Get to Know Jason and David Annecy of Gay Fad Studio in Lancaster, Ohio!
"Fran Taylor started Gay Fad Studios in 1939 with a personal investment of $30. Her immediate success painting metal wastepaper baskets started her meteoric rise. In 1945, Taylor moved the company from Michigan to Lancaster, Ohio. It was here that she blazed a pioneering trail in midcentury glassware and shattered norms one glass at a time.
Throughout the years, Gay Fad Studios developed multiple methods to decorate glassware with brilliant accuracy and durability. And with each piece, Taylor strived to make art accessible through everyday, functional items. Gay Fad Studios closed 60 years ago in 1962, but its spirit lived on.
Taylor's last wish was to create a space that would encourage creativity within everyone. Little did she know her idea was boundless, unrestricted by time, and that her story would endure to inspire a new generation.
Today, Gay Fad returns to Lancaster, Ohio with new and vintage midcentury glassware inspired by the company that broke the glass ceiling. Led by Jason and David Annecy, they seek to raise visibility for Taylor's achievements while spearheading a revival that resurrects Gay Fad Studios with newfound joy and creativity in the heart of a Glass Town."
