Guest speaker Bryce Reed preaches on how we can find solace in God when life can be filled with storms and trials.

View Details

We all get shaken up in life from time to time, but how do we avoid getting derailed when it happens? We will find the answer by looking back at the early church. In Acts Chapter 4, we see that Peter and John face opposition from the Temple Leaders. They recognize that God is the ultimate judge, they speak of what they have seen and heard, and they get around other Jesus followers. By doing these things, they are able to handle the pressure of the situation and although they were shaken, they were not stirred. If we do the same, and we anchor our faith in Jesus, we too can weather the storms of life and can be a witness for Him.

We’re called to deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Jesus.

When we think of heroes, we often have a vision of someone with superpowers saving the world from destruction. But what if we can all be heroes? It seems unlikely but, with God, it is true. We will look at the example of Moses. We will see that he comes up with a number of excuses as to why he can’t be a hero; why he can’t do what God is asking of him. But God has answers for all of Moses’ excuses and what we find is that while he did not have the position, the power, the skills, or the words to be a hero, none of that was an obstacle for God. We all probably have the same excuses as Moses, and God has the same responses for us. We can all be unlikely heroes and can be used by God to do remarkable things in 2024. All we have to do is be willing to step up and step in.

After finding the right place to pray, we start by addressing God as our Heavenly Father, and then acknowledging who He is. We then dedicate our lives to His ways, and then petition for provision, pardon, and protection. One that is built on rock survives the storm and one that is built on sand does not. Jesus likens this to how we build our lives. We discover that if we build our life on foundations other that God, we will not fare well in the storms of life, and we can also jeopardize our future legacy. We will discover how we can protect ourselves by making some decisions now that will strengthen our foundations in the present and the future.

Two of them were walking along a road when they were joined by a strange man. They didn’t know who he was, but he talked in a way they had not heard before. At the end of the journey, he took, blessed, broke, and gave bread and at that moment they realized they were in the presence of the risen Jesus. Deep down, we all ask the question, “how can I live life to the full?” The answer is not getting more stuff, the right job, the right friends, or just having things go our way. In what at the outset seems like a strange story about sheep and shepherds, Jesus gives us the answer to our question – Life to the full comes when we’re living our life with Him at the center. He tells us that He is the Good Shepherd, that we should recognize His voice, that He will protect us and direct us, and that He lays down His life for us. We are going to look at the story He tells and how He calls us into a fresh relationship with Him. By looking at three scenes from the life of Jesus, we discover three ways to share our faith. One is by using what we have - what God has gifted us with. The second is to invite people to church – to ask if they would like to join us one Sunday or watch a service online. The third is to share our story – to talk to people about what God has done in our life. When we do these things, we’re not only being used by God to share the transformative power of Jesus, but our lives are transformed as we become more and more fully devoted followers of Him.

Have you ever wondered how best to share your faith journey with other people? Have you ever felt overwhelmed with all you have to do in life? If you answer “yes” to either of these questions, then this message is for you. As we study the passage, we discover some valuable life lessons – how to live in harmony with other people and how to grow in our faith by being in community with other believers – and it all starts by us lifting our hands to God.

Exodus 16

View Details

As we study Chapter 15 of the Book of Exodus, we see that having been rescued by the parting of the Red Sea from the advancing Egyptian army, Moses and the Israelites worship God in song; the first song found in the Bible. But then as they continue their journey in the wilderness and find themselves without water. They start complaining and blame Moses and God. Overall, the trust of the Israelites in God’s providence for them is dependent on their circumstances and how they feel. We can end up being the same, our mood determining our faith. This passage teaches us about the heart of worship and also serves as a warning to us not to allow our mood to determine our faith in God’s provision in our lives.

What are they to do? In this message, we look at Exodus Chapter 13 and see the miraculous parting of the Red Sea – allowing the Israelites to escape from Pharoah and his army which then themselves get destroyed by the water. When the situation seemed impossible, God came through for the Israelites. He will do the same for us. In the heat of the trouble, when we see no way out, we need to remember that God is in control, and, however hard it might seem, we simply have to trust Him.

In this message we will look at Moses encounter with God as depicted in Exodus Chapter 3. When God is about to rescue his people, whether it's this story or any of the other stories in the scriptures what we find is that God always begins by showing up in a unique way. Moses hears from God in a burning bush. God tells him to leave where he has been hiding and return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites. Moses comes up with excuses as to why he can't do it, but God has answers - He says that He will be with Moses throughout, and that He is all powerful so Moses should not worry. We will see parallels between Moses' story and ours. We don't have a burning bush, but we have something even better; the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. God will call us to be audacious, but we must not be like Moses and come up with excuses. If we do, we will miss out on what God has in store for us. Instead, if we heed God's call, not only will our lives be transformed, but also those around us.

In this message, we look at how Abraham intercedes with God for the city of Sodom. From this, we learn three things about prayer. The first is that we have to be present; to show up. We need to be in the pattern of praying regularly and consistently. Next we need to bring our petitions to God; our needs, the needs of others, our requests, and our dreams. God is interested in the big things and the little things in our lives. Undergirding our prayers, we need to position ourselves correctly; submitting to God's will for our lives. By being open to God's will for our lives, we will often experience more that we could ever imagine, and God will transform us along the way.
