We're back!
Season three starts tomorrow with our newest "Spotlight" series. This series will feature community members sharing some of their talents through music, poetry, and art. You don't want to miss this!
Did you know that the Christmas season technically ends January 5th? In the church calendar, Christmas is followed by Epiphany. This day is associated with the visitation of the magi and their gifts to the Christ child.
We know that this season has been quite chaotic. We saved one of our Christmas story time episodes for the transition into the Epiphany season. We hope that you join us as Dr. David Young, Chaplain of ENC, and part of his family read the story, “All the Colors of Christmas” by Matthew Paul Turner.

Rebecca Deng, of South Sudan’s Dinka tribe, is one of the 89 Lost Girls who came to the United States in 2000 as a refugee after living eight years in Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya. The violence she experienced as a child during the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983-2005) has given her a deep empathy for children and young adults who face similar situations today. She became a US citizen in 2006.
Today Rebecca is an international speaker and advocate for women and children who have been traumatized and victimized by war. She has spoken at the United Nations and served as a Refugee Congress delegate at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Washington DC. She also led a sixty-five person team of referendum workers at the 2011 Out of the Country Voting Center for the South Sudanese Independence Referendum. She worked with the American Bible Society’s Mission Trauma Healing program, formerly called She’s My Sister.

As October is Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to draw special attention to some of the unique challenges that many face each day. The events of 2020 have only increased the mental health challenges that people of all ages are battling with. In light of that, we have partnered with ENC's Office of Community Life to release this message as we enter the final week of Mental Health Awareness Month. Zach, M.A., LPC, and his wife, Ashley, established Hopetown in 2017. Hopetown is a non-profit ministry that provides trusted, professional counseling. Hopetown also provides training for churches that are interested in becoming better equipped to care for their members better. Hopetown is also passionate about equipping ministry leaders to care for themselves better, in order to avoid burnout, and so they can minister to their fullest potential. You will find that Zach is uniquely qualified to share this message with us today as you hear part of his story. Zach and Ashley have been married since 2010 and currently live in the Upstate of South Carolina. They have a precious little girl, Everly, and baby boy, Dax. They also are responsible for their Labrador Retriever, "Bo Bo."
