Zach Calzada went 15–30 for 149 yards before leaving with a shoulder injury, giving way to freshman Cutter Boley, who flashed late but couldn’t finish the comeback. Stoops said, “I think Cutter deserves the opportunity,” fueling talk of a QB change. Offensively, UK managed just two TDs, with six 3-and-outs and under 50% completions for the second straight week. The defense kept UK alive but gave up seven explosive plays, including the backbreaking 4th-and-1 shot Stoops admitted they had practiced.
