The initial massacre by Hamas on Israel on October 7th, 2023 resulted in yet another Israel-Palestine war. The war has resulted in over 23,000 deaths, and a multitude of humanitarian crises. It has sparked a strong, passionate, yet divisive international response. In America, hundreds of protests and demonstrations took place. On college campuses specifically, intense reactions resulted in tense consequences. How has the war affected the Chapman student body specifically? Or its Jewish and Arab communities? How has the university responded and what do students think of it? Mid-September, migrants originally arriving in Texas and Florida started showing up unexpectedly in northern cities like Washington D.C., Chicago and New York City. They were bussed or flown to these locations by taxpayer funded transportation programs from Texas and Florida as a part of a political stunt protesting immigration laws. The response from locals has been generally positive so far: people are provided food, donating winter clothing and giving legal assistance.

As a part of a series with students reflecting on their busy summer projects, Juhi Doshi — a junior broadcast journalism and documentary major — shares her realization that psychology was not meant for her, despite being so involved in it during high school and early college years. She refocused on her true passions of journalism and politics and took steps to pursue them at Chapman. Juhi unfolds what those steps looked like for her: taking writing workshops, sending her work to publications and more. All this hard work in such a short amount of time landed her an internship with CBS over the summer, which continued into the fall semester.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide non-profit intended to spread cancer awareness and raise money for scientists to research a cure. Each year, the organization hosts over 5,000 Relay For Life events, where community members gather for a fundraising walk against cancer.
ACS on Campus is hosting a 24-hour Relay For Life event April 30 through May 1 to fundraise for the organization. In this episode of The Panther Pod, Podcast Editor Shannon Stanton talks with ACS on Campus secretary Kate Sheafor, a sophomore health science major, to learn more about this event. Also featured in this episode are ACS on Campus club members Curran Mcintyre, a junior sociology major, and Sammy Johnson, a sophomore applied human physiology major. Further, students Paige Watanabe, a freshman health science major, and Lauren Delany, a freshman public relations and advertising major share their perspectives about the event.

A rally was held in the Orange Circle Oct. 30, promoting general anti-mask and anti-vaccine sentiments along with other loosely affiliated viewpoints regarding mandates in general. The Panther went down to interview some participants in the protest for their opinions.
