought the wardrobe, and Melissa has to re-explain the entire plot because apparently the boys weren't paying attention.

It is well known how much we love Carl Weathers. So there was absolutely zero chance we weren't going to cover Action Jackson. One of our all-time favorite action movies that is the textbook definition of what made 80's action great. We love this movie.
We also have a lot of fun in this podcast episode! We swoon over the cast, in particular that scene of Carl all greased up, and get down on more Vanity music.

This is one of our favorite karate movies… for all the wrong reasons. Coming off of a serious movie in our last episode, Tiger Claws is the exact opposite. It goes straight to Silly Town on the express train with no brakes. One thing is certain, many, many people didn’t know they were gonna be in the background of this movie.
Between the karate, slo-mo, and Jalal attempting to do his best Sonny Crockett impersonation, there is a movie about Tarek’s tiger addiction that needs to be addressed. We take it head on!
John wonders if Bolo even knew they were filming a movie and Melissa proposes he was being Bowfinger’ed. Dominic is still in awe of the ability to kick someone while sitting criss-cross-apple-sauce. We all ABSOLUTELY LOVE Cynthia Rothrock.

We went into Alien Nation not knowing what to expect. All we knew is that our dad and everyone's dad loves this movie.
And did it deliver!
This was a fantastic movie (well, at least according to Dom) and hits you more in the feels than you expect. What really delivers this movie is Mandy Patinkin, but who would be surprised by that?
We also have a lot of fun with it, mostly at the expense of James Caan. There's some discussion about beavers and just how the Newcomer special region compares to Dolph. Plus, how movies imagine what the slight future looks like. Apparently, it includes a fuck-ton of Rambo movies.
So grab some spoiled milk and a slab of beaver, we're diving into Alien Nation!

Okay, we essentially created this seasons theme just to have an excuse to watch Tango & Cash. It is a bi-annual tradition that must never be broken! There are two paths you can go down for a good action movie. One, dark and brooding with intricate plot twists that leave you hanging on the edge of your seat. Two, take the express train straight to Silly Town. Tango & Cash bought their one-way ticket in advance to Silly Town. But that is what makes it so amazing! We spend 70 minutes GUSHING over this movie. Melissa wants to know how Pee-Wee compares to Dolph. Dominic swoons over Robert Z'Dar and Brion James being in the same movie. John gives all the details on why this movie really has everything, including Big Foot the monster truck. Do not miss this one!

This is a once-in-a-lifetime movie. Seriously. This is as good as a karate movie gets. How do we know? Its got all the tropes. Full songs that are oddly specific to the scene? Check. We absolutely adore this movie and always, ALWAYS have a ton of fun when watching and now we finally get to profess our love of Miami Connection, Dragon Sound, and Jim’s Dad. This movie was Y.K. Kim’s vision and brainchild, with Richard Park (a Korean film director) facilitating the entire thing.
So many people want to say this is a terrible movie and they use it to just rip it apart and capitalize on the “bad movie” trend. These people don’t care about these movies the way we do. They only want to tear down and use other people’s misfortunes to build themselves up. This goes against everything this movie stands for. Friendship. Honesty. Loyalty. These are the things that matter in life and Kim knew that. I will never tear this movie down, it is fantastic and tells an amazing story about friendship and family. This is the only movie in this season that has an actual heart, and not dollar signs in their eyes.

This is 100% a karate movie.

After an unexpected vacation, we’re back with a movie we have been chomping at the bit to watch. To be honest, it was everything we hoped it would be. It was like watching an action movie dubbed by Tommy Wiseau and we have zero complaints.
We have a lot to love about Angel Town, including Jacque absolutely destroying fools. Its also the first movie where the main character is 100% optional. We only have one question…

Hey pals, we had a very busy two weeks. Between our normal schedule, John on vacation, moving and then having some dental work, the next thing we knew we were out of time. So instead, we sat down and put our heads together to find a classic episode of the podcast. Something from the archives that is one of our favorites.

In just about every episode of GWTH this season we’ve mentioned one movie. An amazing movie with John Stamos as a high schooler who suddenly learns gymkata. With John being on vacation, Melissa and Dom see this opportunity to finally discuss Never Too Young To Die. A delightfully ridiculous movie that you should definitely watch.

Hands down this is one of our favorite karate movies of all-time. Full stop. In this episode we literally swoon over this entire movie, beginning to end, and in our final thoughts our only complaint is that we can’t get more. Not only is it a great movie, but being produced by Motown means it has the most amazing movie soundtrack ever.
Dominic explains his love of both Sho’nuff and Richie. Melissa has a few Laura moments over Taimak. John gives us all the details on Vanity. This is a great episode for a fantastic movie.

We go so much great feedback from our last “You Should Watch It”, we decided to make it a regular addition to the podcast. We love it because it allows us to venture deep into the archives and find classics that are just outside of our action wheelhouse.
This episode is exactly one of those situations. We don’t normally cover scifi and we’ve NEVER done a horror movie. So, why not both? Melissa and Dominic are huge horror fans (anyone want our Shudder login?) and were right at home with a classic horror with amazing practical effects. John is the scifi geek and loves the flamethrower cops in special suits running around the sewers.
Oh yeah, and its got a fantastic cast! We love C.H.U.D. as much as we love Toxie and we think you’ll love it too.

We have a TON of fun with this movie! Its so bad its good. And, to continue the honesty, this podcast episode is the best way to consume Deadly Bet. This is the best version. Also, its basically out of print so this might be the ONLY way to find it.Except on YouTube you amazing bastards!

We said the new format would give us new opportunities and we’re taking advantage of that this episode! When John mentioned that there was an action movie with a young George Clooney on jet skis, we knew there was no way we wouldn’t watch it. This episode is all about the… Honestly mediocre movie Red Surf.

There was absolutely no way we were going to cover karate movies and not have a JCVD feature. If you haven’t noticed, we are HUUUUGE JCVD fans and in reality we could probably make an entire season just about his movies. The hardest part was only choosing one for this season (okay, I know we already had him in a movie, but that didn’t count).
Melissa and Dom have just finished moving across the country, but that didn’t stop us from sitting down to record this one. Dom and John have to have most of the movie re-explained my Melissa, who is the supreme JCVD expert. Seriously, she worships the man (and his goofy YouTube videos). We have so much fun with Bloodsport, allowing us to go deeper and learn more about one of our favorite movies of all time.

This movie came out of left field. None of us had ever seen it before, but we are WELL ACQUAINTED with Don “The Dragon” Wilson. So, somehow all EIGHT of these movies fell just outside our radar. You know what? We were missing an amazing movie!
First things first, this movie has the most controversial mango in the history of mangoes. What kind of magician can peel a mango like that? And do it while running? Plus its poisoned! Between mangoes and the least flexible woman to dance on a rooftop, no matter what Jake says, we at least get a lot of montages of running up a volcano.
We have a lot of fun with this movie and it has us intrigued to watch the second. Three through 8? Maybe not.

No Retreat, No Surrender is one of our favorite movies of ALL TIME. It follows a familiar format with a main character ready to prove to the world he in fact does kick ass and a villain that makes nearly no sense. This movie is full of so many great moments, from JCVD’s rosy cheeks to the greatest training montage ever (okay, so only second to the beach montage scene in Rocky III). Its fun, its positive, its totally confusing why he’s training so hard!
We obviously have a lot of fun with this movie, while also gushing over the ghost of Bruce Lee making an appearance. There’s Seattle karate, and then everything else.

So its come to this… A GWTH clip show.
Have no fear! We’ve made a few small changes to the show, but there’s nothing to be concerned about. We’ve decided to take on a season format for the show. We decided to that so we can set themes for each season. This season was all about Joel Silver and how action movies are all connected in some way.
Our next season will begin on March 22, 2020 and our theme will be announced at the start of the next season. Here are some ideas we’ve had though:
- Video games made into movies
- Action movies turned into kids cartoon shows (that were totally inappropriate)
- ALL BILLY BLANKS, ALL THE TIME

There isn’t a more perfect Christmas movie. We will die on this hill. Not only is Die Hard a Christmas movie, but Die Hard 2 is the HARDER Christmas movie. There’s no way we could skip doing this movie since Die Hard 1 & 2 are probably the greatest action movies ever made.
Since this is one of our favorite movies we have a ton of fun gushing over the absolute perfection… While also giving it the typical GWTH treatment. We can all agree on a few things:
- The best part about this movie is that its so ridiculous. So over the top, so amazingly 90’s.
- Die Hard 1 & 2, Lethal Weapon 1 are absolutely perfect.
- We can all agree Holly is the worst.
Melissa questions its hardness. John wants to know what Dulles City Airport Police Department also has going on in its precinct (SVU? Serious Crimes Division?). Meanwhile Dom wants the ultimate Christmas crossover – John McClane versus Kevin McCalister in a winner takes all showdown.

After talking all about Rocky last week, we still had a Sylvester Stallone appetite that needed to be satisfied. The only way to make it better? Add in some Wesley Snipes. That’s how you get Demolition Man!
In our first scifi movie (Well, unless you count Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Technically that’s a scifi movie too.) we give this 90’s classic the GWTH treatment. This movie really has it all. Bungee jumping out of a helicopter? Check. Futuristic weapons? Check. Virtual SEX?! Oh, you better believe its got that too! Between the three of us we’ve probably seen this movie 50 times and it never gets old… Unless you pay real close attention to the story.
We have so much fun with this movie. We gush over Sly and Snipes battling it out. Dominic wonders if Friendly really did have prison reform on his agenda. Melissa wants to know what the “hunka chunka” is and how one could acquire it. John makes us thing about hot dog scented soap. How can you go wrong!

- Background on movie night. We started in 2013, full bore in 2014. It really started becacuse we wanted to show Jenna movies which she almost never watches. It quickly changed because we realized how many amazing movies there are.
- What’s different is that we love these movies. There’s lots of people who make podcasts about bad movies. They make it just to take a big ol’ dump on them. Just ranting about “how did this thing get made”. But we love the weird. We love the karate scenes. We love that JCVD always has a backstory that requires him to say that he was originally born in France and that explains his weird accent
- The reason why these movies are great is because they are willing to try new things but also not take themselves so seriously
The plan
- We’re gonna change this into a movie podcast, comes out bi-weekly. This will allow us to be more flexible with what movies we pick. We want to keep the Vice connection. So we’re gonna either A) Pick a movie that has a Vice star/guest star in it or B) Fits the theme of Miami Vice.
- We didn’t feel that another TV show would fit. Vice was so great, we want to add to the GWTH show rather than take it to a totally new area. I know this is new, but there’s gonna be a lot of familiar faces in these movies
- We also want to pick things that are deep cast, music is a centerpiece and we love for both its story plus being able to have some fun.
- We already have a movie slate picked out to start, the first episode will come out on 10/14 and we’ll be breaking down Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, one of the first movies after Vice for DJ

Its come to this. This is the last episode of Go With The Heat ever! After 21 episodes we’ve concluded our complete rundown of season 5 of Miami Vice. This week we’re taking a look back at the season, picking our favorite moments, guest stars and episodes. Then, we concluded with our traditional end of season clip show of all our best moments from the season of the greatest Miami Vice podcast on the internet!
We’re pretty unanimous that the season was up and down but in the end when the show was good, it was AMAZING. This season we got amnesia, story wrap-ups, lost episodes and some guy named Miracle Man. This season really had it all and we loved it.

Cannot believe it! We’re actually here. This is, for real, the absolute last episode of Miami Vice… EVER! After three years of slowly churning through every single episode we’ve finally made it to Freefall and we’re all so excited to finally see this episode. Regardless of all its flaws its still a great episode of Miami Vice. The biggest question we ask is: Would we feel different about Freefall if we didn’t watch the lost episodes first.
Freefall did deliver on very, VERY important friendship and that’s exactly how it ended. Even through all their ups and downs and the friction in Too Much, Too Late the master crime fighting duo are still friends. So many of these shows end with everyone parting ways and leaving tons of unanswered questions. This episode ends with… tons of unanswered questions. But, we’ll always know that Crockett and Tubbs still love each other.
John thinks Sonny has found his inner-meat fondler. Melissa has some advice for Bianca trying to distract the man in charge of the coup. Dominic loves the recreation of the Predator scene when they shoot up that trailer.

Freefall is such a massive, MASSIVE episode we had to break it two. As you know we not only breakdown the actual episode, but we love to look at the guest stars and music that were so important to Miami Vice. With Freefall's epic amount of music and guest stars we've broken them out into their own episode so next week we can focus just on the series finale of our beloved Vice.
This week its all about the atmosphere of Freefall. John gives us the full breakdown on the guest stars, which surprisingly doesn't include Luis Guzman or Stanley Tucci. In music the Vice producers pulled it off. We get Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, and Chicago one more time.

Okay, real talk. This is not only one of the best episodes of season 5, but maybe one of the best episodes of Miami Vice. This story is complex and nuanced. It has several subplots that lead directly into Freefall and for whatever reason it was completely pulled from air until reruns.
To be honest, we're all in total shock this episode did not air before Freefall on NBC. No jokes here, this episode really is something great. We have Stan's gambling, Tubbs' terrible loneliness, Tubbs & Crockett's strained relationship and the closure of the Valerie story line. All of that doesn't even include a very real and thoughtful story about a drug addict, child abuse & should a cop lie to take down despicable person.
This is an episode of Miami Vice you can't miss.

Its another lost episode that should have made it into the original NBC aired list. All those times we had to deal with that dummy Joey Hardin meant NBC cut the season off early and hid the amazing Miracle Man from the masses. We are all in agreement – Miracle Man may not be the super hero we need, but the one we deserve.
Dominic believes in Miracle Man trusting him to actually clean up the streets of Miami. John wonders what kind of harsh penalty people get for running over hot dog stands. Melissa is so happy to see Izzy again… and so sad for him at the end.

So you’re probably thinking, “Hey pals, where’s the Freefall? Why isn’t this Freefall?” We decided many weeks back that we would watch the lost episodes before getting to the final episode of season 5 and of Miami Vice. It’s the way it was written and we have the luxury to watch it in that order now.
Its a good thing too! In this, the first of the lost episodes, we get closure on one of the best villains from the show. Al Lombard makes his triumphant return and his final exit. We’re sad to see Al go, but its so nice to get closure on this story.
John is really impressed by the planning to drop a dead guy from a helicopter into a pool. Melissa thinks Al carries spaghetti in his pockets and Dominic wonders if the preschool Tommy goes to is the same with the pumping iron kid.

What a lead up to Freefall! This is a stellar episode with some serious social commentary. In this episode of Miami Vice the duo (plus Stan) attempt to infiltrate the Patriot Brigade, a white supremacist group they think is attempting to murder witnesses to death camp murders during World War II. Unfortunately by the end, they’re able to bring in the actual perpetrator, but can’t do anything about a group of people who deserve to be brought down.
We all loved this episode of Miami Vice and how it could still fit in today’s political climate. Dominic is stuck on that car door that keeps making an appearance. Melissa takes a swipe at Quantum Leap and John reviews all the other times we’ve seen these guest stars in Miami Vice.

In news… With the extended period between Vice episodes last week there was more news to cover than time on this show. This week we’re going to go back to mid-April to look at a story I missed. On April 19, Trisha Meili was attacked in Central Park, New York and was eventually dubbed the Central Park Jogger Case or the Central Park Five.
After the attack 5 juvenile men where apprehended, charged and convicted of the attack. Through the rest of 1989 and beyond this case has been one of the most covered and perhaps the biggest crime story of the 80’s. In 2002 the confession and DNA evidence from another man found the real attacker and the Central Park 5, who were wrongly convicted, had their charges vacated.
In Music… I mentioned last time there was one song I skipped to cover this time on This Week In Vice. From the album of the same name, Madonna’s smash hit Like a Prayer takes over the Hot 100 and keeps it for three weeks. Considered one of Madonna’s best, the song was not without controversy. The music video, directed by the Mary Lambert, was protested by The Vatican and other religious groups. Like a Prayer endured the controversy and is still one of the best pop songs of a generation.
In Movies… Speaking of Mary Lambert, Pet Semetary would be number one a the box office until mid-May so we go to the archives and holy smokes there’s a lot to choose from.
There are some amazing movies hiding behind Pet Semetary including The Dream Team, a comedy starring Michael Keaton and Christopher Lloyd. Also playing is the legendary sports drama Kevin Costner, the third greatest sports movie behind Major League and of course, Bull Durham. Third on the list of classics is the Jean-Claude Van Damme scifi camp classic Cyborg. I don’t care if a lot of people don’t like Cyborg, in my house we love JCVD and everything he does.
Which brings me to the final classic to review this week. Starring John Cusack and directed by Cameron Crowe is the fantastic romantic dramedy Say Anything…. The story, the music, Lloyd Dob
Hey pals, last week’s dirty cop episode got us thinking about other times the Vice team has been forced to investigate one of their own. So this week we decided to air another one of our classic reruns. Waaaaaay back in December 2017 we dove into season 3, episode 21 of Miami Vice titled “Knock, Knock… Who’s There”. We’ll be back next week with “Victims of Circumstance” and ever closer to the end of Vice.

Okay, okay… No one freak out. Yes, we are having a “meh” few episodes of Miami Vice as we near the end of season three. But, that doesn’t mean that’s how Go With The Heat isn’t closing out the season with a bang! This episode revolves around a crooked DEA agent. I know, another dirty cop. The episode does have Izzy, deep music selection and an I.A.D. officer who gets really close to finally nailing Crockett.
John introduces Dominic to Grace Jones and finds a way to work in a meat fondler reference. Dominic professes his love for Bryan Adams and Melissa is REALLY upset no one is thinking of Brian.
Just three episodes left in season three of Miami Vice.

We’ve traveled through time. Its time to go all the way back to season 2 of Miami Vice. This episode had so many things to love and it really felt… Like home. We had action, double crosses, good investigation work and even an appearance from Izzy. So much of this episode of Miami Vice reminded us of classic seasons. What’s not to love? A secret society taking the law into their own hands which is made up of other cops. The conspiracy is so large even the soon-to-be Chief of Police is in on it!
Dominic is concerned for a group of vigilantes that managed by a man who got the idea after being shot in the head. Melissa wonders what if the duo said no? How do they forget what they’ve seen? John wants to protect the good name of Dr. Dingy, Dr. Johnny Dingy.
Its a classic episode you can’t miss!

In news… There is a lot of news to talk about in the month and half between Miami Vice episodes so lets rapid fire a few stories. On March 26 the USSR held its first free elections, selecting Boris Yeltsin. On April 15 96 people died in a FA Cup match later called the Hillsborough Disaster. The on April 19 47 crew members of the USS Iowa died in an explosion in the Number Two gun turret.
The biggest news of this timeframe was the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska. The ship struck the Bligh Reef, spilling 10.8 million gallons of oil into the sound. Duo to its remote location, the spill cover 1,300 miles of coastline and 11,000 square miles of ocean. Numerous oversights led to the disaster including a drunk captain and the senior officer who was supposed to be in charge asleep in his bunk.
In Sports… On March 22 goalie Clint Malarchuk suffered a life threatening injury after two St. Louis Blues players crashed into the net. During the hit a skate from Blues Steve Tuttle cut Malarchuk’s carotid artery. Malarchuk lost 1.5 liters of blood and 300 stitches to patch the 6 inch wound.
In Music… In this time period there are technically five songs that would reach number one on the Hot 100, one of them I will skip until next time. First up is The Living Years by Mike + The Mechanics. This is one of many number one hits from the band who makes constant appearance in Miami Vice.
Up next is The Look by Roxette and rounding out our rapid fire look back is She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals. The last song and the one I’ll spend a little more time talking about is Eternal Flame by The Bangles.
From the album Everything the love song would be a worldwide phenomenon. The Bangles were perfect for the MTV generation and this music video played around the clock throughout 1989.
In Movies… As with music there are four movies that would claim the top spot at the box office during this timeframe. First up is the unnecessary comedy sequel Fletch Lives starring Chevy Chase
We’re back after a week off during the holidays and its straight down to business. Its another artsy-fartsy episode that also includes a dirty cop… You think the Vice team would question anyone’s willing involvement from outside the team as they’ve been burned so many times. I guess they just have a good heart and really, REALLY want to trust people.
This episode has drugs, has art, has buying art with drugs! The team gets double-crossed leaving Sonny to make a middle of the road Florida Gators level tackle.
Dominic wants to spend the whole time talking about Sigmar. Melissa defends Sonny’s lack of art knowledge and John gets another chance to talk about ol’ Slow Hand.
Its a quality episode of Vice and a fantastic episode of your Miami Vice podcast.

Hey pals, with the holidays and kids and family and… Well, you know all the excuses. We took a week off to take a break around the holidays and decided to look back to a CLASSIC RERUN of your favorite Miami Vice podcast. The Cell Within put us into a Tubbs mood and instead of leaving you high and dry without a Go With The Heat podcast this week, we’re bringing back one of our favorite Tubbs episodes in Tale of the Goat. This episode of the podcast came out almost 2 years ago and we have to say its real obvious how much Vice has changed.
This was a fun episode, mostly for Tubbs’ “I’ve been drugged” acting and Santeria hitmen riding dirt bikes.

Voodoo. VOODOO. Tubbs has some bad loas and we have what might be our favorite episode of the season so far. Legba (the villains real name) is out to get revenge and only Tubbs’ cocky attitude and breezy suit can stop him. Right from the get go we fall in love with this episode of Miami Vice… For all the wrong reasons.
Bad lines, awkward scenes and Tubbs getting a case of the Yips make for one of our funniest episodes of Go With The Heat. Melissa couldn’t wait for us to see Tubbs leg cramp acting, John is concerned about people turning into goats and Dominic still hasn’t stopped laughing about “Yips”.

Its a Tubbs-tastic episode of Miami Vice that also includes one of the greatest music guests ever. In this episode Tubbs finds himself locked in the sex dungeon of a psychopath who has made it his personal mission to hold the world accountable for their sins against society. Tubbs is left with little choice but to witness countless horrors all while trying to manipulate Manning to let him go or at least let his guard down.
Dominic feels really bad for Manning's assistant and tells him to go ahead and get revenge. Melissa reminds us that Tubbs took night school and knows his way around an electric chair. John... John is forced to talk about Yanni.

Sonny’s brother Jake swings into… I mean Sonny’s COUSIN… JACK swings into town and brings his reckless ways right into Sonny’s life. Jack is a scammer that gets himself mixed up in the worst possible scenario: Stealing counterfeit money from a cartel and giving to the mob. Then, when it looks like he’s actually going to help Sonny bring down a big-time dealer, he rats out his cousin and puts everyone’s life in danger.
Let’s just say we’re not a big fan of Jack.
Dominic wants to know about Sonny’s recent increase in drinking. Melissa questions how much younger Jack is supposed to be than old-man Crockett. In the music segment John breaks down the “Wu-Tang Clan” of a Capella groups.

Someone is trying to put the SQUEEZE on Castillo and the team is having none of it. But that’s not what we’re focused on. With one of the corniest villains ever in Miami Vice. The Bond knockoff is desperate to find out who stole his drugs and is willing to frame a Congresswoman to force her son to turn them over. The Vice team is hot on his trail but no one suspects Edwina.
We have a lot of fun with this episode, right up until John has to go John Wick on everyone that worked on the show. Melissa is concerned about the attitude of the hospital staff working on Castillo. Dominic is all caught up in Sonny’s therapy sessions and John… John is a little upset at Vice (massive understatement) and loves Edwina.

Sammy, Timmy, Johnny… BILLY! That’s his name! Crockett is forced to spend some time with his son after being MIA for an entire year which leaves Tubbs to fend for himself against the Pedroza family. Unfortunately for Tubbs he’s easily bamboozled by vulnerable women and Maria has him wrapped around her little finger.
You know what this means. It means we’re going to invent a cartel and murder all the players in 47 min. so this situation never comes up again!
Melissa is concerned for little Billy, especially if he’s coming to stay with his former coke-dealer Dad. Dominic is really thrown off by Tubbs’ attire the entire episode, even if he “tenderizes” Maria. John is here to defend Sonny’s brother Jake and his treatment of little Jimmy Venucci.
Its time to get greasy on Miami Vice.

In news… On Feb. 8 while on final approach to Santa Maria Airport in Pico Alto, Portugal Independent Air Flight 1851 crashed killing all 144 on board in the deadliest plane crash in Portugal’s history. A combination of both ground and aircraft crew errors led to the aircraft to crash into Pico Alto Mountain.
In Sports… The NBA announces the Hall of Fame class of 1989. This group includes the Boston Celtics great KC Jones and journeyman Lenny Wilkens. Both Jones and Wilkens led prolific careers as both players and coaches.
In Music… Goodbye Phil, Two Hearts finally gets knocked off the top of the Hot 100 and in-between Collins and Paula Abdul is a true one hit wonder. Sneaking in for just one week is When I’m With You by the arena rock band Sheriff. From their self-titled album the song originally hit the Hot 100 in 1983 but in 1988 found new radio play, years after the band had already broke up. To add to the strangeness of this song, in the era of video killed the radio star, this song was released both in 1982 and 1988 without a music video.
In Movies… Rain Man finally relents at the top of the Box Office and a new film finally takes number one. Starring Nick Nolte and Martin Short is the crime-comedy film Three Fugitives. The film follows one career criminal just released from prison and one desperate father robbing a bank to help his sick daughter. The film performed well, regardless of the poor reviews from critics. But as I mentioned before, critics are a bunch of jerks.

The team is embedded deep in a big time South Beach dealer and the only thing that can mess it up is… Themselves. Not only do they mess up the court case, but they let little Nicky get blown up.
Okay, that was probably pretty harsh. But they are quite bumbling in this episode. In the end, the real villain is killed in a classic case of Vice vigilante justice from a family dispute none of them saw coming, even if it was a train laying on its horn while on fire. One positive note: They actually arrested the drug dealer! Not everyone got killed!
John agrees with Sonny’s position of never letting a hot dog stand get robbed. Melissa wonders how Gina is getting the money for a fancy convertible and that gigantic house. Dominic is quite upset with how the Vice writers handled Gina in this episode. We all wonder how many kilos of drugs they actually have.
Its a must watch episode of Miami Vice and a fantastic episode of the greatest Vice podcast on the planet.

We knew Stan’s troubles would finally be exposed but none of us were ready for this. Stan is in real trouble and not just because someone is trying to kill him. He’s drinking, gambling and in general falling apart. He’s in a bad, bad place. This story might be about the mobsters he owes money to, but its so much deeper than that, exposing all of his problems. Worst of all, by the end nothing is better.
We’re so sad for Stan… But we do have a lot of fun breaking this episode down! Melissa teaches about the “bad news sandwich” Castillo has to give Stan. John is concerned for Holly and wonders who’s gonna eat all that corn. Dominic is in shock after seeing Stan murder a guy.
If only this was rock bottom for Stan.

Not amnesia and not a Castillo story, we actually have a regular episode of Miami Vice! Plus it includes the entire team! Its almost a Christmas miracle. In Asian Cut a serial killer is stalking the streets performing ritualistic murders on prostitutes and the team will stop at nothing to take this killer down. In a noir-style story there’s a huge twist at the end that includes mannequins.
Melissa and Dom feel so, SO bad for Trudy during this investigation. John wonders if hookers have performance reviews and has a serious problem with mannequins.

We’re gonna be totally honest with you, Joey is a problem. This would have been a totally fine episode of Miami Vice and even though its a by-the-numbers dirty FBI officer, its almost good. Joey… Joey is just bad.
Dom is concerned for Crockett’s “its a big ocean” decision when they spend most of their time docked. John doesn’t think someone on the set liked Frosted Flakes (how could you treat Tony the Tiger like this). Melissa, well you know her. She doesn’t like snitches and thinks Joey is pretty soft.

Sonny’s amnesia is gone and now the Vice team can get down to some real work while he’s still hiding out in the glades at an ol’ honky-tonk. Tubbs and Castillo have their eyes set on bringing down someone who stole literal tons of cocaine.
We even get a little hint of Stan’s gambling problem. Melissa spends most of the episode defending Castillo. John gets really upset with Reese digging his fingers into Castillo’s dinner. Dom just can’t see past Dad have two sets of rules for himself and his team and professes his love for Pink Floyd.

Sonny’s amnesia is officially gone and its time to take his hog on the road. After a bumpy IAD hearing that sentences him to a vacation, he goes looking for the first place that serves cheap beer. So far in season 5 each episode has been fantastic. This one… Honestly, this would have been an okay episode if it was just about Sonny grappling with his new life. Instead we get two bad guys who escape prison and do everything they can to get caught.
John gives us the rundown on the music that includes Hank Williams. Dominic thinks sleazoids is an understatement. Melissa can’t get over Scotty being a little bitch.

Its been a loooong time since we had an episode that wasn’t centered around Sonny Crockett. Its been so long that we’ve forgotten Castillo is the best lover on the Vice team. After years of not seeing his one and only love, his now ex-wife, May Sing shows back up on the run from crazed criminals.

Here we are, the end of Sonny Burnett. We all had so much hope for him too. Sonny Burnett was single-handedly the most evil villain in the history of Miami Vice.
Alas, remembering all the times Tubbs told him he loved him and his love for the Vice team brought him back. This is a good episode of Vice that should have been at least one more episode. Dominic is really mad at Bob. Melissa knows how you cure amnesia thanks to decades of TV watching. John isn’t sure who the cow is in Cliff’s story.

Yes. Yes we left you on the season 4 cliffhanger and then took the summer off even after Dominic complained that leaving people on a cliffhanger was evil. But we’re back! Its been four weeks since season 4 of Miami Vice ended and we are so excited to get to the next episode of the Sonny Burnett amnesia story arc. The only downside is it brings us one step closer to the end of the amnesia story.

Its cliptastic! Seriously, this is always one of our favorite things to do, is create these clip shows. You get it all people. When Dominic asked if the Jamaicans where “tallying bananas” in The Big Thaw and when he accused Cowboy Tubbs of being in the Thunder Down Under. Or how about that time Melissa was concerned Crockett was gonna get a dildo in his mouth and wondered why all those dolls didn’t cry out in pain. Plus when John questioned Gina’s pasta choice and described the FBI’s “Penis Crimes Task Force”.

Here we are. This is it. Its finally happening. Since episode one we’ve all been focused on getting to a single point in the story arc that is Miami Vice. We all knew Sonny getting amnesia would be the greatest thing to happen in our TV watching lives and its all happening before us.
And its glorious.
Don’t let season 4 confuse you. Even though we had episodes about cutting off willies and bull semen this episode is amazing. Its been well worth the wait and we all couldn’t be happier.
Dominic and John in shock at the brutality of Sonny. Melissa thinks Tubbs might be a better friend than Sonny could ever be. There’s only one thing left to say…

What year is it? Did we transport to 1984? In this episode of Miami Vice we have two cases of Deja Vu. First, this is the final episode for the evil Frank Mosca & he definitely gets what he deserves. Yes, we’re excited we actually get closure to the story. But, this episode is almost a mirror image of “Give a Little, Take a Little” from season 1.
Yet, we have a ton of fun with this episode that tackles a very serious topic. Dominic is impressed with the use of a forklift as a torture device. John is seriously concerned for the spaghetti factory now that both Cook and Mosca are gone. Melissa has some strong words for the Vice teams judgy-faces. Plus we all learn about the show we desperately want to revive that includes Frank Stallone, Don Swayze and Joey Travolta.
