Dear Listener,
In this episode, we're diving into the "mental toughness challenge" that has been all over the internet for the past year--the 75 Hard Challenge. Sound familiar?
Join me as we browse the challenge's website to figure out what it's all about and the outcomes it claims to deliver. As we go, I'll share my take on the challenge, the things that give me pause about it, and whether or not it's something I would recommend as a dietitian (spoiler alert: it's not).
🚨TW for this episode: Since I'm reading directly from the challenge's website throughout this episode, there is mention disordered behaviors. I do my best to keep descriptions vague, but if you're in a place where hearing a challenge like this being talked about in depth won't be helpful for you, feel free to skip over this episode and join us back here next week for another guest interview 😊

Dear Listener,
Today, join me and special guest Kara Elise Campbell for a discussion about how food can be a way for us to come back to our bodies. Throughout the episode, Kara shares tips on how we can reconnect to our bodies through food and practical tools to help us reawaken our intuitive voice within 🙌
Kara Elise is a dating and embodiment coach based in Nashville, TN. She empowers women to come back home to their body and get clear on what they want so they can create the space to invite in healthy relationships. As a former celebrity chef, Kara is a big believer that food is a modality to help us connect to our bodies, and when we connect to our bodies, we unlock our lives. Through her podcast, courses, coaching, and group programs, Kara has created a community of women who are learning to love themselves exactly as they are, and reclaim the self-trust that was lost along the way.

Dear Listener,
In this episode, I'm sharing one of my favorite analogies of all time with you. I love using this analogy to explain the binge 👉 restrict cycle because it helps us understand that binges and/or moments when you feel out of control around food aren’t the result of a lack of “willpower.” Rather, they’re your body’s natural response to not getting enough fuel on a consistent basis!
If you enjoy today's episode or anything else I share here on the pod, please take a moment to tap those five stars ⭐️ and leave a review. Your support helps more than you know. Thanks for Chewning in!

Today, join me and my wonderful guest, Jessi Kneeland, for a conversation about body neutrality and how our unmet needs may manifest as body image issues. By digging deep into the root causes of their body image issues, she helps people move toward body neutrality, radical self-acceptance, and a deep sense of self-worth and confidence that has nothing to do with how they look.

Dear Listener,
Today, join me and the wonderful Amee Severson for a conversation about fatphobia and how social justice fits into conversations around health and nutrition. Amee also shares her thoughts on why some individuals have a hard time accepting the existence of things like sizeism and thin privilege.
Amee is a Registered Dietitian whose work focuses on body positivity, fat acceptance, and intuitive eating through a social justice lens. With a mission to break the stereotype that all RD’s live in small bodies and only eat certain foods, Amee cultivates rebellion and liberation on social media, showcasing the possibility for health and happiness in any body. Amee encourages the belief that food can be enjoyed without guilt or shame. She believes that recovery from disordered eating is possible for everyone and that every person deserves to feel trust in their body. Amee doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all nutrition and health, so she works with clients to make health and nutrition fit into their current life, not the other way around.

Dear Listener,
We know that finding satisfaction through our eating experiences is an important part of Intuitive Eating. However, is it really realistic to think that every eating experience has to be super satisfying?
What happens when you need to eat something quickly during a five minute break at work? Or when you just have to make do with whatever food you have available in the moment? What about when you don't feel hungry but know your body still needs fuel?
In this episode, I answer all of these questions. Sure, eating is meant to be pleasurable and satisfying...but sometimes it does just have to be functional. Can't wait to share more with you!

Dear Listener,
Have you ever been in one of those food situations where someone won’t take “no” for an answer? Maybe your co-worker really wants to you try his “world famous” seven layer dip…or maybe grandma’s favorite way to say “I love you” is through her chocolate chunk cookies. Sure, part of your IE journey involves making peace with all foods you find satisfying and learning to enjoy them, guilt free, when in social settings. But did you know part of your IE journey also involves learning to speak your truth and communicate your needs? And sometimes, this may involve politely refusing food!
Whether your reason for refusing certain foods is due to an allergy, food preference, or simply because you’re already feeling comfortably full, I know that saying “no, thank you” can be uncomfortable sometimes. So join me in this solo episode to learn how to navigate these situations so that you can kindly and unapologetically honor what’s best for your body 😊
If you love this episode, please consider tapping those five starts, leaving a review, and/or sharing a screenshot of this episode on your IG story! Dear Listener,
Join me and my long-time friend, Amanda Cox, for a conversation about COVID-19 and food safety!
Amanda reached out to me a few weeks ago saying that many of her clients and friends were raising concerns about eating in our current climate. Questions like… “Do I need to take special precautions when I’m washing my fresh produce to make sure it’s safe for consumption?” and, “Are canned + frozen food options nutritious?”
She suggested we schedule a time to talk about some of these concerns and record that conversation for the benefit of others. Thanks to her, you’re hearing all of our answers on the pod today!
If you want to learn more about Amanda, you can email her at Acox.Wellnesscoach@gmail.com or find her on Instagram @Acox.WellnessCoach 🎉

Dear Listener,
Today I’m going solo to talk about breakups…
Okay, not breakups with humans (this isn’t a dating podcast!), but breakups with dieting tools. First on our list of breakups? THE SCALE.
I cover three important questions you can ask yourself when trying to decide if you need to break up with your scale for good! I also answer a listener question that reads, “If exposure to food is part of how you overcome emotional ties to it, couldn’t that same argument be made with regards to the scale? That being exposed to it to learn to view it as a number would be better than abstaining from it?” Tune in to hear my response!
And of course, if you’re love the pod and think others could benefit from hearing this message, please take a few moments to subscribe, share, and leave a review to help the podcast grow!

Have you ever wondered, “is it really okay for me to eat when I’m not hungry?” Or have you ever felt confusion around the conversation of listening to your hunger and fullness cues? If so, this episode is for you!
This week, I’m going solo to talk about why it IS most definitely okay and normal to eat outside of physical hunger while on your intuitive eating journey. By the end of this episode, you’ll have a greater understanding of why intuitive eating is NOT “the hunger and fullness diet” and how many different eating experiences can contribute to a strong and healthy relationship with food.
Please enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe, rate, review, and share the show! I chewly appreciate you :)

Dear listener,
On today’s episode, I have a conversation with my friend and fellow Registered Dietitian, Andres Ayesta. Although Andres and I have very different nutrition philosophies, we both share a similar passion: busting nutrition MYTHS!
So yes, we’re continuing the theme of myth busting here on The Yours Chewly Podcast (check out last week’s episode to learn the truth about “processed foods” and eating at night). But this week, we’re covering two very hot nutrition topics…Keto and Whole30.
Tune into our conversation to learn what’s up with these two diets and, most importantly, to learn why you don’t need to buy into something just because everyone else seems to be doing it.
If you’d like to learn more about Andres and tap into his wealth of knowledge, find him on Instagram (@andresayesta).
Yours Chewly, Claire
P.S. Please keep in mind that this episode is focused on breaking down each one of these diets. I do offer my non-diet RD perspective on each of them, but if you’re trying to stay away from talk of nutrition and/or any diets at this point in your IE journey, you might want to skip this one :)
Dear listener,
Welcome to the first ever episode of the pod where you get an exclusive glimpse into what it's like to be a member of our free, private Facebook community, The Yours Chewly Goal Slayers!
I talk about this community a lot on the podcast, but this episode features one of our weekly traditions called "Two Tip Thursday"--a segment where I hop on live video each Thursday and offer two tips to help members strengthen their intuitive eating journey.
The theme of this Two Tip Thursday was myth busters! So tune in to today's episode to get the inside scoop on "processed foods" and eating late at night.
And if you have a few extra moments, don't forget to leave a rating and a review! Until next week...

Dear listener,
If you've spent any time at all searching the "non-diet" realm of health and nutrition, it's pretty easy to find out what non-diet dietitians don't do. Even the phrase "non-diet" sends a pretty strong message from the start!
But instead of continuing to talk about what we don't do, I figured it was time to talk about some of the things we DO do! So tune into this episode if you're wondering what a non-diet, Health at Every Size® approach might entail.
Of course, be sure to share this episode with someone else who might benefit from hearing this message. And if you're so inclined, don't forget to tap those five stars and leave a review, too!
Yours Chewly with gratitude, Claire

Alicia brought so much incredible energy to our conversation and I know you'll gain a ton of value from listening to her speak about how her nutrition + health philosophy is evolving!
Be sure to follow along with Alicia's awesome content on Instagram (@nutritionwithalicia) and share this episode with at least one other human who you think could benefit from hearing it :)

Dear listener,
If there’s one thing I’ve learned as an intuitive eating dietitian, it’s that re-learning how to trust your body when it comes to eating, moving, and LIVING is a journey filled with unknowns.
Said another way, it’s SCARY sometimes! However, I don’t think that fear should be the thing that keeps you in an unhealthy, unhappy place.
So, I’m taking this episode as an opportunity to address 3 of the biggest, most common fears I see over and OVER again from working with clients to help them ditch their food & exercise rules in efforts to chewly live the free & happy life they deserve.
If anything in this episode resonates with you, I’d love to hear your takeaway(s). Slide into my DM’s on Instagram (@clairechewning), share the episode with someone who needs to hear it, and/or hop on over to Facebook to join my free, private community of Goal Slayers.

So here we are, just a few days away from the start of 2019! You know what that means—the annual deluge of New Year’s Resolutions. cue anticipatory, yet mostly terrified gasps
Look, I’m all for self-improvement—BUT, I don’t think the turn of a new year is a good reason to beat yourself up for all the things you don’t quite love.
I know that today’s guest would agree with that statement, and that’s one of the many reasons why I love her! Toni Marinucci is a fellow Registered Dietitian & the wonder woman behind her nutrition coaching business, Tips with Toni.
On today’s episode, we discuss the importance of growing towards who you were meant to be, as well as goal setting for sustainable change. Consider applying some of her advice + wisdom to your 2019 mindset!

Dear Listener,
In today's solo episode, I discuss holiday nutrition in a not so traditional way. It's no secret that there are an overabundance of nutrition and fitness tips to keep you "healthy" over the holiday season, but I believe that most of them are largely unhelpful.
I mean, does skipping pie on Thanksgiving sound like a fun solution to you?? Yeah, me either. Plus, everyone tells you to "not feel guilty," and "enjoy yourself," but how the HECK are you supposed to actually do that? That's what I'm here for!
Listen in to learn why you should use your internal dialogue surrounding holiday food to build awareness about how your current food relationship may need to shift into a more positive direction for LIFE...not just for the purpose of a holiday celebration.
I talk food guilt, food obsession, emotional eating, restriction, over-exercising, and SO much more.
I hope you'll learn some things to help set you up for not only a happier holiday season, but a happier, healthier life. Wishing you a joyful holiday!
With gratitude, Claire

Dear Listener,
Today's episode recounts two of the latest lessons I've learned while teaching PB&J workshops for kids (yep, you read that right--are you even surprised?).
The heart of the matter is this: We HAVE to teach the young minds around us that we are all so much more than a number on the scale and that how we talk about ourselves is important.
The best (and only) way to do this? Well....I guess you'll just have to listen in to figure that one out.
Yours Chewly, Claire

Dear Listener,
In the health & fitness world, everyone loves to talk about this little thing called "balance." Balance is the thing everyone says you need to have but...do you? Or does striving for the idealistic representation(s) of balance you're shown actually leave you feeling more imbalanced?
In this episode, I offer up 3 actionable tips to help you move past this to start crafting & living up to your OWN definition of a balanced life...TODAY!

Dear listener,
I'm upset. ...why, you ask? It's because of this "golden birthday" concept. If you're not familiar, it's the birthday when you turn the same age as your date of birth. It is said to bring with it an aura of auspiciousness and wisdom.
Cool, right? BUT...mine happened when I was 9. I don't remember much about being 9, but I definitely know it wasn't a year cloaked in luck or exceptional wisdom (unless you count my long division skills).
So, I'm making up a new rule. Since this year, my 23rd year, has been my biggest year of growth so far, I'm deeming THIS my golden birthday year. And, interestingly enough, 23 (along with 31) is said to be one of the most powerful golden birthdays because it is an "ever-shifting entity that at times holds nearly infinite levels of Power." (thanks, Urban Dictionary for the quality info)
In this episode, I detail what I believe to be 23 of the most important lessons I've learned in my 23 years of life. Some funny, some serious, some that I know you'll be able to resonate with. Please listen in, enjoy, & share!

Dear listener,
Today's episode is brought to you by none other than Yours Chewly and one of her favorite, most informative AND entertaining Registered Dietitians on social media.
Some of you may know him as Andy the RD, but he's also the self proclaimed King of Kale. Through his private practice in Toronto, he helps clients sort through the chaos of the nutrition industry to provide personalized guidance, solutions, and support for sustainable healthy success.
Although not a vegetarian himself, he strongly believes in the power of plant-based foods and encourages individuals to explore plant-based foods through his practice, research-based blog articles, and an unmatched sense of nutrition humor (although I'd like to think I'm close...).
Tune in to hear his story, our discussion on the importance of plant foods & the myths behind soy, as well as his new & exciting business venture.
If you want to check out more of his work (which I highly recommend you do), join the thousands of others following him on IG (@andytherd), visit his website, https://andytherd.com/, OR check out the hilarious blog article we mention in our talk: https://andytherd.com/2018/06/20/the-funny-story-of-how-i-fell-in-love-with-kale/.

Dear Listener,
I know you probably think that weight (loss, gain, maintenance...whatever!) has a LOT to do with the success of your health & wellness journey.
But actually....it doesn't. Not in my eyes, at least. Tune into this episode to learn why changes in weight will not always lead to positive changes in your health--in fact, it could hurt you more than harm you!
This isn't something that gets talked about a lot (especially by nutrition & fitness professionals)--but it needs to be heard. Your health is SO much more than just your weight.
Please listen, enjoy, share, and leave your thoughts! I'd love to hear from you. Also, keep an ear out for a special offer from Yours Chewly at the end :)
Yours Chewly with gratitude, Claire
Dear listener,
I'm SO excited to share this conversation between myself and my friend, Austen Bohmer, creator of the Intuition Gym & Kitchen!
Austen is an actress, blogger, Instagrammer, and fellow woman who's loving, living, and learning from her intuitive journey. In this episode, she shares what has helped her most on her path to intuitive eating, moving, & living, as well as ways that YOU can start making daily wellness more accessible (which may or may not include a discussion about yoga in your underwear...).
I have Instagram to thank for connecting me with this vibrant, thoughtful woman, and I couldn't be more grateful that she agreed to share her story on this platform.
If you want to read more from Austen, check out her website: https://www.theintuitiongk.com/--and if you want to fill your social media feed with positive daily messaging, follow her on IG @theintuitiongk (I highly encourage you do both!)

Dear friends,
In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing my good friend, fellow nutrition coach, business owner, and almost Registered Dietitian, Trevor Lomax.
Trevor went from being “that small kid” who got bullied and picked last for teams in gym class to being “that jacked fitness and nutrition expert” who carries a presence of positivity and self-confidence everywhere he goes. His catalyst for change? Fitness and individualized nutrition.
Tune in to hear the “why” behind Trevor’s business, learn the difference between a gentle nutrition vs. a performance-based nutrition approach, and discover the importance of finding a nutrition solution that works for YOU to achieve optimal success, happiness, and confidence. Oh…and a few good jokes & stories along the way, of course.
Check out Trevor on Instagram (@trevorlomax) and on his very own podcast, The Muscle and Hustle Podcast (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/muscle-and-hustle-podcast/id1433980795?mt=2).

Dear listener,
In this episode, I interview my dear friend and fellow Registered Dietitian, Alie Grace. Not only do we share a few stories from our time together in Columbus, Ohio as Dietetic Interns, but she also shares her story of a past battle with an eating disorder that has now come to shape her career path and inspire her to be the Dietitian she wished she once had.
After experiencing an injury that put her career as a collegiate runner oh hold, Alie was encouraged to try out weight lifting by a trainer at her hometown gym. She soon discovered a newfound love for a sport that would instill a sense of strength (both mentally & physically) and self-confidence that would continue to aid in her recovery journey.
In April 2018, Alie competed in her first NPC Bikini Competition and continues to feel strong and confident in her own body, as well as proud of all that she is capable of.
I love this girl and am SO grateful to call her a friend. If you resonate with her message and want to see more of what she shares, follow her on Instagram: @dearalie, visit her website: www.aliegracenutrition.com, and check out her Facebook page: Alie Grace Nutrition.

Dear listener,
In this episode, you get a front-row seat to a stellar conversation between myself and one of my dear friends, Lucy Call. I had the pleasure of meeting (and living with!) Lucy in college, and she has been one of the most positive, uplifting humans in my life ever since.
Lucy is a health and confidence coach, radial self-love advocate, and almost Registered Dietitian! At her business, Alive to Thrive, she leads women to personal freedom through radical self-love, fearless adventure, and a healthy lifestyle.
Tune in today to learn from our discussion on primary food vs. secondary food, the importance of self-care, and how to give yourself permission to step into wellness that extends beyond nutrition.
To find inspiring stories of self-love and tips on how to make yourself a priority, check out Lucy's website at http://www.alivetothrivehealth.com/, and follow her fun on Instagram, @iam.lucycall :)

Dearest fellow nutrition nerds,
This one's for you. In this episode, I detail the story of how I came to the field of nutrition & dietetics. If you're a nutrition student, an RD2be, or someone wondering "is being a Dietitian the right career choice for me?", this episode will give you an inside look at all the steps the path requires.

Dearest Craving Curers,
Have you ever had a craving for a food that didn't necessarily fall in the "healthy" category? If you're even slightly human, you're probably thinking "Well, duh..." I mean, who hasn't?
In this episode, I address a different way of approaching (& curing) your food cravings--because let's be real, the token "Have a piece of fruit for dessert instead!" doesn't always work. We're talking about the importance of honoring your cravings for a long-term, healthy and free relationship with food, your body, and your inner critic.
Yours Chewly, Claire @clairechewning
Dearest healthy-human,
Have you ever crept across the #FoodisFuel hashtag plaguing nutrition & fitspo social media accounts these days? Well, food IS fuel...but it's SO much more than that. In this episode, we discuss why this unique understanding is essential for long-term happiness, success, and freedom with food.
Yours Chewly, Claire @clairechewning
Dear time-seekers,
Do you ever find yourself saying "I don't have time?" If so, this excuse is ruining your relationship with yourself and others, as well as your progress with your nutrition + fitness goals. In this episode, we cover 3 ways in which you can shift your internal speak from "I don't have time" to "I'll make time."
Yours Chewly, Claire @clairechewning
Dear Listener,
Welcome to the first EVER episode of The Yours Chewly Podcast! I'm Claire Chewning--Registered Dietitian, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Food Humor Enthusiast. Here on The Yours Chewly Podcast, we talk ways to live, love, and eat gently. We're leaving the self-deprecating diet and body-negative speak at the door so that we can form a deeper understanding of, connection with, and gratitude for our minds & bodies. Oh...and puns...we make lots of those.
Disclaimer: I don't know a lot about podcasting yet...but I do know a lot about my "why"--and that's what this first episode covers. So, cheers to first impressions, nervous word jumbles, and new beginnings.
Yours Chewly with gratitude, Claire @clairechewning
