Hear from transfer quarterback Devin Brown on his journey from high school to Weber State, by way of Ohio State and Cal. From a high school MVP to a national championship to Weber State. It’s been quite a journey for Devin Brown to where he is now as a senior quarterback transfer on the Weber State football team. A native of Gilbert, Arizona, Brown played his senior season of high school for coach Eric Kjar at Corner Canyon, where he was named the Max Preps State Player of the Year and the Deseret News State MVP in 2021. He threw for 4,881 yards and 57 touchdowns as a senior. He committed to USC during high school but later changed his commitment to Ohio State, where he spent the 2022-24 seasons and was part of the Buckeyes' 2024 National Championship team. He played in 17 games over three seasons in Columbus before transferring to Cal for the 2025 season, where he played in nine games with the Bears. Brown reunited with coach Kjar at Weber State and joined the Wildcats during the spring 2026 season. He now enters his final season of college football with the Wildcats. In this latest ‘Cat Tales podcast, Brown talks more about his journey to Weber State. Canales comes to Weber State with more than 25 years of coaching experience, including 18 seasons in the NBA. In February 2016, Rashid Shaheed signed to play football at Weber State out of high school. A decade later, he is a Super Bowl champion.Shaheed became the only four-time All-American in Weber State history and cemented himself as one of the greatest players ever to wear a Wildcat uniform.Since leaving Weber State in 2021, Shaheed has developed into an NFL standout, earning All-Pro honors and two Pro Bowl selections. Former Wildcat standout Kyndahl Hill has seen the world in the nine years since he left Weber State. Hill has been playing professionally in several countries across Europe, most recently in Israel. He has also played in Italy, Denmark, Ukraine, Germany, and Romania. In this ‘Cat Tales' podcast, Hill talks about his travels and playing in so many different places, learning languages, travel, memories of his time at Weber State, living in the Ogden area, family, and so much more.Hill, a native of Humble, Texas, played four seasons at Weber State from 2013-17 and was part of two Big Sky Championship teams and two teams that played in the NCAA Tournament. He never missed a game in his career and played in 130 games with the Wildcats, tied for the fifth-most games played in school history. He finished his career as the 32nd player in Weber State history to score 1,000 career points. He still ranks third in WSU history in career blocks with 126 and is eighth career rebounds with 734.He was named the Big Sky’s Top Reserve as a junior in 2016.

Last week, he had his Corner Canyon High School team playing in the high school national championship game in Maryland. Less than a week later, he was introduced as the new head coach of the Wildcat football program. Corner Canyon also set a Utah state record with 48 consecutive wins from 2018 to 2021 and advanced to the national championship game in 2025.Kjar coached multiple state MVPs and All-Americans, along with numerous Division I college players and NFL Draft picks, including quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Zach Wilson, and offensive lineman Jackson Powers Johnson. Coach Brent Myers has coached college football for a long time. The Weber State Associate Head Coach is entering his 42nd season as a college head coach, and Weber State’s season opener at James Madison will mark a remarkable milestone for Myers. This Saturday’s game at James Madison will be the 500th game for Myers as a college coach. It will also mark the start of his 12th season on the coaching staff at Weber State. He is the longest tenured coach on the current staff, having joined WSU in 2014, and has been a part of 130 games at Weber State. In this ‘Cat Tales podcast with Paul Grua, Myers talks about just a few memories from his long coaching career, including how he got started in coaching, memorable stadiums and games, coaching connections, how he got to Weber State, and the impact the players have on him. Myers played football at Eastern Washington, then began his coaching career in 1982. He coached at Eastern Washington, Southern Illinois, Northern Arizona, Boise State, Washington, Utah, Arizona State, Louisville, and UNLV, before coming to Weber State. Football is almost here, and the Weber State wrapped up the 2025 Big Sky Kickoff this week at the Northern Quest Resort and Casino in Spokane. Two players and the head coach of all 12 Big Sky football teams assembled in Spokane for the annual kickoff and media days. Head coach Mickey Mental was joined by Wildcat senior offensive lineman Gavin Ortega and junior defensive tackle Matt Herron at the kickoff. The event included a youth clinic, the annual Big Sky Hall of Fame, meetings and trainings, as well as a media session. Weber State football opens fall camp for the 2025 season on July 30, with the season opener on August 30 at James Madison. The home opener will be on September 20 against Butler. Weber State also hosts Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Montana, and Northern Arizona.

Joel and Beth Bass have been synonymous with Weber State Athletics for more than three decades. The couple has attended countless Wildcat events and influenced the lives of thousands of WSU student-athletes. The two are retiring this summer after long service to Weber State. In this latest ‘Cat Tales podcast, Joel looks back on his 34 years of work as the head athletic trainer at Weber State. He talks about the role of athletic trainers and how the job has changed, the relationship with doctors, memorable Wildcat games, dealing with injuries, travel, the Boston Marathon, retirement plans, family, and much more. Joel has been the head athletic trainer for Wildcat Athletics since 1991. For the last several years, he has worked as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, where he oversaw athletic training, strength and conditioning, and equipment. He has been the primary athletic trainer for the Wildcat football and men's basketball teams since coming to Weber State in 1991 and has also worked closely with all other Wildcat teams. He has probably been to more Weber State games than anyone alive. Joel played a pivotal role in developing Weber State University's Athletic Training Education Program, advocating for enhanced treatment of athletes at various levels. His efforts have been instrumental in offering a degree in Athletic Training at the university. Throughout his career, Joel has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the advancement of sports medicine and the welfare of student-athletes at Weber State.Beth Bass has worked in the athletic department for 26 years. She joined WSU in 1999 and has worked as an administrative assistant with several Wildcat teams, coaches, and athletic administrators. Beth has been the organizer of team travel for all Weber State teams, as well as coordinating Adidas orders and uniforms for all Wildcats. Beyond that, Beth has been an integral part of all Wildcat teams and has been a support for all student-athletes.

Get to know Weber State sophomore wide receiver, kick returner, and track athlete Noah Kjar in this latest Wildcat All In interview. Noah talks about growing up playing for his father, his incredible success in high school, and why he chose to come to Weber State. He also talks about his kickoff return touchdown in the win at Montana last season, being on the Wildcat track and field team, his outlook on this year’s team heading into this season, his future plans to be a teacher and coach, and his upcoming marriage. Noah originally signed at Weber State in December 2020. He was a state MVP and a Utah career record holder during his high school career at Corner Canyon. He was the 2020 Utah 6A State MVP and led the nation in receiving yards. He finished his career as Utah’s all-time leader in career receptions with 285. He played for his father Eric at Corner Canyon and helped lead the Chargers to three state championships and a 37-1 record. In his first action at Weber State in 2024, he played in all 11 games. He finished with 16 receptions for 200 yards and had seven kickoff returns for 250 yards. He had a memorable 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Weber State’s win at No. 8 Montana last October. Noah is a native of Draper, Utah. He is majoring in Physical Education at Weber State.

Summer Willis has brought the Weber State Spirit Squad unprecedented national success and recognition, and coached the Wildcat cheer and dance teams to multiple national championships. Weber State has also won four of the last five Grand National Championships, winning in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.The small coed team has won three national championships and won the grand national title twice in 2024 and 2025.A native of North Ogden, Utah, Willis was a cheerleader at Utah State and graduated in 1998.

Former Weber State football standout Stefan Cantwell is back at Weber State helping WSU student-athletes in a different way. Cantwell is working as a physical therapist for Sundance Physical Therapy. As part of his role, he assists Wildcat student-athletes from all WSU sports with physical therapy and injury rehabilitation. In this Wildcat All In Interview, Cantwell talks about his journey since he played at Weber State, becoming a physical therapist, what he likes about helping people with rehabilitation, working with athletes from a variety of sports, and much more. He also looks back on his Wildcat playing career including memories with teammates, memorable games, winning a championship, life after football, and his family. Cantwell played two seasons for the Weber State football team from 2016-17 and was part of one of the great Wildcat teams in school history. In his two seasons as a quarterback with the Wildcats, he threw for over 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns. He still ranks 18th in career passing yards in WSU history. As a senior in 2017, he guided Weber State to a Big Sky Championship, a record-setting 11 wins, a trip to the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs, and a fifth-place ranking in the national polls. He was a team captain and threw for 2,978 yards and 25 touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 597 yards and eight more touchdowns. The Wildcats won two games in the FCS Playoffs, including a win at Southern Utah, to advance to the quarterfinals of the Playoffs for the first time in school history.

Carl Arky is returning as the radio voice of the Wildcats. Arky has been named the new radio play-by-play voice of Weber State Athletics and will broadcast WSU football and men’s basketball games beginning this season. Wildcat games will once again be broadcast on 103.1 FM “The Wave”. Arky is a former Utah Sportscaster of the Year and was the radio broadcaster at Weber State for over 17 years from 1998-2015. He takes over as the radio announcer for Steve Klauke who tragically passed away in June in an auto-pedestrian accident. Arky called nearly all Weber State men’s basketball and football games from 1998 to 2015. He was named the Utah Sportscaster of the Year in 2011. He called several memorable Wildcat games, including multiple NCAA Tournaments. In his first year during the 1998-99 season, the Wildcat men’s basketball team won the Big Sky and beat North Carlina in the NCAA Tournament. He is joined by Paul Grua in this podcast and talks about the loss of Steve Klauke and the impact that had on him. He also talks about returning to call Wildcat games, previous memories of Weber State broadcasts, and his long broadcasting career. DJ is in OKC. Weber State standout Dillon Jones was drafted 26th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft and traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Jones became just the second Weber State men’s basketball player ever drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft, joining NBA superstar Damian Lillard. Weber State softball head coach Mary Kay Amicone is retiring following the 2024 season. Coach Amicone, a former Weber State player, has won over 800 games in her long storied career as a head coach at Weber State, Salt Lake Community College, and BYU. In her 11 seasons at Weber State, she is the Big Sky’s all-time leader in coaching wins and winning percentage and has guided the Wildcats to six Big Sky regular season titles and four Big Sky Tournament championships. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA Championships four times and in 2019, became the first school in Big Sky history to win a game at the NCAA Regionals. She has been named the Big Sky Coach of the Year four times and also coached three Big Sky Conference Players of the Year. Longtime Weber State men's basketball head coach Randy Rahe retired after 16 seasons as head coach on May 16, 2022. Rahe was the Big Sky Conference's all-time leader in wins with 316 wins. He led Weber State to five Big Sky titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. He coached 41 all-conference players and six Big Sky MVP's, including NBA superstar Damian Lillard.

Rahe and his wife Laura spoke with the media following his retirement. Laura Rahe was a teacher as well as a Division I basketball referee for 30 years and is also retiring.

Robb Alexander has been associated with Weber State Athletics for nearly 60 years, with many years spent as the public address announcer for Weber State men’s and women’s basketball games. As an Ogden native, Robb grew up going to Weber State games as a child and has been involved ever since.
