Abraham Warrior for God. Genesis 14
Abraham was a Friend of God who was willing to fight for God and for family. Someone said, "The Christian life is a battleground, not a playground." How True! Abraham certainly understood this and Christians also need to understand this. We need to understand what is truly worth fighting for. Abraham was a courageous man and a wise man. God blessed him in his fight and he won a great victory and set the captives free.
Abraham did not seek a fight, but he found himself in conflict. Christians do not need to ever go looking for a fight, however, sometimes the fight does come to us and we do not need to be afraid to stand up for the Lord.
New Hope Community Church, 3849 FM 1827, McKinney, TX 75071. Dr. Kelly Carr, Pastor
Abraham started on a journey with God. God called him, "Friend." There was something about Abraham that caused God to pass over many people to get to Abraham. It was his "faith."
Even the best of journeys have a few detours, breakdowns, or potholes along the way. They make the trip "memorable." They also complicate the journey.
Abraham had some detours and they were caused by God. They were caused by Abraham. The way we respond in those situations says a lot about us. Will we "double-down" in our mistakes, or will we be willing to own up to them and turn around?
Dr. Kelly Carr, Pastor, New Hope Community Church, 3849 FM 1827, McKinney, TX 75071.
Back to Bethel. Bethel means "The House of God." Abraham strayed away from God. There are times of testing, even for those who are on the journey with God. But how do we get back go to God after we have blown it. Quite often the answer starts with Going back to the House of God.
Abraham went back to the last place he had built an altar of worship to God. He went back to that altar and worshipped the Lord.
There is a way back. I think you will enjoy this message that shows how Abraham, the friend of God, made his way back to God in Genesis 12:9 - Genesis 13:4
Series: Abraham Called to be God's Friend Message 1
Abraham was called "The friend of God." What a great term that many would love to be called. This message focuses on what kind of man Abraham was. What kind of person does God look for as a friend. Can we be God's friend? Does God expect "perfection" in His friends? Thank goodness, no.
What Kind of Man was Abraham?
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
What kind of Man was Abraham that God would call him, "Friend." Would you like for God to call you His Friend? Of course.
Let's learn what kind of Person Abraham was, and how we could also be a person God will call His Friend.

A Friend at Midnight
Luke 11:5-13 A Parable of Jesus about Prayer
Who Can You Call at Midnight, that will Answer?
5 Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him';
7 and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.'
8 "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

The Story of 4 People whose lives were changed forever and why … from Luke 5:1-11. This is a message of encouragement. When we let God do what He wants to do in our lives, amazing things happen.
Peter, Andrew, James, and John
This is another day in the life of Jesus. Everywhere Jesus goes, He invests in people and He changes them, if they are willing. He changes them for the better. Then He enlists them, empowers them, and uses them to change their world for God. He wants to do the same thing with You and Me.
From Peter’s Perspective
Intro. What if God wanted to invite you to be part of amazing adventure. Would you recognize the call? Would it come in a special invitation? Would it be wrapped in gold paper with silver ribbons? How would you respond, especially if it was something you did not expect?
1 Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; 2 and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. 3 And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat.
Christ is teaching people near the shore of Lake Galilee, near Capernaum. Teaching the Word of God, not the Traditions of Men. The audience is vast and pressing in upon Jesus. The place is picturesque. He picked this very spot in all of Israel for this day for a special purpose. It is the hometown of someone He wanted to recruit into an Amazing Life Adventure.
Capernaum was the hometown of Peter the fisherman, and his brother Andrew, and their two boyhood friends, James and John, the sons of Zebedee.
They were all partners in a very lucrative fishing business. The Romans and the Jews in Jerusalem loved the purchase the fish from Galilee and have them delivered fresh. It is evident from the scriptures that there business was doing well because it says that they had multiple boats and they even had hired servants.

As we prepare for National Back to Church Sunday, September 19, 2021, One of the things I wanted to do was to help train my church in how to share the gospel. There are several ways and in this little 10 minute example before the sermon, we gave some basic training in how to actually give away a gospel tract. I enjoy giving something of value to someone that they will be able to refer back to later and perhaps the Holy Spirit will use God's Word to touch their heart and stir their spirit. It may only be a seed, or one of many touches that God uses along the way to bring someone to Christ. A gospel tract is seldom the final thing that brings a person to Christ, but often it is a little burr under the saddle that begins the conviction process for a backslidden Christian or a lost sinner.
I also used this time to teach people how to hand out our generic church invite cards. Every Christian ought to be able to invite people to his or her church. It is not the boldest way to witness. But it is a good way. And in America it is simply common courtesy to invite friends and neighbors to the church where you attend. If you are blessed by your church, then others will be, too. People just need to know that they are welcome and wanted. People like to turn you down, so keep inviting them.

Gospel Tract Ministry, Church Invite Card, #GospelTract, #GospelTractMinistry, #ChurchInviteCard,
Also, I have recently been ordering my tracts from Moments With The Book ministries. They have beautiful 3D cards that people find fun and fascinating. You can find them online at www.MWTB.org I love to give away their American Flag. People love it. Kids of all ages love the 3D Emoji cards. People often smile and then jerk them out of my hands. Sometimes they ask if they can have another one for a friend.
I design my own Church Invite Cards at UPrinting.com and will be happy to send you a copy or a design if you request one. They are easy to design and very cost effective. I order them for special days or events, for special sermon series, and even as generic cards for our members that like to give them away. I design them so I can hand them out or mail them out, and usually mail them to my members and prospects. Handing out #ChurchInviteCards is a skill that today's Christian needs to develop. We are working in a mission field today. People are not just visiting church because it is cultural anymore. We have to invite them. It is also a great skill for a Christian Life Coach. In fact, Faith Based Life Coaches and church staff members should be teaching people in their churches how to give away an invite card.

Fresh Starts are not only nice they're necessary. Jesus is in the Fresh Start Business. In Matthew chapter 9 we read about a day in the life of Jesus. He went about healing the blind and freeing those who were bound. He taught a message that brought life. We get a quick glimpse into Jesus actual motivation for all that He did. I think you will be inspired.
By the way, if you are a Jesus Follower, He expects us to have the same ministry as we follow Him. He Gives Purpose in Life.

Fresh Starts, #FreshStart,
Fresh Starts are extremely appealing. So many times on the playground you hear the children yell, "Do over." Even on the golf course the players call for a "Mulligan."
In Have you ever wished for a "do over," or a "Mulligan?" Have you ever needed a clean slate, a clean bill of health, or for your debts to be erased? Everyone has.
How many soldiers have come back from battle scarred for life? No only with the physical scars, or missing limbs, but sometimes the more difficult emotional scars of what they have seen, heard, and experienced.
Everyday Christians also experienced the debilitating wounds of life, whether from abuse, unemployment, hopeless situations, sickness, cancer, unloving relationships, and more.
I recently heard how much alcoholism and drug abuse has increased since we were first hit by the pandemic last year. And, of course, all of the things that go with it, such as physical abuse, suicide attempts, and more. In fact, suicide attempts and treatment for psychological problems, and anxiety related problems has skyrocketed among our children and adolescents.
In the midst of this crisis, people must be reminded that we have a loving and powerful God who truly cares and powerfully heals.
I hope you will join me Sunday morning when we will discuss a fascinating case of an extremely sick soldier who received a fresh start, free of charge. It is a story that only God could put together. But, because He is God, He does this kind of thing everyday.

Prayer gives ordinary Christians the Power to Change the World. Prayerful People are Powerful People. Don't let anyone tell you different.
James was the Pastor of the First Church, Jerusalem. He was the half-brother of Jesus. He stood strong for the Lord when most others were driven out by persecution or fled in fear. He helped to change the world. He was a man of prayer.
James's nickname was "old camel knees" because of the callouses on his knees from time spent in prayer. He certainly has the authority to speak to us on the power of prayer. When he prayed, God listened, and things happened.
James 5:13-20
"Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance, it is laying hold of His highest willingness." Archbishop Trent.
"The only footprints on the sand of time, that will really last, are the ones made AFTER knee prints." C. W. Renwick.
"More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of" Tennyson.
We just don't pray enough, do we? Someone has said:
No Prayer = No Power
Little Prayer = Little Power
Much Prayer = Much Power
PRAYER gives any Christian the POWER to CHANGE his or her world, and his or her life. Ultimately change the world.
Prayer is not a spare tire, only to be used in emergencies. Too many Christians think of prayer and of God as a spare tire. He is the energy that makes it go and the navigation system that guides us. To neglect prayer is to neglect the greatest power given to us.
Prayer Covers Everything. James 5:13 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises.
Pray when you are Afflicted. When you encounter hardship.
Praise when you are Cheerful. Praise is also a form of prayer. It is also lifting our voices in beautiful music to worship Him. Whether Afflicted or Cheerful we still need to PRAY.
James talks about many aspects of prayer including how to pray for the sick, something so important during these days of COVID.
Prayer Covers Everything. 5:13 God Prescribes Prayer. James 5:14-16
God Promises an Answer. James 5:16
Passion Pumps Up the Volume. James 5:17-18
People Are Priority in Prayer. James 5:19-20
Pray for your Christian Leaders. James needed it. Paul requested it. Contemporary Leaders are dying for it.
Please take this message to heart. Nothing can stand before Christian prayer warriors. God can do more in 5 minutes in response to prayer, than we can do in 5 years of striving.

The Silent Killer [Beware of the Silent Stalker]
James 4:11-17 In 1884 a young man died, and after the funeral his grieving parents decided to establish a memorial to him. With that in mind they met with Charles Eliot, President of Harvard University. Eliot received this unpretentious couple into his office and asked what he could do.
After they expressed their desire to fund a memorial, Eliot impatiently said, “Perhaps you have in mind a scholarship.”
“We were thinking of something more substantial than that … perhaps a building” the woman replied.
In a very patronizing tone, Eliot brushed aside the idea as being too expensive and the coupe departed. The next year, Eliot learned that this very plain and humble couple had gone elsewhere and established a memorial to their son. It was named Leland Stanford Junior University, better know today simply as Stanford. They gave $26 Million dollars! Eliot's Pride cost him a lot.
Pride can cost us a lot. In fact, Pride is a Killer.
Listen to what Solomon had to say about Pride.
The Silent Killer is Pride. Proverbs 16:18; 29:23 18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)
23 A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor. Proverbs 29:23 (NIV)
James talks to us about 2 ways that Pride can kill us in our families, our churches, and our futures, in James 4:11-17
He just finished saying in James 4:6 “God is opposed to the Proud, but gives grace to the humble.” And in James 4:10, “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
Now he will warn them against this dangerous and silent killer called “PRIDE.”
We have PRIDE month. I cringe when I hear it, because I know the sudden and terrible consequences of this sin of pride.
Everyone is susceptible to it’s deceptive nature. The devil used it to try and tempt Jesus. He was well aware of it since it is the thing that brought satan down. Pride was found in his heart.
Pride lives in the heart. That is why it is so dangerous. It can live there and thrive there and the individual may be vaguely aware of its presence, and others around them may know nothing about it.

God Desires Spiritual Victory for Every Son and Daughter. James 4:10 God wants to “exalt you.” Not only is that His desire. It is every Christian’s desire.
Victory is Within our Grasp!
James 4:7-10
Last time we examined the Roots and Results of Spiritual Failure, and the Resources Christians have for Spiritual Victory.
In this message we will learn the 4 Radical Actions we can take for Spiritual Victory.
Illust. About 68 years ago, Sir Edmund Hillary had the first successful climb up Mount Everest with his guide, Tenzing Norgay. On the 50th Anniversary of that historic climb, 50 Everest Climbers gathered for a celebration in San Francisco. 50 People who braved the hights, fought their fears, disciplined their bodies, endured the elements, and conquered Everest.
They Got to the Top!
Our message today is about getting the top. Spiritual Victory for Jesus!

Spiritual Victory Part 2
James 4:7-10
New Hope Community Church July 11, 2021 Dr. Kelly Carr
7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
4 Radical Actions for the Victorious Life James 4:7-10
(You’ll Never Make It to the Top Without These)
4 Actions: Literally COMMANDS, (10 in all, but 4 Summary Commands.)
4 Keys to Victory. They are RADICAL. It takes Radical Actions to get to the TOP. EXTREME ACTIONS. You must be willing to do what others are not willing to do.
People do not accidentally get to the Top of Mount Everest.
People do not Accidentally get to the Olympics, and Win!
These are both Decisive Actions and Daily Actions.
Decisive – Initial, Extreme Decision.
Daily – Action.
Illust. Like Marriage: Decisive Action. You had to make a Decision. You also need to make a Daily Decision. You still want to be Married.
Each Action Contains a Promise. That’s Good! We Need the Assurance.
God knows these things are tough, so He sweetens the deal with a Promise.
But, Here’s the Catch. If you do not take the action, you do not get the promise.
Action #1 Submit to God’s Will James 4:7

God Desires Spiritual Victory for Every Son and Daughter. James 4:10 He wants to “exalt you.” Not only is that His desire. It is every Christian’s desire.
God puts a desire for that same spiritual victory into every heart. The moment you were saved. You received a new “nature,” a new “self”
We have a God-given desire to ascend. To be the Best. To Know God.
We are made in God’s image. But we want to be careful of trying to achieve this the wrong way.
So why do so many of us experience spiritual failure? And how can we begin to experience the victory He desires?
Spiritual Victory Part 1
James 4:1-6
The Roots of Spiritual Failure 4:1-2
The Results of Spiritual Failure 4:2-4
The Resources for Spiritual Victory 4:5-6
We must identify the root causes. Be honest about the wrong results. And take hold of our spiritual resources.

James describes these two sources of wisdom and how to build a life worth living on God's Wisdom. The Wise man built his house on the Rock, and the wise person today still builds his or her life on the rock of God's Word.

James 3:1-12 Tongue Transplant Needed, Part 2
Perhaps nothing has more potential for good than our tongues. And nothing we possess has more potential for evil and causing harm than our tongues.
James talks about the Power of the Tongue in the Book of James chapter 3 verses 1-12. He gives 6 differerent comparisons or illustrations for the tongue, from a rudder of a ship to a slimy serpent.
Christian leaders must be very careful to harness our speech so that we use it for good and God's glory and not for harm. Excellent for the Life Coaching. The Faith Based Life Coach must be able to control his or her tongue and also be able to to coach others in controlling their speech.
Listen and then forward it to a friend.

Joshua 1:1-9 Be Strong and Courageous.
We have never been in need of courageous leadership, leaders with Christian convictions, leaders with the courage to follow through on Christian principles, than today.
As each of us begins our journey through life, as each of us begins our journey of following Christ, as each of us continues on our journey to follow the Lord, we need continuing courage and growing courage. The enemies do not get smaller, the trials do not get easier, the dangers of following the Lord do not get safer. We need courage to follow the Lord fully.
Sometimes God asks us to do something far beyond our means and abilities. Assume leadership, take on a demanding assignment, project, or job. It is easy to feel underqualified and overwhelmed. It requires new courage.
The Christian life is not for cowards. It is full adventures and dangers.
We need Courage for anything important in our lives. Every act of obedience requires courage.
It’s all right to be cautious—but even a turtle never gets anywhere until he sticks his head out.
Be Strong and Courageous. The Call to Courage
“Be strong and courageous!” Four Times in this Chapter Joshua is told to “Be Strong and Courageous!” He needed to hear it. He will need courage and His people will need His courage. We need #courage too.
Phrase repeated 1:6, 7, 9, 18
Joshua 1:9
9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
But From Where does Courage Arise?
At least 3 Clues in Joshua chapter 1. Here is the first clue ...
Dr. Kelly Carr, Pastor, New Hope Community Church, 3849 FM 1827, McKinney, TX 75071,
God Loves YOU Very Much!
DYNAMIC Faith!
Dynamic means forceful or powerful. It can also mean changing. Dynamic power is power that changes and transforms.
Many people are looking for something that will make a real difference in their lives. People are looking for answers that will truly make a change in their lives.
So many people today feel Burned Out and Exhausted. What we need is something from God that will make a true and lasting difference in our lives.
James talks to us about something authentic that has the power to change our lives and has worked for thousands of years.
See what James says about "DYNAMIC Faith."
James 2:20-26
20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.
24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. (NASB)
Dynamic Faith is the third type of Faith James mentions in chapter 2.
3rd Type of Faith is Divine / Demonstrative Faith James 2:20-26
It is Genuine Faith. Real Faith Acts on what it claims to Believe.
There is evidence to support the claims that Faith makes. James calls that evidence, works. Works do not produce faith. Faith produces works. Works demonstrate that the faith we claim to have is really real.
James brings 2 illustrations from the Old Testament that everyone in his audience would be very familiar with. They were 2 very different people with 2 very different resumes. One is a man, one is a woman. One was the father of faith, the other came by it as an outsider. One is Abraham. The other is Rahab. Both possessed a Dynamic Faith that changed them and was visible and demonstrable to others.

Deadly Faith!
Those two words, "deadly" and "faith" do not seem to go together. However, James tells us that not ALL faith is good faith. In fact, some types of faith are actually deadly.
Real Faith is supposed to produce life. Real faith is supposed to produce obedience. Real faith is supposed to produce fruit. Real faith is supposed to produce change. So, by those criteria, we have to ask ourselves ... "Is Our Faith Real?"
See what James says about "Deadly Faith."
James 2:14-19
Three Types of Faith
Two Types of Deadly Faith
1st Dead Faith James 2:14-17
“Everybody talkin’ ‘bout Heaven ain’t goin’ there.”
James 2:14-19 14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
18 But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

She is remembered as "The Ambitious Mom" and she often receives a bad rap for the bold request she made of Jesus. She traveled with Jesus and the disciples and may even have been related to Jesus' family. So maybe she thought she had an inside track in asking for this special blessing. The other disciples were upset by her request and Jesus even questioned her about it. However, what may have been a bold and ambitious request seems to have come from a very devoted disciple and loving mom.
Her name was Salome, and she may have been Jesus' aunt. She asked if her sons, James and John could be seated on Jesus' right and left when He set up His Kingdom. Considering all of the other saints in the Old Testament and New Testament and since then, it seems a bit ambitious to all of us. But she cared about her boys.
Maybe there is something we can all learn from Salome's request. Join us on Sunday morning as we examine, "The Ambitious Mom."
Matthew 20:20-21
20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him. 21 And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left." (NASB)

Religion has to do with the outward observance of our faith. However, James makes a distinction between "good" religion and "bad" religion. He lived in Jerusalem and had a front row seat of the most religious people of his day. He had literally seen religion at its purest and best and at its lowest and worst. What amazes me is that even though he had seen the worst, he did not merely give up and quit practicing religion, altogether.
This week, James gives us some wise instruction about "religion." And he gives us 3 acid tests of what is "good."
Some people wrongly think that "no religion is better than bad religion" and so they just give up on going to church altogether. That is not the advice of James. I think you will be both surprised and pleased with what he says.
James 1:26-27
26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
Here is the first test, but you will have to listen to the message to hear the rest.
Test #1 Pure Religion Keeps the Tongue on a Short Leash. (Wouldn't the world be a much more pleasant place if everyone did this?)
What does James have in mind? Let’s be specific…
Foul Language
Lying
Gossip
Critical and Condemning Speech
Tactless Speech
Sins of the Tongue Start in the Heart. Luke 6:45
45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
Question: How well did you do on the first acid test?

This is a great session for the Christian Life Coach to refer to the person who wants to avoid religion in life. It is also good practical life coaching applications for our speech, the importance of helping others in need, and the importance and personal responsibility of each person to "guard his or her heart."
Ever wish you had listened better? Maybe when the teacher told everyone to put their books away for the big test? Maybe when your date showed up at the front door? Maybe when they gave the deadline for dropping the class?
There are many reasons for listening. There is great POWER in listening. In fact, listening saves lives.
This week James gives us wise instruction on how to listen, and what to listen to, and how to respond in a way that makes things better, not worse.
His words apply whether you are a Fortune 500 CEO, a manger, a husband, a wife, a student, or if you just like getting your order right at Whataburger.
Excellent for any, Christian Life Coach.
James 1:19-25
19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
James gives the 3 Be's of Getting Along with People
1st Be Quick to Hear / Listen.
2nd Be Slow to Speak
3rd Be Slow to Anger
So many practical bits of wisdom and relationship skills in this brief passage.

Temptation is something that everyone can relate to. Both Christians and non-Christians face temptation. In James 1:13-18, Pastor James talks to his flock about what temptation is, where it comes from, and what happens to us and in us when we give in to it.
James discusses the source of temptation. Some people actually wanted to blame God for their temptation, but God is not to blame.
James also discusses the terrifying sequence of giving in to temptation. We abbreviate it as L.S.D. Lust, Sin, and Death. This message actually describes and defines the 3 different types of Death listed in the New Testament.
We also discusses the Steps to Victory over Temptation. God has outlines some very specific things Christians can do to overcome temptation when it knocks on your door.

Remember, God Loves You Very Much!
In Prosperity and Adversity. How many times has a Minister uttered those words to a naive couple during a wedding ceremony. Yet these words involve two of the greatest tests of life. Christians are tested in the area of adversity, often in financial adversity. Many can relate to this test and God's faithfulness during these times of adversity. There is also a test of prosperity. Many Christians seem ill equipped to handle the tests of prosperity. Can you be faithful to Christ in both circumstances.
James discusses these two tests that he knew his congregation would be facing as they were literally being sown into the gentile world around theme.
Can you pass the test in the Crucible of Adversity?
Can you pass the test in the Crucible of Advantage?
James 1:9-12 (NASB)
9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;
10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.
11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.
12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
James says there is a "crown" for all who can stand the tests.

This morning we want to talk about The Cross of The Christ. The Cross is the central symbol of Christianity. Why is it such an important symbol. How did Jesus Christ transform this instrument of torture and pain into a symbol of life and victory?
There is no Christianity without the Cross. There is no Gospel without the Cross. It is central to our message and to our identity as Christians.
Matthew 27:26-46
We will examine the why the Cross was so essential to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and why Christians must never be ashamed of it.
We will look at ...
and at who was responsible for the Cross from an earthly perspective.

James has the heart of a shepherd and he is writing to a flock that has been scattered due to persecution. He knows that they have faced difficult times already and they will be facing more trials as they adjust to new and unfamiliar environments. Rather than focusing on the pain, James encourages them to focus on the positive benefits of their trials. God is at work.
Like a Good Coach, James, helps his people to look beyond the temporary pain to the very real and authentic benefits of their trials and suffering. James emerges as a first century, Christian Life Coach, for tough transitional times.

4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (NASB)
How do Christians Make it Through Tough Times?
Pastor James gives them 3 Strategies that Really Work…
1st By Having a Positive Attitude. 1:2 Joy
2nd By Using the Spiritual Resources God has given them. 1:3
3rd By Focusing on God’s Purpose in Trials 1:4
Though written almost 2,000 years ago on another continent, the wisdom of James's words ring true for every Christian today. He was no ivory tower theologian. He was constantly persecuted for his beliefs and eventually died as a first century Christian martyr. His positive message is a motivator for anyone who is going through trials to consider faith in Christ who gives strength and purpose.
Let James' simple and transformational message take root in your thinking. The positive benefits over the course of your life will be immense. You will become a source of positive encouragement and blessing to others.
This is a message that every Christian Life Coach can learn from and pass on to their clients.
Does Anyone here need Wisdom today? We all do. James tells us How to Make Wise Decisions in life. James audience had to flee for their lives under the real threat of persecution. They are facing many difficulties and trials that will require godly wisdom. #James 1:5-8 tells them and us how to find real wisdom for all of life's situations.
James 1:5-8
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,
8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Imagine that you have to cross a very wide field and it is covered with landmines. But supposed someone gave you a map that revealed the location of each landmine. You would be able to avoid them. If there happened to be a section where you could not avoid the landmines, you could at least prepare and overcome them. The wise person would use that information well. Or imagine if you knew where all the prizes were located. You could also use that information to your advantage.
James tells us that God can give us precise and godly wisdom for every situation in life. God is generous with His wisdom where His children are involved.
Earthly Dilemmas Require Heavenly Wisdom / Solutions.
We All Need Wisdom for Life’s Problems. 1:5
cf. 1 Kings 3:5, 9ff

One of the first, if not the first, epistle written in the New Testament is the Book of James. When we understand the times, and the identity of the author, we can get a very clear picture of why this book was written to these earliest Christians. But this message is as contemporary as today's newspaper. This book is the most practical book of the New Testament, written by a prominent person in the early church, #James. #BookofJames,
James’ Position in the Church
Matthew 13:55-56 (NASB)
55“Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
56“And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”
Galatians 1:19 (NASB)
19But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.
He was present at Pentecost. Acts 1:13,14
He apparently became Pastor of the church in Jerusalem. Acts 15
8. He was martyred in 62 AD.
James was not a believer during the earthly ministry of Jesus. Although he loved his big brother, He was not a disciples. It was not until after the resurrection that James becomes a Christian. 1 Corinthians 15 tells us that Jesus appeared to James after the resurrection and James was saved.
James was a Christian, not because he was was Jesus' half brother, but because he put his faith in Jesus. That is how all of us are related to Jesus, by faith.

Winning With Your Super Friends!
Romans 12:3-8, Ephesians 4:1-16
Definition: A Spiritual Gift is a “Supernatural” ability (SuperPower), given by the Holy Spirit to Every believer at their Conversion, to be used to minister to Others and therefore build up the Body of Christ, the Church.
Superman has a Team called “Super Friends.”
God has a TEAM called “The Church.”
Read the Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-12, 15-16 & Romans 12:3-5
Insert the word “TEAM” for “body.” Or “Church Family” for “body.”
We like “Dirty Harry,” “Rambo,” and “Die-Hard.” We like the Rugged Individualist who wins against all odds. America was founded by people who had a high value on Rugged Individualism. We wanted Freedom. However, when it comes to church and spiritual life, and most of life in general, we need to belong to a team to really make a difference for God.
We work best as a team when …
3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit. Ephesians 4:3
16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:16

The Series: Finding Your SuperPower! #3, The SuperPower Survey (Spiritual Gifts) based on Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, & Ephesians 4. While Spiritual Gifts do have a huge impact on and benefit for the individual believer, Spiritual Gifts are not for My benefit, but for Others.
Spiritual Gifts also produce growth in the church and maturity in the church family.
The Best way for you to discover your spiritual gift is by using it. Really, by trial and error. In other words, when there is a need, serve. You will soon discover what God has gifted you to do, and what He has not gifted you to do.
We encourage each person to download, read, study, and follow the instructions on the Spiritual Gifts Self Survey. Ask those who know you well, and spiritual leaders in your church, what gifts you think you may have. Put them to use. God invested them into you so you can invest them into others.

Series: Finding Your…SuperPower! Message 1 God's Amazing SuperPowers
Many of us grew up watching superheroes at the movies, on TV, or reading about them in comic books. In fact, many people have a secret desire to actually “be” a superhero. Every superhero story has the point in the story where the “normal” person actually discovers their superpower. Then they have to learn the limits of their new powers and how to put them to work. It is usually a trial and error process with a lot of mistakes and it is always a work in progress.
Many times we have longed for some amazing superpower because of what it could do for us personally. However, superpowers are usually given for the purpose of helping others. In fact, the characters that use their superpowers strictly for themselves are usually known as super villains. None of us wants to be that.
The fact is that you DO have a superpower. God has given every believer a superpower to help yourself and others. It is called a “spiritual gift.” It is truly a supernatural gift of immense value and one that can be an enormous blessing to you, your family, your church, and your world, but only if you can discover it and begin to channel it in the right way.
In this study we will examine questions such as… “What are the spiritual gifts?” “How can I discover my own spiritual gift?” “How can I begin to use my spiritual gift?” “Can my spiritual gift be improved?” “Can I have more than one spiritual gift?”
I hope you will enjoy this brief discussion, and that you will find, activate, develop, and use your “SuperPower” for the ultimate glory of God.
God has given every believer a superpower, to help yourself and others. It is called a Spiritual Gift.
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10
What is Your “SuperPower” (Spiritual Gift)?
Three Primary NT Passages which discuss Spiritual Gifts, Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. All written by the Apostle Paul. The passage we are referring to today was written by Peter. However, Peter acknowledges 5 essential truths about spiritual gifts in 1 Peter 4:10-11.
1st “each one has received” Every Christian has a Spiritual Gift. No exceptions.
The implications is that you received it at the moment you were born again.

The Greatest Gift of Christmas.
What is the best gift you ever received for #Christmas ? A B-B Gun, a Barbie Doll, A computer, a Game System, a puppy?
The greatest gift of all time is the One that God sent 2,000 years ago, in the form of a little baby, wrapped up in love, and delivered in the envelope of Mary.
John 3:16 says,"For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that Whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life."
But WHY did God send His Son, Jesus to this earth?
In this message, Kelly Carr, will list 3 reasons which the Bible says that Jesus came to earth, 3 Reasons for Christmas. I think you will be encouraged to know why He was sent.

You Shall Call His Name, Emmanuelle which means God With Us.
Old Job who suffered so much, lamented that there was no "daysman" or "umpire" to stand in the gap between God and man and bring us together. He sought for Someone who he could go and plead his case to, and Someone who could plead his case before God. This was his prayer 1,800 years before Christ.
The angel told Joseph that Mary's miracle Baby would be called Emmanuelle, God With Us. This was exactly what the prophet Isaiah wrote 700 years earlier in Isaiah 7:14, that the Messiah would be born of a virgin and would be called Emmanuelle, God with us.
In order to be both God and man, Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary.
The fact that He is #Emmanuelle , means that we can face any adversity, stand up to any challenge, and endure any suffering. He is With Us!
This is an Encouraging Truth about Christmas. Whatever else Christmas may mean to you, it means that God is With Us! Right Now! In our Adversity! To Help Us! and as a Savior, to Save Us!

Matthew 1:20-25, Isaiah 7:14
God Loves You Very Much!
The message of Christmas did not change Herod, who tried to murder the Christ, and it did not change the Scribes of Jerusalem who did not even care enough to go to follow the lead of the Wise Men and go to Bethlehem.
But when the Angels reported the birth of Christ to the Shepherds, they simply went to see if it was true.
These were the shepherds in the fields near Bethlehem, just outside of Jerusalem, who were probably responsible for keeping the flock of sheep that was used for the temple sacrifices.
The “Good News” of Jesus’ birth changed the shepherds forever.
But can that same good news still change lives today?
These shepherds were changed because of their response to the good news. Their positive response to the message of Christ gave them something that no one could ever steal from them.
4 Changes Anyone Can Make Because Jesus was Born:
11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
15 …Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see… Luke 2:15
To their credit, the shepherds did not just take the word of the angels. They said, “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about” (2:15). They investigated to see if it was really true. They were rewarded for investigating. “So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger” (2:16). You don’t have to see an angel to be convinced.
The Shepherds were Convinced by the Evidence that Jesus was the Christ.
They heard the message. They investigated for themselves. They saw the baby. They believed the prophecies. The shepherds were convinced. And they were confident. Millions upon millions of highly educated, sane, people have been convinced that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. And you can be confident, too.

Stealing Christmas
People have been trying to “steal” Christmas since the very beginning. Villains both ancient and modern have tried to stop Christmas from happening or steal its lifegiving message. However, no matter what tactics are used, Christmas can never be stolen and its message cannot be silenced. Come with us as we learn the incredible value of Christmas and celebrate the blessing of our Savior’s birth.
The Villain of Christmas Matthew 2:1-18
Herod was a first century politician. He was called the King of the Jews. When the Wise Men came asking for the One who had been born King of the Jews, it set him on edge. He did not want to share that title with anyone. This is a story of 2 Kings with different destinies and two different philosophies. This message looks at the original villain of Christmas.

Ruth had a Mind of Her Own!
Ruth1:6-22
Ruth is a beautiful book. It speaks so eloquently of the grace of God.
In Ruth, I see a person with no spiritual advantages in life who is mightily used by God.
She is special, because she is normal. She is one of us. Ruth has no superpowers, she has no amazing talents, she has no exceptional gifts, but she changed the world. Ruth did what any one of us can do, she made a choice.
Not anybody can be a Samson, or David, or an Elijah, or a Paul. But ANYONE can be a Ruth.
Anyone can become a Ruth.

The Book of Ruth is one of the greatest short stories in world literature. It has all the elements that make a good story, drama, sadness, joy, cute-meet, providence, great characters, and significance that goes beyond the story. And, it is a love story. Ruth reveals God's love for a Prodigal Family, God's love for a Pagan Girl, Ruth's love for Naomi, her mother in law, Boaz's love for Ruth, and it is a picture of Christ's love for the Church.
Chapter 1 discusses a Prodigal Family and how some severe trials came into their lives first through famine, then bad decisions, then through death of loved ones in a foreign land. It shows how a good decision can make all the difference.
Many people today are going through personal "famines." 2020 has been a crazy year with many trials. No one is unaffected by the pandemic, the social distancing, the lockdown, the quarantine, the economy, the divided country, divisive elections, and so much more. This story will give hope and renewal to every heart.

What Will Jesus Do When He Returns?
The Bible is clear in teaching that Jesus could come at any moment. He may come today. O what a joyous event that would be for so many Christians.
Glorified Body, Eradication of the sin nature, Reunion with Christian loved ones, Rewards to receive.
O what a Horrible event it would be for you if you’re lost. Perhaps you are the only member of your family who doesn’t know Christ. Parents, Grandparents, Brothers, Sisters, But not you. You are left behind. You don’t go to receive a reward,. You stay behind to face the terrors of the Great Tribulation, and ultimately, the Great White Throne Judgment before Jesus Christ, Himself, who you Rejected!
He has died to Redeem you.
He still says to you, “He that comes to Me, I will in no wise cast out.”
“Behold I stand at the door and knock, If any man, will hear my voice and open the door I will come in.”
God is Good! He wants to Bless people. The question is "Are we Blessable?"
What is Your B. Q.? Your Blessability Quotient. And what is your Faith Quotient?
God blesses us in various ways, but in many specific areas, He asks us to do something before we are blessed. That also requires faith on our part.
Jesus talked to His disciples in Luke 6:38 about the Blessings He wants to pour down upon us, but first He asks us to do something He was also willing to do, give.
Listen to this incredible message that tells every person, how to receive the blessings that God wants to give His children, and that He has in abundance just waiting to release. We hope this message will be a blessing to you and that it will be the beginning of a Lifetime of Blessings.
Getting a God-Sized Blessing Luke 6:38

Questions Concerning Death and the After Life. What does the Bible Say?
9 Specific Questions I have been asked many times about what happens to the human soul after death. Such as:
There are Scriptures applied from both the Old and New Testaments.
I Hope this is helpful, and comforting to those experiencing grief.
The Journey of the Soul, Luke 16:19-31
We will examine, the journey of the soul after death for both the Unrighteous and the Righteous, and some Related Questions.
Are people with God or not with God after they die? Does the soul sleep or are we alive and conscious? Are we in a state of punishment or reward? Do our souls all go to a specific place? Is there a difference between where people go and what is the deciding factor?
Jesus had a lot to say about this subject. He told a story that describes the future journey of the soul in Luke chapter 16.
Feel free to give a comment or ask a question.

Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names. 2 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. 3 I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; 4 they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?" America in the End Times
Psalms 33:10-22
What is the Role of the United States in Prophecy?
Is the United States Mentioned in Bible Prophecy?
The Simple Answer is NO.
We are not mentioned as a “nation.”
There is no direct connection to the United States in prophecy.
Why not?
God did something special with America. I believe in American Exceptionalism.
Discovered by Columbus who believed God directed him here.
The first settlement that was successful was founded by Pilgrims. Separatist Christians. 1620 They came seeking a place to practice their Christian religion without persecution, or worldly influences. They went from England to Holland to escape persecution, then back due to worldly influences, and came to the New World.
Then came the Puritans, 1630.
Founded by Christians on Judeo-Christian values. To provide a safe and fertile place for the gospel to thrive.
They founded Christian Colleges to train ministers for the propagation of the gospel.
“After God had carried us safe to New-England, and wee had builded our houses, provided necessaries for our livelihood, rear'd convenient places for Gods worship, and setled the Civill Government: One of the next things we longed for, and looked after was to advance Learning and perpetuate it to Posterity; dreading to leave an illiterate Ministery to the Churches, when our present Ministers shall lie in the Dust. And as we were thinking and consulting how to effect this great work, it pleased God to stir up the heart of one Mr. Harvard (a godly gentleman and a lover of learning; then living amongst us) to give one-half of his estate (it being in all about £1,700) towards the erecting of a Colledge, and all his library. After him, another gave £300; others after them cast in more; and the public hand of the State added the rest. The Colledge was by common consent appointed to be at Cambridge (a place very pleasant and accommodate), and is called (according to the name of the first founder) Harvard Colledge.” From the book, New England’s First Fruits, published 1643.
With some 17,000 Puritans migrating to New England by 1636, Harvard was founded in anticipation of the need for training clergy for the new commonwealth, a "church in the wilderness". Harvard was established in 1636 by vote of the Great and General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Then one Christian College after another for decades. Harvard, William and Mary, Yale, Princeton University, Brown University, Rutgers University, Dartmouth University. All founded before the Revolutionary War.
The Declaration of Independence. 1776 Endowed by our CREATOR.
The Revolution. 1776-1783
The Constitution. 1789
The Bill of Rights. 1791. I believe we should have a National Bill of Rights History Month in our country every year. This has made our nation different, exceptional, the pinnacle of liberty, the envy of freedom loving, and freedom longing people around the globe.
God knew that the Gospel would need a place like America.
God knew that Israel would need a friend.
God still has a plan for Israel. Romans 11:18-27
Genesis 12:2-3 (NASB) God’s Promise to Abraham 2 And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; 3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
God knew that Repressed and Persecuted People around the globe would need a refuge.
God has used America to Bless the World.
Yet, no nation, no people, no group is promised unending blessing in spite of unrighteousness.
No nation is promised unconditional perpetual blessing.
Jeremiah 18:7-10 (NASB)
7 "At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;
8 if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.
9 "Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;
10 if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.
America, the American dream, and the American way of life is in imminent danger.
6 Dangers We Face:
America’s Only Hope is Revival!
What are the scenarios for America in the End Times?
4 End Times Scenarios for America:
First 3 are scenarios before the Rapture.
The Fourth or Last Scenario happens after the Rapture.
Make no mistake. The Enemies of Freedom, are Enemies of the Gospel.
The Enemies of Freedom, whether they are groups in this country, or governments and groups outside of this country, that are enemies of personal and religious freedom are Enemies of the Gospel. The Gospel will thrive in a free society. False philosophies, and False Religions will lose in the free market of ideas. They cannot begin to compete and they know it.
Jesus said it so beautifully, John 8:32
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." John 8:32 (NASB)
Pray that we are able to remain a free society.

Will Jesus Return in 2020? Matthew 24:32-44
42 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 "But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. (NASB)
Questions: 1. If you knew for certain that Jesus would return before December 31, 2020 AD what difference would it make? In YOUR LIFE?
Yes! There is no prophecy that must be fulfilled prior to His Return.
Do people SCOFF when we talk about Jesus Return? Yes! Read 2 Peter 2:3-4
2 Peter 3:3-4 (NASB) 3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."
Does the fact that unbelievers SCOFF make it less real? NO!
What people? Which People SCOFF? The same people who scoff at the idea that
That they need to be saved.
Why even ask this question?
He does not make meaningless promises. 2 Peter 3:8-9
2 Peter 3:8-9 (NASB) 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Jonah was a Runner! He spends a lot of time in the story that bears his name, running. In chapter 1 He is running AWAY from God's Will. Why would anyone do that. Running away from a Loving and Wise God does not sound like a good idea. How did it work out for Jonah? Not very well.

Perhaps the Most Revolutionary Proclamations of All Time!
The Resurrection is often lumped in with the Rapture, but it is a distinct event.
Because the Resurrection of Christians and the Rapture are so closely intertwined, they can be lumped together and we can easily forget that they are truly separate events. The word, “Rapture” refers to the return of Christ for His saints. However, it is also used as an “umbrella term” for several things which happen almost simultaneously, Christ’s return for His church, the resurrection, the transformation, the reuniting, and the rapture or catching away of the church, back up to Heaven with Christ. It is similar to a rapid moving rescue mission.
The Resurrection of those who have died in Christ is a very distinct part of that rescue mission.
What kind of Body? 1 Cor. 15:35-58 * NOT a Resuscitation, like Lazarus. That and others in the Old and New Testament were mere illustrations of God’s Power to impart life. * Not a Reconstruction. 1 Corinthians 15:35-58 A Spiritual Body. Heavenly Body. More Grand. Made from New Material. * But Not a Completely Different Person. Still the Same Person. * Fit for Eternity.

Even though Jonah was reluctant answer God's call to go to Nineveh and deliver God's message, when he went, God displayed His power in an incredible way. There was a tremendous response to Jonah's message that affected everyone from the palace to the peasant. It was something so significant that Jesus referred to it during His own ministry.
God's power is also available to all believers today. This message examines 4 Power Principles which are seen in this amazing chapter of Jonah.

Jonah: Prodigal Prophet
Jonah had “hang-ups.” He loved God and he loved his nation, but he was extremely prejudiced. His name is forever associated with supernatural deliverance. He was a courageous and gifted preacher but ran from God. God used him to start a revival with international repercussions, but he did not approve. He was an evangelist with issues, but God did not give up on Him. Jonah is like many of us, but God used him in spite of his “hang-ups” and helped him overcome them.

The Unique Birth of Christmas Four Thoughts about the Unique Virgin Birth of Christ
Luke 1:26-35
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
29 But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
The Unique Timing of Christmas
A look at History to see that Jesus birth came at the perfect time for all mankind.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 4:4-5 that Jesus' birth came at the right time. 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
He was born "in the fullness of time."
Jesus Came Just in Time for the World. . Because God is Concerned about this Whole World.
It was the Right Time Politically. Augustus was on the throne of Rome. The Pax Romana, the Roman Peace was in place which gave peace around the world. Even though it was an enforced peace, it gave the opportunity for Christ to be born without conflict between Rome and Israel. It was the Right Time Economically. People were in poverty. Many were in slavery. Jesus' family was poor also. But the Roman Caesar decided he needed more money so he called for all of the Roman world to be taxed. This is what brought Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. It was the Right Time Morally. The world was at an all time moral low. It was the Right Time Spiritually. Idolatry was around the world, however, in the Roman world most people had come to realize that the Roman gods and Greek gods were not real. Yet people long for spiritual reason. They long to know God. Their was a pervasive feeling that a Messiah would arise. It was the Right Time Prophetically. Not only did people believe a Messiah would arise, the Old Testament prophets predicted the Jewish Messiah. Isaiah predicted 700 years earlier that Jesus would be born of a virgin. Daniel had precisely predicted that the Messiah would be presented to the nation of Israel and be "cut off" during the lifetime of Jesus.
Jesus came at the right time in history, but also at the right time for individual people.
