@ozorafestivalofficial is one of the festivals that is very close to my heart. It always brings something really special. Musically, personally, or just amazing in general. This year, I had the honour of closing the Ambyss stage on Sunday. It was something else to bring an ending to 10 days of mayhem and sonic adventures. The result is this set. On the 11th of July, one of my best friends Daniel Zuur (aka @krautmusica) passed away. He'll be missed forever for his funny character, his serious moments and his overall wisdom.On the 21st of July, we celebrated his life with 300 of his best friends. This one was curated and put together while I was up in the air flying from Eindhoven back to Lisbon. It was the perfect distraction from not wanting to be in a flying aluminium tube. The export was done right before the pilot told us to get ready for the landing. The mixing I did at home on my (still very much amazing) Focal monitors. So enjoy this new one.

Telecast - #027 - Telecasting to the cosmos! Welcome to the twenty-seventh TELECAST. A series of podcasts that I haven't really released mostly monthly. With the humble aim of combining the music I find, love and want to share into a set for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully, it will become your go-to place for a fix of good music.
This time it’s back to the depths of the night with stirring glitchy tracks that will get you in your guts on the dance floor of the biggest space of the warehouse. It also marks a new beginning as I have been working on a new studio setup and it’s starting to shape up really nice. A new house with a new room and new monitors. I am over the moon with two new Focal Alpha 65 Evo’s. They sound amazing and makes working with music a pure joy. So even though I have been taking it very loosely with my ‘mostly monthly’ promise, everything is set for more of these in more rapid succession.
So, find the best speakers in the house. Place them evenly out in the fluffiest room. Buy the neighbours tickets to the new Wes Anderson movie. Turn them up to eleven. Make a comfortable cosy spot in front of them. Get in the mood with your preferred intoxicater and let yourself be transported into space. Enjoy the ride with your eyes open or maybe even closed and fear not. I promise to bring you back home safely at the end where we will celebrate with Champagne!

Telecast - #023 - Telecasting to the cosmos! Here we are again. The stress of the pandemic seems to have lessened a little bit and I hope everyone is free to go out again. Here in Lisbon we are free to go but markets and restaurant close early. Clubs and bars are still closed unless they can do something during the day and act like a restaurant. So the parties aren't really here and we're pretty much b bound to house parties, which is also nice but just not the same.
We are looking into doing outside day parties with @kosmokollektive soon but as with everything at the moment, nothing is sure. I guess that brings some form of solace. On the this month's Telecast:
I wanted to combine my new ideas from the past couple of month with my old idea of what I thought a Telecast could be. I'm not sure if I succeeded but I'm happy with the result. It starts slow as usual and I wanted to infuse a more acoustic feel and at the same time keep an electronic beat mix vibe going on.
One of my new favourites is Berlin-based Brigade (@brigadeberlin). It's always nice to discover a new producer and when you check your library he's already in there a couple of times. They have such a nice bouncy optimistic vibe going on. Go check them out.
I also found an old gem towards the end. I am not sure what Rubberroom means but this one track is amazing. It has a really nice guitar riff and once the acid distortion kicked, I was sold. It's somewhere towards the end.

Telecast - #018 - Telecasting to the cosmos! It’s been two years since I uploaded the first Telecast and to celebrate, I made one that’s extra long. I’m going back to the original idea I first had when starting this series. It’s something I should be doing a lot more actually. Just go out and record music and other sounds. Lisbon is teeming with great live music and so it shouldn’t be hard to find something nice.
This time I recorded music in a little bar in Alfama that has amazing live music every day of the week. After a nice dinner, we decided we wanted some music as dessert. The owner Jon Luz was playing together with some other, also very talented, artists on guitar.
The song sets a beautiful tone for the rest of the Telecast and I hope it hits you just as much as it did us when we sat there. Though the recording isn’t the best, you can still hear the emotion pouring from your speakers. Jon has been doing this for a long time and knows exactly what he’s doing. He gets the crowd of just 25 people really going in an intimate setting. I love how everyone starts singing along on his cue. And besides that, the song really sticks in your head. But you’ll know later. Enjoy!

My friend Kraut (@krautmusica) and I had the incredible honour to open the Dickicht floor on Friday morning. @alter-ego-amsterdam invited us to gently wake up the campsite and to get people going again. What followed was an intimate 2 hour back to back session that filled us with warm, fuzzy feelings. It’s amazing to be among friends and such great people and to be able to perform for them at a festival like Garbicz. It blew my mind on so many levels, is transformational like no other and for that reason, it makes this recording a very special one. Enjoy!

About Telecast - #013 After thirteen Telecasts a sort of pattern has emerged. SoundCloud gives me some insight so I can make an educated guess as to what happens when I post music. Turns out that the way I structure the music in the Telecasts predicts how well it will do in terms of plays. Opening tracks, for instance, are a good indication of how good it’ll perform.
It’s actually really cool to see that with N=12, some simple data analysis and a good listen, you can predict what will happen when you make a new Telecast. And thus you can predict that it’ll provide you with something you will like as a listener. And in turn, that’ll get me more repeated clicks and plays.
So for this lucky number Thirteen, I realized again that it’s not about the numbers, but about what I share with you. I picked these tracks not so that it would be easy to listen to and to understand as that catchy guitar rife, but instead give you something to chew on while you’re drifting off into nothingness.
So here are my picks of the month: Jascha Hagen made a new EP on Laut & Luise which is highly recommended. Alan Watts shows up again in a track from the great new album by Peter Power. It’s awfully cliche, but it’s so good that I buy it every time. It’s just super true. Afterward, it shifts sharply to a more clubby tone. Eventually, it slows down again with a good dose of feel-good sounds towards the end.
And a big shoutout to the @heimlichaufsc crew! What a nice compilation you guys made again!

About Telecast - #011 As some of you might know, I moved to Lisbon last week. We came to Porto a while back and it has been a blast living in this beautiful country. The food obviously is amazing, but what stands out the most is the great people I meet in the music scene here. There is a lively downtempo electronic world music scene here that has invited me with open arms. It’s truly inspiring to be here.
So I used these connections to make the latest Telecast. I first got introduced to @ohxala or Isa and Luis. They’re an amazing couple living in Porto who seem to pull the whole scene here to another level. They release music on all the big downtempo labels and are releasing music on @ohxalarecords, two of which are in this Telecast: The track by @saif-halasa and @fortu_nato. Go check out the label. Also an honourable mention for @mike-stellar who helped us make a perfect landing here in Lisbon.

About Telecast - #005 Telecast 005 Two weeks ago we were in Lisbon when out of thin air this beautiful girl appears around a corner trying hard to scare me. Screaming and making faces and everything. I stopped walking and she bursts into laughter. She laughed so damn hard about her own silly joke. It was weird and weirdly enchanting to see. She even pointed her finger at me going: “haha, I got you!”. Tears were rolling over her cheeks as she walked wall to wall down the half-lit stairs somewhere down to the river. Then, she looked at me one more time and like she came, she disappeared into the night.
Later that night we ended up in a club near the river where we saw a really nice improv band. They played somewhat experiential crossover jazz build-ups in their tracks. Interesting to listen to and I closed my eyes for a moment. Unwillingly I turned around and there she was. The same girl again walking up to me with two drinks in her hands. She looked at me and thought back to the moment earlier that evening. A big smile returned to her gentle face. She approached me again. Only this time less abrupt.
Geju (@g-e-j-u) started playing. The Portuguese temperament and their hypnotic themes began to melt. The music sparked something in the room. The volume went up just enough for everyone to get dragged in. There was but one thing to do. And in all honesty, it was one of those rare nights where literally all you do is dance. It was great. People liked what they heard. Even though they didn’t really know, where these slow, upbeat rhythms were heading for.
The clock went forward an hour that night into the summer, but here on the dance floor, everything seemed to move independently of time outside. Slowly, but surely the first couldn’t hold it in anymore and a few warily whistles could be heard. After that, the place started to catch a mild fire and cheers and whistles became louder and louder. From that point onward the crowd was sold. This strange downtempo worldly beat took everyone on an unexpected trip into this slow cathartic build-up. I’m giving it to GEJU as the prime catalyst. They knew very well what they were doing there and why. That turned into inspiration and that inspiration turned into this.

Welcome to the fourth TELECAST. A new series of podcasts that will be released mostly monthly. With the humble aim of combining the music I find, love and want to share into a set for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully, it will become your go-to place for a fix of good music.
About Telecast - #004 A while back, in a country not too far away, I found a record label that struck a chord with me. Their name is @Analog-Africa and their slogan is equally striking: The future of music happened decades ago... How right they are! They showcase an amazing mix of African music that’s being (re)released outside the limits of Africa and mostly finds its origins in the 70s. This label goes beyond music by releasing rare photographs, interviews and full discographies. Occasionally, they take a trip to South America as well.
To me, this shows the love for a continent and it’s music the way it should be. Being truthful to musicians, all releases are fully licensed, and being brought back into the spotlight that otherwise might have never seen the attention they deserve outside of the dark continent.
Needless to say, when I found the label I was inspired and so I decided to make a tribute to them. For this set I picked music from a number of releases from Amara Touré released between 1973 and 1980, music from Benin released somewhere between 1969-1981 and Colombian music released between 1960-1985. You'll also find random tracks I fell in love with from this label.

I’ve been walking around with this idea for almost a year now and the other week I decided it’s time to get rid of Josh Dupree. He has been with me since I was 17. Some people just think that’s my name but it didn’t fit me anymore. Back then I thought it was super cool but it’s hard for people to understand and it’s way too American for my taste nowadays. It just doesn’t fit what I’m doing anymore. So it is time for a change.
And so here’s to a fresh new start with a new alter ego that fits what I’m doing. The urban dictionary has this to say about it:
“A person who tends to space out often. He or she does not respond when directly spoken to. The space cadet is not necessarily a person of low intelligence or a heavy drug user, but rather one who is so easily lost in reverie that he or she loses all awareness of the surrounding physical world.”
Change a few words and you have an amazing explanation of what the effect of music is on people. Anyway, let me know what you think.

About Telecast - #002 The idea of having a series of podcasts really sparked creativity. Numerous concepts have come to mind that will represent a broad interest in music from all decades.
For the second telecast I wanted to give it a more acoustic feel, to create something that has a lot of love and kindness to it that gets a little edgy towards the end. And then sweet again.
The basis of the set sometimes can be just one track that sets a certain mood that’s worth building a whole set around. This time that was an edit my housemate @krautmusica made from Branko’s Let Me Go. It hits all the right notes.

About Telecast - #001 Finding good music never seems to be the problem. Finding a good way for me to share it outside the realm of clubs and festivals, however, seems to be a lot harder. Mostly because you’re bound by certain rules.
I wanted to find a way to open up new possibilities and do whatever I feel like presenting you every month. As long as it’s every month, it’s more than an hour and has a narrative. That I promise you, monthly.
Music and inspiration to me are omnipresent. It comes from loved ones, friends or weird back alleys of the internet. Or, as is the case for this month, from Barcelona where we found a nice little square with this amazing street musician you hear at the beginning. I recorded his music. While he was playing, a Dutch girl named Annelies interrupted the recording because she wanted to ‘move with sun’, but found out there were two different bars sharing the same terrace. Her’s not being the sunny one...The result is hilariously stupid, but the music heartwarming.
The rest of this podcast consists of normally mastered tracks. One of them is @Iorie, who’s pumping out new music at an insane pace while at the same time incredible tracks. They never fail to be on point. And, funnily enough, I met him randomly wandering around my house a while back. Same goes for free spirit @SteffenKirchhoff, who I met just before travelling to South America. He reminded me of the reason for my travels. Thanks, Steffen!
The last artist I wanted to give a special shoutout is @GerraGmusic. I first encountered him in a mix he made for his own @nucleogatopardo on GATØTAPE #2 and fell deeply in love with his track Incerteza. An amazing track that really shows his musical talent. It’s the last ‘normal’ track on the list. I close off with Hanni El Khatib. Why? Firstly, because the track just makes me smile, and secondly, because I want to give people the experience that I had when he popped up out of nowhere. So I snuck him in at the end of my set.
