The Good Enough Project with Will Taylor: Recent Episodes

Will Taylor

What if you could try that new activity? What if you could start that new business? What might it look like for you to be a good enough parent or partner. So often automatic negative thought patterns completely shape what we believe we are or are not capable of. I will be speaking with all sorts of people to look at how they have overcome fear, imposter syndrome, perfectionism and of course feeling good enough. When we overcome this we can go on to do amazing things. It’s rarely talent, gifts, ability or passion that stops us. Its the lies we tell ourselves. Freed from that I believe people can achieve more than they every thought possible. In my work these breakthroughs are what I live for. People going for jobs they never thought were in their reach. People starting business, going alone. Clients who never thought that they would, could or even deserve a new partner yet in each case when breaking down the beliefs they find the true self. Fully capable of achieveing great things. All they had to do was start with realising they were good enough. And thats what I want for you too. So I really hope you join me on this discovery as we look at what it means simply to be good enough.

In todays show we have Paula Shepherd a Certified Business Coach & Consultant. We explore her story of breaking free of A corporate america that did not have A place for her.

Paula now shows female entrepreneurs how to show up courageously so they can finally start connecting with their people, making sales, and taking back control.

Paula is a woman of passion and purpose and I genuinly think she stands out in the way she serves her clients. She is someone who is there for you as a person and not simply taking you through a process. Change in you is more important than simply the money she and you can earn through the relationship.

In these podcasts I am helping share the stories of others so that you are inspired to go out into the world, have the confidence to raise your voice and let your story transform the lives of those you encounter.

Today We have Photographer Michael Beecham. Michael is a the 'Director of Design' for a US startup company, as well as a photographer working principally in black and white during his free time.

Over the past year, particularly during the recent pandemic, he has become increasingly aware of the need to protect his mental health and some of the more negative aspects of Social media.

Mike brings so much insight into the value & confidence of our own voice. When the gaze of social media’s likes and shares drives so much of our intention and interaction he helps us come back to what is important.

This is an episode where we even though we talk about Mike’s photography, if you create or engage with anything in an online space, all of the conversation will be relevant in helping you free yourself from comparison, imposter and the algorithms that shape how you see yourself and your work.

So, Sit back, relax and enjoy this episode of the Good Enough Project Podcast

Today we have Grace Claydon. Grace is the founder of a new charity Queer Street which aims to help young LGBTQIAP+ people find community, housing, advice and support. We dig into how even though the perception is that it is much easier to come out in 2021 than even 10 years ago, still young people wrestle with feeling like their sexual identity is not good enough.

Grace talks about how her charity supports these young people as they explore their sexual and gender identity as well as the act of setting up the structure of the charity itself and dealing with the inevitable imposter syndrome of being a young adult C EO of an organisation.

It always excites me to hear stories of people who are driven to action when they know there is a need to support others, especially when it involves young people.

And today I love how Grace's passion has prompted action and that she hasnt waited until she feels like she knows everything. grace is willing to learn along the way. She will probably make mistakes and i love how she realises that this is part of the process to becoming a confident CEO

Of course the role isn’t about doing everything herself and the fact that she has good trustees and is willing to deligate shows that she is able to let go of some of the ideas that to be CEO you have to be the expert at everything.

Finally I love her message to queer young people that they are good enough as they are, and that their sexuality doesnt take away from that. The ongoing community grace is creating will become a safe haven for those seeking answers to questions and even allow them to work out what those questions are along the way. This permission and safe space is truly wonderful.

Today I talk with Dan Reed. Dan Reed tells the story of developing his project “the career dad”. starting with simple conversations about being on a career path as well as being a fully present father to his 2 children, without letting go of his desire to be his very best at both.

When so much messaging can be found around dads having to let go of career in order to be more present with their family Dan has created a community to have open coversations around developing both these areas of Dads lives.

Through writing, speaking, podcasting and TikTok, Dan is daring to put career on a level footing with parenting and finding ways to bring passion and enable permission to both.

Today we welcome Dr Bex Lewis to our Good Enough Community.

Dr Bex Lewis is passionate about helping people engage with the digital world in a positive way, where she has more than 20 years’ experience. She is Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University, with a particular interest in digital culture and the digital environment, persuasion and attitudinal change, especially how this affects the third sector, including faith organisations, and, after her breast cancer diagnosis in 2017, includes social media and cancer.

Trained as a mass communications historian, she has written the original history of the poster Keep Calm and Carry On: The Truth Behind the Poster (Imperial War Museum, 2017), drawing upon her PhD research.

She is Director of social media consultancy Digital Fingerprint, and author of Raising Children in a Digital Age: Enjoying the Best, Avoiding the Worst (Lion Hudson, 2014), of which a second edition is in preparation for 2021. Alongside academic journal articles, she has authored a number of book chapters, and regularly judges digital awards. She has a strong media presence, with her expertise featured in a wide range of publications and programmes, including national, international and specialist TV, radio and press, and can be found all over social media, typically as @drbexl.

Right from the outset I want to provide you a context for this conversation.

The idea of Keep Calm and carry on has now taken on a different focus in Bex’s life as she is now living with Metastatic cancer which brings with it a reduced life expectancy.

In today’s conversation Bex generously discusses her experience with what it means to keep calm and cary on, her honestly around language used for people with cancer as well as end of life preparation.

Like many things in life, and cancer is no exception, we can safely say that when you have met one person with cancer, you have simply only ever met one person with cancer. Everyones experience and relationship to thier illness is uniquely their own.

This though is Bex’s wonderfully human, vulnerable and ultimately life affirming story and in it we discovered a conversation about being good enough to live.

Libby is a painter and have been working professionally since 2012, full time since 2016. Her constant subject has been trees, though the motivation for painting them has evolved over the years.

It took an entire year of practice and pep talks with friends before she could pluck up the courage to call herself an artist and when I did it felt like diving from a great height not knowing if anyone had remembered to fill up the pool!

Being Good Enough is something that she find hard to admit to, because she always want to improve, yet at one point Libby was able to persuade herself that she was at least Good Enough to try, and that is how she still feels with each new canvas.

A simple Introduction to The Good Enough Project Podcast.
this is episode 0.5, a simple introduction to the conversations to come i’m looking to explore and breakdown what stops us from believing that we are good enough.
This feeling hits so hard with so many people that I am interested in exploring what if anything can be done about it.So I really hope you join me on this discovery as we look at what it means simply to be good enough.
