Walk In Talk: the restaurant life: Recent Episodes

See our YouTube videos @www.thewalkintalk.com! The Walk-In, an area within our eateries where so much happens, and is hardly understood by non-industry folks. There are so many amazing stories, and so much insight to be shared by those who work within such a demanding industry. An industry of lifestyle, commitment, and the daily struggle for perfection.

Enjoy the camaraderie of Chef Mike Malloy and me, Carl Fiadini, as we feature the best local Chefs, Bartenders, Distributors and Farms; while palling around with industry friends, and associates. The intent is highlighting and sharing the stories of the hard working people which make enjoyable restaurant experiences possible.

First thing - do not judge! We’re stoked about our impromptu, last minute, maiden voyage so to speak! ; this is our FIRST EPISODE! 🤓😅🎙

So there I was, minding my own business. Willie and I had an easy film day scheduled at Sal Y Mar Rooftop Bar in Tampa. When all of a sudden, I get a call from a dear Chef friend, Chef Jeffrey Schlissel.

Now as busy as Chef is, he had a block of time not accounted for on his calendar, so he met up with us at the hotel to hangout while we filmed an episode of The Dirty Dash Show at the bar.

Only being one old fashioned in, before I knew it, we were setup to record a podcast session… our very first, basically untested, podcast session…

We had our host Chef, Johnathan Rodriguez, Chef Jeffrey and a remote call in from Chef Amy Sins out of New Orleans! It was on like the preverbal Donkey-Kong! Willie, my main production guru, did an amazing job!

The content is terrific, in spite of a few first timer glitches and dumdum oversights on my part, the virgin voyage of the podcast was a success!

Again, no judging! We’ll have this mapped out and perfected in short order!

Main highlight:

Hurricane Ian Relief event coming Nov 14th to benefit food industry folks that have been badly affected by Ian.

Check out:

  • This is Chef Amy’s 501.3c and she is spearheading this effort with more than a dozen Chefs, as many farms and a vast group of supporters!

  • Side note: we have a GFM page for Stropharia Mushroom Farm in Naples, Fl. They were beat up in the storm. They’re a small farm and we’re at about $1,000 so far. Please take a look.
